Star Seekers

When I first got Thundertron I wasn't a fan, to say the least. Liked the bot mode for the most part, but was really disappointed with the beast mode and the weapon. That said, he has grown on me and even though he could be better I like him now.

Looking at reviews on this toy lead me to this one in particular and gave me an idea; why not add the Star Seekers to my Classics set. I know that the Star Seekers are from the new Aligned Continuity, but this just seems like a fun way of adding more depth to my Classics set. I don't see the Classics line as a remake of G1 so much as a re-boot (which is why I'll never understand collectors who need more show/toy accuracy, especially from 3P's) so there really is no reason not to take it in any direction I want.

So that said, I've started building a Star Seekers team;

• Thundertron - now moving him from my Prime shelf to my Classics shelves.
Axor (HFTD) - got a MISB on eBay for less than $30 shipped and should receive it soon.
Cannonball (Cybertron) - watching a couple on auctions on eBay atm.
Brimstone (HFTD) - instead of the Cybertron version like in the TFW review (got both tho).
• Sandstorm - might be a problem with the G1 continuity, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Just wondering what people think of this idea, especially as it could be used for an Aligned Continuity set as well, and what toys you think would go well here. I'm also thinking of adding random HFTD, Universe and Generations toys that have no other spot on my shelves atm (due to limited space) to this team to bulk it out.

So what toys/characters do you think would fit well with the Star Seekers?

Same lineup as you in mind.

Planning to use GDO Sandstorm.

I feel kinda sad I passed on Axer even with half off clearance sale. :-(

Every Star Seeker except for Axer transforms into a beast. I'd stay true to that, therefore my "classics" Star Seeker lineup would be:

* Thundertron - Prime
* Sandstorm - Beast Wars
* Brimstone - Cybertron
* Axer/Axor - HFTD (turns into a motorcycle in the Aligned family; this would be the closest in-scale figure)
* Cannonball - Cybertron (considering there is no toy of Cannonball that turns into a beast yet)

However, I'd like to keep the Star Seekers an Aligned original, so my Star Seekers would go on Prime shelf. Also, I'll wait to see if any more Star Seekers are introduced in the Beast Hunters toyline (or at least Cannonball and Axer).

I'm using the Star Seekers as an excuse to buy several of the TransMetal Beast Wars and Meast Machines figures that I couldn't get under my pre-existing guidelines, but were still interesting enough to tug at my interest.

Now I just need someone to make a pirate hat for Thundertron.

Yeaaahhhh... I kinda forgot about that :oops: Might use Cybertron Brimstone afterall...

Main reason I'm putting them with my Classics is I'm over the Prime toys. Might grab one or two from the Beast Hunter line at some point, but not really interested atm. Also, I've never really bothered with the WFC and FOC lines. Got Shockwave for the Classics shelf, and after reading so much about them here, added the G2 coloured combaticon set to my BBTS PoL :HEADHURTS: It'd be great if they did release new Cannonball and Axer toys with beast alt modes.

I didn't even know about Axer until I read that TFW Thundertron review! How bad is that! :grin:

GDO Sandstorm would fit nicely, but, because of the way I'm mashing the two separate continuity's together I'm thinking of leaving Sandstorm for the Autobots (a 3P will appear at some point) and replacing him with someone else.

Someone was saying in a review that he is a cliche pirate, that's part of what I like about him. Thundertron with a pirate hat :-?

There is a few eBay auctions that you might be interested in;

Lockdown: here, here and here.

Axor.

There are quite a few others, some good deals are bound to pop up.

Actually, we only need a beast alt of Cannonball. Axer's a very spikey motorcycle, while the other four are beasts.

I'm going to wait this one out for a while, see if we get any 'official' release.
But I do think that PRiD Deadend might join the crew..

Not getting Cannonball, want to wait and see. Deadend is a good idea, he looks mental enough to fit.

Axor just arrived and is a really nice toy, definitely will be my permanent Axer. I don't like two wheelers (even tho I keep buying em #-o), so if a proper toy is released I'll pass. Fingers crossed that now we have Thundertron more will follow.

I picked up Cybertron Cannonball awhile ago, and he's great, so glad I snagged him! I really like the mold, despite the upper arm limitations, the transformation is very cool, you just don't see that kind of thing much. And I think I like the idea of Dead End having a place in the crew, so that makes three. :) Here's to hoping we get more of the Star Seekers in the near future!

Not only is that a cool pic, but what you did with Thundertron's weapon looks awesome!

I've got Red Alert, it is a fantastic mold, which is why I was thinking strongly about getting him, but going to keep hoping for a beastformer Cannonball :PRAY:

I have both Red Alert and Cannonball and they're a really good mold. It's great that even in Cybertron, Cannonball was a pirate. :lol:

I'm probably one of the few that wanted a Cannonball from the CDT Red Alert (another good mold). Then again, he's been milked a handful of times.

But Wreckloose is a cool guy :P Use the guy with a foot for a mouth for cannonfoddder! :lol: Looks like Undermine and Cruellock would suit your team there. :)

PRID Ratchet in a Canonball Deco needs to happen, it wouldn't suprise me if FunPub picked that up and ran with it at some point...

It's not a Transformer, but Garyun from Web Diver would certianly fit in with the Star Seekers:

I don't have the figure, but it looks awesome.

yeah, good luck finding him though.

I've little to know knowledge of the Star Seekers bar what I read on the wiki, and clearly some of that didn't fully penetrate, as I'd not remembered that they were all beasts. I'm using HFTD Axor, have Cannonball ordered (because he looks like a cool toy...although rather than a Ratchet repaint, how about just get a custom sticker set for Sirus Breakdown?) Dead End is a good addition, and I've had him partnering up with PRID Rumble, so maybe get the skull-chested guy in the group too.

FootForMouth is too awesome to be used as cannon fodder :P

Undermine and Cruellock would go well, but I'm hesitant to include toys that have appeared in past cartoons as in the future I'll want to display those toys with their original sets. Brimestone (for now) is the exception because he is just awesome :P

Been a long time since I've watched the Energon series (got the episodes recently but can't subject myself to that horror right now) and I can't even remember if Cruellock was in it.
