The head doesn't need to be removed for transformation, so just have the head be a solid piece like it is with normal Transformers, then just have the "Titan Masters" transform into the engines in his chest, or be "Prime Masters". It seems so weird that we are getting Prime Masters (aka Godmasters or Powermasters) next, and yet the two biggest examples of them don't have the gimmicks done properly.

Sadly it looks like he does not we are only getting the silly elephant gun it seems. I hope it does come with a normal gun and it just isn't shown here.

Careful what you ask for. The normal Hasbro gun is pretty underwhelming, with the seat for the titan master leaving a big void in the middle of the gun. It also looks nothing like his original or thrilling 30 gun.

What do you think looks better than the Hasbro version? Side-by-side, the Takara one just looks plain compared to the better decoed Hasbro one.

Mega and Giga are Prime Master/Powermaster Engines.
Why this reminds me of Last Stand Of the Wreckers?
Base Mode is still the same though.
Sabrblade wrote:They weren't gonna remove the Headmaster gimmick on Overlord. Period. We're well past the point of speculating that Takara would do that for any of the non-Headmaster toys.
Like with Powermaster Optimus, Hasbro simply wasn't thinking of the Prime Master gimmick yet at the time that they were working on the Titans Return molds. Yes, it would have made more sense for them to have waited on doing both Optimus and Overlord in the Power of the Primes line instead of in the Titans Return line, but we only know that now because of the hindsight we now have. Had none of the PotP news and leaks been revealed when they were, we wouldn't have the hindsight that we have now.
Honestly, both Hasbro and Takara are giving us not one but two brand new releases of OVERLORD of all characters, and so many just wanna complain about the Headmaster gimmick? Would y'all have rather we never got a new Overlord, let alone TWO optional versions, at all? Honestly, we are a spoiled fandom.

But if you prefer the Hasbro version of Overlord yet yearn for those Powermaster engines, friendly reminder Shapeways has Powermaster engine 'faceplate' replacements for random Titan Masters.

Requires some painting and of course two extra Titan Masters than Hasbro Overlord comes with, but it still works out far cheaper than Takara Overlord.
Wait... really? That seems like all kinds of fail... especially for TakaraKurona wrote:You're seeing two Titan Masters - Giga and Mega - and two non-transforming Powermaster engines.

Takara: please stop using light shades of purple!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are taking cartoon accuracy way too far.
And man, did they really miss the opportunity to do multiple faces with Blitzwing? I was really hoping for his bat-shit crazy face and his DC-Cyborg face from Animated. Urgh.

Wolfman Jake wrote:You've hit the nail on the head, Sabr. Even if Takara had made Mega and Giga into Power Masters that fit inside Overlord's chest...what good does that really do? They don't actually unlock a transformation like the Power Masters of old in G1. They'd merely be decorations.
JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:You know, first with Sixshot, and now with Overlord, I fail to see the exact reason for going the extra mile of retooling the helmet if they already have "enough" resemblance to whatever source material they used. Why not then remold the chest to have that non-functional detailing permanently and leave the actual gimmick of the toy, the "Titan Masters," to something potentially useful? The way Overlord was designed, you can swap heads, and you have two mini figures, so now you can enjoy the Headmaster/Titan Master gimmick with TWO different faces for Overlord. The one you're not using can just chill inside one of the two vehicle mode cockpits. Perfect!
