That looks amazing. Is it too early to reserve a few dozen tickets? I don't think I could see this just once.

My mind is still blown by all of it. Have they ever done five movies with the intention of having them all end with one massive crossover movie before?

Well, maybe there are more than one? I don't think the filmmakers tipped their hand on everything.

I was thinking that myself. Methinks he's involved in bringing them to Earth.

You say that like it's a bad thing. It's your birthday, you say "Hey, let's go see this movie" and they are obligated to take you. That the rules of Birthday.

Awesome as it does look, I can't help but feel the alien invasion premise is being overdone.

I've been hanging out for this for a long time, and despite it opening two days ago, I waited until today to go and see it.

IT WAS **** AWESOME!

You guys have to understand, through out the movie i've been wanting to talk to someone about it, as soon as it ended I wanted to find an internet cafe to splooge but instead waited to get home.

IT IS THAT **** AWESOME!

The whole story flowed together, it was perfectly written, all the characters came together perfectly (after they beat the hell out of each other). Everything was done right I felt.

Stand outs? None. Well none you could single out.

Robert Downey Jr. is still perfect as Tony Stark. Going into the movie I expected him to over shadow everyone, but that's not the case. His character is larger than life, but everything is balanced so he's not taking up all the screen time.

As for the rest, Chris Evans felt more comfortable as Captain America. Of the stand alone movies, that was my least favourite and I didn't feel he was suited for the role, but there was none of that with this movie.

Chris Hemsworth also stepped up in his role as Thor. We get to see more of the "thunder god" unleashing his abilities.

Mark Ruffalo was the wildcard as Bruce Banner. He's stepping into a role that others have tried, and he did a good job. While he may not have had the screen time of the others, he fitted in well. And when the monster was unleashed ... then destruction was to be had.

Captain America giving orders wrote:Hulk. Smash!

Scarlett Johansson was a surprise for me. She had a larger role than in previous movies and she really brought the character to life (though part of me is still wishing for a Russian accent). I left hoping for her to get her own "origins" movie.

Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury, meh ... nothing stand out here, he did his job.

Another surprise for me was Cobie Smulders (Robin from How I met your Mother) as Maria Hill. It wasn't a large role, but the potential is there for the character to grow.

Now the last character ... Agent Phil Coulson played by Clark Gregg. He's been there with all the movies and his special feature on the Thor DVD brought them all together. He's a character that's grown through the movies, he may not be super powered, but there's something about him that I liked. Which is why ...

I shed a tear when he died. Part of my screams out that there was no need for him to die, but in the greater scheme of things ... he did.

The movie is two and a half hours or so long. You don't notice it though. The pacing is perfect. There's plenty of one liners that give plenty of chuckles (even from Hulk!). Overall, everything has come together perfectly and even though all movies have flaws, these ones are drastically outweighed by the positives.

I suspect that even with Prometheus and Dark Knight Rises (both of which were previewed before Avengers) coming out later this year, The Avengers will be the movie of the year for me.

(And for those who like to spot him, Stan Lee's appearance is towards the end of the movie after the final battle)

Oh and like all Marvel movies, there is another scene mid-credits. Setting up for Avengers 2 with the big bad revealed to be Thanos.

Go and see it. I'll be very surprised if you don't enjoy it.

That movie was spectacular! I went in there with the mind to try and find something wrong with it, because the hype couldn't be spot on.

Try as I might, I couldn't. The pacing was great. Because of the other movies they didn't waste time trying to explain anyone's backstory. I was also concerned that Ironman might take too much of a role for fear that Captain America might not be recieved well in non-American countries, but the character time was well balanced and their interactions were well done and believable.

I also thought Loki looked a bit cheesy in the trailers and art but on the big screen he was awesome!

The Hulk stole the show, I thought, and my concerns with edward Norton not reprising the role were quickly quashed.

This is one of the best, if not the best movie I have seen.

I can't wait. Sounds like it will be fun. I did have my doubts because of Joss Whedon, but most of the Marvel movies turned out well so far, so I'm looking forward to this.

Rodimus Prime? You had doubts...because of Joss Whedon? This makes no sense to me, but hey, whatever. I got in from seeing it a couple of hours ago and I'm ready to go back and watch it again.
FANTASTIC. How big hollywood blockbusters should be done: Every character (including the large supporting cast, as well as the main ensemble) got a couple of moments in the spotlight, the pacing was great, the action scenes looked big, dramatic, and it was easy to tell who everyone was and where they were and what they were doing. All this and some shots of ladies bums.

Whedon basically outdid Bay in every sense, and still delivered something with heart and a relatively decent plot.

That post/mid- credits scene revealing a future big-bad as well? ZOMG! :BOOM: :KREMZEEK:

The way I hear it, yeah, there are some people who don't like Joss Whedon. I never understood why, though.

And I'll be honest, after all these rave reviews in this thread alone, now I'm pumped for this movie for real. Still haven't seen Thor, though, but that's supposed to be the weakest out of the bunch, isn't it?

Buffy Season Six. To me, anyway. And especially now, considering this:

There probably wasn't. But then again, this IS a Joss Whedon production. And killing off characters for no good reason is what he's best known for. (RE: Tara, Fred, Giles in Season Eight...)

From Wikipedia: Director Joss Whedon is known for "killing off beloved characters", but Gregg stated that Whedon confirmed Coulson will survive the events of the film.

Somebody lied...big time.

I like Whedon and the stuff he's done just fine. But how many of his "projects" have survived TV and other mediums? There's a reason for that. Let me make it clear, I am a fan of Marvel and even Whedon's work. So this will be a great movie, no doubt, even if there may be a few things off.

I heard the main reasons to see the film are Tony Stark and Hulk, who doesn't even show up until the last 3rd. Banner will be there, but doesn't turn. The others just put in the time, but these 2 steal the movie. Also, apparently Loki was awesome as well. Also, I heard that the villain for The Avengers 2 will be Thanos.

Whedon outdid practically EVERY director. But really, was there a need for a Bay jab? He directed, he didn't write. Whedon is a writer and director so he already has that advantage over not just Bay, but a lot of directors.

I saw the first Transformers weeks before anyone else ... and I shared a cinema with Megan Fox and Rachel Taylor and Michael Bay introduced the movie for us.

But you probably didn't want to hear that.

If it's any consolation, for some reason the cinemas near me only had two showings a day so I don't think it was a full release.

You lucky, lucky a-hole.

To be fair, he also had to share an enclosed space with Megan Fox, so it all kind of evens out.

I was trying not think about that part, and I successfully forgot about it until now. Thank you very much.

But Rachael Taylor trumps Megan Fox in every positive quality I look for in a woman. I think she could have played Carly very well.

And I liked Isabel Lucas's character, even if it was a rip-off of the T-X from Terminator 3. She's cute, but not as beautiful as Rachael Taylor. I wish she picked better roles than what she's done since the first film...

It's funny how the US sees a movie for once weeks after the rest of the world. Image
