I can confirm Optimus Prime smashes him flying in a scene quite reminiscent of another we all know (not that one!) and we don't see a corpse... so, he'll be back.

And bloody hell... we've seen a corpse before - look how that turned out. Which is why I think there's more to Megatron than your average Cybertronian.

Yeah I hear him and Barricade just sort of disappear but don't actually die.

Any other surviving Decepticons?

simple question from me.

does it FEEL like a near 3 hour film like AOE did, or does it nip along better?

cause 2 and a half hours is pushing it for me these days and was my one hate in the recent wonder woman film.

No, I think the pacing feels quite good. I think the first 50 zips by. The next 50 then is more Marky Mark, Laura and Sir Anthony but then the last 50 is kinda two 25 minute set piece plays - so feels pretty well paced.

I heard from a couple people that the movie "flows" better but of course that's just opinions.

At the very least it actually is shorter then AOE

I mean they never say his named used to be Megatronus so if they really wanted to they could make him a separate character but that would be dumb eh?

I enjoyed Megatron being G1 Megatron for the most part in this... some good lines. Wish he'd got more interaction with Prime.

But you know how that 'You weren't born, you were built' was so massive last time? I think 'we were brothers once' might be the big tease this time, if they decide to really go in to The Thirteen.

Because here's the thing (I'm spoiler tagging for what it's worth):

Megatron winds up helping Quintessa with her plan. Now, maybe Megatron thinks it's his plan too, given how he tried to bring Cybertron to Earth before (DOTM) but the fact that he delivers 'the staff' to Quintessa without any prompting from her as far as I can see. seems to suggest the two already know of each other and each other's agenda. For that to happen, I would suggest that they were both Primes way back when, Quintus and Megatronus. Given that repeating Galvatron via a Unicron upgrade would be confusing now after AOE, I reckon Unicron will allow them to discover their 'Primal Powers' (What's that - a toyline called Power of The Primes? Coincidence much? :P ) and Optimus will need to rediscover his / the rest of the thirteen.

Good. Good. I like where this is headed then.

Ok....i haven't seen the movie yet....but from what i can gather from watching spoiler reviews....here's a gist of some of what i can gather....which i'll put in spoiler tags

there's a flashback or scene in the past where you briefly see Bumblebee as a VW bug(which'll no doubt be expanded upon with the Bumblebee movie since that is supposed to be set in the 80's)

Unicron's in this movie....but...before you get too excited! he's at the centre of the earth...which explains the horns you see in one of the trailers that people thought was a crashed spaceship of sorts! now...as the earth...they've clearly taken large inspiration from Transformers Prime here! unfortunately Unicron doesn't talk nor fully transform, the underwater structure that Cade goes to by Submarine is the innards of Unicron....where there's a bunch of knights, the planet thing that we originally thought was Unicron is indeed Cybertron((or more to the point....probably Primus....& from what i can gather..Primus doesn't fully transform into robot mode but instead tries to merge with the earth(Unicron) probably to try to Kill/Drain OF Energy/Deactivate Unicron! actually....not kill! coz in an end tag(prob during the credits or end of credits) Quintessa becomes human & tells other's NOT to touch the horns...he doesn't like his horns getting touched(or words to that effect) so! Unicron prob still lives! to feature in a future Transformers movie(& hopefully one where he fully transforms into robot mode...& actually speaks)

So. I just saw The Last Knight. Here's a spoiler-free review:

Overall, the film was a positive experience, but I guess that depends on your individual expectations. The pacing was more brisk than Age of Extinction, and the story was a little more engaging, but not by much. The characters were treated the same as before, mainly the Transformers. We get a little more in-depth look at the history of the Transformers, but only enough to make the events in the film convenient. The main characters of the film this time around are Cade Yeager and Bumblebee. Some other characters are used sparingly, or just at the right moments to further the plot. The human characters are all portrayed well, none of them seem wasted, unlike some of the Transformers. The action is fast-paced, especially the car chases and battle scenes. Michael Bay definitely put his penchant for explosions to good use here. Fortunately, toilet humor was at a bare minimum, perhaps 2 or 3 instances. Adult language was much more prevalent, however. The film definitely earned its PG-13 rating there. The story of the Transformers themselves was further revealed, even though the movie was still human-heavy. It does seem the Transformers share at least equal screen time and importance in this film, as opposed to the previous ones. This aspect seems to be improving with each movie. There were a few things left unexplained, and the ending was definitely left open for the sequel which is intended for 2019, with or without Michael Bay. I rate this film on the level of Age of Extinction, with a somewhat thin story and a lot of action. If you liked that film, you will like this one.

To those of you eager for spoilers, here you go:

Earth is Unicron. That's all the explanation we got. It wasn't said if Unicron is alive, of if it/he was just some sort of inanimate object/planet. Quintessa did say unicron was just like Cybertron, and that's why she was going to use Cybertron to suck the energy out of Earth/Unicron to rebuild Cybertron. Which apparently survived the space bridge collapse from DoTM but was badly damaged. Simmons had a minor part in the movie. Optimus was gone until the last 30 minutes or so. The main characters were Cade Yeager and Bumblebee. Grimlock and the other Dinobots were also only in it for a few minutes. Onslaught was terribly wasted. He was among 5 Cons who were "freed" from TF prison when Megatron made a deal with Lennox. Speaking fo whom, Megatron was also misused, as usual. There was no explanation given for his new appearance or for why he is called Megatron again after being called Galvatron in AoE. TLK can be considered a direct sequel to AoE because it follows the story of Cade Yeager as well as how the Transformers continue to be treated. They are outlawed, and since Cade stuck with them, he is hunted as well. Hot Rod was actually treated decently as a character, though he could have done more. He does have a cool weapon, it temporarily stops time for whoever is shot with it. Sqweeks was an utter, totally useless character. The screen time they used for him could have been used for another actual character, perhaps another of Soundwave's minions. Waste of time. Infernocus was also wasted, he was on screen for maybe 3 minutes, just enough to get killed by Prime. The 3-headed dragon is formed by the 12 knights who abandoned Quintessa and came to Earth 1600 years ago. They are the TF version of the Knights of the Round Table. Quintessa basically guilts Optimus into trying to save Cybertron at the cost of Earth. He comes to his senses when he almost kills Bee and Bee speaks on his own for the first time. He did get a voice box from Trader, the junk truck, but it was a voice box for a female bot. It made for a few good laughs. There were no toilet jokes, but a good bit of swearing. The movie definitely earned its PG-13 rating there. Anthony Hopkins' character dies. Megatron gets blasted out of Cybertron at the end, but isn't shown destroyed. Quintessa is killed. In the end, Cybertron is rebuilt, but not all the way. Optimus and the other Autobots return to Cybertron to rebuild it the right way, without destroying Earth. The explanation for Unicron being Earth is left for the next film. Overall,
I would rate TLK on the level of AoE. Thin story, a bit rushed, but the 2nd half makes up for the 1st half.

Funny thing is Rodimus Prime, I actually find myself on the backwards end on several of your statements.

I actually did not take Quintessa's "death" scene as death. It almost appeared as if she simply left that shell in a shower of electrical current, only to show up in human form in the id credits scene. I liked Sqweeks, but definitely see how he was kind of a waste. I thought Izzy was a waste too, which is a shame, but the movie didn't feel like it really needed her, or for her to be a main character. I only saw Grimlock and Slug, and it was disappointing not to see Strafe or Scorn.
It was also sad that those dinobots we did see disappeared completely really quickly.

I liked the con stuff, like we actually had some good cons stuff starting, but it got cut off pretty quick, which is a shame. though we still have Megatron, Berserker, and maybe Barricade. Hot Rod felt good but really needed more screen time (we can agree on cool ass weapon though). Cogman was the main cybertronian presence, and he was a good character, though I was bummed that he was the main cybertronian presence throughout much of the film. And we had his actual headmaster part cut. Boo. And then Crosshairs, Drift, and Hound are barely in the film basically. Like, only in some scenes. Hot Rod was in more scenes, and I feel he was under-represented.

Also, topspin had Leadfoot's head.

Transformations were good too. Sqweeks was the only one not to transform in the film, and they did it a lot. Spent some good time looking at the transformations too.

I felt the first maybe half to 2/3 of the film was on the right track, but the last bit kinda fell off the rails some for me. Felt rushed and incomplete, like a shadow of what was intended.
Definitely feels like it could have easily been 2 movies, or 3 hours, and things would have gone to the potential the film really had.

I did really like how much Megatron used his arm cannon though, and I really feel that they cut a whole part about where Quintessa somehow rebuilt Megatron from Galvatron, made him a knight's body, and that red bit on his face, which he had in the film and was a sign of Quintessa control,
showed that he was doing her bidding, hence some of the events in the film. I also liked Bee in the film, though I think it really set some stuff up for the Bee movie. sir Burton said he was much different in the 1940's, like much more cruel and not ever referred to as nice, and maybe that is where the Bee movie will explore: murder and rage bot to kind Bee

I don't want anyone to think i didn't enjoy myself or the movie. I did. I just feel it had more potential, and time and too much trying to fit into a thin plot did it in

D-Max, I absolutely agree about the movie's wasted potential. I also thought it should have been a 2-parter, with a lot of explanation thrown in to flesh out the story. What we got was a thin story with a hodge-podge of action scenes. I didn't see the credit scenes, the movie in my theater cut out right after Michael Bay's credit as director. I thought that was kinda funny. Like he was saying he was the only one that mattered. I saw it in 3D, and the visuals were worth it. I will probably see it again over the weekend, and maybe I'll get to see the credit scene. I also agree about the other Autobots being wasted, which is why I didn't even write about them. Hound got in some good lines, and he got to go 1-on-1 with Megatron. It wasn't shown whether he was killed or not. He did take a shot from Megatron dead-center in the chest. I missed the smaller stuff, such as the wrong head on the wrong body. I also agree that Izzy was an unnecessary character, but much like Sqweeks, she is there for the younger audience. That kind of counteracts all the swearing in the film, though. And yes, Cogman. He was very entertaining, and next to Bee, the main Transformer presence in the film.

No Autobot deaths among the main cast. Megatron is not a badass in any part, but he comes close in his showdown with Optimus.

The first hour offered surprising promise and fun, followed by an hour of bloat, and ended with an action sequence that just didn't take well enough of advantage of the great robot cast introduced in the beginning.

It was better than AoE, and ultimately I'm glad I saw the movie.

saw the movie last night in 3d

I enjoyed the movie for what it was. nice and interesting story line, great action, hot cars, and Vivian was hot.

really enjoyed how they introduced the cons, thought it was funny and clever at the same time

loved cogman, super entertaining character

disappointed that the aston martin didn't transform like I thought it would, dinobots didn't get enough screen time

I guess it wasn't tyrese that said " we goin home izzyyy! "

this movie didn't give me any "goosebumps" like the previous movies did though ( AOe when optimus prime transforms from evasion tohis new alt mode, ROTF when optimus fights in the forest and his second blade comes out and says "ill take u all on!!!" , etc )

I just got out of it and i really enjoyed it. its not perfect in the slightest but i had fun.

however i walked away saying "so they stopped sucking the earth dry but isnt cybertron still colliding with the planet? they saved Earth but isnt Unicron still waking up?" oh well it was a fun ride.
