Freaking called it. No matter how much it does or doesn't look like him, if Hasbro releases a lionformer; Takara turns it into Lio Convoy.
At least this one looks a lot more like him and actually has his face unlike that disastrous Thundertron repaint.

I know it sounds like I'm being negative but this thing looks absolutely beautiful. Too bad the price tag's so high (due to, of course, being an exclusive) otherwise I'd be thinking very hard about it.

Its not exclusive, its just a normal retail release of the legends line. its only expensive because the yen is high and TFSource passes their higher costs onto us. The toy is really only 30-35 quid in Japan, which is the same price you get hasbro voyagers at in Scotland, right?

Voyagers tend to be about 25 here... though I've seen rumours of standard retail price increases for them in Titans Return. They've already happened for Deluxes - 16/17 to 20, bloody outrageous - but I've yet to really see it happen for Voyagers, aside from Kapow selling them for 30 which I think is just an individual thing more than anything.
Is this a usual thing, then? TFSource marking up prices that high for Takara's toys?

That all depends on if they're going to include either Brawn toy in the Legends line, though.

Titan Master in Legends, Legends Class in Adventure, possibly as his retool Outback as a Fallback *ba dum tsssssssssssssss*. For that matter, I'm half expecting Kickback to be placed in Adventure as well, to complement Bombshell and Sharpnel there.

No, all their comics have to connect with their toys The comics are written much after and are more of an extra. The legends universe itself is a new world based on the toyline.

It's not Takara's fault that Hasbro killed off Brawn back in Transformers: The Movie (1986). They'll just have to write in a resurrection story to justify a TF Legends Brawn toy, probably using the Brawn animation error in "Carnage in C-Minor" as a starting point.

The yen is much stronger than the dollar now, as compared to last year, or even earlier this year. TFSource is a reseller, so they make their profit through a mark-up when they buy products overseas and resell it here in the U.S. Because it takes more dollars now to pay for products in Japan that cost about the same yen as they have for a while now, we, the U.S. consumers, get charged more to make up for the higher investment TFSource is paying to bring these products here. I sincerely don't think they're price gouging just to get richer, but increase the price to match the depreciating U.S. dollar and maintain their profit margin. Unfortunately, it's just kind of a hard time right now to be a U.S. collector of Japanese collectibles. Prices may go back down again if the dollar starts gaining on the yen once more.

Primus' blessing came in a one two punch. Fortmax, Wheelie ,Rewind, Windblade and Weirdwolf (Broadcast is still on the way)

What I can say is......don't don't don't let the initial images unless it's by Alfes or Ryan (even then it's still hard to tell) as it depends on the quality of your PC monitor.

Weirdwolf's face, well his mouth part is orange and well so awesome. Fortmax too. Though a 20% recycled but the colors and appearance in person (or robot) so amazing! I can just forget about the lack of ramp and city mode. He is so AWESOME!

Personally I wanna see a TR Leader Class Big Convoy, with a "base mode" that looks like an ice age mammoth hut, a more articulated mammoth mode and an overall similar aesthetic to Alpha Trion/Transmetal 2s, with mostly mechanical detailing with the odd bit of organic fur/bone/flesh.

As for getting this over Alpha Trion, I hear you. The deal here is that this mold was made for alpha trion. It has the 2 alt modes referencing his previously concieved toys and is based on a design made specifically for him (like the unicorn lion horn which makes no sense on Li Convoy)

That beign the case, why settle for a repaint of a toy made for alpha trion (see above) and not just get the actual Lio Convoy instead?

Yeah, your right its doubtful. Not only that but Hasbro releasing it as an exclusive wouldnt help anyone at all. The whole point of hoping for a Hasbro release of a Takara product is so that it can be more affordable and attainable for us. But as we saw with that Takara Voyager RID Grimlock, bringing that over to the US and turning it into an exclusive didnt do anything. Because its still only available for americans online and costs even more than the Takara one originally did since they paried it with bumblebee. So trading a toy that is exclusive to takara for a Hasbro exclusive is useless. If anyone wants this toy, they should just order it online, its not harder than buying any other toy online. And all in all, this price isnt bad considering Club figures of voyager scale would cost even more than this at initial release.

Can't say I'm surprised to see Takara releasing the mold as Lio Convoy. But I would've preferred if they did their take on A3, just to see how much better they could make it look.
I'm still missing any representation of A3 in my collection and the Hasbro one just doesn't do it for me color-wise

Wouldn't that mean that ordering from America would be cheaper since the Yen is stronger now? Also, I'm surprised stores like amiami and hlj don't sell hasbro products to Japan and the like since the figures all come from the same place, I'm genuinely confused about that
