MQ-9 Reaper wrote:I LOVE the new opening - I was wondering if they were ever going to have one. I kind of shy away from the thought of having a theme song with any lyrics, since I personally feel that the last couple of times they tried that it was....botchy. I'm no Geewunner, but unless it sticks really close to the original theme song, I don't really support the idea of one.

I actually really like the theme music for this series. Not a fan of the opening but the music is great.

MQ-9 Reaper wrote:For all of the guys out there who are crushin' on Arcee, I totally get it. I don't know, the TFP animation is somehow very sexy.

It's not the animation. I dunno, it's everything else. I like the fact that they made her into a typical soldier. Usually when they try to make action girl, (Not necessarily in Transformers, fiction in general) they end up trying to make the character too over-the-top, as if she needs to be tougher than everyone for the audience to take the character seriously. Arcee is just a soldier, who also happens to be female. Also, the sarcasm.

I love the sarcasm.

And at first, I didn't even like Arcee's design! It was so unrecognizable as her, I saw the cast picture and thought "hey, who's the blue chick?" And then she ended up being my favorite character, the first time an Arcee has ever managed that.

MQ-9 Reaper wrote:However, I am not a fan of slash, and that one scene in space where Starscream creepily and awkwardly looms over a half-dead Megatron for 60 seconds is REALLY gonna get the fangirls going. :-x

Earlier today, I was thinking how stupid Megatron/Starscream slash fics are. Then this episode happened.

SlyTF1 wrote:Where where Breakdown and Knockout? I never saw them.

They're confirmed to appear at some point or another. Breakdown is voiced by Adam "Hero of Canton" Baldwin, Knockout is voiced by Darran Norris.

SlyTF1 wrote:And the Eradicons are only drones.

Why does everyone keep saying that? As if being Drones suddenly means they don't exist? They're Decepticon Drones. That means they count as Decepticons.

Get this! As it turns out, the Eradicons are actually called "Vehicons" (according to a Hasbro Q&A with the TFCC).

Shadowman wrote:Didn't realize this thread was here. I'll just copy and paste the stuff from my thread--with extra notes and formatting--and let the mods do what they want with the thread proper.
Could it be possible to merge it with this one? (grated, your first post would probably have to be deleted since you just copied and pasted it into this thread)

Shadowman wrote:-So...what's up with Megatron? I didn't expect to see him back so soon, but I'm not certain he's even alive. There was a chunk of Dark Energon where his spark should be, and he showed characteristics of being a DE Zombie, but he wasn't glowing blue like them. And he's apparently alive, sans-Spark.
I couldn't tell, but it looked as though his spark was gone and the Dark Energon in him was keep him alive (barely). Apparently, he's alive enough to have been put safely into stasis at the episode's end.

BTW, the zombies are called "Terrorcons".

Though, I was never under the impression that Megatron was gonna die after that explosion. Other Megatrons of the past have come out of worse cases, so I figured this Megs would be no different.

Shadowman wrote:-Hey, Soundwave has Laserbeak. And he doesn't trust Starscream in the slightest. Also Laserbeak has no color, seems to be a theme among the Decepticon higher-ups.
Actually, that's just Soundwave's Deployer. We saw it back in episode 3 when it attacked and kidnapped Fowler.

It was designed in homage to Laserbeak, but is (deliberately) not confirmed to BE Laserbeak (besides, that design would do Laserbeak some serious injustice).

Shadowman wrote:-Speaking of, a bit more cyber-gore in the case of Bumblebee pulling bits out of Skyquake, though he was a jet at the time so the "gore" half is kind of lost. I couldn't help but think of that scene in Iron Man, where Tony pulls out bits of the Iron Monger saying "This looks important!"
Also the scene where Iron Man has a run in with the Air Force jets and he has to rip that one pilot's parachute out free.

Shadowman wrote:-What was Agent Fowler doing in a fighter jet? I'm trying to avoid the answer "because he's awesome" but that's the only one I can think of.
And what exactly is wrong with that? We don't need a legitimate reason for every little piece of awesomesauce. :MR-T: ;)

Shadowman wrote:-I like that the Eradicons can actually talk. Here's hoping they don't end up too silly like Battle Droids in Star Wars, but at least maintain a comical stupidity one would expect from cannon fodder.
Why am I the only one to ever bring up that they spoke and acted as individuals before in the Prime graphic novel? They may be foot-soldiers, but they aren't drones.

Shadowman wrote:-Is it just me or is Starscream afraid of Soundwave?
Soundwave sees you when you're sleeping... Soundwave sees you in your nightmares.

SlyTF1 wrote:Where where Breakdown and Knockout? I never saw them.
Knockout's coming later. As for Breakdown, we've already seen him in the Prime graphic novel:

SlyTF1 wrote:And the Eradicons are only drones.
NO! THEY! ARE! NOT!!!!!!

For sparks sake! They speak and act individuals with their own thoughts and personalities. They just aren't fleshed out as much as the main cast are! Just because they are foot-soldiers does not mean that they are mindless fodder! :BANG_HEAD:

While Vehicons are one of the concepts from beast Machines I actually liked, my problem is that they were mindless, Sparkless drones and, as you keep pointing out, Eradicons aren't.

Sabrblade wrote:BTW, the zombies are called "Terrorcons".

Yes. And any time you try to define them, you're just going to end up calling them Zombies. "Dead bodies brought back to life, turned into mindless, killing machines...so...yeah, Zombies." Miko even calls them Zombies.

Sabrblade wrote:Why am I the only one to ever bring up that they spoke and acted as individuals before in the Prime graphic novel? They may be foot-soldiers, but they aren't drones.

I haven't actually read the graphic novel yet. Probably should.

Sabrblade wrote:Though, I was never under the impression that Megatron was gonna die after that explosion. Other Megatrons of the past have come out of worse cases, so I figured this Megs would be no different.

I would have been seriously shocked if he had died. Though I did have an idea for a story where Megatron had already been declared dead and the Decepticons were lead by Starscream, Soundwave and Shockwave. But even then, Megatron still came back.

Sabrblade wrote:It was designed in homage to Laserbeak, but is (deliberately) not confirmed to BE Laserbeak (besides, that design would do Laserbeak some serious injustice).

So...how closely does Soundwave in Prime resemble Soundwave in any of Soundwave's other appearances?

Well, different world, different rules. These guys are Vehicons, yet they're not mindless.

I guess we was wrong about the whole "Eradicon" name. :-o

Shadowman wrote:I haven't actually read the graphic novel yet. Probably should.
Read it man. I give Cliffjumper enough time in the spotlight to forgive his short screentime in episode 1.

Also, it leads right into episode 1.

Shadowman wrote:I would have been seriously shocked if he had died. Though I did have an idea for a story where Megatron had already been declared dead and the Decepticons were lead by Starscream, Soundwave and Shockwave. But even then, Megatron still came back.
I think it's pretty much a given (yet unspoken) rule that Starscream will never be Decepticon leader officially (or in the case of the G1 movie, for no more than 22 seconds). ;)

Shadowman wrote:So...how closely does Soundwave in Prime resemble Soundwave in any of Soundwave's other appearances?
His head bears the iconic Soundwave shape. It just looks like someone stretched out his visor and pulled it over his whole face.

Not to mention all the blue on him.

Watched #6 again today. Did anyone else notice the lighting and effects (dust, level of detail, acting)? It's like during the break the animation took another leap forward from the first five. I'm really excited to see visually what's in store in future episodes. Story was great. Characters were sublime. That punch was awesome! And is it just me or does Optimus have a John Wayne swagger in his step?

Well, Peter Cullen's Optimus always did have that touch of John Wayne mixed with a bit of General George Patton in his voice (though, Cullen's primary original vocal inspiration was his older brother's voice, who was a Marine).

More fun facts: Transformers did a set of PSAs almost EXACTLY like the ones GI Joe did, right down to saying "Now we know!" "And knowing is half the battle!" at the end.

They had Aerialbots in WFC (Air Raid, Jetfire, and Silverbolt) and Exodus (any Autobot Seeker), so they do exist in the Prime continuity. What happened to them all, however, is what needs to be explained.

Also found the plot for Convoy Agent Fowler escorts a Bomb Device.

I Youtube'd and watched both Darkness Rising and the new episode the other day since I don't get the channel it's on to watch it there.

Skyquake was pure awesome. I really hope he comes back, because I hate when they pull the one-episode-character shenanigans.

Soundwave spying on Starscream was also awesome, and completely in his character to do so. I'm not seeing Laserbeak in his Deployer though, I get more of a Ratbat vibe from it.

One thing I hate about this show is that Starscream is a cry baby b!tch! I miss in Animated how he actually DID something about it! This Starscream just wants EVERYONE to bow to him for some reason! Optimus, Skyquake, the other Decepticons! It just...I don't know. I don't like this Starscream. Plus he wears high heels. Damnit.

Just downloaded and watched it, glad they cut the humans down to only 2-3 minutes of the show. Hopefully they won't make the show with too much human interaction or with too many human filler episodes.

Starscream 101: He's ALWAYS been an effeminate, whiny bitch who can't get anything done without someone else doing it for him. Every chance he gets, he declares himself leader of the Decepticons, and every time one of his coup attempts fails, he'll beg for mercy at the barrel of a Fusion Cannon.

And check again, even Animated was like this. The only reason Starscream was so persistent with his assassination attempts in that series was because the AllSpark shard made him immortal, so he wasn't afraid of being killed by Megatron anymore.

Just about the only Starscream who wasn't like this was Armada Starscream, who was more like Dinobot in a lot of ways.

Come to think of it, it would be rather cool if they visited all sorts of different nations as events progressed. In time, the populations might even grow enough to allow for terrain-specific mission groups to operate in different areas simultaneously. I'm curious about watching what the background and middle foreground artists will come up with, especially in jungle environments.

Energon Starscream was recreated by Alpha Q and tasked with the objective of assassinating both Optimus Prime and Megatron, whom Alpha Q view as threats to his plans. Optimus had a monopoly on energon, and Megatron had taken possession of Unicron's body; Alpha Q needed both of these order to complete his goal of resurrecting his home planets.

When Starscream began targeting Megatron, Megs took him captive, tortured him (both physically and psychologically), and used his "I WILL FORCE YOU TO BE A DECEPTICON!!!" powers that he had in this series on Starscream (he also used these powers on Scorponok and later Inferno). Starscream swore his undying allegiance to Megatron and, from then on, became one of Megatron's most dependable and competent lieutenants, even gaining Megatron's full trust of loyalty.

Unlike most other Starscreams (who would have taken advantage of this trust to overthrow Megatron), Starscream never wavered in loyalty, remaining a valued soldier to Megatron's cause through and through. Why, when Megatron had exposed himself to Super Energon and was upgraded to Galvatron, Starscream was the only other Decepticon to receive the same treatment, with Galvatron's permission to boot! Not to mention that Galvatron actually wanted him to do undergo the upgrade.

And in the finale, when Galvatron plunged himself into the Energon Sun to destroy the essence of Unicron inside him that was trying to overtake him from within, Starscream loyally followed his leader to the very end, sacrificing himself into the sun as well.

He was kinda Beast Wars Inferno and Animated Lugnut, minus all the comedy and craziness of those two. He was very stoic, always wearing a straight face and never joking around with the other Decepticons.

As for Cybertron Starscream, refer to what I wrote here.

Very detailed and intuitive, I never paid much attention to the Unicron Trilogy so finding that out about Starcream makes me want to check out the series as he sounds like a real good character.

I like her, too. A lot of people think she's annoying, but in my opinion she's no worse than Spike Witwicky. When I found out that the same chick who played Emma Lau/Dark Tamara on Aaron Stone voices her, I had a major 'duh' moment, since Miko greatly resembles her voice actress's former character in appearance. The hair, clothes, even the attitude are very similiar. Miko is definitely growing on me, and I actually find Jack's seriousness more irritating than anything else; although I like him too because his non-hyperactive personality as a protagonist is refreshing. Plus, he and Arcee are cute together (not necessarily in that way). Raf, however, is the most endearing, I think - because he's the youngest and has a mild personality. Blahblahblahblahblah. :P

Being the most loyal Starscream is like being the most sane man in the asylum. But then I stopped watching the Unicron Trilogy about five or so episodes into Energon.

I stopped watching Transformers all together after the first episode. But then 2007 happened.
I Am.
