As for Roddy, I've been really conflicted on whether or not I should pick him up. But you may have pushed me toward pulling the trigger...

And as for the Gundam, wow that is cool. I'll be building my first Gundam kit for a friend soon enough...
...I'm actually really worried about messing it up

Thanks!

I think Roddy is pretty awesome. I encourage you to try him out. He's not Scorn, but he is still really good.

My recommendation: note which way the frikkin rubbery pieces go. I screwed up only once on the entire kit, early on, but I had to disassemble his torso to reverse the one pieces direction since it was supposed to hold a ball joint and I put the smaller hole side in facing the ball joint

After one it's real easy to want more. I made a deal with myself no more until I've finished the one I have. Procrastination at its finest!

They're incredible. I was amazed at how all the pieces meshed and moved. He has 3 different pieces that mode when he does an ab crunch! Lots of work, but so worth it.

The plus side to being small: they will take up less space!

I only want to do one at a time, finish it up before I even think of the next
There are all types of sizes and grades of varying complexity. I think mine is second from the tip or something. It's hard to keep up with all that. I'm close to finished but it came with a ton of stickers.

The articulation is insane. And all the moving pieces are a marvel to watch. Maybe this weekend with a little inspiration from a pal.

Also if you ever get customizey feeling the GUNPLA community is super helpful.

The reason I chose this Gundam was because he looked cool, and there were about 40 or 50 individuals ones in there, all unique with no repeats. It was insane. I am not too worried about getting a repeat for a long time.

And maybe I'll look into that GUNPLA community. There are all sorts of options with this guy and the many more out there

I did a couple little SD kits and got a taste for them and was looking to go to the next level. I didn't really do any research just got what looked cool and complex that was in stock. I really didn't know what I was getting myself into. I just grabbed the guy that looked vaguely like Drift.

I looked into it later to see where I stood. It's the 1/144th RG Astray Red Frame. Very Drift like.

The pic is a link for more info. Anyway, I think my next will be a 1/100 MG, for a bigger more challenging model.

Sweet! That one is definitely pretty cool looking.

Mine is a 1/100 scale, and I think it is a perfect size, though I'd like to try one larger

I thought 1/100 was the big ones? I have no idea. I'm looking at them now. I think the master grade (MG) is the more complicated ones.

I did see some that transform into ships that look a lot like the shooter games I used to play.

I should stop now, not as if I don't have enough rabbit holes as is.

I thought so too, but looking at Gundam wiki, they advertised mine as the 1/100 scale one.

I did see 2 that transformed, but this guy looked cooler than those 2.

I was told the HG and MG scales were the ones that were generally bought the most.

Well 1/100 is bigger than 1/144. I'm not sure if the different grades are size class specific. Mostly just parts count and complexity.

I don't know much honestly, but I think it goes like this HG < RG < MG < PG and there are probably variations in between. I'll just pick mostly by cost and what looks cool.

They are fun and challenging kits that are a step above the average sprue kit. Speaking of sprukits, I built a wolf bot thing the other day. It was a quick and fun kit. It gave me that gundam construction vibe then I spied Bandai on the box, derp.

That was how I was thinking. Cost and cool looks. I don't know enough to do anymore.

On your wolfbot build, there was one yesterday that had a giant horse he could ride in addition to the actual Gundam himself. It was cool

Nice you got a Gundam! Looks pretty cool. As far as all the “grades” go, I think I’m just gonna stick to the High Grades for my tastes. The complexity of the other ones kinda worry me. And besides, the HGs are cheap and small. The thing is I haven’t bought a second yet. I should really fix that eventually...

Hey guys, how are things going? Got a question or 2 for you guys and a few things to say.

First the main question: anyone here have that 3rd part Tarn? can you give me some honestly opinions about him? Maybe a brief (or not so brief) photoshoot?

Next up, asking about shelves, do any of you have the shelves that have the full 360 glass encasing? I was looking to hunt one down in the next few months to display some of my more important/favorite/expensive figures in eventually.

I am considering the shelves because I have somethings really looking up for a job that I have an interview for on Thursday for my state Department of Environmental Protection, and should I get said job, while I would still live at home for a bit most likely because of how close the work is, I would potentially move into a house my family bought and is currently rented by my cousins family, who are expected to move out once they buy a place for themselves, potentially this spring/early summer. And one of my TF shelves would become my TV stand, so I need to start looking at new shelves for figures for once I have the space

Also, I was sent this, and I bought it for my girlfriend for Valentine's day, and I didn't know if any of you even knew they did doggie bouquets (pic is a link)

I have Tarn, and I think very highly of him. Let me see if I can scrape something together for pictures.

How big do you want the 360 shelves? I have two display cases from Ikea that are very close to this. They were very easy to assemble and keep my figures in there pretty dust free. (In fact, coincidentally, that is where Tarn will live when I finish unpacking my figures.

[Edit] And that Corgi bouquet is friggin' awesome! I don't know if my Corgi will sit still enough to let me do that to him. (I have a tri-color Pembroke Welsh Corgi.)

Hey D!

I must say Mastermind Creations' KULTUR (Tarn!) is one of my absolute favorite figures. He is fairly A. Milne accurate, has great articulation (although his cannon can sometimes get in the way, due to its size), and dat mask is removable!

My thoughts on Tarn are very much the same as Ag and bodrock. He is a really fantastic figure that I haven’t regretted buying once. However one thing that does bug me at times is his twin-fusion cannon has a tendency to clash with his shoulder armor and it sticks out a smidge too far from the arm. It’s not hard to deal with but it is a small nitpick. Some don’t like the simplicity of the transformation but for me, it gets the job done really well. It helps that the tank mode is surprisingly faithful to the art.

If neither of those nitpicks bother you and the price is fine, I’d say go for it. You shouldn’t be disappointed. ;)^

That's actually a pretty decent size, and probably what I would want to shoot for! Not sure how soon I will get them, but that price ain't too bad either.

Sweet! thanks for the pictures! I didn't know the cannons actually split apart, so that's a neat feature! Also, did you see they are retooling Tarn to make an IDW MTMTE Thunderclash? The back looks a bit rough, but the front looks good!
Autobot N wrote:Hey D-Max, what'd you think of the Super Bowl? It was pretty nice to see the Patriots get on the wrong end of some questionable calls.

Hey N! I actually did not watch the Super Bowl during its scheduled time, I did not want to watch the Pats. but once I found out they lost, I watched the DVRed thing the next day. It was glorious! I loved how the Eagles had to one-up the Pats after Brady dropped that pass

Thanks, and yes this is where I wanted to see some pics! I am a fan of the more simplistic transformations that get the job done, it allows me to actually use the alt mode. I don't like transforming the fiddly and overcomplicated guys at all, so they rarely leave whatever mode I have them in.

Thanks everyone!

I watched it at my youth group's Super Bowl party, and man, that was one of the most entertaining football games I have ever had the pleasure of watching. Thankfully, the people in my youth group are sensible people, as the room erupted into pandemonium every time the Eagles did something good, but fell silent whenever the Patriots did so.

I loved how the Eagles had to one-up the Pats after Brady dropped that pass

Fun fact, there were more passes attempted to quarterbacks than there were punts.

Thunders is looking pretty darn good, but he’s not a must have.

Even though I’m not much of a football guy,(still Go Steelers!), I did watch a bit of the Super Bowl. It’s just so fun to hate on Brady and the Patriots. And man we’re there some entertaining moments.

So I spent the weekend with girl for Valentines day, and we enjoyed strolling through some malls on Saturday. In the process, I found a Voltron shirt for the first time ever, and the entire Beast Wars series for only $20!

Also, she got me a porg as part of my gift to go with all the chocolate. And he is adorable. and I named him Patrick :-D

Well the past week has been fun. Parents got me a new Gundam I have yet to assemble for my birthday since we finally were all at the Hobby Shop.

Then Saturday I went out with my girl and played meet the parents, which went good. In the process we went to Walmart, and there was a single wave 2 figure: Elita-1! She is damn good, far better than Starscream in robot and jet mode to me. Only the combined form convinces me this mold was meant for her instead of Starscream.

She's also special because when I got her out of the box, I figured out her feet were on backwards. So she became the first figure I modified, taking her lower legs apart and flipping the foot. And did I mention she's nice?

And then today after work, I found the wave 2 legends and Hun-gurr, but funny enough no Elita. I opened them a little bit ago and will play with them some more and take more pictures soon, but I am excited for Battletrap!

PS: I am up to the 3 part season finale of season 2 of Beast Wars. Damn.... Code of Hero and Transmutate made me tear up. They were both so sad and touching :-(
