I was going to stuff this in the Decepticon thread at first until I realized that might be a tad pointless considering, well cause there's bots.

Most all of you here know me and know I am. Then again, I’ve seen several new faces so I would have to assume that a lot of others do not. For you, the short introduction: --I’m an artist.

I’ve been asked about commissions frequently lately (A lot for HMW MTMTE bio spreads again) and I’ve put a lot of thought into the offering of commission services again. Many of you know well enough that I hadn’t been able too in quite awhile due too overwhelming project demands and commitments.

Professional image commissions

Vicious Visions INC. is now open again for all your customizing, artistic needs. Forum Signatures? Fully realized fan characters? Portraits? 100% original art TF MTMTE bio spreads? Maybe something not mentioned? Quality commissions and professional imagery since 1994!

NO! Recolored, retooled, plagiarized DW and/or IDW images used ever!

At prices like that, these commissions are a steal. Wow!

I don't charge that low, and my work isn't nearly as fast or as kick aft as Shinju's. Which means by me admitting that, that all my commissions will cease....Double Darnit!!!

Awww, Storm. I really wish you wouldn't look at it like that. I prefer to see it as unique reflections of ourselves: You, me, we each have something different to bring to the table.

That aside, 'not that low?' Those prices I gave are pretty damned standard even. Well unless you're a top bill artist for DC or Marvel working some lithos. Those will run ya about a few hundred.

I was quoted double from another artist, so yeah, definitely cheaper. Quality wise? Both you and the other artist put out some great work and you each have your own unique style. There is no way I could rate one over the other ... except in price which is where you'd win out.

Ahh. Never mind I see now. There's a difference between 'standard quote' VS 'independent quote' Think of it as Grocery stores prices verses small corner shop. They can charge whatever they see fit and whatever they think you would be willing to purchase.

A'las though. I won't promise that prices won't go up one day, but as of the moment this is it and it's general quota.

So what you're saying is this other artist feels their work is worth charging $100 for while you feel yours is worth half that? (Roughly)

I'm just curious because like I said, I feel both you and the other artists work, while you both have your own styles, are still high quality, yet you both charge different rates. I guess it does pay to shop around.

Do I think I'm worth less -- no. But I also know of very few people (unless they're an in-demand, popular, working for a major serious comics/graphics label) that will get paid $100.00 per such.

Can't tell ya, Burn. Prices flux as bad as my utilities every month. It's really depends on what it is you are doing I suspect. But one character per single plain white background runs about that much.

EDIT* Never mind. No wonder you all think I'm crazy. I realized that when I said 'white background' up there. I missed the entire HMTL script for detailed BGs. Only the MTMTE has the going special that's what makes it um ..a special.

I treat it sort of like how much I'd like to be paid for what I'm doing. And basically, I checked around and found that people were actually charging much much much much more than I was for my commissions. Yet, I was still getting commissions and people were asking me for them. And basically I felt that I was worth more than the 20 bucks that I was asking for. Especially when it was taking me roughly 4 hours of work to do both pencil creation and then final inks. Technically, if I did 4 hours of work at my day job, that'd be 44 bucks pre taxes. So...

Anyway, no disrespect. I just wanted to say that this is a helluva deal for anyone interested.

And no disrespect at all here either from me either. I know and see exactly what you are referring — That and I certainly hope that you never got some impression that I was just waltzing in here like Wal-mart with a better deal. It was never meant to be that way.

Like you, I base my charges on the work that I do and how long, effort, etc. it takes for me to do them. While not a ‘huge’ venue, I do and take a lot of orders and work via Vicious Visions that I feel more than compensate my being able to offer these at the said rate. This is certainly not to say that these prices are set in stone either. If the Vicious Visions work load presses and I’m forced to limit myself then the rates may rise accordingly. It’s a never ending cycle actually.

So if someone came up with a script you'd be willing to work it into a mini-comic of sorts Shinju? Much like what you've done with the HMW comic (apologies in advance if that results in someone asking what that is and you have to answer)

Obviously that's something you wouldn't be able to put a price on straight up then yeah?

In that case yes you're right. That's something that would not have a straight up price. Something like that would be a lot like ACT22, etc. where we had to sit and discuss a contact.

Okay, I just didn't know if you were referring to me. I've heard from some people that my prices are bad or wrong or off or whatever. So, I presumed that you visited my page and were speaking about my prices. So....

Anyway, the beef between you and I has been officially squashed. At least on my end. I think that I realized that it's too short of a life to be worried about the ever-popular "internet blood fued." Besides, the culprit involved as the catalyst of our beef never really got the clue. And I also realized that my speculations and allegations that you have an entourage that blindly does your bidding was, at the minimum ridiculous and, flat out wrong.

Anyway...don't want to derail the thread.

Forgive me, but I actually didn’t know until I posted this that you even took commissions. I knew you drew, yes

Thanks Whisper. I’ve always loved your layer artistic styles and Lord knows that I have always been picky beyond picky with that subject as a whole. In any event, you’ve been here long enough to know that I’ve always felt it amongst my greatest pride to offer what I felt was quality art ---original, unique, and open to the community public that enjoys that type of DW/IDW formula. Or artwork associated w/ those banners.

Most all of the other artists working and associated w/ those labels just don’t have the time to commit to accepting commissions from the fans. Too which I often understand. I haven’t been able to open myself to commissions again now since 2005! O0;

P.S. Btw. You do realize that each & every time I think of or about thee Whisper that he looks just like the purple helmed bot in your avy. By default.

He just resurfaced. He tried upgrading his computer to Windows Vista and had some... compatibility issues and had to "rebuild" from the ground up.

That's probably because I use that avatar everywhere I post, plus I haven't changed it for at least three years...
