Seems like a very strange mix of figures there.

The Baldigus set is the only real odd ones out. The Stunticons are there for the whole Scramble City thing while Soundwave is from the same product line as Trypticon and can connect to his ramps.

I'll give you Soundwave.

The Scramble City throwback is nice, but a little tenuous considering that the actual character that connected to him in G1 is not there.

Baldigus is really out of place. 8-} But still nice to see.

Wonder why Rollbar and Motormaster were not invited to the Dino Base party. :-?

Are you implying Motormaster had a more pressing engagement than the debut of their evil Dino base?

Surely you jest!. Image

My guess is that the Takara photographer just grabbed whatever recent/semi-recent products they had on hand/nearby to help show off Dinobase's size and features, and that the ones they grabbed just happened to be the random mix that we see in these pics. :PEACE:

Though of all figures, Drag Strip? Really? Probably the worst-coloured toy of all Unite Warriors? Alright then.

Wish more people shared your opinion on Drag Strip. I been trying to get someone to trade their UW Drag Strip for my CW Drag Strip since it came out with no luck.

Just pre-ordered this beasty. I'm still hoping that he'll turn out different than the Hasbro version, even if it isn't looking like it currently. Both version cost me more or less the same, so I might as well go for Takara and hope for the best

I honestly think that the only reason the Takara one will be more "collectable" is because it has Takara's name on it. Some people tend to have blinders on when it comes to Takara products and see them as the greatest things on Earth, even when they have brought nothing extra to the table than Hasbro did.

There are those people who only buy Takara products, but yeah this is one of those times where there's really no bad option it just boils down to which is cheaper

MP Acid Storm is the same in both countries but the fact that it has a takara sticker on the box in Japan makes it more collectable.

Of course, the collectability for new items like this only applies to them sealed.

The fact it's directly an import will increase its future value.

Though it's not like Hasbro Metroplex is particularly cheap online either...

Proof in the pie is in the eating. Meaning......wait until the item is delivered then compare the difference. Then state if there really is a difference or not. Your same blanket statement also applies to yours too if you read it.

Biased (?) against anything with Takara on the box. The collectability is just a nice bonus on the item (boo to those who opens their stuff, no longer MISB, some play with their toys so the selling factor has dropped a few notches).

Also, getting the Takara version is sometimes the best option given how "reliable" Hb's distribution system is in stores like TRU etc. Examples are:

Hb Devs = where?
Hb Astrotrain= where?
Hb TFA Arcee= where?
Hb TR Optimus= (available in veeeeeeeeery limited quantities)

Though there are incidences that some regions of the world get their share first before the continental USA like Sixshot etc

In those cases, well, collector's whims then.

P.S.

Takara Devs floors the Hb Devs = extra joints, different decals/paintapps as applicable and weapons and visor/optics
Takara Metroflex floors the Hb Metroplex = extra gun and different decal/paintapps
Takara Fortress floors the Hb Fortmax= different Headmaster, different decal/paintapps plus the big azz sword

So there IS a precedent on Takara having something different from the Hb version.

So, if you are into the collectability, which one would you prefer? Be honest.

Hb Metroplex sellers just got an opportunity to dump theirs thanks to Trypticon coming alright. Hopefully not be too greedy scalping their prices as the price they believe their products are worth are not necessarily realistic.

Just took to ebay

Hb Metroplex most expensive is at $400.00

Only one TG-23 from Malaysia is selling around $ 900+

Do you work for Takara? I'm only asking because you get awfully defensive whenever anyone makes the smallest criticism against them. I never once said that Takara NEVER brings differences to their figures because that's not true, what we were talking about is Trypticon which CLEARLY doesn't come with anything different than the Hasbro version besides a slight deco difference. So the only thing that makes Takara's Trypticon more "collectable" than Hasbro's is the name. There's no disputing that fact.

Saying getting the Takara version is more reliable is also flat out wrong. It's actually easier to get Hasbro versions of figures through online shops than it is to get Takara figures since Takara figures tend to sell out quickly. This isn't always the case but it does happen often. It's apples and oranges.

And yes there are people who are very biased when it comes to Takara products. That's no secret and you're one of those people. It's not necessarily a bad thing, you like what you like, but you can't tell me that the instant a Hasbro figure is revealed and you have a handful of people saying that they can't wait for the Takara version that those people aren't biased towards Takara. Like I said it's not a bad thing, just own to to it. I myself have had the "wait for Takara" mentality on a few figures in the past.

To answer your last point on which would I get if I was into the collectability of figures I would go Takara only because it's got Takara's name on it and will inevitably go for more on the after market than the Hasbro version. However I do not care about that, I like playing with my toys so I'll be going Hasbro for Trypticon because it'll be cheaper. I buy Takara products all the time (I.e. I have 6 unite warriors box sets, legends fort Max and a bunch of their exclusives and I only buy Takara masterpieces) so i know the value and quality of their stuff is good, it's just that in this instance there's not enough to warrant importing.

Go for it!

Collectible wise, which do you think is more wanted?

I honestly think that the only reason the Takara one will be more "collectable" is because it has Takara's name on it. Some people tend to have blinders on when it comes to Takara products and see them as the greatest things on Earth, even when they have brought nothing extra to the table than Hasbro did.

Be honest.

Jeez. Was that not you who just said that? Never say never.

Also, another blanket statement  I live in a region where the examples I just mentioned the reasons of precedence which you probably failed to read ( I say that loosely on "failed", or you maybe also be wearing blinders around your optics) where getting the Hb version is harder than getting the Takara version. Also your bias against Takara is bordering to weird as all my non phthalates containing TF figs come from the same factory of Takara/Hb. It's just the presentation catering to a specific market that makes them different. :-B

Also, who are you to tell me which brand to get online? I go by the precedent. Takara got extra paint apps, extra bling in cards and pack in manga etc. Why take a risk? Get the critter while its cheap! If you like the Hb version, go ahead. And "supposedly", when factored in, the price of both JP and Hb version differ by almost null. Self explanatory.

Also, if you are so averse to any Takara version, why hang around on a "Takara" release thread? It's like a Decepticon attending an Optimus Prime Matrix awarding ceremony.

Guys, just putting it out there, the takara version is not always the most collectable. For Combiner Wars/Unite Warriors, it seems a full combiner from either company goes for as much on the secondary market with takara usually being cheaper to get out of the two just because Hasbro didnt reales them all together.

Bottom line.......up to the purchaser. Collectibility? Market forces. High demand, less supply more expensive. Again, market forces. If people like the Takara version or vice versa then you get what was mentioned. More expensive or cheaper.

Also, I was consoling xMXUx for his pre order not forcing my preference albeit already preaching to the choir. Why another poster is getting his hydraulic tubes in a knot when my post was for another is beyond logic.

If they really turn out to be the same, I don't see why the Takara version would be more collectible outside of Japan, since the only thing that'll be different is that the Takara version will end up costing more for most people

Incidental benefit if a product becomes more collectible. One thing different with JP and regular markets, in JP, theirs "seem" to be limited in release. Bad guys aren't sold in equal quantities as the good guys.

Though primarily, you'll be getting him because you'll be enjoying them yes?
