Ok, seeing as we have a gamertag thread I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread dedicated to broken 360s to see how widespread the problem is among forum members.

Personally 2 of my friends with 360 have had to send theirs off for repair and my brothers 360 died at the start of the month.

As for me, my launch console was going strong without a single error until this morning when my GPU crapped out :-( which couldn't have come at a worse time as my brothers 360 was only sent off on Friday due to problems with the shipping labels that were sent, so I currently have no regular access to one.

Oh well at least I can use my bros ps3

Post your experiences with the un/reliabilty of yours or a friends 360 as im sure at least one person here has had more than 1 repair and plenty with no problems as well.

Whoa, looks like I'll have to stick with my current systems and hold off on buying any of the newer systems, since Xbox 360 has a crapload of problems, I can't find the wii in stores, and I'm not taking out a loan  to buy the PS3.

I'm currently on my second 360, which I got for nothing thanks to the warranty, and it's worked like a charm for over a year. Outpacing my first by about nine months.

I picked up the Elite on it's launch day.

Haven't had any major problems with it yet. The only problems I've seemed to have was the 360 wasn't playing a certain DVD or two that I rented.

Luckily I have a 2 year BEst Buy Warranty, so, I'll be replacing the 360 with a brand spanking new one soon enough.

I don't have a 360, but my brother does, and his broke down earlier this month. On the worst possible day too, cause me and a couple of friends went down to play some 360, but we couldn't since it chose that moment to overheat, and not work for the rest of the day! Before it broke down though, I DID get to play some Earth Defense Force 2017, which is total awsomeness 8) .

And my bro told me yesterday that his friend that has a 360 also had it break down recently. They both had at least second run 360's, so I guess all the bugs weren't worked out yet. Maybe they finally are with the Elite's.

I'm on my fourth 360 and thanks to Gamestops Product Replacement plan it hasn't been a problem at all. After my PRP is up I'll still get the replace any faulty units for free thanks to the 3 year warranty. :D

I don't own an X-box 360, but I felt this was relevant to the conversation.

You folks know that you can fix the 3 Red Lights permanently with $7.00 of screws and washers right?

True enough. But hey at least this can be fixed compared to the always awesome disc read error so many folks had with the PS2.
