The Anime Discussion Thread

I was kinda waiting for someone else to start a thread about anime on here, but it just seems like that's not happening, so I guess I'm going to have too.

This thread is a place to discuss your favorite anime/manga from all angles. Wether its subbed, dubbed, or you understand every word. Here's a place to discuss wich anime your currently watching, planning on watching and wich one was your favorite, and what anime is currently coming out at the moment, a game series, whatever pleases.

I hope this thread gets attention, because if it does, there is A LOT to talk about!

Naruto Shippuden FTW. I watch it in Japanese and English subtitles. Makes much more sense that way, and the Japanese voice actors are always better at emotional scenes.

I also liked Death Note, but it was too short.

After I'm done with Naruto if it ever ends) it's onto InuYasha or Full Metal Alchemist. Haven't decided which.

And I'm watching Robotech on Netflix. 80s toons rock.

First thing you need to know about Full Metal Alchemist:
There are two series total.
the original one strays off into uncharted territory to a point were, If you read the original manga, all it is is one long WTF. but its forgivable, because they made...
Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood!
You watch Brotherhood, and it sticks fine to the story (More or less here and there) But if you have netflix, may I make a suggestion?

Gurren Lagann.

It's dubbed, but it's dubbed FANTASTICALLY. Id'e go so far as to say it's perfect. That, and it's just amazing. I mean, it's the pure definition of starting out small, and growing and surpassing everything that's expected of you as a race. Fighting powered by only fighting spirit, PURE willpower! It's limitless!

Also, when you invent teleportation, JUST to punch a guy flat in the face? Well... That speaks for itself.

Is FMA brotherhood the one where one brother's spirit is trapped in an armor?

And if Gurren Lagann is streaming on Netflix I'll check it out after Robotech.

Both of them are the same. They tell the same story, up to a certain point, but the original breaks off and does it's own thing.
FMA: Brotherhood, however, Follows the real story, and is much more impacting. Sub or dub doesn't matter on them, cause they both are amazing, really.

I hope you check out Gurren Lagann sooner than later though, seeing as how is only, like, 26 episodes, and it's on youtube legaly through MANGAintertainment's channel. Same with FMA, it's on Funimation's channel, so there's that too.

Havn't been this confused since FLCL...

I watch dubs. If I wanted subtitles, I would read manga.

I've watched a lot of stuff lately. Vampire Knight and Vampire Knight Guilty are both awesome to see. Thoroughly enjoyed them.

Working on Black Butler right now. Sebastian is simply one hell of a butler.

Heaven's lost Property... That was weird, yet strangely hilarious.

Spike and Jet are bounty hunters, also called Cowboys. They travel the solar system hunting bounties, but because Spike has problems with self-restraint, the bounty ends up dead and, thus, they don't get paid. Along the way they are joined by Ein, Faye, and Ed, who you should be able to figure out just by seeing them. It is not a complicated series. There are only five episodes that actually tie together, the rest are villain-of-the-week format. Though Cowboy Funk is my favorite.

You just sold me on this series.

And if I ever have a son, I'm naming that little bastard Spike Spiegel. He'll either thank me or hate me for the rest of his life.

It confused me because, in one episode they all die, and they are all alive in the next. So I get to thinking these are all stand alone episodes. Then suddenly *DING* a storyline! And then no story anymore...

Oh, right. That one. Yeah, no one really understands that one. It could be that they managed to get treatment in time, or that it wasn't really lethal. But yeah, no one gets that one.

As for the storyline, like I said, five episodes total.

Which reminds me, I never did finish watching Stand Alone Complex Second Gig...

For the record, Soul Eater was just great all around. Problem is, they didn't keep on track with the whole "99 souls and 1 witch's soul" thing. It's like they just said "screw it, lets go save the world and surpass death scythe power our own way"
If you ever get a chance to watch soul eater, don't hesitate...

Hate to be kicked by that guy...
Hey, he also wrote a manga didn't he?
Something about some person who could spout every weapon known to man from rings on his/her back or something?
(I don't remember to much about it...)

I watched Gurren Lagann. It was awesome. It was weird how the Spiral Kings intentions were for the greater good through evil actions. Darker Than Black was awesome. Neon Genesis was great. That turned out to be 3 different versions. I didn't read the third one though because it was just a romance story pretty much. Sailor Moon was long and it turns out they had a live action version of it too. Watched all of the Dragonball series including Z and GT and all the movies. Bleach, Naruto and One Piece are STILL going which is pretty cool. FMA was awesome and the movie that took place about them going through WW2 on an alternate Earth. I feel the show Fringe should be an anime. Witchblade is on Netflix. ALOT different than the comics and the live action show from the 90s. FLCL is just awesome. I can go on all night but that takes too long...

Brotherhood finished a while ago, man. The English dub finished airing on Adult Swim last year, and the original Japanese finished the year before that.

This is what happens when Gainax gets drunk and watches too much Drawn Together, and no, that's not a joke that's how production started.

And it is fantastic.
