Would I be wrong to ask for some repaints of Hound into Swindle and Red Alert into Breakdown. I'm happy we got another vehicle.

You aren't "wrong", but it isn't going to happen regardless as they aren't about to make combiner characters that don't Combine. Never mind the fact that Breakdown and Swindle in robot mode look absolutely nothing like their alt mode counterparts in the cartoon. Hound is more likely to be repainted into either a new character all together or Detritus.

Possible accessories for hound would include extra facial expressions, keys, hologram driver, and maybe a cage for ravage?
I only remember hound from the pilot episode. Was he in later episodes in season 1?

Hounds G1 toy is actually pretty ace. The transformation is quick, simple, but still gives him a well proportioned, identifiable robot mode. Plus the head features (to my knowledge) the very first auto-transformation part ever (it slides up when you move the body into place).

For the amount of moving parts (7,if you discount the windshield and head) - he is more than respectable. Early G1 (ie - diaclone) was very good at getting great results from Conservative amounts of moving parts. "Budget" range transformers now often have more moving parts to much less effect. Indeed, the fact that early designs were so restrictive are what gave those early characters such distinctive silhouettes we associate with the characters now - door wings, starscreams "thigh high heels", hoists big tummy...

Anyways... All personal opinion

He was also in plenty of other g1 episodes. More than 5 more, from memory, which is more than a whole heap of MTMTE characters)

As for bonus accessories - I'd like a better Spike. The one we have looks like a polly pocket dipped in paint...

This is why I'm surprised we haven't gotten a MP Blaster (Broadcast) yet. Twincast would be an obvious repaint & there is already a mold for Steeljaw out there in Nightsalker to use as an accompanying cassette.

You know, I would actually like them to make a new mold for Steeljaw. Nightstalker is a nice figure, but he is tiny, much smaller than Stripes in the same box.

The G1 figures were much more comparable, but in the attempt to Masterpiece-ify Nightstalker they made him too small.

I'd like to see Detritus with some retooling, including a new head with a goatee. Not the first e-Hobby character, but the first with an original deco, not based on a Diaclone.

A MP Cos-Mos will be more than feasable. Especially because no licencing issues.

Porsche is owned by the same company that owns VW so I'm not sure what's going on besides general hautyness. I don't think Pontiac is still around as a car company so not sure if a Trans Am is doable.

Besides being a first wave toyline character, which puts him in rarified company, he'll add some color variation to my Masterpiece Autobots shelf. The color thing is just trivia...it's Hound!

Him being pushed back a bit actually works out for me considering my likely recovery time from MP-44.

When MP Hound costs the same as MP-10, that's a pretty good sign my Masterpiece collecting has come to an end.

His ark mates went for 60-80 use right? how the hell did they manage to up it by so much? It's very disappointing but I'll end up shelling out for it cos he remains one of my favourites. The other reason... being a collector.

I feel like now takara have thrown us into a cycle where they know they have the completists locked in.. they don't care for the straggler who *might* pick up something here and there. they can rely on twits like me who are more completist (and I'm nowhere near that extreme either) where they can release figures at higher prices, sell fewer and make more profit...

And perhaps i'm in the minority, but the extra bits and bobs really annoy me as i hardly every use them... I get it's nice to give us a choice like with the facial expressions or chrome vs anime looks, but at times it feels like they're OTT and would rather have a base figure for 20-30 euro less than 10 accessories i will prolly never use.

I comepletely agree with you. The extras i look at once and maybe swap in and out at the start, then into the cabinet lokely not to be used again.

The rate of G1 releases is so much slower now that the higher prices are bearable.. but likely skipping Mp44 due to cost so maybe that is the first skip of many?
