All right. We all know the Classics are Damn near perfect but there is ALWAYS room for improvement right? OT at least what we kitbashes call improvments...

Anyhoo, I don't want the site bogged down with umpteen billion versions of Classics and the Minor mods done to paint or mold so I thought we could round all those little doggies here.

Here is my take on SS so far. Still have a couple more paint touchups to do but otherwise he's on the right track.

Next on my list? Megatron...who else? Once I get a Secondary version I'd like to make a Classics Browning as well.

Feel free to show off your minor Classics mods here and feel free to talk about what you did.

If anyone has any questions i'll do my best to answer them as well.

Nice. Never thought of giving Screamer a wash. I kind of liked his air show paint, though.

Except for the wash ( which looks good, just not my cup of tea ), I really like what you did. I'm thinking of making a mold of my RM Starscream lasers with bigger posts to fit. The ones he has are way too big. I want to make a mold so I can cast new ones repeatedly for the other six seekers we're sure to get.

If you do mold and cast the RM blasters I'd buy a few sets for my Classics seekers.

And love that paint work, probably do the similiar to mine once I'm all moved and such.

It'a amazing how something as simple as a paint wash can jack up the realism 10 fold!!!! Beautiful work :P

I think I'm going to be using the null rays from my oversized RM starscream for classics whenever I get him. Those cannons just look WAY too big on a mold whos chest already looks a bit on the wide side.

I touched up Starscream, but left his "airshow" scheme intact, just improved a few things, chest, face...

I didn't do a traditional was but what I call a "Hard Wash"

I actually paint the entire surface black. Let dry.

Then I use a junk cloth (I have many for these kinds of purposes only) and put a couple dabs of Paint thinner or lighter fluid on it.

Then I rub the entire surface clean.

The end result is a perfect depth of black left behind in the cracks and looks much better then any marker type pens I've used in the past.

It's even simpler to outline the lines with a marker pen then do a quick rub with Paint thinner/Lighter fluid.

As long as any messy lines left behine are cleaned the remaining should stay within the cracks.

A straight "Wash" is just using a type of thinned paints and hope it stays neatly behind. Doesn't work or look nearly as good.

wow. I love the wash, makes it look like alot more effort was put into the paint job than the original. Makes me wish they had done something like that on all of the Cybertron series, so they would look more like they do in the stock pictures.

Okay. So this is the one things that's friving me crazy. Megatron's Fusion Cannon. It's mounted on the underside of his arm, when it should be the side. It just doesn't look right. So here's my question. Any thoughts on rotating either the cannon or the hand? I think it would be a simple matter to switch the hand out with another one that has the rod hinge on the side. Thoughts?

This bugs me as well. Due to the transformation, I think moving the cannon to the side would not work too well. However, I have thought of cutting the fist off and gluing it back on sideways. The cannon would still be on the bottom though when you compare the elbow. Whatever you do though, you got to do it on both arms so they match.

Don't own him yet, but heres a thought, make swivel hinges both at the wrist and directly below the elbow. This way he could turn his hand so the gun is on the side and still bend at the elbow.

you can't put a swivel below the elbow. the sides of the forearm wouldn't allow the elbow to bend. you can already swivel above the elbow to put the cannon in the right position if his elbow is straight.

Actually, I think it would take some modding, but you could trim away his fore arms around the wrists. Then change the hands so they're swivle wrists.

I'm trying to remember. Was there an Energon/Cybertron toy that had hindged swivle wrists?

I wish there was a way to move the cannon itself to the side, but I think that's fairly beyond impossible and still have it functional.

I also wish he was a real nurf gun, but that's just me. :p

Minor mod I did: I took a fine tipped metalic silver permanent marker to the yellow in the crest of Prime's head. Looks a ton better.

Plan to do: I'm gonna strip the white off of Bumblebee, and then probably add some black trim to break up all that yellow.

I did the same, but I also outlined prime's cab window/chest with silver also, there's actually a thin molded line to follow, as well as wipers. I painted the silly blue on his shoulders silver and his actual grill and bumper both silver as well as the yellow on his knee-caps. man its amazing how much better he looks.

oh yeah, I also detail painted the pump looking piece of his exhaust rifle, so that in truck mode, you have silver on the stacks on the front.

Im currently working on Prime's trim and some other areas and Rodimus I removed the yellow on the head and I gotta do something about that crappy gun they gave him... Bumblebee I'll kepp the way he is (There's a possiblility of reproing his head to a larger scale for an Alternator sized Bumblebee) and gave him a gun from one of the K.O. Autobot Combiners from the Victory series that broke.
Megatron will get some treatment as well as a way to fix the cannon problem.
Astrotrain is ok so far...
Starscream I haven't gotten yet...

bear in mind that rumors are running rappid right now that Botcon's toys next year will be exclusives. So if you're one of those that mods because you think Hasbro wont... *shrug* anyways.

Still working on megs. Bumblebee is cool, but doesnt roll right.

Nice to see that transparent red works so well on Megatron. I plan to do the same thing to the green parts of his wings, if I ever get my hands on one.
