Wait, you don't even own Backdraft yet? For all the praise you've been heaping on it I just assumed you pre-ordered one. Didn't realize you were praising it blindly...

It all comes down to what you're looking for in a figure. In my eyes MP Inferno is one of the best MPs made because I've always wanted cartoon-perfect figures and now I've got one (more). Realism isn't what I look for in MPs and I've been loving the way the line has evolved.

I HAD Backdraft. I sold him because so many of you kept ranting and raving about how amazing Inferno was. I usually wait till I have them both in hand before selling one, but I figured so many of you couldn't be wrong.

Well, you were. I have to say, if this "looks like bad '80s animation" teen continues in the official MP line, I may be done with it all together.

As long as you stick around for the RID line, I will be happy :)

As I have Hellfire, I think I gotta agree with you here Dude. It'll take something exception to get me to buy another MP. Hell, I'm figuring to stop collecting altogether and just keep the MPs I have and like now.

Just say "not for the foreseeable future" because they're going to keep riding the cartoon train for as long as they can. Well, except for Artfire and MP-38 Optimus Primal (for the most part), those guys are toy based.

According to the Tag Hobby article that first posted pics of MP-38, that MP is movie-based, though the movie happened to use the toy's colors instead of the cartoon colors but kept the cartoon-specific details like the exposed mouth and the Matrix-styled chestplate.

A little bit of this and a little bit of that. The only thing that can truly be accredited to the movie is the chest, but that's just because it's the same chest from the regular release. Meanwhile he also includes all of the original toy's accessories and the mutant mask. Plus his arm guns are colored red after the original figure as well, they weren't used in the movie. If this figure was entirely movie-based then he would have come with no accessories, or the same accessories as the original figure.

Nah, TAG's article is off, this figure was clearly designed for a dual purpose.

Is there any meaning to Inferno's head-wings? A "Mecha" thing, or maybe a reference to ancient Greece?

I think MP-33 is the only MP Inferno that turn his head like this, probably because there's no ladder attached to it.

And to differentiate him from Grapple/Crane robo back during the Diaclone days. Also, they remind me of the banners attached behind the shoulders of the armored samurai (think Yoshimitsu from Tekken)

So pleased with how MP Inferno turned out. And he was never really a character on the top of my wishlist; between the two I always preferred Grapple because he starred in a character-driven episode which tend to make them more relatable (Gears, Tracks, Red Alert, Perceptor, etc etc.) But he's so great. And I love the smiling face, it has a lot of personality.

He and Red Alert shared the spotlight in "Auto Berserk" as much as Hoist and Grapple shared the spotlight in "The Master Builders".

Auto Berserk is a Red Alert episode. It's more about Starscream than Inferno.

Starscream plays the role as the episode's main Decepticon like the Constructicons did in "The Master Builders". That episode showed us how deep Inferno's friendship was with Red Alert. Red was the protagonist and Screamer the antagonist, but Inferno was certainly the deuteragonist.

I'm talking about episodes where Inferno was the actual star (like Tracks in Make Tracks or Seaspray in Sea Change, etc.) there weren't any. No one refers to Auto Berserk as "that Inferno episode." It was about Red Alert.

I can't find the actual Artfire MP-37 thread so I'll post this here. Since there has been precedent of comparing 3rd party images in the official thread, I'll be doing it here.

The unofficial counterpart Kojin & Nightbeam also has gone for the voodoo ladder style. A kind of the KOer copying the original this time.So now, the selling point of the 3rd party Inferno was that the product had more molding details but had that ladder hanging out in the back. So now (I wonder if Takara trademarked their ladder magic?) 3rd part MT has also (?) copied/borrowed/adapted this feature.

The Artfire mold seems to be the most complete of the Inferno mold what with more paint apps and molding details (it seems anyway from the current images)

As some have want presented their frustrations with Inferno being too "anime accurate" (i.e. flat and no details) it's highly probable that Takara might re-release this, Artfire, as ultimate MP version of Inferno to counterbalance the 3rd party version.

Here you go: takara-tomy-mp-37-masterpiece-artfire-t108299s25.php#p1846886

Other than the extra disk on his on his shoulder it doesn't seem like MP Artfire has more sculpted details than Inferno.

He does have those wild tampos. Personally, I think that less is more sometimes. :)

Also, it doesn't look like that 3rd party company has done away with the ladder -- maybe more compact than other 3P-Infernos?

Thanks!

And done. Though you forget, this time, the mold has a ladder now unlike Grapple who has the crane.

Also, the 3rd party version, well, the only way to shorten the ladder is to go the Takara route.

Also, try using the decal set I mentioned previously. Works wonders on Inferno.

We really would prefer the 3P stuff be kept out of the official threads, we shouldn't even have to state that. A little common sense and all ...

As I mentioned there are previous posts where seibertron staff have included the 3rd party items in official threads. This one among others as examples. I also raised that issue and they said it was okay ( check the TT thread where TT Hotrod was using the FP Protector armor and held up as examples) and no one called them out for it.

takara-tomy-transformers-masterpiece-inferno-discussion-thread-t106788s450.php#p1843665

Also, the onus of my post was to state that even the 3rd party TFs are now playing catch up this time with the official item. See? They also adapted the voodoo ladder trick.
