I want the club to survive more than I support anything bad happening to funpub. Not that I want anything bad to happen to funpub in the first place. Honestly aside from their terrible shipping costs, Funpub has done an incredible job.

Pretty much what I think. They have given us some of the best exclusives in TF history.

just because they have issued cool toys via the convention and the collector's club does not excuse them acting as dill holes to fans and actively thieving international customers on postage costs.

I've sent stuff internationally and the only people doing any thieving are the various postal services. Especially if you want to make sure the packages don't just disappear from the face of the earth.

That's a weak ass bullshit excuse for FP charging sometimes double or triple the dollar amount that is listed on the postage label that was printed and affixed to the box before they just elected to disinclude the postage amount paid.

This has been well documented by various australian members of other boards in numerous poistings over the last several years.

Postage cost aside, postage time was also a killer for me. By the time the magazine would arrive (weeks after release) it had been discussed to death.

Given we live in an age of digital media, it would NOT have been hard for them to establish a digital delivery service for the magazine.

Transformers are big business these days. Hasbro would be fools to leave the Fanclub spot vacant. As for Funpub getting the boot. I wouldn't call it "b*tching" as much I would call it, celebrating, relief, hope, etc.

I get that loyal funpub fans are in their feels due to the news. But throwing shots at the people the club alienated for years won't change it.

Transformers is a HUGE business nowadays, but the exclusives market? It's been shrinking. Botcon's attendance is down, the Club's exclusives sales are down... given the consolidation, coordination, and control Hasbro is exerting on the brand, I wouldn't be surprised if Hasbro were ending the Club concept entirely. What is FunPub if not another loose end?

I haven't seen anyone get the feels so much as acknowledge that some Club figures were well done. But sure, characterizing folks who aren't bashing FunPub or celebrating their alleged demise as blind fanboys or emotional wrecks makes it easier to dismiss the plausible theory that this may mean the end of US-based Club-style exclusives.

The Club has done some good fiction, some fantastic characters, and have helped me bulk up my collection. If they are going away (and I'm not putting my money on it), I will miss them. IMO there was far more hits than misses.

Hopefully whatever arises in 2017 will continue to work to try to please the fandom. I wish them luck; we seem to be a very cynical bunch.

Good riddance.
I for one won't be one of the FP white knights that need their exclusive repaints with new head sculpts that badly to try to justify the cr@ptacular behavior that company has had towardds it's customrs.

Plus like others have said....if FP falls and burns...3rd party will step in to the void to supply the fan's demand and life will go on.

I have loved several of their TFCC and TFSS exclusive figures....Nacelle, The hunter, the pirate and machine war sets, etc.

But screw FP....they deserve to fall and burn.

Is it possible to have this discussion without the name calling? (I mean this on both sides: calling those who say anything nice about Fun Pub "white knights" and those who criticize them "haters" both serve to diminish the points that people are making)

You're just putting your foot in your mouth at this point. The fact that you claim that Attendance was down and sells are down only puts things in perspective.

Plus why h3ll should I care if this spells the end for Botcon if it wasn't really geared for me anyway???

The only thing at Botcon I really looked forward to were the upcoming TF reveals which will still be released via NY Toy Fair, SDCC, NYCC, Etc.

So as I said before if Hasbro is smart they'll find a way(s) to fill the void in 2017 that isn't as offputting as Funpub's practices were getting in first place.

I see no foot. What I do see is multiple perspectives and multiple potential outcomes based on the facts on the ground. Unlike you, I express no confidence in one scenario over the other; I'm simply presenting possibilities.

YoungPrime wrote:Plus why h3ll should I care if this spells the end for Botcon if it wasn't really geared for me anyway???
I know you don't care, and I never said you should. But for something that's not at all geared towards you, you seem to be commenting a lot about it.

YoungPrime wrote:The only thing at Botcon I really looked forward to were the upcoming TF reveals which will still be released via NY Toy Fair, SDCC, NYCC, Etc.
Whoop-dee-doo.

YoungPrime wrote:So as I said before if Hasbro is smart they'll find a way(s) to fill the void in 2017 that isn't as offputting as Funpub's practices were getting in first place.
Or, assuming FunPub is indeed losing out here, Hasbro might end a line of business that's not making good money. Either outcome is possible. To express any level of certainty or to claim it would be wise to take a particular action without understanding the underlying business case is foolish.

I feel the same way about this. Keyword: feel. No idea how true it is, but it definitely seems that the old hype for limited/exclusive repaints/retools is significantly less than what it was in the past and it continues to diminish. This goes beyond TFCC product - MP repaints, e-hobby, Platinum edition, you name it, there's just not the same excitement there used to be for that kind of stuff. Grand Galvatron is the closest I've seen to excitement out of this fanbase for a repaint in a long while now. There's a multitude of factors for this as I see it, but that also feels like something for another time/place/thread.

I was thinking the same thing. My thought is that exclusives no longer feel like exclusives because they're released with as much regularity as HasTak's figures. We now expect 6 (7) exclusive figures with the TFSS, Botcon will give us another 13-15, there will be something for SDCC and CybertronCon and so on.

There was a time when exclusives came out less and were more of a hassle to get, making them more rewarding to have in hand. Now if you're unable to get it at the venue of release, there are ample numbers of online retailers who will be able to serve you, albeit for a bit of a markup.

Part of me worries that despite some of our complaints about FunPub and Botcon, that we're taking them for granted nowadays and if they go away, there will be a large hole that may not be filled.

This sums up how I'm feeling. I genuinely enjoy the themes, figures and fiction they produce. Not least of which being Botcon. It's sounding a lot like there is nothing in place to carry these things on. If that's indeed the case then that really, really sucks. Not to mention the friends many of us have made by attending Botcon. It's nice to have that annual thing we can look forward to, to see each other. I don't see how anyone wins by the club going away.

The TCC Magazine 2016 story line has been announced! "Transformers: Of Masters and Mayhem" takes place after the events of Another Light, as it follows the Classicsverse humans and Autobot Pretenders as they make the most of their new world.

The humans from the Classicverse have had their share of other worldly experiences since the Transformers first arrived in 1984. They have seen the war come and go, they have seen their planet taken from their home universe and transported to another, and then they even found themselves removed from the very planet they had always called home!
It has been five years since that day. The humans now have a new earth, a new home, one that is mostly at peace and one that is free of the Transformers! Or so they think... Next year, exclusively in the pages of the TCC Magazine, an exciting new 36 page story begins with Issue 67. Can the humans every truly be free of the war involving the Transformers, or will they always be at the mercy Of Masters and Mayhem!
To Join the TCC and receive all six issue of the 2016 magazine, the free membership incentive figure Ramjet, discounts on the official Transformers convention BotCon, access to the TFSS 5.0, prizes from Club contests and more, be sure to visit https://www.toyarama.com/…/transformers-club-memberships-c3…
