The Next Phase of the Official Seibertron.com RPG is set to begin

The Official Seibertron.com RPG - The Story So Far....


AREA 51 - Discovering that the people of Earth have been using some form of Cybertronian technology, Optimus Prime and his band of Autobots descend on the secret military installation to unveil how the humans have gained these abilities. Deep in the recesses of the base, held in stasis lock, the DINOBOTS and the Decepticon known as SHOCKWAVE are found!

Wheeljack was working on reanimating the DINOBOTS when Megatron and his maniacal Decepticons unleashed their fury upon both the Autobots and the human military forces. Being well outnumbered by Autobots alone, Megatron calls in his elite destruction group, the PREDACONS!

The battle raged on as Wheeljack managed to bring the Dinobots back online but was foiled at getting Shockwave out of the installation before the Predacons could get him. Once Megatron saw that Shockwave was at this secret location, he let his full fury out on the humans by completely destroying the fabled base.

The battle continues in the Official Seibertron.com RPG. Megatron has plans to send Shockwave on a mission to complete the experimentation that brought him to Earth to begin with and that mission begins on CYBERTRON.

Optimus Prime and the Autobots are unaware of what Megatron has planned, but he's dispatched the recently activated Dinobots to stop them at all costs.

This sounds really fun, never done it before. I read a few of the rules etc, and wanted to find out how exactly to get involved right. I'd like to be Warpath (BLAM!! POW!!!)or Astrotrain. Any direction is greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!

Well, the rules have the application format in it. Just write up an app and the mods will look at it and go from there. Warpath is available to play, as is Astrotrain. Just be sure to give us a solid sample post in the application.

You can apply for cannons that are not on the list. The mods just didn't want the list to be overly long. Just make sure the alt mode you chose fits in with infiltration on earth. Once some of the action gets back to Cybertron, an alt mode won't have to be as "earth friendly". Hope this helps!

As Smokescreen said canon characters not listed are available within reason. The list was kept short to be better manageable and to encourage people to apply for a 'core cast' that could be built off of later. Characters outside of that list are available, excluding special cases like cityformers, sixchangers and the like. The only restriction was that they needed to have alternate modes that would blend in on Earth, since both sides are remaining covert. This is going to change as groups from both sides move to Cybertron, which is why Shockwave, the Dinobots and the Predacons have been introduced. On Cybertron alternate modes that wouldn't work on Earth, such as beasts and futuristic or Cybertronian ones, will be allowed.

At this moment in the RPG we are nearing the end of the battle at Area 51 described in the article. Once that is over there will be a period of regrouping and shifting gears as we move to the next storyline. That would be a good time for new characters to jump in, especially ones bound for Cybertron. Just make sure to familiarize yourself with the rules, history and summary threads so you know the background and setting of the game. :)

See, the thing is... I'm not overly concerned with what altmodes would fit, which is what a lot of the advice here seems to revolve around, so much as what personality types would fit. Believe me, I have plenty of experience in other campaigns with characters that technically fit the setting, but ended up being useless in the specific storyline due to personality and/or skills that didn't gel very well.

Since only the mods know where the storyline is going, there is something to be said to having a list of characters that they know would be useful in the storyline, or at least give some good indication of what types of characters are needed. "There will be some science exploration on other worlds, so the more technical and scientific types, as well as diplomatic types, would be useful" or "There's going to be a fair bit of fighting, so rough and tough characters will work best", that sort of thing.

Well we do have to be cognizant of the alt modes. If someone say wanted to play Doublecross, then he would get stuck back at the base for a large portion of the game since he can't blend in with Earth vehicles. The other option is to change his alternate mode. That works with some characters, but definitely not with Doublecross. It would effectively ruin him.

As for personalities not getting along, that is definitely part of the game. It would be fairly boring if everyone got along perfectly. There need to be some bumps in the road, opportunities for drama or scheming. Look no further then the classic Megatron-Starscream relationship for that. It works for the Autobots too, as Sunstreaker basically gets along with no one other than Sideswipe. Conflict, internal and external, is what fuels the story.

As for recommending characters I generally try to avoid this, the starting canon roster for this game being the exception. I want people to play whomever they want to play. We can work in pretty much any character and if we have a specific need for a character one of the staff can NPC him.

In the future lets keep these types of questions and comments to the chatterbox. I'd like to keep this thread open to questions and comments from people interested in playing the game. :)
