So, with Alpha Trion, the alt modes were related to his botcon exclusives (space ship and lion) and his lion horn is to recreate th spikes on his shoulder pads in G1. But for Lio Convoy, how do these work? Well, the unicorn lion head could be seen as a Kominu (some have horns):





And his ship mode, well this is the cool part, is painted as Lio Convoy's actual ship the Yukikaze. The shape isnt perfect and I dont think it was meant to be an homage. But the paint job is, especially the blue at the top:



So that would mean that his ship turns into a transtector.

Not really. The Voyagers seem to be suffering a price hike; a lot of places I've seen them go for between £26 and £30

Forbidden Planet tends to overprice things and sells Voyagers between £25 and £30
Toys R Us has Voyagers at £24.99 but let me have Galvatron for £22.99 cos of a shelf label mix up.

Thanks, this just proves that Lio Convoy isnt that much more expensive than voyagers in the UK. He is on preorder for £27.69 at Japanese retailers and thats just because the Yen shot up whil the GBP took a beating. Of course, that doesnt include shipping (though there would be no duty fees at this point since he is below £60) but thats just the extra cost to import anything.

This seems to be the case with a lot of TR molds. The Astrotrain/Sentinel mold's neck socket seems to be assembled backwards across the board. Forcing you to have to turn the TM's head 180.

The clip isn't misassembled. You can tell by the groove on both sides of the Hm/Tm head aka neck peg.

In my Broadcast case, it seems plastic isn't too tout plus the groove in Twincast's neck is a bit short. so it makes the head pop out

I just checked. Only my SDCC Sentinel seems to have the Titan Master socket assembled backward. My HB Astrotrain, HB Sentinel, and HB Blaster all have the correct socket assembly orientation.

Are other people seeing mis-assemblies in the socket in other figures or other iterations of the Astrotrain mold?

Oh. Sorry Ag. I thought we had determined it was both Sentinels. D-Maximus had the same problem (or something similar) with his new Astrotrain.

plus he really pulls off the 'prime' look nicely while not being a traditional prime.

I agree that the head looks fine as prime. I like how it looks all painted blue and with the ruffles has ridges mouth plate.

The American rate is $100.00 so much higher than the UK - I can't for example even buy a single Takara Deluxe without it costing me an extra £10.00 in clearance fees and VAT on top of the £25.00 -£35.00 or so the cost without that shipped.

Hey Logan. Could you check your TL Broadcast if Twincast's heads needs to be twisted 180 degree backwards before joining the transtector body?

I had to do the 180 because the head keeps on popping out.

hasbro blaster can go either way. if you dont rotate it it sits in tighter. if you do rotate it and lift the mask up the head comes with the mask.

Hb Blaster=3 no need to rotate/optional

TL Broadcast=1 need to rotate 180

Edit:

Again with the head I finally got Broadcast's head to fit without twisting Twincast's head 180 degrees.

The clip on the transtector has two small teeth that locks into the grooves on Twincast's side helmet. But with those "teeth", it has two extra small teeth. This more or less adds a little resistance prior to its locking in. You need to turn it slightly to the left while inserting him then back to the right which locks him securely. Hopefully in the future, it won't break Twincast's neck.

Lio Convoy uses the body of the Titans Return Alpha Trion, but it uses the Infinitus Titan master figure that originally came with Sentinel Prime. This is the first general Takara release of that specific body and head, so it will be entirely unique. You can check out the new image below, and remember to pre-order you Lio Convoy today!

Seeing that riveted mouthplate up close on the figure in Lio Convoy's colors does make me kinda wish that Takara had swapped out that Sentinel face with any of the other Optimus-looking faces, like from other Diac or Ginrai. They can keep the Infinitus/Darkmoon Titan Master mold body, but the Sentinel face itself doesn't work as well as Lio Convoy as it did for Convobat since Lio Convoy had a smooth mouthplate rather than a riveted one.




Putting one of these face on the Infinitus/Darkmoon figure's back (along with yellow eyes) would have made for a much closer approximation of this:




Looking at them all now, Diac's Optimus face would have been a very close match, indeed, right down to the Titan Master's arms matching the second set of antennae that Lio Convoy's head has.

Why you no trust Cobotron?

I agree Diac's face is a near perfect match, but I like the way the one he has has a much more fierce and threatening, rough and wild appearance. A good fit for a beast bot. Plus he's not the same Leo Convoy. He re-scanned man!
I do dig how the metallic blue of the gun and head pulls the color from the old design.
