However, even if it's true, I don't believe most TF collectors are really interested in smut in their pack in comics. They buy the toys because of the toys. Sikomofo just has more leeway to draw infantile pictures because it's probably NOT being looked at by most people in Japan. Also, like I said, I think be there age given for the toys is only a suggestion, and not a legal system, such as "Ages 3+" used in the UK/US, etc.

What would be interesting is to see the actual legal age limit that these toys can be sold to.

Just a few more facts to answer some questions laid eariler, while earlier Legends releases were available at retail, our japanese correspondant, who shops at Japanese retail, can no longer find them at any retailer. He now only gets them on amazon. The Unite Warrior figures however, were still available at TRU the last time they were issued (and with recomended age of 15). The later ones of course were only at TTMall.

I am assuming that the inclusion of Unite Warrior figures like Thrust in the Legends comic means that both comics/toylines share a continuity in some sense, right? Not that any of the Unite Warrior comics came with the figures, aside from a 1 page panel that didnt have anything too daring.

So yeah it would seem these comics are indeed intended for an audience even older than the one our site caters to.

I'm sorry, you've lost me there.

As for shop availability, from only my own experience in Japan, I've only seen them online at Amazon and HLJ and at Toys R Us Japan online:

I can't confirm seeing any of the recent legends toys in the actual bricks and mortar shops, though, but availability of TF toys in real shops has usually been low for me.

Well, both the Legends and the Unite Warriors fictions are done by the same guy, so it makes sense for him to feature some overlap between the two.

The first time he did this was with the Legends comics for Gelshark and the first Black Convoy toy, in which the two of them ended up leaving the Legends World together on a mission, which the two of them continued when they reappeared in the second Unite Warriors comic for Baldigus (who ended up joining the two of them), and then all three returned in the Legends comics for the second Black Convoy toy.

With these more recent Legends comics, Thrust, Trickdiamond, Sky Lynx and his team, the Aerialbots, Lunaclub, Moonheart, and Starscream all appearing in the Legends World comes after all their appearances in the Unite Warriors comics, so Sakamoto is using both fictions to tell a grander scale of stories across both.

Can someone post some links to the Perceptor and Octane comics so I can be the judge here? I have a feeling those of you who think it's NSFW are overreacting. We didn't censor Kiss Players, and I doubt this is anything that pushes the boundaries from what was printed in Kiss Players manga or products.

Thanks for posting. However, just because you didn't censor something else, doesn't mean that it wasn't unsuitable then nor now. I actually showed those comics to my Japanese girlfriend, who in turn showed them to her PTA group. They all agreed that they were not suitable for kids, especially in a pacm in comic with toys being sold with them.

To put it in context, the comics are not shown at tfw2005 now, as they contravene their rules ("no nudity or sexual content").

Obviously, a website is different to a toy, so context is key, but those of us who are against this are not overreacting. We are simply reacting and include both Japanese and non-Japanese people.

And they are NSFW. If a Japanese colleague caught me looking at these comics, on my break, in Japan, eyebrows would be raised.

Thanks for your time.

LG56 Perceptor --

LG57 Octane --

- [Page 1] - [Page 2] - [Page 3] - [Page 4] - (from prime roller)

And here's the summary for just Perceptor's comic (Octane's comic hasn't been summaried yet):

Having heard that the Legends World was created by the Zamojin, Perceptor travels to the dimension in search of his old friend, Katsu Don, whom he's lost touch with and worries about. Highbrow looks forward to investigating the dimension's mysteries together with his fellow scientist, though Perceptor's first duty is to fix up Ramhorn, injured in battle to the point where his cassette mode is beyond repair. Perceptor replaces it with a new tank mode, and while Ramhorn hates it, the scientist insists that he made the right choice giving him a more mobile altmode is better. The group is then interrupted by none other than Katsu Don, who says he's here to "take back Nijika" before tearing Perceptor's head off and running off with it. Highbrow and Perceptor's colleague Minerva are ready to make chase, but Ramhorn warns them that the Zamojin are strong and that they should bring some extra firepower in the form of Perceptor's body.

Katsu Don brings Perceptor to the headless new body of Nijika, damaged in a previous battle, and, having recalled that Perceptor's parts are compatible with hers, attaches the panicking scientist's head to it. The process is interrupted by the other Autobots, who have reconfigured Perceptor's body into its rarely seen tank mode, and a combined barrage from both it and Ramhorn distracts Katsu Don long enough for Perceptor to remove his head from Nijika. He returns it to his original body and takes aim at Katsu Don using Ramhorn's third mode, a handheld weapon, and the Zamojin retreats, swearing he will fulfill his dream of creating a full-scale Nijika someday. Admitting that he wasn't actually going to open fire on his old friend, Perceptor hopes that Katsu Don will someday, on a night of falling stars, find the right path again.

After returning to Axalon, Perceptor figures that since his head was already separated, he might as well convert it into a small robot and live a comfortable, human-sized life. Unfortunately, this makes it less comfortable for him to use his microscope mode, as he now has to stand on Minerva's head just to look into the lens.

I really like these text based be translations. If it's decided that the comics, as they are, are not suitable, it might be great to include parts of the comic, with these great text synopsises! It avoids certain pictures and allows many of us who don't understand Japanese to enjoy and focus upon the actual TF content instead.

Takara, I get that you include peg holes for stands on pretty much every modern figure. Honestly, I think the majority of us fans enjoy the addition. I also get that sometimes immature jokes are made about said peg holes. But did you really have to color and detail it in that way on Trickdiamond?

Just making this extremely crystal clear: the official content will be posted. In the case of these comics, going forward we will post a straightforward message along the lines that some people might find the content objectionable. We will not be censoring this content nor will we censoring it for you. If you have a problem with this content, you will need to censor yourself by staying away from the content you find objectionable. There will be no further discussion about this issue. Bottom line, end of story. Thanks!

That's fair. To add a disclaimer at the beginning of any given news post, like you said, plus the fact that the discussion page is separate from the toy discussion is as much due diligence as anyone can ask for. Obviously, if people want to voice their distain, opinions or concerns regarding these comics, they are welcome to do so.

Thanks, Seibertron, for taking the time to provide amicable solutions for the different members of the community here.

Yes, I was thinking of this picture when I saw the Octane comic (but I thought it was Devcon that was looking at that, or was there a magazine in the background of another cartoon that had robo bikini bots?). Also, wasn't Rattrap looking at something similar in the screen on the Axalon, whilst playing video games?

Anyway, I think the Sunbow cartoon was tamer than the current Octane comic, though, even though it could be said the basic portrayal of females was similar.

Back then in the 80s, kids weren't crybabies who needed to have their sensibilities protected from too much skin or violence. Now? It isn't the kids (who we give too little credit) we need to worry about. I rest my case. 8-}

Actually, in the 80's there were many stipulations and requirement regarding "decency" in 80's cartoons and related (toy advertising). For eample, religious iconography and bullets were baned, which is why all guns fired lazer beams, and usually at overhead rocks, etc. It's also why "Christian" crosses were omtted in graveyards and why Hasbro used a comic to sell the toys on Tv (as there were strict guidelines regarding how much screen time animations could be used alongside mandatory "realistic" footage of kids playing with toys. I think they also had to state "simulated play" or "in your imagination, such and such was happening", too).

Thus, I cannot see what you are trying to state, as standards concerning decency, morals or fair advertising were already issues to contend with prior to today. The standards have simply expanded to include more demographics, cultures and/or refined to be more specific, is all.

It's like in the new Doctor Who Christmas Special, where the 1960's Doctor makes well-meaning, but ultimately disparaging remarks about women. I thought that was a GREAT way to include fan service regarding how the original show and its values were at the time, in the context of Today. It's definitely something Skomofo could use in his own comics; fan service in context.

This is for anyone that wants some clear scans of the comics that comes with LG-54 Bumblebee & Spike, LG-55 Slugslinger & Caliburst, LG-56 Perceptor & Ramhorn, and LG-57 Octane & Ghost Starscream.
I went on a search for them and found the link on one of the tfw2005 forums, the link was posted by someone called PoweredConvoy, so all credit and thanks should go to them, and for the record I thank them too.
And even though it is already obvious, the comics.....mostly the Octane one is NSFW........also not suitable for very young eyes.
I will admit that even I am a bit shocked by the Octane comic, not as bad as some people made it out to be, but still WOW!!!
Also I hope it is okay that I share the link, just thought since I found it I would share it with anyone else that enjoys these comics.

Also I hope it is okay that I share the link, just thought since I found it I would share it with anyone else that enjoys these comics.

ahem ... from an actual staff member not someone who likes to think they run the site.

It's a link, it's an individuals responsibility to follow the link, we won't be held accountable for if they do.

That is true. I do not run the site, not am I a mod or admin, although is the rule for ANY type of link? If I posted a link to adult or political content, is that OK, too? I admit I'm ignorant on this point

Seriously? You can't just go read the rules yourself?

Where is the link for the rules? I'll go and check for myself, then.

According to the rules (that you posted?), there is nothing regarding links to other sites, per sec. Usually, many sites have a provision for that, such as posting links to copyrighted material (e.g., a be pirated copy of The Last Knight at file hosting site).

The rules are here:

- seibertron-com-energon-pub-forum-rules-and-guidelines-t102927.php

I'm still a little unsure though. If I posted a link (rather than an embedded image) of a be parody of the comic, would that be OK? I've no plans to do so right now, however. I just want to follow the rules.
