Amethyst's human female avatar chuckled at Redwing's avatar blushing. To be honest, she didn't understand what a blush was, or why the hue of his fleshy hull was changing color but she decided that'd be something to look up.

‘I should look up a lot of things about these natives here.’, she had decided. It was best to understand your prey the best you could. They technically were prey right? After all, here her team was….giant aliens invading these people's planet. Yah...sounded like the himans or humans...whatever they were called, were prey.

"We'd better get to the transports before we're left behind.", Redwing said to her. He made a valid point. If they were left behind after volunteering, they'd be volunteering their afts to be scrapped instead.

“Yeah, you're right! Let's book it then! Race you! One...two, go!!”, she said, not counting to three. She took off sprinting like it was natural, her hologorm almost gliding across the sand, and she jumped onto the back of the humvee at the end of their party's caravan and swung herself through the open window and into an empty seat.

“Hello boys.”,she said with a snicker.

>>Come on Red, I thought your make was more advanced than mine. Shouldn't you be faster?<<

Waiting on Red, and purposely propping one leg up to cover the space next to her to preserve it for Redwing, she began downloading all sorts of information on these Earth fleshlings from their history to their cultures, and even their pop culture. Even in minutes, she began to become fascinated with them, for the fact that even though they were tiny and fragile, they had a similar sort of story to that of Cybertronians. They kept steadily evolving, building, coming up with technological advances rapidly, and they waged war for as long as they had existed. Unfortunately, it seemed they were sharing a similar fate. As the human populations rapidly increased, their governments became more radical and their lands were being depleted of resources. She frowned, thinking about the destruction of her homeworld. What would life had been like, if the war had never happened? If Cybertron were never destroyed by their war? Amethyst couldn't think about this more. She turned off her optics for a second and sighed before they brightened again...errr...her holomatter avatar blinked. Humans….interesting creatures. But….everything dies eventually, right?

‘Even us.’, she thought. It was a chilling thought though. She decided to think about the mission again and stop thinking about other stuff. The mission was all that mattered. Megatron would save the Cybertronian race. He had to, and she wouldn't forget her loyalty to the Empire.

The feline mechanoid known as Ravage had been silent during their trip so far, besides the comment he had made to Sixshot. Now though, the operations were beginning. The Seekers and a few others had secured the perimeters of their base of operations, an abandoned aircraft hangar within what. appeared to be a warehouse complex in a forgotten and mostly destroyed military base.

The black metallic cat made note of everything noteworthy, should Soundwave ask for information. Anything of value would be recorded and available for playback in cassette mode. Right now though, Ravage was just glad to not be cooped up on the Thanatos. He enjoyed missions such as this. To make it more worthwhile, he like many of the mechs who had joined this expedition, entered the holomatter device. He chose simply, a black house cat, whose eyes shown a vivid orange. His robotic jaguar form would rest near where Megatron was in the hangar, while his holomatter avatar ran for the humvee where Megatron was seated. The small and lithe cat form was silent, purrfection. He jumped into the humvee just before Megatron had closed the door and he settled into the seat next to the avatar of the aging, battle worn Russian man, meowing and resting in the seat against Megatron's lap.

The cat spoke then to his Lordship, “Please let me know when you need my assistance, My Lord. I am always happy to serve.”

Sixshot had followed Megatron out of the shuttle and remained by his side while the other Decepticons scouted the area and eliminated whatever flesh creatures they found nearby. There were a surprising number of meat sacks that were easily terminated by those whose power paled in comparison to the sixchanger’s own abilities. The STAG felt that killing these human germs was really beneath him even more so than most regular Cybertronians. It was far more important to remain close to the slagmaker just in case there was a repeat of the uncontrollable rampage that had previously occurred aboard the Thanatos.

Megatron wrote:>>"Infiltration team, we're heading into the city.”<<

Megatron’s newly generated holomatter avatar was a sight to behold. Sixshot could not recall having ever seen his lord produce one in the past and it had become clear that the sixchanger would need one, as well, if he were to accompany the slagmaker into the city. Megatron did say he wanted the STAG to become more familiar with the earlier stages of infiltration and this would be a good way to do just that.

As a result, Sixshot hooked himself into the holomatter generator and soon a small human male appeared at the phase sixer’s feet. His consciousness entered the avatar and gazed around at his surroundings. “Very intriguing,” Sixshot spoke through the mouth of the faux human. He looked down at his holomatter hands and body. It was a strange feeling as Sixshot had never utilized an avatar before. Of course, he never needed one as the STAG was always called in when a world had already entered Phase Six. By that time there was no need for avatars. This was a new experience to be certain, and the sixchanger wasn’t quite sure what to make of it yet.

“I’m not sure if I should be disgusted by my new form or not,” Sixshot remarked as he followed Megatron’s avatar into one of the vehicles in the middle of the convoy. The STAG’s avatar climbed into the back seat as Flamewar and Ravage sat up front with the slagmaker. “Being an organic, even a fake one, is rather odd for me, but also rather liberating at the same time. Does that make any sense?”

Megatron wrote:>>”Defensive positions, Decepticons. We will undoubtedly be watched by fleshlings from both sides of this conflict. Just as I have intended. Nevertheless, our transit into the city center may or may not be a smooth one.”<<

The convoy of humvees lurched forward towards the city as Sixshot sat back in his seat to enjoy the ride. He kept his new eyes focused out the windows for any potential attacks that could come from these fleshlings. The STAG’s avatar then noticed a weapon sitting on the seat next to him. He picked it up and looked it over in his fake fleshy hands. It was an AK-47 assault rifle.

“Is this what these creatures call a weapon?” Sixshot asked to no one in particular. “So primitive. Still, I guess it will work well enough against these humans’ frail bodies.”

Blackout sent back a silent affirmative, and back at the warehouse he moved outside before transforming into his helicopter alt mode, silently sitting out of line of sight of the roadway with intent to not attract attention from the fleshings.

In the Humvees, Blackout looked over the assembled Decepticons that shared the vehicle with him, taking note of what everyone looked like since they didn't have electronic signatures as their mechanoid forms had, he needed to know who was one of them, in case of humans being present.

---

Feint was also looking at the assembled Decepticons, but not for the same reason Blackout waa. Feint was assessing skills based on limited observation of his current teammates.

He did get bored quickly and shoved an elbow into Reaver. The jet-former's avatar didn't react. Fraaaaaggg. Reaver was such a bore.

"So..." He finally said out loud. "All I know about all of you is you are all seemingly talkitive and noisy." He said with sarcasm... And a smirk to let them know he didn't want them to take offense despite the fact that they all were rather noisy.

Amethyst wrote:“Yeah, you're right! Let's book it then! Race you! One...two, go!!”

Redwing opened his new human mouth to ask if it was necessary to race or do anything else foolish when Amethyst took off, looking far more coordinated than he felt.

He glanced around him to make sure everything was okay, then hurried after her. Before taking on this new form, he’d had some trepidations. None of which he’d been able to pin down until he saw how daunting their real forms were. Worse yet, he felt beyond helpless.

What if they were attacked in this form? What if their real bodies were found and damaged by a human or Autobot? What if… what if he ceased to function in this form? Would he be able to reenter his real self, or would his consciousness disperse and join the planet’s energy field?

Oh, I didn’t expect this. This is more than I can handle.

Amethyst wrote:>>Come on Red, I thought your make was more advanced than mine. Shouldn't you be faster?<<

Redwing groaned as he tried to reign in his growing fear and come up with a reasonable answer. It was bad enough she had helped him with his bunkmates, but to do so on an actual mission? With Megatron, no less?

He forced his energon pump to slow down as he responded, >>Heh, you’re a little more aerodynamic than I am now. I’m still getting used to this form.<<

He hoped she didn’t pick up on his nervousness, but by then he reached the convoy as they were pulling out, and hopped on.

He held onto a rollbar and slid into the interior. Seeing Amethyst had saved his place he nodded his thanks, then looked at the others. “Pretty amazing, don’t you guys think?”

~~~
Thrust’s plans had been far grander than being the last in the building to choose his holographic form. But last he was, after he left the missile launcher outside the structure for potential use, of course.
The process was simple enough, as he’d gone through it previously, to one extent or another.
In a matter of seconds, a shimmering form of a man wearing an aviator’s jacket and sunglasses appeared. He’d “studied” some of this world’s war documentaries and had chosen one from a documentary about fighter planes.
He felt an affinity for these people, as they were the Seekers of their own kind, of a sort. Still far inferior to himself or the others that had tagged along.
The sound of the vehicles’ engines starting caught his attention.
Ah, so Lord Megatron wishes me to make a grand entrance. He knows me well, Thrust thought as he ran toward the vehicles. More than showing off the abilities this new form undoubtedly offered, this gave him the perfect opportunity to show the younger mechs how a true warrior reacts under pressure. And there wasn’t a greater pressure than missing a mission led by the mighty Megatron himself.
He made it to the convoy in time, but his first attempt at grabbing hold of the side of one vehicle failed and he nearly fell face first into the dirt.
Somehow, he managed to regain his balance and with a final lunge, grabbed hold of the door and pulled himself inside, landing on one knee with a thud. The others glanced his way, some appeared annoyed and others curious. The other mechs he’d served with fore eons were easily recognizable, but two others were new. He couldn’t be certain, but he thought he recognized Redwing and Amethyst.
Seeing an opportunity, he immediately projected his enhanced persona. “Greetings, my fellow warriors. Onto victory we ride, do we not?”
It didn’t bother him when a couple looked away, shaking their heads of grumbling about something. Jealousy knows many appearances.
Amethyst wrote: “Hello boys.”
Thundercracker was about to respond when Redwing joined them.
Redwing wrote: “Pretty amazing, don’t you guys think?”
Revising his thoughts, Thundercracker nodded, saying, “Nice of have you both along.” Because of the enjoyment he got out of watching them make a spectacle of themselves in their efforts to join the convoy, he resisted pointing out that there were better way to test the dexterity of their holographic forms.
His previous plans to talk with Redwing about being careful what he said, especially with Megatron and Sixshot nearby came to his processor, but this was not the time or place to discuss something so delicate. He just hoped the mech had enough smarts to know to keep his opinions to himself.
Still, things like that tended to happen when mechs thought they were among friends. Or even their enemies, for that matter.
With that thought, he decided a quick warning may be necessary. As long as he worded it correctly. “This is a mission we don’t normally partake, so be sure to watch yourselves and blend in as much as possible. The slightest mistake could cost us all.”
There. A little blunt for his liking, but it was something that would be expected when dealing with mechs so young. Of course, there were those there that didn’t give them any leeway, and they were the truly dangerous ones.
Opening a channel to Skywarp, Thundercracker said, >>Warp, I really think we’re in for it this time. << He was interrupted by a commotion from one of the transports behind them and heard Thrust being Thrust. He groaned and messaged to Skywarp >>What was that you were saying about not being a babysitter?<<
Sometimes, he wondered how the Decepticon cause lasted this long.
~~~

Redwing’s mood shifted somewhat at Thundercracker’s tone and his hands clenched slihtly. Not that he was surprised, given his inexperience. Still, he wasn’t a rookie. He wouldn’t have been brought on this mission if he hadn’t proven himself, albeit to a lesser extent than others accompanying them.

Focusing on keeping his spark calm, he accepted the criticism in the way it was meant: to keep them alive.

He looked at Amethyst, and drawing strength from her, and not wanting her to become offended and jump to his defense in this case, he smiled.

Turning his attention back to Thundercracker and Skywarp, he nodded. “Understood — this mission is pretty wild. I won’t let you down. We’ve got your back.”

Whether the older Seekers took comfort in that he wasn’t sure, but it was the best he could do baring the worst case scenario happening.

The "young woman" was happy when her male counterpart had showed up, catching up with the transport vehicle in a similar fashion to how she had. She happily swung her holographic legs into a normal sitting position to make room for him, and she gave his "hippie rockstar" avatar a wink.

“Pretty amazing, don’t you guys think?”

"Oh yes. I think so! This is so exciting!", Amethyst said enthusiastically. Her avatar blushed at his. She couldn't help it. It was young love. To be honest, she couldn't even see the blush herself, so she had no idea she was doing it. Even if she could she wouldn't understand it.

“Greetings, my fellow warriors. Onto victory we ride, do we not?”

That was Thrust. Amethyst raised an eyebrow at the red conehead's avatar, but that soon turned into a toothy smile as she replied, "Welcome, Lieutenant Maverick." She recognized his avatar and gave a laugh. During her download of relevant Earth people information and media she'd watched the movie called Top Gun, albeit a thousand times quicker than a human could. It was obvious that Thrust also watched it. The avatar suited Thrust's ego for sure.

Looking about, she noticed this hummer was full of her Seeker brethren. What a lovely coincidence. It was her, Redwing, Thrust, Thundercracker, and Skywarp, plus whoever was driving. So...mini family reunion? 'At least I'm not drunk out of my wits this time.', she thought, feeling awkward but relieved. Usually though, when together on a mission, they'd be flying high above the targeted zone....not on the ground in earthly human disguises. This was going to be an all new kind of experience. The plus side was that it wouldn't involve any unwanted fiery explosions.....hopefully.

"Nice to have you both along.”

“This is a mission we don’t normally partake, so be sure to watch yourselves and blend in as much as possible. The slightest mistake could cost us all.”

Thundercracker had greeted them warmly, but made a very important point. They couldn't afford to frack this mission up. Amethyst didn't even want to try to think about failure, but it was worrisome and she couldn't help it. The last mission had went well in Oahu, sure, but she herself didn't get to see it through to fruition. She'd been too busy trying to prevent herself from dying after one of her engines imploded and she spun out and crashed, becoming a molten inferno thereafter. Blacking out, she didn't remember who her rescuer had been. Maybe it was someone here? Regardless, Amethyst's smile turned into a frown as she worried.

"Yah. I'll be on my best behavior this mission. I promise!", she replied to Thundercracker, and tried smiling again. Hearing Redwing's response, and him saying he had their backs....that was nice. It was comforting. At that, Amethyst sighed. She leaned back into her seat and relaxed best she could. She really wanted to rest her head on Red's shoulder...but that would be unprofessional and cause questions to arise. Avoiding mentioning of their Conjunx Endura was imperative. What would the others think if they found out? She didn't want to think about it.

Still, she did want to know something from Thundercracker and Skywarp though, about her origins. Better to ask now even if it might seem a little strange, right? There might not be a later. Actually, that was her worry talking. Of course there would be a later! However, she went ahead and "spoke" privately to them on a new channel, including Redwing in at as well, since he knew of it already,

>>So, I've decided that I am a fembot. You....don't think that's strange, right?", she asked and paused before adding, "After all....all of us Seekers were made Cold Constructed. What's to say my spark isn't female? I've always felt out of place in a male body. Like...a drone. I don't want to feel like that.<<

She waited for replies from her comrades, while she looked out the window at the dusty desert landscape. The war was proceeding. The next phase of action was upon them, and she'd have her part to play. This was a new type of assignment, on a new day, with a new outlook and a new identity. What awaited her and her team? What awaited the Decepticons? Hopefully victory.

As the Seekers went out of their way to make an entrance and starting 'pal-ing' around, Feint subconsciously fell back into his "habits" of sorting his ammo... Counting out and sorting each type of bullet he carried and making sure they were all in the proper places. He was not used to having to load the ammo himself, it provided a productive activity for him, as opposed to normally what it provided, which was an obsessive-compulsive habit. Eyes flicked to Reaver, who was sitting silently and simply observing... Or zoned out... Hard to tell with Reaver.

And Feint decided that he was not going to be able to poke Reaver into doing something (that only Feint would find extremely) fun. Probably for the best. He did land himself in a lot of trouble with his mouthy attitude.

---

Reaver's attention did briefly turn to the Seekers as they did their 'Seeker thing'. He ended up wishing he had brought a data pad, though, as he was feeling a bit off the information super highway and was really curious about this place they were in.

Finally, after what must have been a horrendous eternity to Feint, Reaver spoke. "Anyone catch the weather report?" He asked in his usual deadpan tone.

--

"Frag you're dull, Reaver." Feint muttered and Reaver internally smirked.

"Good. I would hate to think you took pleasure in seeing through the eyes of such a primitive lifeform, Sixshot. Like a human finding joy in seeing through the eyes of a cockroach. Intriguing for a few minutes, perhaps...but let the prospect of them remaining in that form forever enter their mind and I suspect their level of intrigue would decrease substantially," Megatron said with a smirk as he surveyed the vehicle carrying the human armaments followed a separate track from their convoy.

“Is this what these creatures call a weapon? So primitive. Still, I guess it will work well enough against these humans’ frail bodies," Sixshot continued.

"One of their better ones," Flamewar said, looking over the weapon Sixshot held.

"Such overkill. Particularly when you can kill a human with nothing more than a stick. Even so, I'll happily give them the means to-"

The front of the convoy erupted in a fiery explosion.

At the sound of the explosion Feint was diving for cover and his avatar raised his real self (in rifle mode) to look out the Humvee's window so he could assess the situation. His first thought went to Autobots attacking, he began loading an acid tipped round into his chamber for melting armor.

The smoke was temporarily obscuring his view, though. His avatar frowned slightly. "I can't see yet." He said evenly, seemingly unshaken from the events, and switching out the scope from the night sight.

---

Blackout was in motion almost instantly as well. He was half standing, half kneeling on the seat, back pressed against the frame of the Humvee. He had whipped out a machine gun while getting into position. The Avatar's eyes fixed on Feint as the sniper was peering through his high powered scope.

---

Reaver froze for a moment before becoming a less visible target., He pushed back in his seat and took out a handgun. He just was used to being above explosions that his reaction was momentarily confused..
He couldn't take flight and go above the scene to scout out the cause... Very weird for him.

Noticing Feint switch out his scopes, he reached over and took the nightsight from the sniper's hand and tucked it into Feint's scope case attached to the avatar's belt for when Feint needed it again.

Redwing smiled, pleased they were finally able to do something that required action, and hopefully not under the scrutiny of the more experienced Seekers. I just need to avoid doing something stupid to draw attention to me. It shouldn’t be hard, who knows we’re here any… way…

The thought drifted off at seeing amethyst’s face darken into a reddish color. He wanted to ask if she was okay when she said,
Amethyst wrote: "Welcome, Lieutenant Maverick.”

At that, his question was forgotten and his expression shifted to one of curiosity. Who’s Lieutenant Maverick?

That was when he noticed Thrust, and he swallowed what he was about to ask his beloved. He was the last mech he wanted to see after Redwing bailed him out with that psycho-con. What was his name? Roadwork? Ground… pounded? No, that was Thrust’s insult. I’ll get it… it’s

“I feel the need for speed, my protégé. Are you ready to enter the Danger Zone?” Thrust was anything but quiet. He threw his arms out, motioned to Amethyst, and said, “Fear not, brothers, I shall ensure Amethyst follows my lead and becomes a warrior we can all be proud of.”

“And you, warrior,” he said to Redwing, “what a pleasure it must be to ride into battle with such legendary warriors. I envy you — both of you — with this experience. It’d bring an energon tear to my optics if I was capable of such trivial outbursts”

Redwing smiled and nodded. It was the only thing he could think to do to move on from this awkward exchange. He had no problem being one of the guys, it was just that the guys rarely wanted to understand him.

~~~
Thundercracker watched the exchange between Redwing and Amethyst with a mix of curiosity and concern.
Please, tell me Warp and myself didn’t act like that. It’s beyond embarrassing.
Amethyst wrote: "Yah. I'll be on my best behavior this mission. I promise!"
Grateful for the change in topic, Thundercracker nodded. It was the answer he expected, but he could tell Amethyst meant it. He hadn’t witnessed the mech in combat, but his propensity for self-inflicted injury was nearly as well known among the Seeker ranks as Thrust’s ego. And with just as much annoyance.
That brought his attention to the aptly named Redwing sitting next to Amethyst. Thundercracker was pleased to see he had toned down his colors in this form. He doubted an orange, red, or whatever bright color he could’ve chosen would have benefited them. The two were young and inexperienced, and that was as much a liability as asset. Sometimes it was better to be too young and dumb to know what couldn’t be done. Given their current mission, he was grateful they wouldn’t be canon fodder. Though their inexperience was bothersome.
Then there was Thrust. He was definitely an acquired taste, and him taking an interest in these two didn’t sit well with him, but there wasn’t much he could do. That didn’t mean he wouldn’t try.
“We have met; they have proven themselves in battle, and I’m sure they can learn a great deal from you… on how to avoid being injured.”
As he thought, Thrust looked to take it as a compliment as he sat back, looking as pleased as ever.
At least, he’s out of the way for the moment. Though, maybe it’d be better to let him burn off some energon?
Thundercracker didn’t have a chance to debate his question when a message came through from Amethyst.
Amethyst wrote: >>So, I've decided that I am a fembot. You....don't think that's strange, right?", she asked and paused before adding, "After all... all of us Seekers were made Cold Constructed. What's to say my spark isn't female? I've always felt out of place in a male body. Like...a drone. I don't want to feel like that.<<
Thundercracker’s optics widened, but more from the sudden announcement than the topic. It was an interesting question, and one he hadn’t thought about before. There were either femmes or there weren’t. At least, to his knowledge.
He found himself with a renewed curiosity toward him… her, he corrected himself, and Redwing. Judging from Redwing’s widened optics, he hadn’t been expecting this communication either, or at least, for it to come out now.
After taking a few astroseconds to process everything, he shrugged and sent back, >>There have been a few. Never heard of one just deciding to switch before.<<
He was at a loss for what else to say and felt it easier to leave it at that.
When the explosion came, Thundercracker resisted the immediate urge to transform. Doing that would violate the mission parameters, besides, it wouldn’t make much of a difference given his current form.
“Autobots! Decepticons, we’re under attack!” Thrust leapt from his seat as the Humvee suddenly jerked and threw him into the side, knocking him onto the floor and becoming entangled in the various legs.
Redwing put an instinctive arm in front of Amethyst to keep her from being launched forward.
Dreadnaut had stayed quiet the entire time, ever since having joined the convoy. In the driver’s seat of one of the vehicles, he’d been watching. Observing. Watching and observing. He was here alone, in the middle of a small crowd. Some seekers in the nearby vehicles were going on and on about unimportant matters. Unimportant to the tower, anyway.
Megatron and Sixshot had their own reservations about their fleshling human avatars. They did not bother Dreadnaut, nor did they incite any sense of mercy in him. They were simply another living being, much like the countless other species he had encountered in his lifespan. This was just one of many. They, too, shall pass.
He knew he hadn’t come here for the perpetual destruction of the human world. They had wars of their own. They had infighting and civil battles of their own too. Just like us. They had had thousands of historical conflicts, just like Cybertron. They had had assassinations of political figures, just like Cybertron. They had vices and systems of beliefs which categorised actions as morally or ethically correct or wrong, virtues and sins, and all these other ways to divide society, such as the paint of their fleshy chassis, or the sculpt of one’s body. Just like Cybertron. Oh, how this reminded him of the functionists’ caste system. It reminded him all too well of it.
But Dreadnaut was not the kind to only stop after looking at the negatives. No, there must be hope for salvation in this species. They had arts of all kinds, visual, theatrical, choreographed and musical, just like Cybertron used to. They had infrastructure and technology far beyond anyone in their direct star system, just like Cybertron used to. They had large, organised structures of workflow and efficiency, governments that controlled economic variables, just like Cybertron used to.
Just like Cybertron used to.
Used to.
Dreadnaut’s thoughts would be stopped in their tracks as an explosion suddenly occurred, with no prior warning. Swerving his humvee sharply to one side, he felt the charring and burns on his holomatter’s skin. The tall Iraqi-esque man was now slowly being melted away by the thermal energy released by the explosion.
One of the seekers, a red one, naturally started to panic.
“Crossfire,” was the single word that escaped the human’s voice, in a localised accent. The others would have to know. This was it. The point of no return.
Now they were truly playing on foreign territory.
Ravage chuckled, listening to Sixshot. It was clear he had disdain for the flesh creatures, same as everyone else here (or so he hoped). The feline then threw in, “Or the fact that many of the creatures that live here can slay a human quite easily. They just believe they're superior. We'll show them…”, Ravage cut himself off. A blast shook their vehicle. He hissed and arched his back, standing up in holoform Megatron's lap.
“Shall I investigate this, My Lord?”, he asked the esteemed Decepticon Leader.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Near the back of the convoy, in the hummer with the Seekers, Amethyst giggled at Thrust's antics. The mech was always in a seemingly good mood, so full of determination and spirit. Thundercracker mentioned to Thrust about how he could teach her and Redwing about not getting injured. Amethyst gritted her teeth at that one. Injury….it happened a lot to Amethyst and it was mostly self inflicted. If anyone could prevent her from hurting herself, they deserved a medal.
Then Thundercracker had replied privately to Amethyst's declaration of independent identity, and Amethyst replied,
>>I guess there's a first for everything.<<
Not even a nanoklik later there was a blast from a huge explosion coming from ahead of their convoy. Much like Thundercracker, Amethyst had instinctively felt the urge to transform, but nothing happened because….her mind was in this Terran holoform. However, she did draw her flamethrower, getting it ready to spray flames on the assailants. Her optics shifted every which way as she thought, ‘Slaggin Autobots! Where are they, where are they?!’
Redwing's arm had held her back from launching forward in her seat. That was nice. She'd just noticed because her instinct to fight had overcome her own personal safety. If it wasn't for him she'd have smacked into the seats in front of her, much like Thrust had.
“Oh Thrust...come on big guy.”, Amethyst thought. She reached down to help the red conehead up, well...the red conehead's “alter ego”.
“Well here we go boys. Come on, orders. I wanna light em up!!”, Amethyst roared with enthusiasm, a bloodthirsty look in her eyes. She would heed the call to battle.
After Redwing made sure Amethyst was well grounded, he hopped up from his seat and drew his rifle. Or at least, his avatar did. Normally Redwing was a fairly subdued guy, but in the heat of battle or when he felt his companions (and especially his conjunx) were in danger, his demeanor was anything but.
"Stay behind me, Am. Someone's gonna get fragged- er, ******, and it ain't gonna be any of us."
Redwing speedily yet methodically checked his weapon and made sure it was loaded, and then stepped out of the vehicle, while pointing his weapon every which way, spotting every possible hiding spot in their surroundings for an enemy. This wasn't a sniper job of course, he knew Earth tech wasn't advanced enough to cause that kind of damage without being a large weapon. But he kept his optics- er, eyes sharp for any snipers anyway.
"This side looks clear so far. Keep your eyes peeled, they'll make themselves known. Let's be sure to greet them kindly. Amethyst, watch my six. And I need someone to watch the skies."
“We hold off on firing for now.” Onslaught stated, rising from his chair following Viper’s assessment of what was possibly out there in the atmosphere, “Continue to assess for now, we have to maintain our level of stealth as to not jeopardize Lord Megatron’s operation. Bring us in to the drop zone, then contract Megatron and let him know we’re dropping off the cargo.”
”As promised, gents, I brought back refreshments. Dealing with Seekers drains the energon, does it not?”
And there was Swindle, the mech who puts the con in Decepticon, returning back to the bridge with a tray of refreshments after following Starscream to the med bay. Onslaught took one of the packs and slid back his protective mouthplate before quickly throwing the Energon back like he was trying to quickly refuel in the trenches.
“That’s one way of putting it. Thanks Swindle.” Onslaught responded wiping his faceplate before his black mouthplate quickly sealed back shut. His visor shifted back towards the resident tank-former. “Brawl, you up to helping throw some Seekers off our ship?”
Onslaught then took his leave from the bridge and headed towards the med bay.
Blast Off kept on course. It had basically taken no time at all to return from the dusty red planet to the "base of operations". Like Viper and Brawl, the brownish colored space warrior had wanted very much to shoot the small Autobot vessel out of it's orbit. However, the mission directive didn't include attacking enemies on the way back into the Earth's atmosphere.
With a bit of a sour taste in the back of his throat, he continued his piloting of their ship. Their destination was upon them. Coming to the skies above the barren desert, Blast Off began to slow the vessel and prepared for the drop, as Onslaught went to the medibay to retrieve their troublesome quarry and Swindle came around with beverages.
"Ah...thanks a bunch, Swindle. I was gettin' kinda dry.", said Blast Off, as he took one of the glasses and drank down It's contents heartily.
"Guess we'll be done here in just a few short kliks. Then....we report to Shockwave. How do you guys feel about that?", Blast Off asked the other Combaticons. He himself would do as he was told regardless, but he felt nervous about it (not that he'd really express much nervousness though).
Of all the stupid things I could’ve done. I should’ve remained behind, where I could be of use, Dessicator thought as he sat quietly in the transports with a few others. Too many, for his liking. Worse yet, he found his “chosen” form to be… paunchier than the others. It made sense, given his usual size, but he was far from proportioned properly.
He couldn’t but twitch in his seat, wondering if Flamewar would approve of his avatar. From what he had seen of himself after transferring his functions, he didn’t think he was battleworthy, and that was what mechs like Flamewar and Megatron appreciated.
Should’ve stayed back as artillery like I’m designed for.
No sooner had the thought entered her mind, than an explosion rocked the convoy.
Rocking forward, he lunged for the door. It was bad enough he’d had to fight against his energon lust with so many of his fellow Decepticons in such close proximity. He just hoped none of them got in his way.
Hefting his grenade launcher, he grabbed the door handle, turned it, and shoved. He didn’t pause to think as he leapt out of the vehicle and scanned the area. He was so used to the armor of his true form, he remained standing, his grenade launcher at the ready.
Thundercracker wrote:“Not too shaby yourself, Skywarp. Being a fleshlings suits you.”
“Bite me,” Skywarp’s avatar said as he gave an intense glare over at his long time friend. The teleporter knew that Thundercracker was only joking around with him and ‘Cracker would know that ‘Warp was just joking back with his own comment. After all these vorns of being close friends, the two elite seekers knew how to “insult” one another without really insulting each other.
Amethyst and Redwing soon joined them in the same humvee, which already had Skywarp, Thundercracker and Thrust inside. This had definitely become the seeker humvee. The prankster mostly ignored the banter between Amethyst and Redwing, deciding instead to look out the window at the surrounding terrain which was mostly half-destroyed buildings and other assorted rubble.
Thundercracker wrote:>>Warp, I really think we’re in for it this time. What was that you were saying about not being a babysitter?<<
It was his blue friend’s comm that brought Skywarp back to what was happening in their humvee. The other seekers certainly needed to be looked after, but the teleporter wasn't going to be the one to do it.
>>”Well, I ain’t going to be their babysitter. They’re on their own as far as I’m concerned. If they get into trouble, I’m not letting them bring me down with them.”<<
Amethyst wrote:>>So, I've decided that I am a fembot. You....don't think that's strange, right? After all....all of us Seekers were made Cold Constructed. What's to say my spark isn't female? I've always felt out of place in a male body. Like...a drone. I don't want to feel like that.”<<
Amethyst’s babbling caused Skywarp to face palm himself. These younger seekers certainly were a handful, not to mention a bit on the peculiar side. Still, ‘Warp decided that he didn’t want to insult him/her so he would just be nice.
>>”If you want to be a femme, Amethyst, I supposed you could hop into a CR chamber and have it reformat you. Those things change alt modes, why not….other things.”<<
Just then an explosion rocked the front of the convoy. They were under attack. “Fraggit! Is it the Autobots? No, probably not around here. It must be the humans. Whoever they are, they’re going to pay for attacking us! Let’s go ’Cracker! Time for battle!” Skywarp’s avatar then hopped out of the seekers’ humvee and immediately opened fire in several directions where he thought he saw movement. “Die human scum! DIE!!”
Streets of Aleppo – Megatron’s Humvee
Megatron wrote:"Good. I would hate to think you took pleasure in seeing through the eyes of such a primitive lifeform, Sixshot. Like a human finding joy in seeing through the eyes of a cockroach. Intriguing for a few minutes, perhaps...but let the prospect of them remaining in that form forever enter their mind and I suspect their level of intrigue would decrease substantially.”
“Indeed it would, my lord,” Sixshot responded to Megatron with a chuckle. “The cockroach analogy is quite appropriate. Heh.”
Both Flamewar and Ravage then made comments, but before the STAG could offer a reply to either of them an explosion rocked the front of the convoy. “Talk about overkill,” Sixshot said, mainly in reference to Flamewar’s previous remark. “These human creatures are crazy. They deserve to die as quickly as possible.”
After Ravage offered to investigate, Sixshot provided his own suggestion. “Just give the word, Lord Megatron, and I will accompany Ravage and use this primitive weapon to eliminate any flesh sacks that try to attack us again.”
As Redwing jumped from the Humvee, Feint reached out to stop him but it was too late... Then... Dessicator jumped out too... And Skywarp too?
"Frag!!" He shouted after them.
--
Blackout was having a similar reaction to the bravado filled trio of Decepticons. "No one else leave the Humvee." He said sternly. "We don't know what's out there."
---
>>"You three just made yourselves targets and a liability."<< Feint said over the comms. >>"If there's snipers out there, that's exactly what they want you to do."<<
He had to remind himself that those three were simply holograms, and could suffer no casualties, Feint's instincts were having to be overwritten by uncontrollable circumstances. It made him nervous though, as they were safe back in the warehouse... And he was not, and he worried over their reactions in combat situations. However he kept his optics in the scope.
"Of course if it's Autobots... And they think we're human... We're fine for the moment" He muttered.
Thrust stared at Amethyst’s outstretched hand.
Me accept help from one I’m teaching? The idea of such a thing burned his circuits worse than being upstaged by the Autobots, but he needed to maintain this one’s respect and trust.
Grunting, he pushed himself to his feet mostly on his own, only taking Amethyst’s hand as a show of respect and appreciation for the offer. “Thank you, warrior. It is times like these that form the bonds of comradeship.”
Standing, he glanced around to see who all noticed his momentary equilibrium disruption (not to mention who was left inside the Humvee) and said, “This new form is proving… interesting.”
Amethyst wrote: “Well here we go boys. Come on, orders. I wanna light em up!!
With an improved vigor, thanks in part to Amethyst, he called out, “Let us show these others how a war is raged, warriors!”
Without another word, he stepped out of the vehicle, his weapon at the ready as he scanned the area around them. “Come out, come out, little Autobots,” he mumbled as Amethyst and Redwing took their positions.
~~~

Skywarp wrote: >>”Well, I ain’t going to be their babysitter. They’re on their own as far as I’m concerned. If they get into trouble, I’m not letting them bring me down with them.”<<

Skywarp’s message replayed in Thundercracker’s processor as he chastised himself for his instinctual hesitation while the others, leapt into action. Including the youthful Redwing. Trying to prove himself, no doubt.

Was that a bad thing?

Depending on if he gets himself killed, he thought, once again bringing to mind the science behind transferring their consciousness into their holomatter forms. It was an intriguing question, but one better left for another time.

Thundercracker had no intention of allowing himself or the others to test that theory, especially at the hands of these fleshbags.

Skywarp wrote: “Fraggit! Is it the Autobots? No, probably not around here. It must be the humans. Whoever they are, they’re going to pay for attacking us! Let’s go ’Cracker! Time for battle!”

The excitement in his friend’s voice brought a smile to Thundercracker’s face. Some things never changed, and Skywarp was one he was grateful for. “Reminds me of the old days on Cybertron.” The nostalgia feeling was odd given they were entering a battle, but contorling whims of fancy was harder than expected, even under intense circumstances. This will be the first true test if the real Megatron is back. For our sakes, I hope he is.

He stood and followed Skywarp, his weapon at the ready. As he spotted Thrust, he shook his head. “An interesting strategy. Still adjusting,” he muttered, then jumped out of the Humvee to join the growing number of Decepticons taking their positions.

Skywarp wrote:“Die human scum! DIE!!”

Seeing his comrades as humans acting like they normally would, sent a shiver through his spark as he had to fight back his urge to transform and take to the air. Suddenly, his processor came to a similar conclusion as Feint had, and he quickly reengineered his desire save his comrades from testing their invulnerability by focusing on the mission parameters.

Opening a channel to the rest, he said, >>“Decepticons, get behind cover! If the humans discover our holographic matrix, our ruse won’t last.<<

Onslaught wrote:“That’s one way of putting it. Thanks Swindle.”

Swindle nodded and said, “Always a pleasure. I could use a few of these myself after hearing Starscream’s inane banter for so long. And that voice!”

Swindle kept smiling as he watched Onslaught leave the bridge to do whatever it was he did, and continued to make his rounds on the bridge. Few things he did were trusted, even by his fellow Combaticons, and for good reason, he guessed. It wasn’t that he’d betray then or anything, far from it. He would, however, use them to further any deals or agendas he had in the works. They were a good bunch to have in your corner when whatever authorities came looking for him.

Those mechs generally lacked a sense of humor or personality (Much like those on this bridge. Ironic, ain’t it? he thought), but the Combaticons had learned to appreciate his talents. For that, he couldn’t think of a place he’d rather be than with them. Unless, of course, an interesting enough deal came along.

Like the vague opportunity he had mentioned to Starscream. Sure, it’d been a ruse, but that didn’t mean something wasn’t out there, waiting for him to find it. Still, it was why he took such great pains in studying everyone’s station as he passed by. Except for Onslaught. He never left anything out for him to peruse, and that was a maddening challenge Swindle intended to overcome one of these cycles.

He paused at Blast Off’s station so the space warrior could accept his energon.

Blast Off wrote: “Ah...thanks a bunch, Swindle. I was gettin' kinda dry."

“Of course,” Swindle responded. “It wouldn’t do to allow ourselves to run low following a successful mission, would it? Granted, it was low risk given our talents.”

Blast Off wrote: "Guess we'll be done here in just a few short kliks. Then....we report to Shockwave. How do you guys feel about that?"

Swindle’s optics widened slightly at hearing that. Shockwave? He wouldn't be mad about that... Nah, it's got to be something else. Pushing the thought aside, he said, “We’re reporting to Shockwave? What about?”

This is why I shouldn’t have left the bridge. Starscream, you owe me another one if I’m in trouble. Again.

The explosion had sent the first vehicle careening off the street in flames, crashing into a nearby building. Megatron's transport took on some of the blast as well, but the facsimile driving kept the vehicle from following suit. The explosion had knocked both Megatron and Flamewar's avatars out of position but they quickly regained it.

"As I said, there was a good chance we would draw attention. I expected no better from these fleas," Megatron said as he angled the avatar to get a better look out of the window as the convoy had come to a halt. His Decepticon warriors were responding, unsurprisingly, like the warriors he had trained them to be since the gladiator days. In this instance, however, their foe was barely worth their notice, even as the sound of machine gun fire began to ripple through the air outside and--in some cases--pelt the vehicles directly.

“Shall I investigate this, My Lord?” Ravage asked. Always one of his best infiltrators. But wasted talent, in this scenario.

"Ravage. This is standard operating procedure in this region. Nothing to learn. But we do have something to prove," Megatron said, his avatar reaching for a long-range, automatic rifle of the type that was amongst the resources that he was intending the proliferate across this region and smashing out the window next to him.

“Just give the word, Lord Megatron, and I will accompany Ravage and use this primitive weapon to eliminate any flesh sacks that try to attack us again.”

"Do it. Our contacts had hoped for a demonstration. I'm pleased to see the natives did not disappoint me," Megatron's avatar said, before eyeing a particular building ahead and unloading the weapon's first clip of ammunition into the wall beside the uppermost window.

Even though this avatar put him in no physical danger, he felt the familiar rush of battle, like the orn before the Fall of Helex and countless other battles. It wasn't quite like the real thing. But it was good enough.

Onslaught entered the med bay with Brawl and Viper hopefully not too far behind him, his fists clenched and itching for some kind of fight. He had to steel his temper for now, but what was about to come was something he was yearning to do ever since they picked up this miserable lot. The combaticon commander approached Starscream’s CR Chamber, his amber visor scanning over the console display attached. Looks like he still had a long while left on the clock to repair all the damages he had sustained on that red rock. Unfortunately for him he wasn’t going to experience the full cycle, the Combaticons were on a tight schedule. Onslaught keyed in the cancelation command and disengaged the emergency release. The pod opened with a sharp hiss and once again he was face to face with the seeker commander.

“Time’s up,” He stated cold and bluntly “Now get out.” Without giving the seeker commander a chance to collect himself or get out on his own, Onslaught grabbed Starscream by the area where his neck met the cockpit area of his alt mode and threw him out of the Cr Chamber to the floor. The blue and green Decepticon folded his arms over his chest plate and awaited the shrill response he was surely about to get. Once Brawl and Viper did the same to Screamer’s goons, then they could escort them to the bounce chamber to oversee the hand off with Lord Megatron.

Skies Over Syria- Obliteration- Medi Bay

“Fellow Decepticons, esteemed citizens of the Cybertronian race, today marks a new and momentous day in our history.”, Starscream began serenading in a superfluous speech before the survivors of the Decepticon ranks and the captured remnants of the Autobots.

“Here I stand before you, humbled by the events of which have transpired here on this newly Cyberformed Earth. It was not an easy war. We fought for many long vorns against the Autobots, to secure the future of our people and ensure our survival as the apex species in all the universe.”, he spoke in his scratchy voice. The Seeker Commander strutted to and fro on the makeshift stage before his people, looking at them, surveying their expressions and noting their injuries but that most were full of pride and attentiveness, and even looked happy.

He came to a still again and spoke eloquently, one hand held to the sky with an open palm, one hand over his spark chamber, “Rejoice, Decepticons and Captives alike! The war is OVER!!!” And the crowd cheered and the Autobots looked utterly defeated in their restraints. Starscream smiled victoriously, a serene and devilish grin. The Decepticon banner waved behind him in the wind, the very symbol of Peaceful Tyranny. Now, there would be a whole new meaning to that, as one age faded and a new one was on the horizon.

“I, Starscream of Vos promise to you, with this rich and abundant form of energon here and our newly constructed space bridge, Cybertron will be reborn again, and we can live at last in peace. Remember and honor those who have fallen in the many battles. I shall never forget Megatron, our previous leader. As glorious as he was, he was blind to see that he could not conquer the universe in his way. He was too fond of the strategies from antiquity, which just repeated the same failures time in and time out. But let us remember him fondly, for he cared for us all, and entrusted me upon his death, to take up the mantle of leadership.”

There was a mixture of cheering and booing in the crowd. Starscream frowned at the booing, but he kept his composure. This was his moment of triumph! He had done it at last! He would be the one to lead the Cybertronian race into a new era, and rule over them all as their supreme authority.

With that, he motioned for the band to begin playing. The music would quell the riot before it could begin. He then motioned for Astrotrain and Blitzwing to bring forth his ceremonial garments, and most importantly, his regal imperial crown.

“Your Grace.”, said Blitzwing, as he placed the pauldrons of purple and gold upon his shoulders and attached the flowing purple cape.

“Your Majesty.”, said Astrotrain as Starscream knelt to receive the crown that marked him as ruler of all Cybertron.

Starscream than stood tall and immaculate, and began again before a crowd that he could tell, saw him in a new light, “ALL HAIL S….”

“STARSCREAM!!!”,roared the unmistakable furious voice of Megatron as he forced his way angrily through the crowds and up towards the stage before transforming mid-air into the form of a Walther P38 and unleashing an enormous plasma blast upon his traitorous insubordinate officer.

…….

“AGGHHHHHH!!!”, Starscream screamed in horrific terror, waking from his dream in a state of shock before his processor could catch up and register what was really going on. The look on his face was surely precious to Onslaught. Starscream looked as though he'd come face to face with death itself.

His chassis clattered to the floor loudly as the larger Combaticon Commander had chucked him from the security of his CR chamber. The Seeker was still dripping with CR fluid. He checked his diagnostics. He'd not fully recovered yet, but he'd be well enough to fly again finally. Compared to his cohorts who had been with him on the red planet, he was considerably well off.

Still, being ripped from an unfinished CR session was beyond rude! His anger pulsed throughout his body, invigorating him and bringing him to full alert. He got up from the floor, and glared furiously at the green and blue mech, yelling, “You wretched fiend! Can't you let an injured mech finish a healing cycle?! Where's your sense of compassion for your fellow Decepticons?!”, he said pointing at him, seething anger through gritted teeth. Though, as much as he wanted to shoot him, he held back, knowing it'd only make things worse. That didn't mean he'd let Onslaught take what dignity he had left for himself, though. Also noting Brawl and Viper, he knew they'd be ejecting his fellow Seekers from their CR chambers as well.

“You vicious brutes!!”, he roared in defiance.

[Syrian Airspace - Decepticon Frigate Obliteration]

Onslaught wrote:“Continue to assess for now, we have to maintain our level of stealth as to not jeopardize Lord Megatron’s operation. Bring us in to the drop zone, then contract Megatron and let him know we’re dropping off the cargo.”

“Gotcha, chief.” Viper keyed in some codes, fixing the scanners onto those signals. He’d come back to these later. For now, there was some trash that was in need of taking out. Viper grabbed some of the Energon Swindle had nicely brought along, downed it in one go, and pulled up his faceplate.

Just before he could exit for the medbay, he heard something about having the Combaticons report to Shockwave. Tch, one eyed freak science experiment. Looks like they’re in for a helluva time.

The medbay smelled good in some way. Seeker metal. Fresh for the reaping. He picked out one of the seekers, the one called Vertigo, and like Onslaught before him, punched in the cancellation override. Before the pod even finished opening all the way, Viper thrust his arm inside and reached for the poor fool.

Viper pulled the Seeker towards himself, bringing him inches from his face. “Ain’t lookin’ so pretty with your fancy Seeker wings now, are ya?”, he hissed in his trademark style of speech, followed by a low chuckle.

He flung Vertigo over his shoulder, onto the floor right next to Starscream. “Time to VertiGo, hehe,” he smirked.

Starscream wrote:“You vicious brutes!!”

“Tch. Megatron’s waitin’ on a delivery, pal sir. Goods have to be delivered on time for “customer satisfaction”, eh?”

He waited for Onslaught to begin the proceedings before causing the poor seeker any more harm than he already had. He was quite enjoying being with the Combaticons. Ain’t gonna be dealin’ with any o’that Seeker bogus just ‘cause he had wings too. He was a deadly pit viper who was right at home amongst the snakepit that were the Combaticons.
