Yeah we already had one of those. I think it had something to do with the Seekers, Sunstorm, and Home Depot. One of the "SP vs. Sto" battles.

Animated Starscream is not black. It's a dark Blue. Yes it does look quite black but so does the Joker's hair in the Batman animated series. (the one played by Luke Skywalker not the more cartoons.)

If you look at the "shine" on Starscream's hands, you can see they're blue.

Same with Joker's hair, you can see a "shine" of green. I'm not sure what to actully call that, other than shine. It's a lighter color ment to represent lighting on the character.

Let me know if you have no idea what I'm talking about. I'm not even sure how clear I'm being. I'll post pictures next time to show what I was talking about.

I am familiar with the convention, I watch more anime than I have cells in my body, but you're really clutching at straws here. Even if the shades are off by the tiniest of tiny margins. People are going to look at the "grey" on G1 Starscream and say "white", and they're going to look at the "blue" on Animated Starscream and say "black", because there is not enough of a distinction to make the difference plain. For all intents and purposes they are what they are closest to.

Actully Sto it appears you missed part of the Conversation.

We were talking about Starscreams 3 main colors.

Grey, Red, and BLUE! The blue being his hands and feet. We weren't talking about his body this time.

Someone said he was dark grey, dark red, and BLACK. And while admittedly it does look black, take a look at the bottom of his right foot in the picture you posted. It's a dark blue, not black.

Normally I wouldn't get anywhere near you guys "conversations" because most of the time I agree with you but this time I have to point out that as far as Hasbro is concerned Starscreams G1 colors are White, Red and Blue. The best example being the new Universe toy which is without a doubt white and is clearly labled as G1, comparing that to previous one and you see what Rodimus was saying.

Actually Animated Starscream is black not blue.
You can see this as the blue used for lighting those parts is very very thin and just there were he's exposed to the light source.
If those parts were blue they would be coloured with dark blue and light blue to highlight the light. There would be a lot more blue.
the same technique is used for Venom:
Image
Blue is used as showing light on black surfaces as you can see in the image. The image is from the time as Venom was still mostly black and not blue as they mostly show him today.

The only "White" Starscream toy was the G2 release that was partly white.

All other releases of the Starscream in the 80's were different shades of grey.

Here's a page with known variants on G1 tf toys.I believe they cover every single variant.

And whats your point????

I didnt miss that part at all....considering that "Pottermus" brought up "Bloomin Blue" and that is a color that is close to the toys main bodies color scheme I believe its safe to assume that "Pottermus" was talking about the body and not the feet.

I've never seen so many in need of eye doctors.

Image

Thats grey not white

Image

he's lighter then the first release but its still grey

Image
Image

Just look at the tail fin closely

Image

Blue with a red and white stripe.

See how the white stands out from the grey of the main body????

Its grey....it might be light grey but it is not white.

Compair it to Classic Prowl or Untra Magnus and you'd be color blind if you cant see the difference

No offense Sabe

Truth be told the technique is used both ways.

Sometimes Blue is used as showing light on Black and some times Black is used to show contrast or shadow on Dark Blue.

I dont think you guys are going to find a definitive answer useing coloring technique's as a basses for debate.

Agreed. Here's a pic of starscream from transformersanimated.com Image

While there is purple highlighting it is just so you can make out one black area when it is in front of another black area and to bring out detail.

You can see in this picture he is facing the light source, so his arms are not in shadow, and they are still black.

Okay, can we just say that the traditional Starscream colors are red, blue, black, and a variation of white or gray?

He's sometimes white (G2, Armada, Energon Energon), and sometimes gray (RobotMasters, Cybertron, Movie, Animated). Sometimes it's not as easy to tell as others (G1, Universe). and sometimes he's neither white, nor gray (BWII, Machine Wars, Energon).

In fact, his Universe toy is very close to white. It's almost like a magnolia white. Almost.

I can agree with an "ALMOST WHITE" finding.

Even lite Grey can be considered "almost white" since the method of how its made "Lite" is by adding white to the mixture.[at least in painting]

Yeah, I just got the actual toy today, and after looking closely at it in good lighting, and comparing it to the color of a white piece of paper, there's hardly a difference between the paper's white and the figure's main color. But there is a difference, though it is a very slim one.

Although, I've noticed that during this whole "gray vs. white" debate that, while some of us have mentioned the different shades of gray, none of us have mentioned the different shades of white to back the "white" side of the argument. White has different shades too.

True enough...as in regards to the toys but with G1 Starscreams toon appearance he was always a very lite grey.

They were going for a "Silver" and "Metal" look for him.

And I just got the new Universe SS as well.

I still say very lite grey.I compared it to the Classic Ultra magnus in the classic line and I see a noticeable difference.

Well here's some Animated news for ya.

Three new animated shorts. The first one is available on the Season 2 DVD (along with another one). It is called "Starscream Heckles Megatron", and it is actually out of continuity with the cartoon. You may view it here.

The second and third were found on Youtube and come from origins unknown. You may view the first one here, and the other one here.

Also, Waspinator's toy bio and cartoon model revealed:

I said this about Waspinator on this thread:
Sabrblade wrote:I serious hope they get Scott McNeil to play this form of him. Keep Tom Kenny as the voice of his normal form seen in the middle of Autoboot Camp, and his insane form at the end of Autoboot Camp. But get Scott McNeil for this mutated form.

I said this about Waspinator on this thread:
Sabrblade wrote:I serious hope they get Scott McNeil to play this form of him. Keep Tom Kenny as the voice of his normal form seen in the middle of SUV, and his insane form at the end of SUV. But get Scott McNeil for this mutated form.

Cool

When has Venom ever been "primarily" blue?

Venom is usually drawn Black with blue and/or red vains. (the red might of just been there for the cartoon series) That's not lighting, that's just how his vains are colored.

Now if you wanna see how they typically light black. Take a look at the Batman animated series.

They really don't do much of anything for black except add a few little grey highlights.

Now blue, even in real life, under sertain lights can look black. Green can do the same. You really mean to tell me you never bought a shirt or something you thought was black when you had it in the store but then when you saw it in the sunlight realized it was a really dark blue or green?

Here's another great example. His costume looks black and red right? But why is the red so random? My original design was actully a completly red costume. The only truely black parts is the Yin Yang.
