The official Transformers Collectors' Club has revealed the details regarding their upcoming subscription service. They expect service to live very soon and will provide the appropriate link when it does. See below:

TFCC wrote:1. You must be a member of the Transformers Collectors’ Club to take advantage of the Figure Subscription Service.

2. There is NO reason to rush the site or be in a hurry as this is a build to order system. We will build as many as you order, so we cannot run out. YOU CAN ORDER AS MANY AS YOU WANT, there is no limit.

3. What you do need to be concerned about is the closing date of the subscription service, which ENDS on September 10th at midnight.

4. You can either pay In Full or by Installment. There will be 3 installments. When you subscribe and choose pay by Installment, you will be billed for the first two months’ shipments. Then sometime during the second month, you will be billed for the 3rd and 4th months’ shipments and sometime during the 4th month you will be billed for the final 2 months’ shipments.

5. The figures will be shipped in random order. All members receive the same figures each month. The figure pairings will not be preannounced. So if you don’t mind, when you get your shipment each month, PLEASE do not go online and tell what you received. We want each shipment to be a surprise for as many members as possible.

6. The cost is $282 if Paid In Full (plus shipping) or three Installments of $94 (plus shipping). Please note that there is a $3 online processing fee for each billing. We take Visa, Discover or MasterCard. Unfortunately we cannot accept Money Orders or Checks for this offer.

7. If you pick a shipping service that does not include insurance or if you don’t pick the insurance, we do not have any responsibility for replacement of lost or damaged or misdirected orders.

8. If you move or need to change your credit card during the program, you can log into your account and change it there. This will change all of your future FSS billings and shipments. We will also be sending you reminders to check your address and cc before each billing/shipment goes out. We are not responsible for shipments that are lost due to incorrect shipping information on file.

9. We are waiting on the final schedule from China so we don’t know exactly when the first figures will ship, we “think” it will be sometime in January. We will announce this as soon as we get the final schedule.

10. Some of the figures (single figures) MAY be available in the Club Store after the subscriber’s figures ship. These will be at a much higher price per figure. There is no guarantee of availability of any of the figures in the club store. If you want to ensure getting these limited edition figures, you need to subscribe to the service.

Did I miss something, or did they leave out the most important details: How many figures do we get, and how often? 6 figures? 12 figures? One per month? Two per month? One every two months? Does the subscription last 12 months, six months...?

I like that they're made to order, it means once I pay for my subscription, I won't have to worry about them running out of anything.

No limits on the figures means the scalpers/ebay entrpeneurs will be all over this. That's fine though, as long as enough of them do it in high enough volume, the prices will be reasonable on the aftermarket for those that don't sign up for subscriptions.

It will be nice to be able to get doubles of one or two of these for the sake of customizing.

The subscription lasts until all the toys are shipped out. From what I remember (iirc, that is) there are Deluxes: Breakdown, G2 Nemesis Prime, Spark (or whatever his name), Jackpot, Slipstream, and one Mega: Ultra Mammoth.

All told, $285 is a pretty reasonable rate. Far more reasonable than I was expecting.

What I wanna know is, when does the subscription service go live so I can place my order?

For me $300 dollars is still a pretty hefty prictag for a handful of Transformers. I was hoping that there would be different subscription levels so that if you didn't want all of the figures you would at least have the option of getting what you want. It's either all or nothing I guess.

I don't even want to know what the shipping is gonna be if it's one payment for all the figures i can't see it being all of them for the price of one figures shipping.

i think this time round it might be better for me snag who i want off ebay i only want a couple anyway.

So are there only six figures? That's almost $50 per figure. And they mention "pairings" and "monthly" shipments. So are we going to get two figures per month for three months, and then it's over?

"The figure pairings will not be preannounced. So if you don’t mind, when you get your shipment each month"

Sounds like we'll get 2 figures each month, every other month, for 6 months. I did the math, and if they do arrive in January (as they hope, according to the article) then we'll get 2 figures in February, 2 in April, and 2 in June. Or maybe the "pairings" bit was a misspeak, in which case, expect 1 per month from January through June.

The only downside I see immediately is that this will fall during the same 6 month period that people are saving up and paying for Botcon. They should have considered running the subscription figures July through December so as not to compete with Botcon. With this schedule, I may have to choose between getting the subscription or going to Botcon. But I'm a collector with a very limited budget, so this probably won't affect hit most wallets as hard as it will mine.

If you only want 2 or 3 figures... find a friend who wants the opposite ones. Seem like everyone wants different figures.

I actually may buy an extra set and part them out to people who just want one or two figures. Hmmm. :-?

That seems to be underlying problem, as the whole set has something for everyone. We may need a thread for future trades in the Bazaar :P

Out of all of these, I only *really* want Slipstream (Fembot!!) and Breakdown. The others are only somewhat interesting.

As far as the remaining figures go, none of them strike me enough to want to keep them. I'll probably just sell them at cost to anyone who wants them.

Okay.. thought they would be a little cheaper if they weren't supposed to be coming in the fancy boxes.

next stupid question:

if you pay for the figures, and your membership runs out during the delivery period, and you don't renew, do you forfeit the remainder of the figures?

It said no limits on the number of figures purchases, that means people with subscriptions may purchase extras for other non-subscription members if they wish unless I read something wrong.

wow, it is a bit vague. hearing horror stories from people this side of the atlantic about the club's shipping, I'm going to pass. Scourge is the only one I really want there, but a couple of the other ones do look pretty cool.

Oh and remember "Don't go online and tell people what you got!"

That's really silly. I appreciate the sentiment, but there's no way it's not going to get spoiled by someone in the first batch of deliveries.

Pricier than I was hoping. And how is this so expensive? There is no packaging, pieces are made to order, it should be closer to $200 and free US shipping. Also, why not just roll the price of the credit card transaction into the their prices? It's a mandatory fee, just state the price is $285 or $97. Also, for people on a budget "sometime" in a two month window is not cool.

Now I know why this wasn't brought up at Botcon.

Edit: Will trade sealed United Stepper for Slipstream and Breakdown. PM me.

I'd like to perchase a Slipstream off somebody when these come out. As much as the rest are interesting, I don't really want any of them

I'm down for a set, but I feel for those who may not be able to afford/justify the total amount for select figures.

It is a shame that the made to order aspect seems directed towards the entire package and not just individual figures. Perhaps that can be reviewed at some point down the line.
