I didn't manage to go to TFNation this year, but I'll definitely go next year. I can't wait to see who they get on the guest list! :D

Mentioned on twitter not long after the announcement, but I'm seriously jonesing to go this year. Made it once to AA back in 2010(?) at the ripe old age of Like Thirteen Or Something, and even then as someone new to the fandom at large I had a great time. Hopefully next year I'll have the time and money to finally attend properly! It seems like an absolute riot, and I'm keen to like, actually talk to people rather than just buy stuff and get overwhelmed like I did all those years ago

...and yes, I know it's a good while away, mainly posting so that I'll get updates on the thread (and because if I tell people I wanna go, maybe that'll pressure me into actually getting around to it :P )

Transformers Rescue Bots DC Douglas to Attend TFNation 2018

Postby Va'al » Mon Dec 25, 2017 10:10 am

Motto: "Till All Are Pun!"
We have a gift to us all from the TFNation HQ - the biggest UK fan convention for Transformers, taking place in Birmingham once more this August 2018 - in the form of their first guest at the event: Transformers Rescue Bots voice actor (and major source of news about the show) DC Douglas!

Better known in Transformers for his work on Chase, he's covered many many roles in his career; take a look below at the announcement, and let us know if you'll be joining this summer!

Operation: First 2018 Guest Acquired!

The first reveal of this new season of TFNation comes from the voice acting world, for fans of all ages: introducing, D.C. Douglas!

Famous in the Transformers franchise for his role as Chase the Police Bot in Rescue Bots, Douglas has been a regular go-to resource for updates about the show itself and is also well known beyond the transforming robot world.

If you're a videogame aficionado, you will recognise him as Legion in the Mass Effect series - a gestalt artificial intelligence unit. Both Chase and Legion were similarly influenced by Leonard Nimoy's approach to Spock, in their respective ways.

He has also appeared in seven Resident Evil games as Albert Wesker, as Kamoshida in Persona 5, Pod 042in Nier: Automata, Azrael in Blazeblue, Zero in Zero Time Dilemma 3, Raven in Tekken 6, and foxy grandpa Gunter in Fire Emblem: Fates.

If cartoons and anime are more your thing, you will have heard him voicing X Drake in One Piece, The Professor in Cyborg 009, Jasley in Mobile Suit Gundam: IBO, Genji Kamogawa in Hajime no ippo, Shori Shibuya in God, Save Our King!, and Colonel Rawls on Regular Show, Superman on Family Guy.

His on camera roles include the seminal cinematographic masterpiece Sharknado 2 (Bud), plus Zepht in Star Trek: Enterprise, Pa Kettle in Z Nation, and Aiden Wexler in SyFy’s Isle of the Dead.

D.C. Douglas will be joining TFNation for the entire duration of the convention, offering autographs, photo opportunities where possible and joining panels over the weekend.

Launch tickets, bedrooms details, further guests and activities will be announced in the coming months. Keep monitoring this frequency.

Musician Stan Bush to Attend TFNation 2018, plus Concert Info

Postby Va'al » Fri Jan 05, 2018 1:04 pm

Motto: "Till All Are Pun!"
This latest update from TFNation is bound to make a number of UK and other European fans quite happy: there will be a concert during the event, and its headliner is none other than the man himself - Stan Bush! For the first time in a long run of years (other than two gig appearances in 2007 and 2015), the original soundtracker will be headed across the pond to attend the UK summer event, as both day guest and evening entertainer, for autographs, photo opportunities, and more. Dare you book a ticket once they're released in February?

Read on below for more information, and particularly take notice of the extra fee for the concert, due to the added expense of technical equipment and logistics for the gig itself.

Operation: Dare to Believe!

If you attend TFNation in 2018 you'll have the touch! You'll have the power! Most importantly, you'll also have the Emmy award-winning, Transformers Hall of Famer, Stan Bush!

To Transformers fans, Stan is best known for performing iconic songs "The Touch" and "Dare" which featured prominently in 1986's Transformers: The Movie. He has subsequently released additional tracks inspired by the Cybertronians, perhaps most notably, 2007's "Till All Are One".

As well as appearing on countless releases of Transformers: The Movie, his work can also be heard during the Transformers: War for Cybertron video game.

Of course, there is much more to Stan's arsenal than giant robots! He is an Emmy award-winning artist who has released fourteen studio albums over an incredible 35-year career. His most recent album, "Change the World", was released in 2017 and is available at http://www.stanbush.com and on itunes.

Stan has also lent his considerable talents to various movies such as The Wraith (1986) and Kickboxer (1989). He provided music for the US dub of Sailor Moon and most recently, the Netflix series GLOW. In the video game world, as well as the aforementioned Transformers: War for Cybertron, his work has also been included on Saints Row IV and even Guitar Hero!

We'll be putting Stan right in the eye of the storm for the full weekend of TFNation 2018, where he will be participating in panels, meeting fans and signing autographs at no additional cost.

In addition, Stan has kindly offered to perform a full concert for his fans at TFNation!

The concert will take place on the Saturday evening of the convention, after the conclusion of our "Clubcon" evening entertainment for weekend pass holders. Like all events taking place at TFNation, attendance is strictly subject to availability and room capacity.

We appreciate this may be a once in a lifetime opportunity for many of our attendees so, to ensure the concert is as impressive as it deserves to be, TFNation has hired suitable function space, instruments, a professional audio set up and a full live band. This is an additional event, taking place beyond our usual budget, so to accommodate these extra measures (and to avoid a price rise across all ticket types) there will be an additional concert entrance fee.

Tickets will be available from our website, in addition to regular TFNation packages, on 3rd February 2018. For Saturday only attendees, concert tickets will be £20.00. For full weekend pass holders, concert tickets will be on sale at the reduced price of £15.00.

At this time we do not have plans to open ticket sales to non-attendees, as we believe demand will be extremely high and it is important to us that TFNation attendees have first option to watch Stan in action. We may reassess the position closer to the event, but only if available places and capacity allow.

After all is said and done, Stan Bush will be joining TFNation for the entire duration of the convention, from 17th to 19th August 2018, at a place where dreams survive; the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel!

Launch tickets, bedrooms details, further guests and activities will be announced in the coming months. Keep monitoring this frequency.

Does Stan Bush "touch" anything thats not Transformers related? I dont know nothing much about rock music, but it seems instead of Transformers being a stepping stone for his music career, its become a brick wall. Maybe he should get into celebrity boxing. I would love to see Stan Bush fight Vanilla Ice.

Writer James Roberts to Attend TFNation 2018, plus Pricing Updates

Postby Va'al » Sun Jan 14, 2018 5:45 am

Motto: "Till All Are Pun!"
We have a couple more updates from UK-based Transformers fan convention TFNation, taking place this summer in Birmingham for the third year running, regarding both general pricing (for entry and accommodation) and a returning guest announcement: IDW writer James Roberts!

Tickets and hotel bookings will be on sale as of 3rd February, and you can read more about pricing at this link, and more on the guests below.

A regular guest for the past two years, and a staple name in the new Transformers lore from IDW, we're proud to announce James Roberts' presence at TFNation 2018.

As many current IDW creators, Roberts was a member of the Transmasters UK fan community way back in the day of early Marvel comics. He has been a fan wordsmith ever since, and with All Hail Megatron #15 (2009) and Last Stand of the Wreckers (2010), both next to Nick Roche, he has entered made his mark on the Cybertronian universe.

Currently behind IDW Publishing's Lost Light series next to a number of artists - but mostly Jack Lawrence - and risen to fan-favourite with the series' predecessor More Than Meets The Eye, Roberts has a streak for the dark, the political, cult science-fiction, TV shows, and old New Wave & Britpop music.

He will be signing autographs, breaking hearts, and selling scripts at TFNation 2018.

IDW Artist Jack Lawrence to Attend TFNation 2018

Postby Va'al » Fri Jan 19, 2018 1:03 pm

The latest update from TFNation headquarters brings us another comics guest to the UK Transformers event taking place this August in Birmingham: current regular artist on IDW Publishing's Lost Light, Jack Lawrence! Take a look below at some of his other credits, and make sure to stay tuned as the month changes for room and ticket bookings for the convention.

Operation: Jack and Rule

After the success of his first appearance at TFNation 2017, we are proud and happy to announce the return of artist Jack Lawrence!

One of the several UK-based robot creators hailing from the Transmasters stables - along with Lost Light co-creator James Roberts, also attending the event - Jack has been gracing the interiors and covers of IDW Publishing's fan favourite Transformers title, as well as warming hearts of fans through online presence and event attendance.

Before joining the politically romantic space horror opera that is Lost Light, Jack worked for a wide range of publishers, from Dark Horse to Image, via self-publishing and 2000AD, bringing his skills to characters such as TMNT, Dr Who, Sinister Dexter, and Skylanders.

He is an eager and vocal member of the Dungeons & Dragons community, and table-top gaming in general, and all round nerd. His art can also be found in several collections of reference material for well-love geek franchises, such as Dreamworks' Dragons, Marvel Figurines, and Batman Automobilia.

Jack will be signing autographs, selling sketches and artwork, including commissions, in our guest area all weekend. Launch tickets, bedrooms, pricing, further guests and activities will be announced in the coming months. Keep monitoring this frequency. Marvel and IDW Artist Nick Roche to Attend TFNation 2018

Postby Va'al » Fri Jan 26, 2018 1:15 pm

Motto: "Till All Are Pun!"
Yet another update just in time for the weekend, from the folks at TFNation - the UK's biggest Transformers fan convention, taking place for the third year this summer in Birmingham - and it's another name from the comics: Nick Roche!

Currently busy on Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows, you can read more about the Transformers fan that ran off to non-robot things (but will still do covers) below. And make sure to book your tickets once they go on sale on February 3rd!

Operation: The One That Got Away

One of the returning guests to TFNation 2018 is currently only involved in Transformers by the series of variant covers for ongoing IDW Publishing comics series Transformers: Lost Light, but Nick Roche still holds a dear place in the fandom since his noteworthy debut on Spotlight: Shockwave (as artist) and Spotlight: Kup (as artist and writer).

Another of the original Transmasters UK fan community members, during the era of early Marvel comics, Roche has collaborated with writer James Roberts (also attending the TFNation) on fan-favourite Last Stand of the Wreckers, and took it solo, with Josh Burcham on colours, on its moving sequel - Sins of the Wreckers.

Since then, Roche has been seen mostly outside of the printed realm of Transformers comics, working as co-creator and artist on one-shots Monster Motors and Monster Motors: The Curse of Minivan Helsing (with Brian Lynch), and interior artist on Marvel’s Revolutionary War, Revolutionary War: Death’s Head II, New Warriors, and most recently Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows (with Jody Houser). He also regularly contributes cover art to Marvel and IDW comics, including the likes of Clue, Deadpool vs The Punisher, Doctor Who, Robotech, TMNT, and more.

Nick Roche will be attending all weekend, and offering autographs and sketches to attendees – though please check in advance for availability for personalised artwork. You can find out more about his pre-order list at his blog (https://nickroche.blogspot.co.uk/) closer to TFNation 2018.

We've received another email update from the TFNation team, and it contains another guest announcement for this year's Birmingham, UK, convention! In addition to their already star-studded list of guests, including Nick Roche, James Roberts, and Stan Bush, original Transformers comic artist Mike Collins will be in attendance! You might know him from his involvement in the original Marvel TF comics, or his work with the Transformers Ladybird series of books, or his storyboard work for Doctor Who and Sherlock! Check out the full guest description, provided by TFNation, below!

Operation: Mike of Iron

A new guest joining us for TFNation 2018, but by no means a newcomer to the Transformers scene is artist Mike Collins! Mike was the hands behind the Man of Iron (1985/87), the first story in the Marvel comics originating in the UK, and several more, eventually also co-writing Crisis of Command! (1985-86), which introduced the recurring self-doubting character trait in Optimus Prime.
Despite leaving the comics by the end of 1985, he didn’t leave Transformers entirely behind: along with Mike Farmer, he illustrated the first four Ladybird Transformers books, which became the gateway to Transformers fiction for a number of children at the time.

Mike continued to contribute to other comics, though moving into Action Force, the European precursor to G.I. Joe, which also included recent returner and fan-favourite Action Man. Mike later made his way to 2000AD, Marvel and DC, and his art can be found in the pages of Flash, Teen Titans, and The Uncanny X-Men – where he first introduced the questionable but charming character of Gambit. He has also worked on the likes of Star Trek, Wonder Woman, several 2000AD titles, and as of 2005, returning to UK material with Doctor Who Magazine, and the two Doctor Who original Graphic Novels published by the BBC.

A name you might also know from outside of comics, Mike has provided storyboards for TV and films including Doctor Who, Horrid Henry, and Sherlock.

Mike will be present at TFNation 2018 all weekend, signing autographs, talking fandom, and probably willing to sketch some art for attendees

Voice Actor Daniel Riordan to Attend TFNation 2018

Postby Va'al » Fri Mar 16, 2018 1:12 pm

Motto: "Till All Are Pun!"
TFNation headquarters has sent out another announcement about their guests for this summer's 2018 edition of the UK fan Transformers convention, and in the spirit of the 'lesser known' franchises being celebrated, they secured none other than the voice of Megatron from Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2001)! Check out more info below.

TFNation_2018
Operation: A Handful of Voices

The second voice actor that TFNation is proud to present for 2018 hails from the land of the early 2000s, and the series that some will argue is called Car Robots, when we all really know it as Robots in Disguise (2001) - please join us in welcoming the man behind Megatron, leader of the Predacons: Daniel Riordan!

As well as voicing the purple leader Megatron, Daniel remained at the mic for the gold and white upgrade Galvatron, and is so far the only voice actor famous for lending his talents to a robot, jet, bat, two-headed dragon, giant flying hand, roadster, winged griffin, one-headed dragon, hydroplane, and an elephant, all while only really voicing the same character.

In a fun twist, he also voiced Omega Prime, the combined form of Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus and leader of the Autobot side, opponent and eventual vanquisher of Galvatron in the final episode of the series.

In other Transformers appearances you may recognise, Daniel was behind the 2007 videogame based on the Paramount live-action series, and specifically, the Decepticon characters of Bonecrusher and Shockwave. He has also been involved in several videogame franchises as secondary and additional character voices, with the likes of Final Fantasy XIII, Mass Effect III, Age of Empires III, Skyrim, and more.

On screen, both big and small, he is well known for his roles in Dreamgirls, Jingle All The Way, The Adventures of Captain Zoom in Outer Space, and a brief presence in Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Wild Thornberrys.

Daniel Riordan will be present all of the TFNation 2018 weekend, signing autographs, available for quick photo opportunities, and eager to meet fans of his work and of Transformers in general!

Operation: The Art Bringer

Another returning guest to the 2018 edition of TFNation is the fan-beloved artist from the big cold white North, Alex Milne!

Milne has been working as a creator for Transformers since the days of Devil’s Due Press’ GI Joe vs the Transformers, various collaborations with Fun Publications and eventually moving to regular, serialised work with Dreamwave and IDW Publishing. As the regular co-creator on Transformer: More Than Meets the Eye, Milne has rendered hearts and tears in painstaking detail, bringing some of the more expressive robot faceplates to the pages of comics.

Alongside and after MTMTE, Milne has provided covers for a range of IDW Publishing comics, Transformers and elsewhere, as well as providing interior art for an issue of Transformers: Lost Light. His most recent collaboration saw him partner once more with writer John Barber (and Christos Gage) on the prequel mini-series Rom vs The Transformers: Shining Armor - but the perhaps bigger news is his presence as artist for the upcoming Unicron: Darkest Hour #0 Free Comic Book Day issue due in May 2018.

Alex Milne will be signing autographs, selling artwork, and attempting to complete commissions at TFNation 2018, as he is always in extremely high demand.

Operation: Damn, He’s Good

TFNation is proud to present another voice acting guest for the 2018 edition, and we roll over to the live-action movie universe and the media that spun out of the Paramount series. Join us in giving a warm welcome to voice actor André Sogliuzzo!

Lending his talents to the character of Sideswipe in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Sogliuzzo has also been behind the scenes for the well-received video game Transformers: Devastation, portraying the likes of Scavenger, Thundercracker, and one of the unnamed Seekers found in the game. Most recently, he has featured in the animated series Robots in Disguise, as the voice of Scavenger Clawtrap.

You may also recognise him from a number of other video game franchises, such as Skyrim, Everquest II, and Scarface: The World is Yours. For fans and followers of animated series and cartoons, you will have found Sogliuzzo in G.I. Joe: Renegades (as Major Bludd), Avatar: The Last Airbender (as Hakoda and King Bumi), Courage the Cowardly Dog, the Stuart Little TV series, and will soon be heard in the upcoming Spyro Reignited Trilogy.

He has also been a regular actor for the Star Wars franchise, appearing as various characters in the Knights of the Old Republic games, and as Commander Cody (and others) in the version of the Star Wars: Clone Wars series directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, plus a number of voices in the recently concluded Star Wars: Rebels.

André Sogliuzzo will be present for all of the TFNation 2018 weekend, signing autographs, available for photo opportunities, and ready to meet fans of Transformers, voice acting, his work, and the franchises he’s been a part of!

It's nice to see TFNation going beyond the usual "Two or three voice actors and about twelve IDW comic people" line-up with their guests, it shows how much they've grown since starting. I do regret not going to TFNation last year, and as the old saying goes, absence makes the heart grow fonder. Part of me hopes they'll announce a Beast Wars voice actor for this year, but even if they don't, I'm still excited.

Joining the line-up of comics guests for 2018, TFNation is pleased to announce the presence of another UK based artist – well known to fans of the original Marvel UK Transformers comics series – Lew Stringer!

Famous predominantly for his humour work, he was a stable component of the Marvel UK Transformers issues, providing a light-hearted relief to the stories in the form of two featured strips: Robo-Capers and Combat Colin (initially in the pages of Action Force, the UK incarnation of G.I. Joe, then replacing Robo-Capers in Transformers).

His very first venture onto the comics stage was Brickman, which ran from the 1970s up until 2009 in various forms. Stringer is well known in the UK for his work as an independent comics creator, but also for his work appearing in the pages of The Beano and The Dandy weekly kids’ comic magazines, alongside other licensed magazines such as Spider-Man, Epic, Lego Adventures and more. Internationally, his work has appeared in the likes of Elephantmen and Grindhouse in the US market, Herman Hedning in Sweden, and Nemi in Norway.

Thanks to his comics work as a creator, Stringer is well-versed in the history of the British comics industry and scene, and regularly offers insights, analyses, and discussions of current and past trends on his blog, Blimey! It’s Another Blog about Comics!

Lew Stringer will be attending TFNation 2018 all weekend, talking capers, silly jokes, and sketching for fans of his work, as well as discussing comics history in general!

I enjoyed Combat Colin a lot back in the day. :)
I have anxiety, depression and aspergers syndrome so my behaviour can be erratic. I don't mean offense to anyone. Just very picky about my Transformers collecting. You're all cool! :)

Likes: Bayverse, Marvel UK G1, Geoff Senior art, '86 movie (more for style/soundtrack rather than Star Wars plot)
Dislikes: Bumblebee movie (lousy rehashed dumb crud), TFA, G1 cartoon, IDW G1, BW/BM, MP. The entire concept of Autobot Megatron
