Soundwave takara vs hasbro..hmm

Well this may have been posted, but I may opt to spend a few more bucks and buy the takara. I just bought a Walmart starscream and to me, the plastic quality felt cheap compared to the takara release of skywarp. :-?
So I guess it's just a matter of what's more important. Saving some bling or getting a quality figure.

And then the eyes! :-(
Why yellow for the hasbro version. I favor the red eyes like the cartoon which takara followed more closely.

Oh well, decision time. :ic$:

I dont know about the comics, but the yellow eyes appear to be a nod to the G1 toy. In esence, theyre made at the same factory, few different paint apps and you're getting SW & 5 cassettes for less than the Takara SW alone.

This figure is meant to be experienced with the multiple cassettes. In regards to the cassettes themselves, the differences are slight between HasTak, but the prices are just too extreme for a modest collector like myself to be able to afford the package of MP-15/16, so hey, the Hasbro version of Soundwave has that small insignificant slight, and yet it is just providing the entire package and an affordable price.

From what I read yes. Don't like.

I have the Takara version. Got enough Christmas money for him. Like the red eyes a lot better.

Yea that might be the way to go. Don't feel like jacking around with painting the hasbro version one with red paint.

i will be getting the hasbro one. 200 bucks for Soundwave and one cassette, plus the other 4 cassettes whish are 60 for 2 of them so you are paying 300+ for a 120 product. its a bit much considering hasbro is selling theirs for 120 with soundwave and all 5 cassettes. there is one bug difference between the colors on them and that is the eyes. i kinda like the yellow but if i dont then i can paint them red. its not hard.

There is also the plastic quality. TRU Thundercracker feels really cheep when compared with PM-11. Doesn't seem worth $75. Where as MP-11 feels like he is worth a lot more just because of the better plastic and extra weight.

I have both but never really compared/noticed. I just picked both up and fiddled with them a bit and I don't really notice much difference. I wonder if they weigh any different (I don't have a scale to check but would be curious).

Don't get me wrong, I'm getting Takara's versions (as always), but I would like to see if there are any quality/density differences between Hasbro's and Takara's.

Just my two cents' worth, but a bottle of Tamiya clear red might take care of the yellow optics issue. The clear red is a darker shade than the yellow, so the color under the red shouldn't show up.

And if you don't mind the hassle, painting a base coat of silver over the optics before applying the clear red will give a similar effect as MP-01 OP's optics, except it's not chrome.

DISCLAIMER: This is all theoretical, so don't come hunting me down with a Magnum 500 if something goes wrong. :P

BTW, I'm completely satisfied with my Takara Soundwave, and have absolutely no intention of buying a second one. ...never mind the fact that my local TRU won't even bring one in.

Oh look, Hasbro is putting out MP Soundwave domestically with all the cassette minions for a good amount cheaper that it cost to purchase the Takara MP with only Lazerbeak. Sounds like a great deal, but... what's this? Yellow eyes?!?!?

For those who hate yellow optics, and are also scared of taking paint to a Masterpiece figure... Now, I cannot see the future so I make no guarintees, but it would be entirely unsurprising to me if Reprolabels eventually comes out with a set of stickers for MP Soundwave and Cassettes that includes stickers for red optics. (Heck, maybe they'd even throw in yellow ones for the one dude out there that bought the Takara one and is saying, "Man, I wish he had yellow optics!")

So don't freak out over yellow optics. Me, I'm not overly bothered by them and they won't stop me from enjoying the hell out of the figure when I am able to get it. But if you are bothered, there will be soloutions.

take the head apart, optics are their own piece, remove it, paint it and let it dry, put it back in his head. the visors exact color match is Testors #1529 Rouge Metallic.

Got them both down off the shelf to... fiddle with them (<.< >.> :P ) and SS is definitely heavier, and the plastic feels nicer. Just how I feel about the MP line, makes the extra expense of Takaras versions more worthwhile.

Do the Hasbro release pics look weird or what. Will the Hasbro MP-13 come with some silk-effect paintjob or is it my screen??!

Plus does the Takara version have die-cast poarts or is it just the screws?

 All Hasbro pics have this photoshop sheen effects. As for die-cast parts, SW feet and joints are metal. The rest are plastic. Btw, don't let that scare you because application of die-cast should be for a practical reason (stability etc) and not for just aesthetics.

For the price of the future TRU MP Soundwave and cassettes, I don't mind yellow eyes over red eyes.

If these statements are true, it's the first time I've read or heard of any significant plastic differences between repaints of the same mold toys. None of the reviews I've come across for the TRU exclusive MP Thundercracker mentions differences in plastic quality or weight. One reviewer who happens to review chogokin(where weight and density of the figure is a point of consideration) has said that there is no detectable material difference between MP-11 and TRU MP Thundercracker.

Is there any confirmation of a weight difference between the two MP figures? Specifically, someone actually weighing the two figures. I take talk about "feeling" or "plastic quality" with little to no substance because it has been shown in the past that all claims of Hasbro TF toys being different in plastic quality/density compared to TakaraTomy TF toys have been false. This includes TakaraTomy and Hasbro versions of MP figures.

Just from a standpoint with Soundwave, since the Takara version's feet are die-cast and the Hasbro has plastic, there's going to be a weight difference off the bat.

$120 or $125 at TRU in the U.S.

For me, the extra cassettes add way more value than differently-colored eyes.

They both have metal feet.
