[CLOSED] The Convergence

The noose around Fortress Maximus' neck tightens. Will the Decepticon 2nd fleet led by mighty Scorponok finally subjugate their old nemesis? And if they do, what will be the fate of the Autobot resistance?

Normally, Cyclonus was not the type of mech that an average Decepticon would address casually. Even more rare were the Decepticons whom Cyclonus would respond to in kind. Banzai-tron, given his respected position as the head of the Decepticon Secret Service, was such a mech.

"Indeed. Maximus' house of cards will collapse just as surely as we are standing here now," Cyclonus said calmly, watching the positioning of the Autobot ships via the optical feed from Reflector while also looking at Banzai-Tron, Scourge and his armada of Sweeps. The Steelhaven was in almost perfect positioning now. Cyclonus was not the type to waste a well-executed strategy. A simple nod to one of the Sweeps indicated that the lower bay doors could be opened. An integrity field was engaged as the large bay doors slowly slid out of the way.

"Scourge, you know the plan. Dispatch and incapacitate," Cyclonus said as he moved toward the boarding tube that would eventually connect to the Steelhaven and allow for the Decepticons to commence their internal assault on the potent Autobot battleship. Cyclonus turned his attention to Banzai-tron once more.

"You will join the boarding force with me. The Terrorcons will spearhead our compliment of Sweeps. Your skills with not sit idle, I assure you."

Scourge nodded and waved forward a division of Sweeps that he had selected for his part of the assault. As soon as the bay doors and the integrity field had shifted properly, Scourge took to the air, transformed and shot out of the Decepticon flagship, where he was quickly followed by about a dozen similarly-styled aircraft.

Umbra smiled absentmindedly as she moved Scowl's defender to the desired location. It was hard to a get a read on Scowl's intentions, considering this was her first game with him. Ah, well. She could make mistakes. There was more than enough time to kill in between activity periods. Nothing but time here. She wondered how long she would be held for. Prison sentences during the war seemed indefinite, judging from Icepick's predicament.

"Something's going on. Whatever this is, it is not a drill."

Icepick's words jarred the agent from her peaceful reverie and brought her back to reality. Umbra shot up to her feet and walked over to peer outside of her cell, sensors primed to look for and listen for anything odd. She didn't have to look hard. Down below, guards were jogging - well, more on the verge of sprinting really - with nervous and uncertain looks on their faces. Wrong. Very wrong. She heard some indistinct whispers. Frowning, she strained her audios to pick out any words.

Nothing distinct. Slag it all. What in Pit was going on? Umbra heard Scowl tap out something, but she couldn't really make out what he was trying to communicate. She had only just learned the code, and this message was not another move on the game board.

"Icepick..." the agent began as she watched the guards scurry about on all levels, "What is Scowl saying?"

Pestilence - Bridge

Thoom. Tap-tap-tap. Thoom. Tap-tap-tap.

Snaptrap glowered intently outward with his amber optics, watching the Autobots seize the bait. They did, however, somehow manage to strike first. Not the Decepticons. An unusual turn of events. Whatever fate awaited those in the surviving vessel would be well deserved - after they finished their job. The Seacon commander was more concerned about the Pestilence's role. He was ready, waiting to strike with all of the might that the Insecticons' ship could muster. The full fury of the Decepticon fleet would rain down upon that insignificant rock and begin a glorious...slaughter. So very ready.

Tap-tap-tap.

Snaptrap was not one prone to fidgeting or any other outward display of emotion. His Seacons knew that better than anyone. Where another would think nothing of the drumming of the Seacon commander's digits on the arm of the command chair, his fellow Seacons would know - only they - would recognize it as a rare display of anticipation, a primal eagerness for the coming massacre.

Tap-tap-tap.

Far too much time had passed by leisurely on Nebulos, picking off weak Autobots. Too long had they been idle. Too long had they not tasted real combat once more. Too long. But soon. Very soon. They would get the chance. Eagerness tempered with the patience of a predator infused Snaptrap. His amber optics scanned the screens in front of him, making all last minute checks.

Tap-tap-tap.

Tentakil was arguably the most patient out of the Seacons, and this circumstance was no exception to the rule. So long as Tentakil had reasonable assurances of some destruction to come, he was usually content to wait for the right opportunity to present itself. In this case, he had no real choice but to wait, but he was content just the same. Destruction would be coming and he would enjoy it when it did.

*Thoom. Tap-tap-tap. Thoom. Tap-tap-tap*

What the slag was that noise?

*Tap-tap-tap*

Tentakil looked around the various navigational controls to ensure that something had not suddenly gone wrong with this disgusting Insecticon rustheap. He then looked around and--oh.

The boss.

Tentakil sighed with relief and returned his attention to the battle taking place on the viewscreen in front of him. This was better than shelling out creds for gladiator combat holos back in the day. Tentakil would patiently wait until he was given the command to get his own piece of it.

The Pestilence--Bounce Chamber

"I smell a battle battle," Shrapnel said.

"Our time approaches," Bombshell agreed, looking around the bounce chamber of their beautiful hiveship. Diaclones derived from the core designs of the primary Insecticons filled the area, as well as the exterior corridors and every ancillary duct, tunnel or other entrance into said chamber, chittering excitedly as even their most basic programmed instincts easily clued them in as to what was coming.

A feast.

"The Seacon cracks his whip and we stand to, is that it?" Kickback asked dryly. A small bolt of electricity traveled up one side of Shrapnel's oversized antennae and down the other as Bombshell barely nodded.

"For now. Until we take the whip away from him."

Garrus-9--Southern Wing--Block B

Icepick's digits lightly touched bars in front of him, his optics still taking in as much as he could from the surrounding decks of the southern detention wing.

The Monstercon's attention was momentarily pulled from the prison staffs' activity as a new coded message came through--this one not being intended for a continuation of the game that Scowl had going with Umbra. Instead it was meant for him and related to the goings on in the prison. Unsurprisingly, Scowl had managed to receive more auditory input regarding said activities than Icepick could ever hope to.

"We've not seen one in some time," Icepick said, his voice even. Even whispering, he was sure that his fellow comrade in the Monstructor Six would be able to hear him, but there was no real need for any increased secrecy, at least so far as Icepick could tell. "The last one I can recall was when a few guards accidentally allowed five of us to be in the activity yard at the same time, with Slog not far behind. That got resolved quickly though. Oh, and there was the time they received a new inmate that was being sentenced directly to the Rig. That's what I heard. It's been a while, in any event. Basically it means all staff are on extra--"

On all levels of the prison ward, any open doors began to slam shut after an increased number of guards took their monitoring positions. Massive locks could be heard slamming into to place.

"I'm intrigued. I wonder if someone's escaped. Someone important. I can't imagine a more futile gesture in an isolated place like this, but who knows. Might make things interesting for a few breems."

Anything to pass this nigh-endless prison sentence more quickly. As Umbra addressed her question to him, Icepick answered after only a moment's consideration.

"He has excellent hearing, Scowl does. The warden has apparently enacted a Code Beta, according to some overheard guard chatter. Means something actually is going on. Somewhere."

Garrus 9 – Rung’s Office

There was a small thud as Streamlight let his head drop back down onto the couch. He hadn’t expected this session would turn into Primus knew how many. And there really wasn’t anything he could do about it. Rung was holding all the cards. His best bet – feed the lithe little doctor everything he wanted. He just hoped it would work.

“I’m sorry, Streamlight. I should have mentioned that these would be ongoing sessions.” Rung intoned lowly. “You think?!” The young mech ground out before looking up at the orange bot. With a small huff Streamlight turned his head so he was looking up at the ceiling. Both Autobots were quiet for a long while before Rung cleared his throat. “It’s probably best if we get started.” No response from his patient.

Rung leaned back into his chair and crossed his legs. He placed his folded hands in his lap and watched as Streamlight struggle to relax. “What’s making you so uncomfortable?” The question caught the young mech off guard freezing him in mid wiggle. The flier tried to cover but failed miserably.

A few minutes passed before Streamlight finally let out a sigh. He had hoped his silence would have made Rung move on to some other subject. “Guess it’s…” The red and white guard shrugged and let out a heavy breath. “I guess it’s being asked to answer such personal questions. It’s a little…I don’t know…a little scary.” Rung let out a contemplative hum as he processed his patient’s answer. It wasn’t anything he hadn’t heard before, but the answer meant something different to different patients.

The silence that stretched between the two gave Streamlight a little time to relax and settle down a bit. He cringed, however, when he heard Rung move slightly. “Answering personal questions…scary.” It was more of an observation than an actual question. “Are you afraid to let people get to know you personally?” The guard quickly rose up on his elbows and looked at the psychiatrist. “No!” He snapped. “No. I’m not afraid.”

Rung nodded but waited a moment before continuing. Clearly Streamlight was agitated, and not just because he was taking part in the session. “Streamlight? Do you find answering personal questions scary because you’re concerned that someone might find out some kind of secret?”

With narrowed optics the slim flier sat bolt straight on the couch and glared hard into the doctor’s optics. Rung, unnerved by the display, simply remained seated with his legs crossed and his hands folded lightly. Finally Streamlight spoke. “I don’t have any secrets. I’m not like the others.” Rung’s head tilted slightly as he regarded the upset guard. This was the second patient that seemed to have some reservations with the "others". Perhaps the staff? At least that’s the vibe he was getting from the young bot.

“I thought we were supposed to be talking about my guardianship to Kronus’ person. When did this take a one-eighty?” His voice was low but it still had an edge to it. Rung softened his features and gave his patient a warm smile. He placed a slim hand onto Streamlight’s shoulder and gently guided him back down to a reclined position. “I’m sorry, Streamlight. You’re right. You are here so we can discuss your interactions with Kronus.” Rung’s hand slid away from the mech and was placed gently back in the doctor’s lap.

Streamlight tried hard to relax, but even this new direction, and eventual line of questioning made him uneasy. “Has the inmate ever asked you for any kind of favors? Extra rations? A good word to the Warden? Liberation from unwanted restraints? Things along those lines.” He shook his head and let out a chuckle before he turned to look at the small orange mech. “You’re kidding me, right?” The false façade was not only meant to deter Rung from believing he would do such a thing, but it was also a way for Streamlight to believe it himself.

The halfhearted laughter died down as he gathered his thoughts. “I’m a guard in one of the most secure Autobot prisons,” a low sigh before he went on. “…and I would nev…” Streamlight cut himself off when he heard a mass of footfalls just outside of Rung’s office door. Both he and the psychiatrist stood up and looked at one another. “Did you get a comm from anyone?” The guard asked. His query was answered with a shake of Rung’s head. “Me either.” Said Streamlight.

Garrus – 9 – Southern Wing – Cell Block M

As annoying as it possibly was to Wildfly, a second dose of the silent treatment from the Decepticon was much more irritating to Whirl. He waited several minutes for any kind of answer, Primus he’d have even accepted a grunt, but he got nothing. Not even a twitch. “So that’s how it’s gonna be, is it?” Whirl ground out.

The blue copter took a step away from the door and pulled his leg back. “If that’s all you got for me then you can rot in that little rusty pit of yours.” He sent a hard kick to the door leaving a nice sizable dent in the metal.

Whirl settled down slightly before he stepped back up to the window and peeked back in to the cell; that lone optic coming to rest on the Monstercon. “It’s been real. And don’t worry about missing that ration. I’m sure you won’t slip into stasis lock because of it. But if you do I’ll be sue to have you sent up to our resident doctor/murderer.” Whirl stepped back once more and turned on his heel. He made his way back to the corridor he had entered from only to pause long enough to call over his shoulder. “Catch ya on the flip side, loser!”

The crazy mech let out a hearty guffaw as he left, his laughter filling the block as he pressed on toward his next target. Fortunately for his next mark Whirl was stopped in his tracks by the sound of the Warden’s voice babbling something about a Code Beta. “Code Beta, eh? Now, what the hell was that supposed to be again?”

The blue bot crossed both arms in front of his chest and then brought one pincer to his chin and wracked his processor for the information regarding all of the “code” protocols. When he came up with nothing he lowered his arms and let out a groan. “Well, slag.” Just then his head whipped around when he heard the rushed footfalls of a small group of guards. None of them he recognized.

As they passed him Whirl reached out and clamped his hand around the back of one of their necks. “Hey, runt! Code Beta? Spill it!” With a surprised yelp at being mech-handled the smaller guard struggled futilely before halting his movements all together and looking back at Whirl. “Uh…we have to head to our assigned stations until further notice…um, sir.” He said between small grunts.

Whirl let out a contemplative hum, his hand still gripping the guard’s neck. The senior guard slowly lifted the smaller mech off the ground and turned him so they were optic to optics. “Well now. Won’t that be fun.” Whirl released his grip letting the other bot fall to the floor. He quickly got on his feet, took a quick look at the tall, lithe copterbot and sprinted off in the direction of his comrades. A low, “lunatic” breathed as he exited the block.

After watching his latest victim beat a hasty retreat Whirl opened a comm line with the Command Center hoping to get the warden himself. >>”Hey, Max?! Please tell me I get to take my new toy out for a test drive. I need to break it in.”<<

Their discussion concerning the judgment machine the Autobots relied on had come to a pleasant halt giving Cipher a few moments time to consider just how he would go about gaining access to one of the most secure locations in the penitentiary. Of course the most difficult task he had ahead of him was getting past the security system.

The slight mech leaned back easily in his chair bringing one finger to his lip where he gently began tapping. Cipher’s optics remained transfixed on the screen that held the three dimensional graphic of the prison’s lower levels.

A low hum escaped the cryptologist’s vocalizer as his processor worked through several possible scenarios that would bring him into the Aequitas chamber. None of them seemed to have the desired results. “There might be a problem.” He intoned to Mindwipe. “Although the chamber will be easy enough to locate gaining entry in to it will be problematic.” Cipher lowered his hand to the terminal’s surface and began to gently drum his actuators.

After several minutes of deep thought Cipher cast a glance over his shoulder at his comrade and let out a sigh. The scientist leaned back in his chair and turned his attention back to the spinning image of the room he wanted so much to enter. “I want that intel.” With several raps on the table with his knuckles, Cipher rose to his feet. “Everything on that culpability drive, everything, that pertains to any Autobot prisoner has the potential to move the Decepticon regime closer to winning this war.” The lithe little mech balled his hands into tight fists. “Fortress Maximus will need to be kept alive. Willing or not, I can use him to gain access.”

Cipher gave a tight nod in hypnotist’s direction before stepping past him. “Let’s get to the hangar. We’ll wait until the first wave has sterilized the command center before we make our own entrance.”

Just the words the eager Intelligence Officer was looking for. He gave a nod to Cyclonus, signaling his understanding of the plan. Banzai-tron watched at the bay doors opened and the sweeps began their attack formations.

Banzai-tron readied his weapons, even though in the close-quartered environment he was about to engage in, his martial arts would prove to be far more effective. He readied himself by moving towards the front of the group of battle-readied warriors. He stayed back just a few hundred feet or so, placing himself more towards the middle of the group, because he knew the Autobots would retaliate quickly and he wasn’t looking to die anytime soon.

Semper Tyrannis – Brig

Brainstorm sat in his cell among his fellow captive Autobots, arms crossed over his knees and head against his forearms. His processors were running and running, just trying to think of the possibilities in the design flaw everyone was mentioning in the cell. He gazed over at the wounded Technobot commander, trying to imagine what information was obtained from his head.

“Primus, if only Chromedome were here.” He began to think out loud to himself, “This would be so much easier.” Then his head shot up. He stood up, trying not to stand up too fast and alert the guards. He walked slowly over to Scattershot’s body. He bent over and raised him up slowly, pulling his data-pad from hip while doing so. “Scattershot?” Brainstorm asked in a hushed tone as he scanned the data pad over the hunching Autobot, “C’mon, stay with me here.” The Technobot commander only ushered small tones between rasping wheezes as he tried to breathe. His data pad beeped a little showing Brainstorm that the scan was complete.

“How is he?” One of the Autobot cell mates asked.

“Well I’m no doctor,” He said looking over to his fellow captive, “But the internal damage isn’t sufficient enough to cause him to go into permanent stasis.” He slid behind Scattershot and placed his hands underneath where Scattershot’s armpits would be if he were a human, and dragged him slowly until he placed the Technobot commander up against the wall. “Rest up my friend, you’ll need every second of it.” Brainstorm then rose and turned to face his fellow cell mates. “I need to see all the Technobots over here right now.” He instructed. A couple heads turned and looked at him with puzzling expressions and confused faces. “Come on now! Our lives could be depending on this!”

The cyberwarfare assault was on. The Autobot battlegroup that had given chase to the Spirit of Wrath was still moving after the Decepticon frigate, however it was already clear enough from sensor data that the enemy had lost their ability to steer their course properly - let alone control their speed or weaponry as intended. All Decepticon officers were given their instructions. The wait was over. The time to attack was now.

>>"Battlegroup Cyclonus, lock to your targets. Battlegroup Snaptrap, continue on course towards Garrus-9, keep Ghost Shields engaged until you are in range to begin orbital bombardment."<<

>>"DECEPTICONS! ATTACK!"<< Scorponok's attack order boomed across the command channel shared by all those relevant for the next phase of their plan.

The response was immediate.

The Semper Tyrannis dropped its ghost shield, followed by half of the capital ships of the 2nd Fleet. And as soon as the Decepticon warships had revealed themselves to the enemy, a highly focused attack against the sole Autobot battleship, the Steelhaven began. In matter of seconds the combined might of the three capital ships of the battlegroup Cyclonus - the Semper Tyrannis, the battlecruiser Invictus and the Worldsweeper Shatterer stripped the Steelhaven of its shields and quickly disabled the only Autobot vessel that could be classified as a major threat towards the larger Decepticons ships - while the rest of the battlegroup moved to contain the rest of the Autobot ships.

Burned and vulnerable, the Steelhaven's fate was now in the hands of the Decepticons. Had it been a smaller vessel, Scorponok would not have thought twice about just blowing it up. A ship of such power though, was a prize worth of capturing. A fine addition to his fleet. As the rest of the battlegroup Cyclonus moved to decimate the remaining enemy ships, the Semper Tyrannis moved side to side with the equally enormous Autobot ship and tidally locked to its position by clamping a hold of the Steelhaven with a number of tractor beams. With the movement of the two ships synchronized, a small hatch on the hull of the Decepticon battleship opened and revealed the head of a boarding tube, equipped with a collection of nasty looking cutting devices.

It was time for Cyclonus to make his move.

It came over the command channels abruptly.

>>"Battlegroup Cyclonus, lock to your targets. Battlegroup Snaptrap, continue on course towards Garrus-9, keep Ghost Shields engaged until you are in range to begin orbital bombardment."<<

It was time. Snaptrap waited as the Pestilence and the rest of the battlegroup Snaptrap – Warworld Doctrine of Fear, Frigate Terminus, Destroyer Burning Justice , as well as few corvette class vessels – proceeded to make the final push toward Garrus-9. The battlegroup drew nearer and nearer to the facility until it was in range to begin orbital bombardment. The Seacon commander rose from the command chair, his amber optics narrowing to slits.

>>”Disengage ghost shields,”<< Snaptrap ordered the battlegroup, sending the message across all ships in it, as Scorponok’s voice boomed on the command channel once more.

>>"DECEPTICONS! ATTACK!"<<

>>”All ships open fire!”<< Snaptrap roared over the battlegroup’s channel as well as out loud.

The ships uncloaked and began to unleash a heavy battery of gunfire to rain down upon Garrus-9 Penitentiary. Snaptrap stepped down from the command chair and motioned for the Seacons manning the various stations to follow.

“Leave this ship to the insects. We have more pressing matters to attend to,” Snaptrap said as he sent another message over the battlegroup Snaptrap’s channel. >>”All ground troops deploy in drop pods and ships to the surface.”<<

Snaptrap entered the corridors with his team trailing behind until they reached a row of pods. The seacon commander nodded to indicate that his team should enter them. “Plan your drop. Target important structures and create a point of entry. Stay close. We strike as a unit.”

Nightbeat felt a scowl overtake his face when he heard Pointblank say the word "Sweep". The Sweeps and the Insecticons? The Decepticons were up to something big, and this was no ordinary conquest mission. Sure, the Decepticons like their "Shock and Awe", but this was just out of the ordinary; even for them.

"Sweeps... Pointblank, do you know who's in charge? It is odd for the Decepticons to use two of their most valuable assets on a mere world populated by lesser advanced beings!" Nightbeat inquired, stressing the point that it was imperative that Pointblank reply with accuracy.

Wheelie offered no reply to the vehicons, instead, he glared menacingly at the branding on their chests, purple insignia burned into his optics. Decepticons... They were the ones behind Cleff's murder...

Rage built inside the small proto. Grabbing his weapons, Wheelie decided to contain his anger, as an outburst such as that would probably get him shot.

"Wheelie will go, but the way you needn't show!" Wheelie stated, walking out of the room.

Walking through the corridors, Wheelie moved up and around, left and right until finally, he was standing at the bridge, where Mindwipe was waiting for him. Sighing slightly, as his only friend in this whole thing was on the side of murderers, Wheelie trod up to Mindwipe and looked at him, letting his presence speak for itself.

Overbite rose and snarled at the thought of going into combat with Skalor. He could see it -- and smell it, mind you -- now, the Autobots literally dying of olfactory unit explosions. Worst part is, Overbite would have to bear it, too.

Unfortunately, Skalor thought the opposite of the events to come. He enjoyed the thought of making others miserable with his stench and snapping them in two with his teeth. Thankfully -- for Overbite, that is -- Overbite kept his distance on the other side of Snaptrap as he exited the room with his commander.

"Okay, boss! Let's get us some Bots!" Overbite asked, trying to keep his distance from his foul-smelling team-mate.

No more pretending to operate a station, no more dealing with the goo that coated the station, thus making Nautilator's act all the more harder to perform, and no more stupid diaclones trying to attack and eat him. The time had come for battle. A great time, indeed.

Nautilator abandoned his post with such speed that he would have made Blurr look as slow and clumsy as a Dinobot. Or as awkward as Overbite or Tentakil shambling around in their alternate modes. Whoever.

Following Snaptrap through the corridors, Nautilator kept his distance from Skalor as best he could. If his team-mate's unholy stench found his olfactory sensors, Nautilator might already go down before any of the fighting even started. It could happen—and it had happened.

He'd been a witness to it once. As recent as a few months ago, in fact, on Nebulos. A Sweep's vital systems nearly collapsed because of prolonged exposure to Skalor's formidable stench.

Nasty stuff.

Skalor!” Nautilator could not remove the irritation from his tone. “What the Pit? Why haven't you done something about that fragged up smell yet?”

Why? Why? Why? Who honestly knew.

He glanced at Overbite and Tentakil for support. “Care to back me up here?”

As Brainstorm took to attenting the damaged Scattershot, Pyro could do nothing. His attention still pondered the unconcious team commander's words, searching for some sort of hidden definitions that could be laced inbetween the words unsaid. But the Technobot Commander was not one he had normally served with, so such intricacies were not so easily deciphered. Add to that, Lightspeed held no sense of detecting any subtext which hinted at there being none to begin with.

But it was decided, at least from his perspective, Scattershot knew far more than he let slip. Pyro would not force any further requirements from their defacto commanding officer and instead turned his attention to the least damaged and defiled Technobot, Nosecone. A slow and methodical mechanism who was often considered the less bright of Scattershot's command team. Pyro knew differently. Slow did not always mean dim. "And what about you Miner? During your ill fated attempt at rescue, did you discover any vital information that we can use to help solve our burgeoning mystery? And what of you Sniper," his attention briefly turning to Strafe... knowing full well Afterburner was busy sulking. "What would you make of the commander's words. Right now we need potential theories to fit the limited facts provided to us. We know the cons are after Garrus 9... vendetta be damned, there is something there that the covet beyond just Fortress Maximus. They are after some sort of design flaw. And that they will go to great lengths to get it."

Lightspeed had exchanged curious glances with other members of the Technobot unit, Afterburner particularly, as Brainstorm made his sudden request. He had no real idea of knowing what exactly Brainstorm might want in these circumstances, but even if they had been back aboard the Farstar or the Steelhaven, attempting to guess at Brainstorm's ultimate intentions could lead to an infinite series of progressively more complicated questions and even more elusive answers. Brainstorm's thinking was his own. As adept as the Technobots were in their field, Brainstorm was decidedly a cut above.

It was really for that reason alone that Lightspeed made any effort to move from the position of relative comfort he had got himself into and moved to allow Brainstorm to do...well...whatever it is he wanted to do, really. Nosecone and Strafe had similarly followed suit.

"What's this 'our lives might depend on it' slag?" Afterburner asked the renowned weapons designer.

"The Decepticons didn't put a bomb inside me, did they?" Lightspeed asked, only half-serious. "Do...do you see a bomb?"

Pointblank continued to look at the floor. Nothing that was going on around him really warranted his attention. But he still listened to every word that was spoken. And while much of that didn't warrant his attention either, some of it did. And he would not intentionally ignore a fellow Autobot, even if he didn't know what good offering up such information would do.

"The Sweeps? Scourge is their leader. The Tracker. He's from the old days. Before Optimus. Before Sentinel, even. But the ones that assaulted us on Nebulos were lead by Scorponok. Even Scourge apparently bends his knee to him. But it all goes back to Megatron. Megatron's always the one who's ultimately responsible for everything his army of degenerates does in his name."

Pointblank seethed, his words becoming more embittered with each one that he spoke. It didn't matter which regional commander or general happened to be committing one atrocity or another. They all did so under the marching orders of Megatron. If they truly wanted to end this war, he was the one who ultimately would have to go.

"But I agree. Their choice of Nebulos was one I never saw coming. They're so passive. And defenseless. It's why I had no problems being stationed there. I would rather protect a planet that has long forgotten the horrors of war than one that lives with it every day. I just wish I hadn't failed so miserably," Pointblank said, slamming his fist against the floor of the cell.

Mindwipe listened quietly as Cipher audibly worked out exactly what he wanted to get ahold of, voiced some of the problems in achieving said goals and subsequently voicing some solutions to said problems. Mindwipe was suitably confidant that everything within the Garrus prison would be opened up to them, given enough time, especially since the head of the 2nd expansion fleet felt the place to be worth his time. There would be nothing that was beyond their reach.

"The hangar, of course," Mindwipe said, nodding agreeably. He spared a passing glance at the massive viewscreen on the bridge as Sweeps and other vessels within the Decepticon battlegroups commenced their assault in response to Commander Scorponok's orders. Mindwipe was keen to play his own part in this effort.

That would, of course, take them precariously close to the Terrorcons once more. It was a reality that Mindwipe had thought he had managed to avoid dealing with for the immediate future. He could only hope that they would be so focused on their opportunity to be unleashed in battle that they would pay no attention to him. His olfactory sensors still detected residual traces of that Primus-forsaken flesh compound he had been forced to wear while on LV-117. That would surely not do him any favors in regards to such a primal unit.

As he moved to follow Cipher, he was briefly halted in doing so by the arrival of Wheelie, followed shortly thereafter by the small detachment of Vehicons that Mindwipe had sent to retrieve the protoform.

"You have arrived. Excellent! I had begun to wonder just what had become of you after that incident in the engine room. Just....what exactly did happen in there, hm?" Mindwipe asked, before realizing that Cipher was getting too far ahead of him. "Never mind that. Come. We'll learn those answers later. Now...now!...we have a glorious victory to take part in."

Mindwipe grinned and motioned for Wheelie to follow. The ship's hangar would be their next destination. And then...Garrus-9.

"What's this 'our lives might depend on it' slag?" Afterburner asked as Brainstorm began to scan his chassis with his data pad.

“Call it a hunch.” The weapon designer responded confidently.

"The Decepticons didn't put a bomb inside me, did they?" Lightspeed asked in what seemed to be a sarcastic tone to Brainstorm.

“Oh don’t be crazy Lightspeed.” Brainstorm retorted as he moved his scanner over towards the Technobot speedster, “Now let’s have a look here, shall we?” He slowly moved the scanner over the Technobot’s chassis, acting in a similar fashion as that of an x-ray machine would on a human. Soon his scanner beeped at him again, signaling that the scan was complete. He continued to scan the remaining Technobots for whatever Brainstorm thought was “life-threatening” important. “Thanks for your cooperation here,” He said looking up from his flashing data-pad, “I’ve got this feeling that I just might know what the Decepticons were plundering our friend’s head here for.”

Brainstorm then returned the corner of the cell he had been sitting at before he decided to call the scanning operation. He studied the data he recorded from the Technobots intensively, not losing focus whenever someone moved around the cell or began talking. He excluded himself mentally from any distractions that could possibly pull him away from his studying.

-

“I’ve got it!” Brainstorm exclaimed as he quickly shot up from the corner he was sitting at, “I know what the ‘Cons were after!”

Semper Tyrannis--Hangar

The first wave of Sweeps, lead by Scourge, had erupted from the bowels of the Semper Tyrannis like a plague of locusts. And like locusts, they would gnaw away at any Autobot aerial defenses until their was little other than an empty husk remaining. The other wave of Sweeps Cyclonus had kept for himself, to be part of the direct assault wave aboard the Steelhaven. All were ready, and as the word came through that Scorponok had moved forward with the true substance of their assault Cyclonus stood ready.

He could hear and feel the connective equipment as it launched from its port and eventually slamming against the awaiting Autobot battleship.

"The crew will have been bored and battle-eager for a long time. Let us not disappoint them," Cyclonus said as interlocking mechanisms secured the primary link between the two vessels. "Decimate anything in our path."

With a few final hissing releases of steam and metallic pressure, the path into the boarding tube unsealed itself. The Terrorcons, the true head of this potent spear, roared forward under Hungrr's imposing command, but they would not be left alone. Scourge's battle-hungry Huntsmen were right on their heels, followed by the other Decepticons comprising the boarding assault battlegroup. Walking became running almost instantly as the Decepticons proceeded to tear across the considerable distance that still existed between the two ships, despite them now being locked together. Large, transparent apertures on either side of the tube also allowed clear views of the battle taking place in the space around the Elba moon. It only fueled Cyclonus' own battle-readiness all the more and he suspected it did the same for many others.

As they approached the other connective port, it was blasted away as the battlegroup came within meters and blaster fire began to tear through the tunnel.

"It is Decepticons!!!!"

"I knew it!"

"Get that frag cannon in place!"

Cyclonus detected those cries and several more as the Decepticons began to spill into the wound that the Semper Tyrannis had inflicted upon the Autobot battleship.

"No mercy!" Cyclonus cried, as his oxidating laser added its destructive force to the cacophony of other weapons fire being returned in the Autobots' direction.

The Pestilence--Bridge

"With no small amount of pleasure," Tentakil said in response to Snaptrap's commands, quickly getting up from his station and following his commander's orders as quickly as he could. Snaptrap was not one to condone any idle lazing about, especially when they were now joint deep in a battle.

He spared a passing glance in Nautilator's direction as he voiced his disgust over Skalor's ongoing aroma. Tentakil simply shrugged.

"You expected...what? Terran roses? Splendoran nectar?" the Seacon queried nonchalantly, followed by another quick shrug of indifference and then quickly heading off in the direction of the dropship hangar as Snaptrap had ordered.
___

The Pestilence--Hangar

The Insecticon swarm had assumed its position within the myriad of pods that had been produced for an attack such as this one.

Inside the pod, thanks to certain Insecticon modifications over the years, many of them truly resembled what one would expect from a cybernetic insect egg. Threadbare in their equipment and capabilities, they would provide just enough protection and stability to get the majority of them down to the Elba surface with little interference.

>>"And so it comes,"<< Kickback's voice's chittered in Bombshell's head.

"So it does," he said, preparing the launch sequence for his and every other available pod within the vessel. Those diaclones that did not get a pod to themselves would simply have to risk the descent down to the surface on their own, hazardous though it would be.

The Pestilence began to shake, minor rumbles at first but fast escalating into a series of massive tremors that felt as if they might shake the ship apart the openings for the pods and the drop ships cleared out of the way.

Then, like little spiderlings, the drop pods began to spill out of the Pestilence and shoot off toward the penitentiary below.

Garrus-9--Corridors

The sheer multitude of messages coming into the warden halfway tempted him to shut off his comm receivers altogether and just focus on what was happening. He knew he couldn't do that though. He just had to do his best to filter through everything, coordinate where he could and let the Autobots' training do the rest. Among several messages that caught his attention, one had been forwarded to him via the command center and it definitely deserved a response.

>>”Hey, Max?! Please tell me I get to take my new toy out for a test drive. I need to break it in.”<<

Maximus reouted the link so that he was directly in touch with Whirl.

>>"That's an affirmative Whirl. We are at Code Alpha. No drill. Let loose."<<

Maximus knew exactly what he was saying to an individual like Whirl by using the words he had. That was why he almost never had an opportunity to say them. But these were Decepticons at the gate, and Maximus had no qualms about unleashing every resource at his disposal to combat the threat until it had passed.

"It's big time Max. They're all over!" one of the guards said as Fortress Maximus stormed toward the central receiving doors that connected to a majority of the other areas of the prison. Machine gun batteries on his wrists emerged, as did the mortar cannons on either of his legs and the heat-seeking missile launchers in his midsection. He quickly checked the ammo levels on his photon rifle and made sure that his secondary blade was in position. If the Decepticons wanted to bring the war here, so be it. He would answer.

Deactivating one of the primary locks, Maximus stepped through one set of doors and out into an open area of the prison. The sight that greeted him was unlike anything that he had expected: the Steelhaven seemingly being leeched onto to by an equally massive warship. Other ships locked in mortal combat with one another. And one particularly foul looking vessel dispersing hundreds of drop pods in their direction.

Maximus stood ready, unphased by any of it, even if it was more than he could have ever expected. Was Megatron himself at the head of such a massive assault?.

No...

No.

He recognized that ship now that he looked at it again. The Semper Tyrannis. Scorponok.

"Get those turrets online! Fire at will!"

This was the moment he had been waiting for. Banzai-tron stood back behind Cyclonus, readying his weapons once more and trying to focus himself for the upcoming battle. He watched as the air commander rushed into the wound of the crippled Steelhaven through the boarding tube. The intelligence officer followed closely behind and was greeted aboard by the wayward shots of Autobot hail-fire. Banzai-tron rushed for some cover, firing his wrist-mounted energy blasters while he tucked himself up along the side of the corridor he was in.

I can’t tell what I’m hitting with all this stray gunfire

“No mercy!” Screamed Cyclonus as he gave orders to the invasive sweeps that came rushing out of the boarding tube. Banzai-tron then leaped from his current position, arms forward and his back-mounted rocket launchers primed up into attack position. His Energy blasters spewed hot bolts upon the Autobots trying to hold off the invasion, while his rocket launchers made short work of the frag cannons the Autobots were trying to quickly set up. The Intelligence officer landed around in the midst of one of the Autobot’s groups of warriors. Time seemed to freeze for Banzai-tron and his Crystalocution techniques readied himself for what was going to happen next.

Outnumbered, Five to one. The bot on the left didn’t notice my advance into their ranks. Possible Cannon-fodder, perhaps? To my right, a shotgunner who noticed my leap. First to retaliate my attack. The three bots in front of me; Two were knocked back from the explosion my rockets made. Dazed, Confused, and my advantage. Finally, the middle bot. Let’s leave that to chance shall we?

As time caught up with the Crystalocution master, he quickly reached over to his left and pulled the Autobot towards his right. In a flash, the shotgunner opened fired and pelted his teammate full of shells. Banzai-tron threw the now dying Autobot against his attacker, and fired his energy blasters to finish the duo off. The middle bot charged at Banzai-tron, but was quickly caught off-guard as Banzai-tron swooped his leg around and gave the Autobot a menacing roundhouse-kick. The two bots that were knocked out from the explosion quickly ran off in fear. He rose one of his arms slowly, aiming his weapon at the fleeing Autobots.

“You Autobots have made a grave mistake…”

Steelhaven

The cutters of the boarding tube had breached Steelhaven's hull. Only loose piece of Steelhaven's hull and the protective durabelliym seal in the head of the boarding tube were now separating the warring factions. The moment the seal's magno-locks opened, the small explosives capsules in the seal were detonated - pushing the seal out of the way of the Decepticon boarding party in a split of a second. Like a force of nature, the Terrorcons blowed through the loose piece of Steelhaven's hull, separated from the battleship by the boarding tube's cutters. The amount of enemy firepower their powerful shielding systems and heavy armor prevented from reaching those following behind them would have been enough to turn a number of Vehicons into scrap - for the Terrorcons however, it was nothing but an appetizer.

The initial group of Autobot defenders, were either melted to pool of slag by the searing flames of Terrorcon flamethrowers or just walked over as Hun-Grrr in his massive beast form led his men into the fray - spearheading the Decepticon offensive into the Autobot battleship. The Terrorcons did not stay in the breach for long though. They had an objective to reach and had they formed a bottleneck in front of the boarding tube, they'd soon have gotten themselves locked into a perilous position or at least slowed down the offensive tremendously.

Without Cutthroat - who was still recovering from his wounds in a CR chamber - slowing them down with his reckless antics and inability to follow orders, the Terrorcons were moving fast towards their target. Rending and tearing their way through those few Autobots that had the courage to stand in their way. Taking over the Steelhaven required the Decepticons to take control of the bridge, and for once Hun-Grrr's mind was on the job.

Of course, the promised continuation of the carnage down at Garrus-9 was his main motivator. This operation was just a snack before the main course. And an easy snack even. Sparkstalker and Wingspan had made this easy. The stolen command codes had allowed them to disable the mighty Autobot warship. Its interior defenses were not slowing the Terrorcons down. And every time they encountered a blast door, the hackers on board the Semper Tyrannis made sure it was opened without a delay and closed behind them to stop the Autobot defenders from attacking their rear.

As the Terrorcons thundered forwards, behind them the Decepticons led by Cyclonus and Banzai-Tron clashed with the ever growing number of the Autobot defenders. The Autobots knew this was their best shot at stopping or at least holding down the enemy. They also knew they wouldn't stand a chance but true to their heroic nature, they were going to try anyhow. Their officers knew that the Decepticons wouldn't have performed an attack like this had they not prepared for it. It was clear that the boarding party easily outnumbered the skeleton crew of Steelhaven.

The moment Cyclonus and his Sweeps would push through the choke point like the Terrorcons had already done, the Autobots were done for.

Scattershot's audio receptors were at minimum, at best. At worst they would flux into offline status as power continually redirected to areas of internal need. His external textile sensors were in similar states. Catching bits and pieces of the universe around him, Scattershot thought it best to allow things to progress unimpeeded. Admittedly though things felt off as he felt movement then his sensors died before temporarily returning to online status and then deactivating again.

The Technobot Commander's systems never went into full stasis, he was too stubborn to allow that failsafe to activate. With power in a short supply, his options were as limited as his movements, at least inwardly he knew that Lightspeed was capable of commanding the troops in his stead.

His audio receptors activated once again, unexpectedly louder than previous attempts. Several blurps of sensor code pelted his chasis briefly before he was able to determine the source and a voice. "Brains...torm," his voice was labored but not entirely drenched with the stench of permanent deactivation. "Get... to... the point."

Motto: "I'm not psycho...I just like psychotic things."
Garrus – 9 - Leaving Cell Block M

While waiting for a response, any response, from Fortress Maximus the tall, lithe former Wrecker made his way through the block and up toward the main level of the command center. Whirl was hoping that whatever the warden said translated into “Yes, Whirl. I need you to take out whatever it is threatening this facility…and I know you’re the only one who can do it. I’m just not the kind of mech who can do what you do. You’re just too awesome.”

Well, he probably wouldn’t say that, but he was sure Max would say something just as close.

As the copter-bot made his way through a much too short doorway he paused a moment. The voice coming through his audios via his internal comm link was Max himself. Whirl nearly became giddy as he waited with bated breath to hear what he hoped he’d hear. Code Alpha. Great another code protocol. Now what the hell does an alpha mean…Whirl’s head swept through the doorway he had stopped in but there was no other staff member in the area. It would seem he’d have to go on a hunch. Especially if Max was using the “let loose” line.

“Aw yeah.” He chuckled. Whirl drew his new “toy”, a very impressive hand gun that looked even deadlier in the psycho’s. Pincers closed tight around the handle, Whirl brought the weapon up to optic level and caressed its underside with his free “hand”. “Oh baby, if I had lips I’d kiss you.”

He ogled for a moment longer before he set off at a fast pace to the area where the warden would most likely be…the central receiving area.

It must have been a new record because as Whirl passed through the open doors he found Fortress Maximus standing in an open area, every weapon built into his person armed and ready…not to mention his hand held photon rifle as well. Whirl cast his gaze up at the scene taking place above the planet and took stock of the ships taking turns at trying to annihilate one another. “Hey now. The Tyrannis.” Whirl cast his singular optic on the larger mech. “I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that Scorpy didn’t take your two’s break up very well.”

Garrus – 9 Southern Wing – Level 4 – Cell Block C

There had been an awkward silence that filtered throughout the cell block once Streamlight had left the area. At first Spree was tempted to get under Kronus’ steel-skin when he thought about just how well his last attempt at some ‘Con intimidation went.

Of course there was no reason to believe that another attempt would turn out as disastrously. Spree’s lips curled upward. “Hmmm. I wonder…” The guard’s statement lingered but only for a moment. “Okay. I’ll bite. What is it you’re wondering?” The prisoner said. Spree chuckled lowly before standing and moving to the cell door. “I wonder what I could possibly do to antagonize you.” He let out another chuckle as he peered into the small pen.

“Exist.” Kronus said simply. The smile that had formed on the Autobot’s face quickly melted. Spree let out a guttural growl and slammed his balled fists into the door. The clang resonated through the whole cell block. “If that camera wasn’t working I’d come in there and beat you within an inch of your sorry existence.”

There was really no reason to respond. Instead Kronus rose off of his bunk and stretched. And he made a show of it. Spree watched, his hands clenched tight and his jaw set. A few moments more and Kronus lowered his arms and looked over his shoulder at the window in the cell door. He could see just how worked up the guard already was.

“Something tells me having to proto-sit me is not what’s got you so pissy.” Kronus said while turning round and heading to the door. “Have a run in with someone bigger and smarter than you, eh? Know how I can tell?” The thief smirked behind his mask. The twist in Spree’s features was priceless. The lithe ‘Con pressed against the door, his covered face set close to the bars. “I can smell the processed excrement wafting off you.” He whispered before he pulled back slightly and laughed.

“Why you glitched up piece of slag!” Spree slammed a fist into the door hard enough to leave a dent. The fury flowing off of the guard was palatable. Spree removed his hand from the door and made to enter the security code in order to unlock the cell door. Kronus stepped back ready to accept his willing visitor as soon as the obstruction slid open. But the guard stopped. His hand hovered over the keypad for several seconds before he lowered it. Kronus tilted his head to one side. “Lost your nerve? Or did you just wise up?” Spree scoffed at the thief’s mocking tone. “You just got a reprieve scum. Something more important just came up.” Spree turned and stopped at the lone desk across from the cell. He entered a sequence of keystrokes and looked up.

“Now, you be a good little freak and stay quiet. That little screwup will be back before you know it. Then you two lovebirds can get back to whatever it is you do when you’re alone. HAHAHA!” Kronus stared out of the small window only to see the fragger jogging to the exit. “pft. Lovebirds my shiny metal aft.” He wanted to send a scathing retort at the back of the guard but thought otherwise.

As much as he’d like to get back at Spree it was much more important that he get to work on making his escape. “Thought I would’ve had to wait a whole hell of a lot longer. Oh well. Beggars can’t be choosers.” With one last look outside his cell door a small, well hidden, compartment opened up on Kronus’ wrist revealing several inconspicuous thin strips of metal. Each one worked in sync with his hand’s internal mechanisms making them seem as though they were part of his anatomy. Kronus removed several of the “tools” and set to work opening the door’s security panel. Spree’s sudden need to leave gave Kronus the impression that the staff would be engaged in something far more important than him. So escape would be much easier than expected. The thought brought a smile to his face.

Whatever was going on would be the perfect cover. “Whoever ya are, I pledge ya my eternal gratitude.”

Motto: "Clarity of thought before rashness of action."
Weapon: Oxidating Laser
Garrus-9--The Greasepit

At the time the Code Beta was called, the Greasepit had pretty much cleared itself out in short order. Only civilian personnel with no official duties inside the main area of the prison or aboard one of the ships had remained. After the Code Alpha had been called, even those few strays had gone and the area had been effectively locked down.

Goldrush couldn't believe it. It had been how long since the last Code Alpha had been called?

He had almost begun to wonder why when activity through the large bay windows offering wide views of the Elba moon displayed some of what was going on.

Goldrush approached one of the windows slowly, his mouth agape as he saw what appeared to be an attack force worthy of Megatron himself in the beginning stages of laying siege to the penitentiary. Coiner, one of Goldrush's chief tenders had remained behind and was now walking up behind his employer.

"What in the name of Primus...?" he gasped, enraptured by what was taking place just as Goldrush was. It took a few moments, maybe a few moments too long, for Goldrush to snap out of what was going on and come back to the here and now. He jerked his head in Coiner's direction.

"Everything of creditory value. Gather it up. It's not staying here," Goldrush said, quickly walking over to the first of the currency processors and emptying it of any tangible goods.
___

The Steelhaven

For Autobots, even a small group of the them could put up quite a fierce level of resistance. Cyclonus appreciated that. Even back on Nebulos, that initial wave of Autobots that had fought so valiantly to defend Koroja had been the most satisfying part of their conquest there--apart from knowing that another world had been added to Megatron's war machine, thus bringing them one step closer to their penultimate victory. Cyclonus suspected the Steelhaven would serve a very similar role to the fall of Koraja. With its defeat, the subsequent defenses would be toppled accordingly.

No mercy had been Cyclonus' command and the Sweeps had no problem following that order. Given the harsh training of their leader, Cyclonus was not surprised in the least. They, like the Terrorcons and every other Decepticon that was part of this attack group, would attack mercilessly and ceaselessly until the word was given to do otherwise.

Having eupted through the breach along with several Sweeps, Cyclonus leveled his weapon at the first Autobot to come within definitive targeting range and fired. The laser blast seared the Autobot's face, the intense oxidation effects causing a sort of rapid-rusting process that quickly lead to a gruesome and painful stasis, if not death, given the placement of the shot.

>>"Make for the bridge, Banzai-tron. I will rendezvous with you there,"<< Cyclonus quickly commed out as he and a pair of Sweeps quickly took cover behind a series of crates that were soon obliterated by the first round of fire from the newly set up frag cannon.

"Move! Disable that cannon and execute its operator," Cyclonus barked to the nearby Sweep.

Another blast rocked the ship's wall overhead, sending charred debris fragments spilling over Cyclonus and the others.
___

Elba airspace

As the first of the pods began to make contact with the ground, they quickly opened, jettisoning their contents: a fully-armed Insecticon diaclone that quickly began to trek its way across the landscape towards the penitentiary itself. Others that were not in pods began to hit the ground as well and follow suit.

From within the confines of his own pod, Bombshell monitored their progress even as he maneuvered his pod as best he could to keep it out of the way of the autogun defense fire that was already beginning to be fired at them to prevent their descent.

"Fools! That is not enough!" Bombshell cried happily, watching the Insecticon Swarm trek forward towards the penitentiary.

>>"Uhh, that might be,"<< the taunting voice of Kickback registered in Bombshell's comm receiver.

"What might--oh," Bombshell stuttered as his attention was turned toward what Kickback had to be referring to. One of two massive defense turrets was being angled upward in their direction. The other was coming online as well, but its positioning seemed to be focused on the approaching ground forces.

"Evasive maneuvers! Whatever you can--!"

An audio-sensor smashing eruption of energy was unleashed by the first turret, sending a massive juggernaut of energy rocketing skyward, vaporizing any pod that happened to be caught in its path. Even Bombshell had sat dumbfounded in his pod for a moment as the blast tore its way past him. Another diaclone pod that had been just to his right went up in flames just from being too close to the meteoric ammunition.

As soon as Bombshell's pod had slammed into the ground, he disengaged the locks and scrambled outward. Shrapnel was already a good hundred meters or so ahead.

Motto: "I'm not psycho...I just like psychotic things."
Garrus – 9 – Southern Wing – Cell Block G

“I have no need to know just how your “kind” works, my dear.” Flame said smoothly. He too, like Airachnid, made his way to his bunk and took a seat. He leaned back slightly taking on a nonchalant relaxed posture.

The eccentric scientist kept his vocalizer silent letting the Decepticon femme speak her mind. It seemed she had much to offer. Not only was she an interesting conversationalist, but she was also sensitive to just what people knew, or didn’t know, about her.

Flame hummed in thought as he watched Airachnid. “You’ve transgressed, my dear. The DJD will most certainly be interested in you. However, you are correct in that they would not be interested in you while you are incarcerated here.” Flame leaned forward placing his hands gently on his knees.

He flashed the femme a debonair smile. “Once you find your way outside of this facility, and I’ve no doubt that you will, you’ll be considered fair game.” The disturbed genius slowly slid his hands from his knees and leaned back onto his bunk. “But you’re right in the end. Focusing on you will probably be for the best. You wouldn’t want to have to rely on someone else to save you should something go awry. After all, you didn’t need anyone else to help you get in here now did you?” Flame let out a low chuckle. “In that you were brilliant.”

Garrus -9 – Rung’s Office

The taller red and white flier looked to the door and then back to the smaller lanky orange doctor standing in front of him. The rapid heavy footfalls had gotten louder and heavier only to begin dying down until there was nearly no sound coming from beyond Rung’s office doors.

With his mouth slightly agape Streamlight regarded Rung and stepped to the door where he carefully drew his long range laser rifle. Rung cringed slightly and reached out taking a light hold of the young guard’s forearm. “Wait. Maybe we should contact the command center. Perhaps there’s an explanation as to…”

Streamlight shook his head slowly as he gently removed the concerned psychiatrist’s hand. “Doc, whatever’s going on, it’s happening fast.” He took a quick look back at the door before placing his hand against Rung’s shoulder and gently pressing the slim mech backward and out of the way. “But hasn’t the warden said anything? I mean hasn’t there been some kind of communication concerning the situation?” Rung was clearly worried that something had already occurred.

“I haven’t heard anything, but that’s not unusual especially if we’re facing some kind of infiltration. Which we probably aren’t.” Streamlight offered Rung a small smile as he gestured for the psychiatrist to step back into his office. With a very small nod of understanding Rung moved away from the door and pressed lightly against the edge of his desk while he watched Streamlight closely.

Right hand gripping his rifle, the young guard reached to the door’s keypad with his left hand and entered the code to open the door. When nothing happened he tried again. After his second attempt he looked to the doctor for help.

Rung pushed off his desk and slowly made his way to the door where he tried his override code. Nothing. “Are you sure you entered it right?” Streamlight queried while he watched Rung enter the code once more. “Yes. Of course.” Rung said puzzled. “But…”

Streamlight stepped back away from the door and pulled Rung along with him. “Wha…?” The doctor began. “This isn’t good. The prison’s on lockdown. We’re not getting out of here that way.” The red and white flier glanced down at the smaller ‘Bot.

“Why would the prison be on lockdown? An escape? Something else?” The psychiatrist’s questions were spoken low but with still enough volume for the guard to hear. “Could be one or the other…could be both.” Streamlight’s shoulders slumped as he looked back towards the door. “Perhaps you should try to contact the command center. I’ll see if I can raise Fortress Maximus on my own comms system. Alright?” When he wasn’t answered right away Rung tapped Streamlight lightly on the forearm gaining the young mech’s attention. “Uh, yeah. I’ll see what I can do.” That said the guard moved away from the doctor and tried to open a line with the command center.

While Streamlight put a few feet between he and Rung, the psychiatrist moved behind his desk where he took a seat. Rung let out a heavy, shaky sigh and began accessing his terminal. He was having a difficult time trying to establish a line through his workstation so instead of continuing his efforts he opted for utilizing his personal communication frequency.

>>”Fortress Maximus, this is Rung. I was just in a session with a patient when we heard a commotion outside. Unfortunately we can’t seem to be able to open the doors. What’s going on? Is…is everything alright?”<<

“Ugh! I can’t get through! No one’s answering!” Streamlight growled as he slammed his hand against the wall. The sound caused Rung to start. “It’s alright, Streamlight. I was able to get a message out on a private frequency. Hopefully we’ll find out what’s happening here soon.” Rung flashed his patient a small but sincere smile. At this point it was all he could offer.

Semper Tyrannis – Hangar

As all of the other Terrorcons, well perhaps just Hun-Grrr, Rippersnapper had waited patiently for his Commander’s order. His restraint was rewarded when the massive Decepticon warship finally connected with the Autobot’s battleship.

A smile spread over the terrorist’s face as he watched Cyclonus and the awaiting boarding tube. He did not have to wait long before the path was cleared and Hun-Grrr pressed forward onto the Steelhaven.

Rippersnapper pulled out from behind the larger Terrorcon and made straight for an Autobot too stupid to realize he was already dead.

Several glancing laser blasts and scorching burns later and the terrorist was advancing on to his next target. This was going to be therapeutic.

“Catch ya on the flip side, loser!”

If only.

“Catch ya on the flip side, loser!”

Maybe luck would...

“Catch ya on the flip side, loser!”

Best not to entertain such a silly fantasy, because Wildfly would begin to brood over it. And brood over it. And brood over it.

Until he snapped and assaulted the few items of furniture decorating his cell, using them as poor substitutes for Whirl's peeper and face-plate. He'd done that before, allowing his fury to get the better of him just as he declared war in his cell. And he'd been rewarded with a trip to the solitary confinement unit, all expenses already accommodated for.

That was not a destination he particularly wished to visit again any time soon in this continued functioning, even if he lived for several more million vorns.

Pacing from one side of his cell to the other, and repeating this process in an attempt to soothe his blazing anger, Wildfly muttered words of encouragement to himself. Liked liquid off a cyber-duck's back, however, they failed to imprint upon him a positive effect. Still, he persisted, as if eventually the words would sink in and improve his foul mood.

They did not.

Wildfly threw his fist at the door, a clang ringing out as it impacted. He swore once, twice, three, ten times—obscenities that would have even given pause to the likes of Motormaster.

Perhaps if he weren't so busy inventing new curses and thinking of Whirl's severed cranial unit resting in his actuator, he might have noticed the pair of guards that sprinted past his cell, the lingering echoes in their voices mentioning, “Code Alpha” and “Decepticons.”

Garrus 9 - Southern Wing--Block B

"Oh but you are and so am I" Vroom said with a grin, the increasing sounds of action and explosions, thus potential danger, making his oil burn with an intensity it had not done in quite some time. "The idiots who designed this prison thought that if they placed the prisoners around some of the more sensitive parts of the prison then they would not be attacked directly. Stupid right? Still, their stupidity means we are all in the way if whoever is commanding the 'Cons out there decides to go for quickness over recovered prisoners."

Vroom gathered together the different components he had hidden away and began placing them together. All perfectly safe individually but when combined in the right way by expert hands the results could be quite explosive.

Semper Tyrannis – Bridge

Soul Siren returned to the bridge and saluted Scorponok.

"Soul Siren reporting back for duty sir." She said in a professional tone. Perhaps the one good thing of this small, weak body she continuously cursed was that it did not require much energon when compared to larger frames which made her recharging a little quicker. The battle had obviously began so she waited for acknowledgement from Scorponok in case anything had changed.

Semper Tyrannis – Medical Station

The statis pods silently held injured Decepticons all slowly healing. That is, all pods except one. One carried a being that was more monster than mechanoid. He had slept but now, sensing violence near, the monster began to awake. Slaughter healed the monster better than anything the pod contained. A clawed hand suddenly punched through the pod.

Cutthroat had awakened.

Scowl felt a bit reassured hearing Icepick’s reply to him. The two of them had become accustomed to this way of conversing. It was easy enough for Icepick to say anything to him, even in a whisper. It certainly made for nice private conversations. Of course those conversations were often pretty slow since he couldn’t just talk back to him. Even with all of this time the code he used to speak to his teammate was still far more laborious then just talking. It usually meant that his replies were fairly short and succinct.

It was a source of constant frustration for him. He could only barely remember the past, when his voice and sonic powers weren’t muffled. Creating noise is what he did, a ‘sonic saboteur’ they called him, and then the Autobots took it all away. They took away his sonic powers and then left him with his hearing. It was as if they were mocking him, letting him hear everything but say nothing. It was at the point now that he wondered what he had sounded like, wondered what kind of mech he had been. A normal voice was important for any sentient being, but for him it was a vital part of him that had been subdued.

Scowl began listening around him again once Icepick was done. He wanted to see if he could get some more juicy details on this Code Beta. There was a lot of nervous chatter from the guards and curiosity from the prisoners. Then things abruptly changed as he picked up talk of Code Alpha. A deep frown formed on his face and he listened closer, only to let out a very quiet scream as suddenly he could hear explosions, crashes, laser fire and yelling. There was the roar of engines, objects crashing on the ground, feet, wheels and trades moving over the ground in large numbers. He had been trying to tune into the slightest noise and the sudden bombardment sent him into shock. His hands flew over his audio receptors as he dropped to his knees.

The prisoner quickly dialed back his sense of hearing, gradually overcoming the overload of noise. The prison was under attack, a massive attack from what he had heard. He didn’t know what to make of that. In all of the time he’s spent in the prison he had never heard, even considered, an attack on the prison. What did this mean? Was he going to be able to escape, or would he be killed? Who was attacking? Would they even succeed?

One thing was for certain, he wasn’t going to just sit on this, the biggest, juiciest bit of info to have ever hit the prison. He quickly began banging out a new message to Icepick, using one of the rocks he used as a game piece to make the noise loud and clear. “CODE ALPHA. ATTACK”

Yes, this Flame fellow was quite amusing. Obviously they had kept him separate from the other prisoners. His attitude would have gotten him beaten to a pulp at the very least. Not many other beings would be as amused at his antics as she was, particularly those locked up in here. She wouldn’t exactly call the rest of the prison population patient or sophisticated.

Airachnid waved her hand dismissively at his comments. “I’m so glad I make your approval. I was so striving for that.” He was trying to needle her, but she wasn’t affected. He had already proven that he really knew little about her background. If he was going to go fishing for more information she wasn’t about to take the bait. Instead she flipped it around on him.

“So, I am going to eventually escape then. What about you though? Do you plan to rust in here forever? It seems your please have fallen on deaf ears and aren’t going to get you out of here any time soon. Have you considered being a bit more… proactive in gaining your freedom? Certainly someone like you with such big and fantastic plans must have some ideas of getting out of here. I’m not asking you to share them with me, that would be foolish of course, I’m just curious to hear if you have them.”

As she spoke Airachnid was noticing a decent amount of guard traffic happening in the area. She didn’t react to it openly, but she was keeping an optic on it. It appeared that something was going on. Perhaps this was the first sign of Kronus’s escape attempt? She would have to be ready to move quickly if that was the case, to take advantage of whatever confusion might be generated.

Garrus-9--Primary Receiving

Whirl's comment had allowed for the briefest moment of levity despite the seriousness of the circumstances. Ultra Magnus wouldn't have cracked a smile. But Fortress Maximus was not Ultra Magnus. He offered up a quick prayer of thanks to primus for that little fact.

"I figured when I didn't call back he got the picture," Maximus quipped back in Whirl's direction as the first of the two main defense turrets began to assault the Decepticon aerial forces. The second focused on those that were surely approaching from the ground, even if Maximus could not see over the walls from this particular vantage point.

"Pick off who we can from a distance, otherwise hunker down. Make them come to us. We have this nice, fortified prison. I'd hate to give that advantage over to the 'Cons," Maximus said as he stalked his way back into the primary reception area. He wanted a better vantage point, but he also wanted a crack at the first Decepticons who managed to breach their defense. He didn't know when that would happen or who it would be when it did. All he knew was that he intended to be ready for them.

Rung's sudden transmission had at least assured the warden that his psychiatrist was still perfectly functioning. That was good, as his skills would be just as valuable as anyone's in dealing with this, not only in the here and now but especially in the aftermath.

This was Maximus' golden opportunity to take Scorponok out of the war effort for good. Especially if he was coming right here to Maximus' turf. But he was not some rosey-opticked idealist. He knew such a victory would come with a hefty price. But the value in finally removing Scorponok as a threat to the Autobots--and to the universe itself--could not be overstated. For Maximus, only Megatron would be a more valuable prize. And given Scorponok's threat level over the vorns, Maximus could possibly debate even that.

It was an opportunity that he would not see go to waste.

>>"We're at Code Alpha Rung. As serious as it gets. We're under full Decepticon assault. The facility's on complete lockdown. You'll have to use your officer's codes to get anywhere. No standing orders for any of my mental or physical health providers. You guys know what to do without me spelling it out. We're all gonna need you. Do what you do."<<

Maximus began ascending one of the primary stairwells leading to a higher vantage point.

The Steelhaven--Corridors

"That's a--that's a Terrorcon!"

"Where in the Pit did they come from?!?"

"The Pit," Sinnertwin answered for them, leaping forward to maul the first Autobot to lag behind just a little too slowly as they attempted to flee. Or fight. Neither really mattered to Sinnertwin. His satisfaction came in the pursuit. And of course in the spark-satisfying evisceration that often followed.

As one of the heads tore into the shoulder-joint of the first poor Autobot, the other latched violently onto the mech's face, biting down and locking his jaw as he began to shake and tear until something eventually gave.

"Technit!" the other Autobot cried, running back to try and save his friend. Sinnertwin's second head looked up, followed by the first. A low, rumbling growl emanated from the Decepticon's vocal processors, halting the Autobot in its tracks. Brave...but severely outmatched, and he knew it.

Sinnertwin roared and leapt forward.

Space around Elba

His hovercraft form easily maneuvering around the massively destructive turret blasts, the bulk of Scourge's attention was now focused on the three support ships that had accompanied the Steelhaven on its original journey to intercept the mysterious Decepticon baitship they sent. With Cyclonus and the others assaulting the Steelhaven from within, Scourge knew that it would only be a matter of time before it fell into their possession. It was the other ships that were a priority now. They would have the pleasure of being among the first Autobot casualties on the Elba moon.

As he and two other Sweeps arced over the starboard wing of one of the Autobot ships, a stray blast caught one of the Sweeps. Unfortunately a glancing blast from a weapon that large was enough to send the entire Sweep's body bursting into flame before it rocketed downward toward its ultimate demise.

Scourge said nothing, nor altered his plans in the slightest.

Coldly, mercilessly, he focused his fire on the first of the three support ships.

"Heh. Mebbe so," Stormwrecker grunted. "But idealism ain't got no place in this war. No for the grunts. And not for the shopsmechs that arm 'em. We do or we die. Or...we do and we die. Either way."

Stormwrecker paused. The activity, whatever it was, sounded a lot closer now. And there seemed to be a lot more of it. He couldn't deny that he felt just a little bit excited. His mention of Megatron had been a little off the cuff, non-serious remark. But now, who knew? Maybe it was him. Whatever was going on, someone wanted this prison. Or something inside it, and Stormwrecker knew it wasn't him.

Pestilence - Hangar

Snaptrap ignored the vast majority of his team's banter. It mostly consisted of inconsequential moaning and groaning from Nautilator who they would likely need to reassemble after the assault. The seacon commander entered the part of thePestilence's hangar which housed the drop ships. All of the pods had been taken by the insecticons who had gone before them. It was finally time.

Boarding the drop ship, Snaptrap took the helm as the rest of the Seacons boarded. Once all were aboard, Snaptrap closed the drop ship bay doors and opened the hangar doors. Activating the drop ship's engines, the drop ship pushed off of the floor and flew out into Elba air space.

Elba Air Space

Out in the open with the rest of the aerial forces that has been dispatched by the other ships in Snaptrap's battlegroup, Snaptrap's actuators gripped the controls as he avoided turret fire from the prison facility below. As another volley passed near the drop ship, Snaptrap's amber optics narrowed in aggravation. "Take out those turrets," the Seacon Commander ordered the other Seacons as he navigated them downward and over the Insecticon horde massing at the first set of walls.

The drop ship quaked as it another blast of meteoric turret fire grazed by them. If worst came to worst, the drop ship could be used as a massive missile to destroy a section of the walls. However, the drop ship could weather a bit more of this as disgusting as it was being one of the Insecticon's ships.

Umbra carefully surveyed the decks of the southern detention wing. Maybe it was nothing to worry about. She has just grown accustomed to living at the Penitentiary. Now something had to come along and disrupt her peace. The agent heard Icepick begin to speak to himself - or perhaps...to Scowl? How could Scowl hear Icepick from here? He wasn't even tapping. Umbra pushed these questions aside as she listened to Icepick while scanning the surrounding decks to see if there was a detail, something, that would give her a hint as to the current situation.

Suddenly, the open doors on all levels of the southern wing slammed shut, making Umbra jump, startled. Guards were stationed at all conceivable strategic points while giant locks slammed into place.

"I'm intrigued. I wonder if someone's escaped. Someone important. I can't imagine a more futile gesture in an isolated place like this, but who knows. Might make things interesting for a few breems."

Escaped? Airachnid? No. No, I don't think so. I wouldn't put it past her to take advantage of this situation however she can though. Hopefully, there won't be many opportunities for that. But then...what is the alarm for? Umbra thought pensively.

As the femme considered the possibilities, Icepick answered her earlier query. Scowl had highly attuned audio receptors. Interesting. Code Beta as well. Umbra leaned forward barely a circuit's breadth away from the bars, trying to find hard fact apart from all of the speculations racing through her processors.

"Can Scowl hear if-"

Umbra fell quiet instantaneously as Scowl beat out a rather urgent sounding message to Icepick. The agent already knew by instinct before the message could be put into words. This was big. Very big. Something very, very big was happening.
