I'm not 100% sure if it was like that from transformation (I've done it back and forth once each) or I just missed it when I opened him, bit his face and head now have some patches. It's not the worst thing, but pretty disappointing for a $120 figure I just got yesterday. Anyone else having this problem, or did I just get a bad one?

Mine has a small chip on the upper face guard in robot mode on his default head. Right where the nose would bee, there's a small scrape exposing the dark plastic under the white paint.

I think his face rubs a bit against the inside of gorilla chest piece during transformation, and that may be what caused the chip.

Beyond that he's fine, having a blast transforming him back and forth.

I just picked up and opened him. Amazing figure. Worth the cost.
:x

But I'm in my silly mode this time...............

Iirc, in the show where Megatron took Megatron's spark, the original Optimus Prime when compared via scale to Primal was like 5x his size.

So technically speaking he should be around MP Bumble's size or smaller and not voyager (?) size. So how come no one is complaining about his scale discrepancy?

Some people have mentioned his scale but then just shrugged their shoulders and enjoyed this awesome figure.

Because he's the size of a human (transmetal forms are bigger than the series 1 bodies). TM Megs is about the size of Prime's head. Perfect headmaster size actually. Aint no way an MP figure is being made the size of MP Spike.

This is the start of a new scale. The Beast Wars scale. Forget the G1 mp's. Because if they did make one of the larger BW guys the size of Bee? I know I would riot.

Silly mode off.

Now I'm serious. So In BW, prior to the disc heist, the characters we will all come to love are TFs with vehicle modes right? Yet they were like human sized (?).....Like say Micromasters if you want to be technical?

Precisely. The Maximals and Predacons on Cybertron had vehicular altmodes, but after having undergone the Great Upgrade from Autobot to Maximal, the entire species was downsized to a scale akin to that of Micromasters, Cyberdroids, and Mini-Cons.

According to two Japanese sources (a guidebook and a trading card), Optimus Primal's height in his season 1 Beast Wars body is 2.8 meters (roughly 9.19 feet).

Yep. During the events that switched them from Autobots to Maximals, they all downsized. So pre heist beast wars guys are in effect, micromasters.

It's nice to know something new. Thanks both of you.So whether intentional or coincidental, some of the mythos do borrow from that of Ancient humanity.

The existence of giants, immortals and now we are like........wuuuh? So again, not sure if this applies to the JP side Lio and Bigconvoy are around 10 feet tall? Then we have Robotmasters where Primal stood like almost head to head with Optimus....... 8-} I'm starting to get a headache.

Anyway back to the toy. One of you guys noticed this slot on Primal's left forearm. Am I missing something in the instructions or did Takara forget something?

Did I mention again how awesome this fig is (an this is from someone who doesn't dig BW). The paint apps when compared to the show is almost unnervingly a carbon copy. :x

When did this Autobot Maximal switch take place? Was it when they crashed on Earth or before? I only ask as either they would have had to build new ships or the ships were shrunk too.

It took place some time after the Great War between the Autobots and Decepticons and before the theft of the Golden Disk. Sometime during the interim 300 years between the Great War's end and the timeperiod that the Beast Wars cast traveled back in time from.

Here's the scene from Beast Machines in which the Great Upgrade is mentioned:

Why wouldn't it be? It's from the cartoon.

Again, I read somewhere here in seibertron that BW isn't necessarily THE future of G1 so the future is fluid.

Anyway, back to the figure.........HELP!

I just transformed to warrior mode........and Primal has a chipped lip! Out from the box.

Is this a common issue? :BANG_HEAD:

Does anyone know what is the actual color for the part? I'll try to do some cosmetic repairs :(

The truer perspective is that the G1 cartoon isn't necessarily THE past of the BW cartoon.

BW and BM are the future of a version of G1, but one that is the stuff of myth and akin to Arthurian Legend, and which is also composed of elements taken from both the G1 cartoon and the G1 Marvel Comics.

At least, that is the case for the English version. For Japan, their dub of the BW cartoon was always seen as part of the same timeline as their dub of the G1 cartoon, continuity errors between the two shows be darned.

He definitely has some paint scraping issues. Notably, the circular parts at the base of the antenna will rub against the hinge if the head isn't positioned perfectly while transforming. I've already lost paint off both sides.

The antenna but not the lips? It seems to me the clearance is so small in the compartment of the head. To err on the side of caution, we probably need to remove the "face plates" first/leave the head empty before transforming back to beast mode.

I already have a replacement part on the way but this should be a warning to those who have Primal......

Warning: take face plates off first when you transform him back to munkee mode.

The only way I can describe the flaws of MP-32 is to say that he feels like a precision engineered figure that was never meant for clumsy human hands. The tolerances are tight and precise but merciless. Nothing feels overly complex, but it's all packed tight into that beautiful figure and they forgot to give a little breathing room for parts.

Paint chip came out right outta the box in my case. Hence I'm being sent a replacement face plate. The default face btw.

He's in warrior mode now. Aside my two BWII and Neo Convoys, I'm now fallen in love with this mold. Cheetas on the other hand.......not too excited over him

To all those who are now yearning for that die cast mace to go with their Masterpiece MP-32 Primal, it can now be bought online for just shy of $20. It is a similar scenario to what we saw with Ironhide's drill. This acessory is the only MP-32 accessory that is made by Hasbro Asia and not Takara.

Here are 2 reputable e-bay stores where they can be purchased:

and yet, he holds it surprisingly well considering it doesn't really slot into his palm all that well so he's relying mostly on grip strength
