Don't ask. Hasbro is just shoving the idea down people's throats. It makes no sense at all.
There are absolutely no irreconcilable contradictions between WFC and Prime. They fit together without any major complications. The Exodus novel helps cement the two together even further, as it tells the same basic story as WFC with further expansions on the WFC story that make it fit in more smoothly with the Prime cartoon.

I think it looks like a dark alpha trion infected or corrupted by dark energon

If there are combiners then we'll for sure get Stunticons. They're everywhere lately, and that's the trend with the last few convention exclusives

Dinobots? Did he say Dinobots??? Finally! I don't have the HUB but damn well will get it if the dinobots show up in season 2. They couldn't work them into the films but sounds like Orci wants to work them into the Prime animated show. YES!

Plus, we got WFC 2 on the road to Fan City, so that will probably cement the 2 continuities together even more.

Combiners, Dinobots? WHOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!

Unicron is most definitely the guy in the volcano because, I read somewhere (I would post alike if I could) that the more he eats, the more energy he gets, and the more energy he gets, the bigger he becomes.

So, naturally, so might Unicron go into stasis for a million years, obviously if it were me, I would let loose all of my energy out and crystalize myself with all of my power, when I awaken, all of the energy gets sucked in, and I get to an enormous size.

I think of these things when I can't sleep at night.

I'm sorry, but having played the crap out of WFC and watched Prime religiously with my son, thats trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. An official book trying to bridge the two is nothing more than a marketing ploy done in yet another media and should be considered a seperate part of the multiverse.

i don't think it's unicron, probably the fallen or scourge. unicron is the size of planet, how could he be "sleeping" on earth? my guess is scourge, which maybe will lead to unicron.

No, that's what he's been in other continuities. They have yet to state anywhere in Prime that Unicron is planet sized. all we know about Unicron is that Dark Energon is his blood.

I really hope it is Scourge who then reveals the existence of Unicron. If the big fella is NOT a GIANT robot (I can live with small moon sized :D ) I will be a little disappointed. As far as the WFC tie-in, I don't see it.

I actually like the purple eyes on Unicron. It kind of fits with how Dark Energon is purple and Megatron's eyes turned purple after he infected himself with the stuff.

From an artistic perspective, I purple eyes could potentially look better on Unicron than green ones, if they decide to give Primus yellow eyes. (Given Primus makes any sort of appearance) For anyone familiar with a color wheel, blue and orange (the colors Primus and Unicron are primarily) oppose each other, as do purple and yellow. It would help to make a nice contrast between the two, I might be looking too far into it. For anyone wondering what I'm talking about, click here.

I'm also with everyone who thinks that the volcano erupting was just symbolic. The fact that there seems to be a planet behind the Earth in the trailer is ignored in comparison to it, though, and I honestly think that's the biggest hint that it's probably Unicron. It also kind of looks like Dark Energon is falling from the sky, which just makes me think it's probably Unicron, considering he's the source of it.

Also, since it says "HE IS COMING..." at the end of the trailer, I honestly think that's more fuel to the fire of this being Unicron. That makes it seem like they'd go with the most obvious identity for the character if you ask me, and when most of us look at this, we think "Holy scrap, Unicron!" as opposed to Alpha Trion, Sentinel Prime, Liege Maximo, etc.

It's a really neat looking trailer, and all of this new information is definitely getting me pumped for this series.

And the conflict may be that Unicron is defending Earth from both Autobots and Decepticons, since he'd view them all as threats to his creations.

Makes sense if read like this;
Organic Life = Evolution = Chaos(Unicron)
Robotic = Built = Order(Primus)

This idea is interesting, but wouldn't the Autobot now be in a moral bind because they're protecting what Unicron might've created? It would be interesting to see how that would turn out, because it would strongly test what the Autobots' believe.

Anyone else reminded of Unicron's Dark God self in the Marvel comics? The human looking one with the helmet.

If it is Unicron, I hope they further homage the old stuff and have him defeated by Primus' Chosen One: Rodimus Prime. So sick of Mr. Perfect Optimus constantly hogging the limelight.

Prime is the best series since Beast Wars. No Professor Princess, Kicker or Kremzeek crap in this.

I kinda like Kicker character-wise.... :-(

The two take place millions and millions of years apart. A LOT can change over the course so many eons. Plus, the game's story is pretty bare bones compared to the amount of depth added into it by the novel. Like, the game never even explains how and why Optimus and Megatron know each other and why Megatron blames Optimus for an event that happened between them "so long ago" (as Optimus says in the game), yet the book goes into full detail on that matter.both the book and game came out on the exact same date, so neither take precedence over the other.

Maybe I'm just crazy, but I never got that feeling. It seemed to me that the volcano was just a symbolic sort of thing. :/ The volcano kind of looks like it has Dark Energon in it, so maybe it's a result of what seemed to be Dark Energon falling from the sky?

Or maybe he was embedded in a volcano on a different planet that somehow makes its way to earth, and then he breaks out of the planets volcano and in effect rains dark energon down on the neighboring earth.

But the absolute only thing to supposedly connect them is this book. The voices are differing in many, the very style (one clearly War Within meets G1, the other smooth computer animated uniquely different from almost all other TF styles to date) is worlds apart, and a supposed lack of details in a game gives much room for attachment to some existing series. The only thing attempting to tack The Hub's Prime series to a very different and originally intentionally separate game called War For Cybertron is this book. And, as much as I do love a good book, no one should have to do homework to know a backstory on a game or television series to know what's going on. I'd attribute this forced connection to that of Beast Wars and G1. BW gave connection points to both G1 comics and G1 toons. In the end you had fans that followed G1 comics with a BW continuation, G1 toons with a BW continuation, G1 Comics or Toons with no recognized connection to BW, G1 Comics or Toons with no recognized connection to BW but a recognized G1-ish never-told backstory BW, etc, etc. And in a multiverse view, or a seperate continuity entirely view, depending on preference, each has its very real validity in the franchise. As such, in this instance you have War For Cybertron stand alone - Exodus book with WfC events leading to Prime results (its own continuity) - TF: Prime stand alone, and WfC - Exodus expansion - Prime continuation. There are, of course, sub continuities/multiverse realities there, but you get the drift I'm sure.

For all of those who think "Why would Unicron be a shrimp cooking in a purple volcano?", lemme throw this idea out; who said Unicron is in a volcano? For all we know, Unicron's approaching presence is causing Dark Energon ruptures all over Earth, or worse; it could end up that Unicron is the planet Earth itself! That means he has acne!

On the flip/plus side, you get a little bit of a mature vibe that book reading is necessary... sorta elevating it to a level where the fans who are more super dedicated would reap that reward from reading the book. Does make it a little more cult/obscure, no?
Plus when you have seen/played all the games, theres a little extra to come back to in the form of a novel, to further fulfill your TF needs. IMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooo..............
