That does look good, I just wish it were still a VW Bug. :(

Yea, the only one I might not get is Starscream, and thats just because I know I'm getting the Masterpiece, and this is nothing by comparison. The rest are all must haves.

Frakkin' awesome.

Except for the grey hands, he looks for all the world like a more detailed and articulated version of the G1 Hot Rod who's standing on the shelf over yonder. *points* :)

I was right. Excellion was the perfect Hotrod homage, even right down to the way he transforms. I'd never had an original HR so it was just a guess, but seeing these pictures and the way his back transforms this proves it. Damn my impatience, I could have just had this.

::Edit::

Scratch that. After closer inspection, I have no idea what's going on with that back.

deffinatly to much back kibble....

Looks like the sides of the Fin rotates seprately from the middle section.

I might have to add some extra Exhaust to this mold when i get it depending on the size if it's in scale with his G-1 counterpart

To me it looks like the legs pull out the back side including half the pipes, and has kibble extending over the sides of the thighs. the Fin folds forward and then the windshield folds back over it. if you look there's a double hinge on it (black looking). the arms pull out to the side and the chest folds down. I see no places where there is any swiveling on this mold like the back pack on Excellion and Hotrod. It's alot of extra weight in one place but I think it's alot better than having this big but flap on the figure's backside.

OK, I'll be the one to go ahead and say it. The proportions of this guy are bugging me. I really like the transformation scheme, and appreciate how far they are going to make a g1 hotrod, but I think I'm going to have to trim off the front of the car and shorten it a bit. In bot mode his torso is too long compaired to his legs, and his sholders are impossibly high, everything above the actual sholder joint that is (which is lower than his neck by a bit too much). I know this will make me have to figure out a way for his upper body and his waist down to get closer, but I think he needs it. And yea, I too am going to be adding a third exaust pipe.

Jim, remember, the pictuires you are looking at were taken from above the model. As a result there is some foreshortening going on. Thus, the legs appear shorter than they really are.

Man, I love this line soo much! I wish I could stick around for a long time! Every figure looks so beautiful and is very true to the character they are based on.

Here's another picture that is straight on. Mistransformed back, but proportions do look slightly better. Its almost like that other pic fish-eyed the thing a little. More distortion at the bottom of the pic than in the middle.

Unfotionately it's only a short line. They interviewed hasbro in the club newsletter. There won't be a whole lot more figures after these. and they said "some of these molds lend them selves to recolors" meaning we'll probably get a recolor or two of every mold. And that to me, means we might see a cliffjumper in this line too.

I dunno the horizon line in the shots is only about an 1/8 of an inch above the back kibble. doesn't really create for much forshortening. Its pretty much a dead on straight shot. And since his arms and legs aren't pounting towards the camera I think the lengths are about what we'll get.

If you don?t take the shot from crotch-level, you will get fore-shortening. Crotch-level is center-mass.

If we do get a recolor or two out of most of these molds, then we might be looking forward to an official Neo G-1 Ultra Magnus 8)

Wow. I was incredibly disapointed with this line.

I dunno, after the announcement there would be some kind of neo-G1 line I got myself all excited...

...and then I saw 'em.

Hot Rod and Bumblebee look awesome. In fact, 'Bee would look ten times as good as Cliffjumper. I like the fact Hot Rods design incorporates a touch of Galaxy Force Excillion, kinda bringing the character full-circle.

Astrotrain looks fab (esp. the new bullet-train alt), but isn't exactly a fave character of mine.

I hate Starskers' paint apps on the wings. Red wings??? Noooooo! Other than that he isn't too bad.

Optimus looks less G1 than his Galaxy Force version.

But that Megs...

Oh MY that Megs.

Hideous.

They could have made him a silver tank and still had him look more show accurate.

I've been waiting so long for a decent G1 Megs homage toy. Looks like I'll have to build my own. *sigh*

I have to disagree with you on Prime, I-Kandi. PRime looks very much like an upgraded G1 Prime. From what I can see, the transformation is not that far removed either. yes, Megatron does hav its ?issues? but that is because it is illegal to make ?realistic? toy guns. any toy gun must look like a toy. This is because too many kids had been shot by police who mistakenly thought they were armed with real wepons.

Heh. I'm being a little harsh on the Prime, I'm just too bummed out on the Megatron. (interested to see this 'Battle through the Ages' 2-pack, though)

I hear you on the gun law thing, believe me I'm well aware of those issues Trampster, but you're kinda missing my point.

I'm not talking about the alt-mode, the gun issue doesn't come into it. My problem with it is I'd have much prefered a closer homage, in robot mode, to the character I grew up loving.

They could have easily achieved this with either the funky-chunky-gun or tank as an alt-mode. Energon Megatron was a wicked neo G1 Galvatron, despite having a totally different alt-mode, for example. There's just too much reenvisioning going on with Classics Megs' general design for my tastes.

Ah well. It doesn't really matter, I'm sure Classics Megs has his fans; it's just left this particular one feeling they could have done a better job.

Not to worry i-Kandi, if you check my poll in the help section I am working on Megatron 2.0 which will be a Desert Eagle pistol with a nickle looking finish that will IMHO be a good homage to G1.
