I think TFYuki beat me to that. (Edit: or was it the official Takara shots...
If you don't mind sharing, where did you get him and for how much? I'm trying to find the best option as far as price and shipping vs. shipping time. I want to get the figure ASAP, but not pay an arm and a leg. Thanks for the comments, all! I am really excited to have this guy, and I hope all who are ordering are as happy as I am.

Whereas other pics make the opposite look true, giving the purple a light and pale appearance.

Oh, okay, here are some pics for you!
As I said, I don't own G1 Shocky. I have this grey one with the red translucent plastic, which I think is from Radio Shack as the Astro Magnum pics I see online all had clear plastic. So, here are a bunch of pics with "dead" G1 Shockwave.

So, thanks for reading! If you have this guy on the way, I think you will not be disappointed! Personally, I cannot wait to see Ryan give this guy the Seibertron photo shoot treatment. Do you have G1 Shocky, Ryan? I think there can be some great pics there.
One last post script. Shocky would be huge for a Classics collection, unless the most recent Leader Megs and Starscream are used. Then he should fit in nicely. I may take some pics with some Classics/Generations figures later this weekend. I remember Counterpunch mentioning using MP in that collection...
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Bingo. They take the "cartoon" accuracy to a stupid level. Sometimes common sense should kick in. My wife laughed when I showed her Masterpiece Shockwave after I showed her the original G1 Shockwave.

Because it's not usually accurate. They'll find a screen shot or episode and run with it. G1 wasn't always consistent. Also sometimes what looks OK on screen might not translate as well as a toy. The cartoon models were also much more simplistic than the toys themselves. Hot Rod with a dark border around his chest flame is just silly looking where they should have gone with something more like his G1 toy. It just looks out of place on a Masterpiece style toy, same with a lighter purple on a Masterpiece Shockwave.
Not to mention how all over the board the G1 cartoon was with shades of purple on Shockwave to begin with.
