I just wish that person affording it was me...

:edit: I also hope y'all paying attention to that new Starscream head and storing your pennies for the V3... :-D

This. All day. I know I’m getting this when he releases. And I’d love a V3 Seeker mold.

Ok, after looking at these comparison shots I may need a second job and MP-10 will be going back in his packaging. :BOT:

Man exactly! I always felt MP-10 was highly overrated as a Masterpiece Optimus Prime. Stubby legs overly long fore arms funny chicken feet , just off proportions all around and a terrible representation of his iconic laser rifle. I only have him because I bought the TRU version for 100 as he wasn’t worth the 300 price tag because of me finding him and still finding him underwhelming.

Those legs don't look stubby to me. The forearms are a bit long, yeah, but I don't think it's to the point of hurting the figure. And if I were to sock money away for a Masterpiece I would take Mp-10's proportions over MP-44's committing even worse cartoon accuracy gone mad any day. And how exactly are those "funny chicken feet"? I'll give you MP-10's rifle being wonky though. It suffered because someone decided it needed to be able to stow in his backpack.

People love MP-10 because 1. Despite what you say about his proportions they were considered an improvement on MP-01's 2. Unlike MP-01 he can actually bend forward at the waist and has other articulation improvements 3. Unlike MP-01 or even MP-04 he is a true complete Optimus Prime package that comes with everything the original had plus cool cartoon-based accessories and 4. He scales properly with the Seekers, Grimlock, and Roddy.

I’m with the Big C and Amelie over there. I’ve always found the proportions on MP-10 to be wack. He may not have chicken feet, but those toes are definitely too long for the classic look.

Honestly I’ve never understood why people think MP-01 has odd proportions, as .I’ve always found them really good. Now sure he may not bend at the waist, but that articulation was better than most of the toys being released at the time.

Might be the chest and the arms.
Image
Compared to MP-10 his forearms are rather thick and his pecs jut out more, perhaps excessively. Not too bad on its own maybe, but coupled with the articulation, scale, and completeness factors...

Regarding the stock photo comparison of MP-10 and MP-44, angle can have a big impact on appearance.
Image
Image
How do the proportions look here?

And again, I would take MP-10's proportions over MP-44's cartoon accuracy gone mad (and the accompanying overcomplication and price hike and the cab's bed looking as bad as Studio Series Optimus').

This new figure doesn't represent a drastic change in scale like going from MP-01 to MP-10, so I will view it the same way I did when MP-12+ was announced.....if I didn't have Sideswipe already, I would probably get the + version, but since I already have him, I'm not buying him again to get some paint upgrades & in the case of MP-44, a few extra accessories.

Yeah instead of '+' Sideswipe & Wheeljack they could've just done Deep Cover ( ;) ) & Slicer

Yeah that rear end is lookin pretty wonky right there. It looks as though it’s not quite lined up properly so I’m hoping it’s just mistransformed.
And I’d like to apologize in advance for the following, but it popped in my head and I can’t help myself.

This is the story of a Prime/
Trailer hitch was a misaligned crime/
But he looks so good in robot mode/
I absolutely love him

Agree the truck bed looks bad. Hopefully it's just a misalignment, or it's the weird angle. G1 Optimus Prime always look good no matter what MP-xx it is...! Still can't shake that price that is quite a bit higher than my MP-36...

Thanks to a tip off from fellow Seibertron user, Cyberpath, we can now share a whole slew of High Resolution photographs, showing this controversial figure in all its glory! The photos come from www.thefwoosh.com.

While most images we've seen before, we do get a better look at the heads the set offers including the new Starscream head, intended to reference the G1 cartoon episode, "Megatron's Master Plan".

We have mirrored the images below for your convenience.

Whats innacurate about thr truck? My problem is thst its too accurate, omitting the stripe on the cab and blue on the trailer to make it look more simplified.

Yes, that much is true (what makes it extra-dumb is that while the stripe was omitted the cab was often drawn with its outline anyway, which suggests the animators knew it should be there but had to block-color the cab regardless)
That said, the truck mode in the cartoon had proper fuel tanks instead of the laughable attempts seen here and didn't have a bed made up half of robot kibble.

I'll wait for the inevitable Hasbro release because it will be half the price, but honestly? It's perfect. It's like he walked right out of the original G1 cartoon. It's suppose to be simplified. ;)

They even included the rounder head depending on which studio was animating him that day.

I love it. Leaps and bounds better than MP Megatron and it just has more of G1 vibe than MP-10 or MP-01. Is it as realistic? No. But it's the cartoon brought to life in toy form. I want it.

This new MP Optimus has some fantastic details, articulation, & unprecedented cartoon-accuracy, yet that is also it's shortcoming. Its SLAVISHLY cartoon accurate to the point of plainness.

Mainly the stark white used on the waist & legs, the lack of cab & trailer stripes, & the bland gray used on the face instead of silver plus the rather non-gloss pale red & blue look much too de-saturated. BUT, that is what Takara was aiming for, so Kudos.

The plethora of accessories is cool, especially the Season 1 more rounded head, along with the Season 2 more angled head. plus his movie damaged head is just awesome! The Starscream bits seem somewhat tacked-on & are superfluous, however.

Hopefully, a richer colored/toy-accurate version will come of this mold eventually.

Though unlikely, I hope Takara will reconsider their exorbitant pricing, but I doubt it. For the price, the QC better be immaculately PERFECT. Who wants a nearly $500.00 DUD? If sales tank because of the high cost, will the Masterpiece line be in jeopardy, I wonder? :-?
