i did,if anything you need to stay on topic when replying to post made by others as it was you that mixxed things up here

I replied...
star trek voyager; uss prometheus could separate into 3 fighting ships

star trek ds9; uss defiant designed to combat the borg

st into darkness; USS Vengeance designed by khan

you then said...Actually it probably was Voyager with the futuristic ablative hull armor(Endgame)

i then said to you....
you might have a point.....
if the tech in question continued to function or even exists after the events of the episode

remember, old janeway faded away when things were done, so should the tech she brought with her

you followed that with.....Actually ablative hull armor did still exist! coz the Prometheus used it

so why would you be referring to STANDARD ablative hull armour when the topic and post you were replying to was clearly about the the futuristic ablative hull armor seen in the voyager episode Endgame?

why would you say that the STANDARD ablative hull armour "still exsisted" when no-one suggested it didnt?
on another note....and for those who may follow the fan series Star Trek Continues

a new episode is now up....on youtube
cool thanks

I just tripped over an Australian bloke on The Internet called "Mystic Spenny"

Anyone here heard of him? - he's got some strange views about the value of his own work - describing his drawings as everything positive under the sun and saying his space ship designs are better than anything ever done for Star Trek officially.

I watched an episode with my Aunt the other day. She came to visit and she likes old shows so we settled on Star Trek. I honestly hadn't seen anything other than the episode with the tribbles that my ex gf showed me.

It was a little weird but I did like it. There is a good emphasis on storytelling and science. The episode I was was had these telepathic people that dressed in white. They had a name but I can't pronounce it enough to spell it. They did some weird things with altering people's memories which was pretty creepy.

I'd be down to watch more. (Partially because I want to see Jeffery Combs since he voices Ratchet haha)

I am not sure what the argument was about, but I did want to bring out a couple things. One- I'm pretty sure Defiant's hull was aligned with ablative armor, as it was their only defense at one point when they were attacked by Jem'Hadar warships.

Two- It's never specifically stated that the tech goes out of existence. Admiral Janeway I remember was assimilated by the Borg, but I don't remember her "fading out of existence". Unless I missed something with her being blown up or some Trek-nobabble (it's been awhile since I've seen Endgame). I doubt it would, because it would create a grandfather paradox, but... that would make it supremely complicated. I would like to point out in the non-canon material (the book Star Trek: Voyager Homecoming), the future tech along with the Borg tech was too be ripped out of the ship for analysis.

Ablative armour that the defiant and Promethius used is different to what Voyager got from the future. Their armour is more like thick hull plating that gradually gets worn down from impacts, designed to be broken down without having the actual hull integrity being compromised. But once it's been worn out and gone, it's direct hits to the hull and then the ships get into trouble.

And Future Janeway never faded away. She was assimilated by the Borg, but then her virus screwed up the collective which meant she and most drones collapsed and died (it was implied). To my memory, Star Trek has never done the whole 'time travellers fade away when the timeline changed'. They've either died, gone back to the future or remained in the present.

Except for that one episode in TNG season 1 or 2, where we got a second Picard from the wormhole and the exploded Enterprise. He vanished when they broke free from the wormhole. But apparantly that was meant to be a test by Q (never stated on screen, but was author intent) so..... normal rules can't be reliably used.

Same. Not sure if I watched it properly the first time it aired (before the days of downloading) so it's a case of remembering and also not-remembering.

Point of discussion :

#StarTrek

Just for a laugh I decided to do a Youtube search for opinion videos about Politics in Star Trek and it seems some people thin the Federations is :
1) A post feminist civilisation (especially in TNG)
2) Communist (especially in TNG & Enterprise)
3) Fascist (especially in the JJ Movies & DS9)
4) Libertarian (especially in TOS)
5) Some other kind of dictatorship or heavily controlled society.

I used to think what would happen if someone refused to engage with the Civilisation - I think they'd get grabbed and shipped to New Zealand - this actually happened to Bones he was called back to the Enterprise using a Military emergency recall protocol (yes I know that happens now too).

Let alone I wonder what would happen in the case of political decent - for example in this civilisation in TNG the crew repeatedly interfered with random Human planets who were not federation members simply by use of force. such as dumping the space Irish on the Clones for example and just leaving. yet other times in Ds9 they'd refuse to take responsibility for their citizens abandoning them to the tender mercies of the Cardasians.

Sisko also blew up a whole biosphere and suffered no consequences to his career at all - not even a reprimand on his record - or some word to say he'd never make Admiral for doing that. If you do something that is so crazy even Worf is telling you not to do it nearly punches you in the face for doing it and only gets bullied down by the social pressure you are doing something wrong.

There is some interesting grey areas though like do nation states still exist on Earth they seem to in DS9 and TNG and yet Enterprise implies otherwise.

Also O'Brien is an interesting guy to watch too in how the command structure treats him as an enlisted Man - sometimes it's implied he can just walk off other times not.

There is certainly a very strong argument in favour of the JJ movies taking place in a Starship Troopers like Military dictatorship. it is just a matter of opinion which side of the horseshoe it's one is all with some people. At least Andromeda tried to explore these questions - Star Trek didn't really bother. it's part of a very long list of things we don't know about the Universe that the stories take place in as they are seen from a military "Starfleet" perspective. Which is odd when you consider we know more about the politics of the Stargate Universe in all respects and that is way more militaristic in tone.

[ I would in general trust Sg1 more than the Enterprise Crew though they are a bit less shifty and amoral in their actions across their respective franchises overall ]

Some of the videos are linked on my minds blog but can be found easily on Youtube
