Wouldn't surprise me to see Quintus Prime, and Solus Prime is kind of an "architect" like character so that's a good thought too. Solus Prime would also link us back to Caminus, maybe even Elita One's gang (who is a mystery themselves!)

A question, how many of the original primes are dead or at least shown on page to be dead?

I'm wondering this just with regards to prime wars. Maybe we're getting close to the time we're will have official figures of all the primes.

Well, Nexus was killed by Galvatron (or maybe not) and that's all we know really. The others could very well be alive (and we still don't know who all 13 ARE). With Sentinel coming back I would not be surprised in the slightest if Nexus is still alive as are A3 and the other 11. Would be cool to get the 13 as toys though. I would buy all 13 for my original primes collection

I had a good time reading this. There are two parts, regardless if your theory pans out, that interest me greatly.

1. Grimlock: I feel the sam way as you. They have this A list character for 5 years and havent done much with him. I forgot he was even around. I do hope he becomes the Grimlock we know and love again soon.

2. Tyrest, Pharma and Sabre: The wherabouts of those 3 is something I really want to know. They repesent the three pillars of society (law, medicine, and religion) gone wrong. I hope they come back soon, at least Sabre. There needs to be a rematch.

I still dont get what happened at the end of that story arc (with Tyrest on the moon). Here is the scene described in the wiki, if anyone wants to give me their understanding of it, I am all ears:

On the other side of the portal, a confusing sight greets Skids: a great city stands in the distance, and four moons float the sky above, as does a huge, multi-coloured spark. The orb of energy communicates with Skids in a synesthetic medley of sensations that he cannot comprehend, but his struggle for understanding is cut off by a cry for help from Rung from the other side of the portal.

Possibly primus, though that scene could be reminiscent of the scene in 2001: a space odyssey. So yeah I'm saying primus.

Overall Theory Update
I think we'll see anything Unicronian post "Titans Return" at this point, meaning 2017. That being the unifying thing for Issue 50, while it could still happen, I just don't see it. Maybe 50 is now just where more seeds start to get seriously planted.

Stuff I was right about!

• Hey, Bludgeon came back in Redemption! Not for long, but gee, "building" Sweeps? Who would do such a thing? Ok, so not exactly "building", but close enough. Safe to say he's involved in some grander plan that likely doesn't involve Shockwave's plans, especially since we've already seen that the Crystal City singularity is still indeed a thing.
• Beast characters are in Sins of the Wreckers! I swear I had no advance knowledge of this. Super double dog pinky swear. I am not tight with Nick Roche like that y'all, we did one interview one time. with that said...
• Springer is back and Matrix compatibility is already being teased. If he survives SotW, maybe this one is a home-run prediction?

Stuff I was wrong about.

• Probably wrong about the Scavengers, but you never know. At least the bit about Grimlock joining up with the others soon is almost definitely wrong, as Roberts is on record as saying we may not see the Scavengers again until late this year and they won't sit on that plot in the Sea of Rust that long.
• Why Prowl called the Wreckers.
• Looks like Tarn and his army will be facing off against Megatron before anything else, and that looks to be what happens at issue 50 for MTMTE based off solicits.

Stuff I was half right or half wrong about?

• Well, Blackrock is related to/is Onyx Prime somehow, which seems obvious in hindsight. So, correct that something was up with him and that he wasn't human and could be Cybertronian, but had guessed Scorponok or some other alien race which was not correct. Other stuff on him TBD.
• Beast characters in Sins of the Wreckers! Yes, I mentioned this earlier, but it's unknown if their purpose is related to my earlier theory about them.

Well it was some nice thought! But it is looking like total war: DJD v. Lost Light. I'm still hoping for Defensor to show up in time for the fight

All I have to say is that the Ore 13 making the Matrix react theory makes no sense. Optimus, and the Matrix, have been around plenty of Ore 13 before without such a thing happening. They even were very recently in Revolution! I think the panels below are related:

This would also be fun. I don't see any reason why he couldn't be Amalgamous Prime, or maybe Alchemist which would play well with his "glasses"

Well I was only off by 1.5-2 years of plot.

Got a lot wrong, might have got a lot right, but really it was a wonderful time.

Bumping this because if you saw IDW's announcement from SDCC and didn't see Unicron coming, the first post (though very dated in sections and now with missing images) goes through a great deal of hints that this was happening at some point.

So I took your advice and re-read the theory. I really hope you are right about Shockwave. I really liked Dark Cybertron, except for the ending. I also think Shockwave is too smart to go out like that, and he pulled a fast one on everyone, because he saw Unicron coming even way back then. And if or when he shows up (I don't know what was announced at SDCC) Shockwave will come out of nowhere to either save the day and return to being Senator Shockwave, or he will at least help someone, not necessarily Rodimus, to defeat the Chaos Bringer. I, for one, would love to see an issue like the original Marvel comic where the Transformers all teamed up and spent the entire issue fighting with Unicron, and the Matrix only came into play at the end. Plenty of opportunities for heroic deaths. Roberts, of course, will most likely screw it up, much like he has done with the majority of the series. Just my opinion.

I get the idea that it could also simply be backstory. This is a mini focusing on the chaos-bringer, so I doubt it's gonna result in a battle -- not just yet, at least.

If it is I kinda want it over and done with. A big, religious battle with a vengeful god and everyone involved sounds a bit dullsville.

I'd love to see it as a prolonged incursion with very little of Unicron himself (gendered pronouns for deities is weird, yeah?), at least at the outset. Have Sideways show up and be like hey, I'm stealing a bunch of your Energon to go wake up Unicron. Everyone thinks he's nuts. He's not. Heralds show up. Bots get corrupted. Four horsemen ride in on Predacons. Do this over a year. Show Unicron building his power to the reader, have it involve a rogue Knight of Cybertron. Don't have a climactic battle at all, for now. Unicron appears and eats Cybertron like it's Lithone in TFTM. That'd be new and different, and with proper execution, really damn good.

I think mostly this just stems from my dislike of Unicron as a concept. At the same time, IDW is the continuity that took what seemed like a dumb concept and made it arguably the best story of the entire franchise. So I'm willing to see where this goes.

Well, Kurona, you're entitled to your opinion, and I am entitled to absolutely disagree. I think a prolonged fight against Unicron (with or without religion involved) would be fun, and something the MTMTE/LL universe needs, as it's getting rather plodding and boring. An overall grand scheme being introduced is a good way to spice things up. And, in my opinion, Roberts is not good at making his own ideas work well in a story, so he might as well use a previously established element and build on it. I do agree that Unicron's arrival should be foreshadowed over perhaps a year-long story arc with increasingly more elements like heralds being introduced. Not sure if Roberts has the chops for drawn-out stories like that, though, considering how Dying of the Light turned out. Maybe since it would be THE main event in the TF universe, it could be a collaboration, and Barber could do the heavy lifting while Roberts concentrates on the unnecessary characters like Rung and Anode.

Given his penchant for callbacks to Marvel UK (and rightfully so, I'd add!), maybe said ideas could come from really awesome stuff like "The Legacy of Unicron". No Death's Head to make it quite as magic this go-round, but plenty of others that could step up to the plate :cough:VigilemPossessedWindblade:cough:

Maybe you should re-title this thread the "100 issue story arc" Or maybe at least the "80 issue story arc." If LL ended at issue 23, that would make 80 if added to MTMTE. It would be a nice homage to G1. (Of course I'm not counting G2 or ReGen) Or maybe Roberts has enough in himself to get to issue 43 to make it an even 100.

Also, I know little to nothing about First Strike, is that story taking place in the Optimus Prime comic, or is it the next mini-series after TAAO? And are there any plans to have LL involved somehow down the line?

A retitle makes sense. Hmm. Might make a new thread and merge this or something. Will ponder, intwnding to update the quite out-of-date FAQ this weekend too so will play around with that.

As for First Strike, it's this year's "Revolution". Optimus Prime will continue during it to tell the story of the Transformers that remain on Earth while Prime and some others go to Cybertron, which reminds me of Chaos a bit. Lost Light will also continue during it and generally be uninvolved, for now.

Outside of GI Joe (as Cobra dudes will ve attacking Cybertron, thus Joes help Prime defend it), it's not yet clear how the other Hasbro properties will be involved outside of "they will be". The release schedule isn't goiing to help as things that were meant to come out well before First Strike will be hitting during it.
