Don't get used to me getting things :p

I didn't like it the first few times I saw it, but then my (now) 4 year old got hooked on it. So I started paying attention to it and found it's got a solid plot and they are trying hard to keep it consistent. Something that doesn't happen a whole lot in TF as we all know.
And now I like it. We sit down all together and watch the new episodes and enjoy it together (except hubby, he still dislikes it). And I've found a new autobot love in Chase... he cracks me up :)

I hope not.

Unfortunately,it seems so.

You have a source for that, or just presuming? I'm gonna wait for official word, personally.

...neither were Transformers.

All mediums of storytelling are created equal. I have the same validity to complain about the lack of wit in Breadwinners that I have to complain about a bad episode of Doctor Who. Age demographic isn't an excuse. One of my favorite articles about the "it's for kids" claim comes from the MLP Forums, but considering some of that pertains to another show specifically, I'd like to take out this powerful quote:

Dark Qiviut (MLP Forums) wrote:Whenever you use "it's just a kids'/little girls' show/*whoever audience*," then you're passively calling [...] every single product with an audience in mind inherently weak. Any product worth our time and money respects demographics across the board. Including periphery demographics! Products that do use this excuse are often to be complete garbage.

Even with that said, I've watched a enough of Rescue Bots (almost entirely from season 1) to know that this show was not created without an adult demographic in mind. This series is meant to be enjoyed by all ages. As such, I, or anyone else for that matter, can complain about the storytelling of Rescue Bots if they have a justifiable point of view. I've been waiting for Rescue Bots to pull something, not original, but unique enough to be interesting and have so far been disappointed. Regardless, I was still intending on trying the season three premiere and, like my post states, the synopsis sounds ridiculous.

For me, there's a line drawn between entertaining risibility and pure farcicality. The premise of this premiere seems to lean more toward being downright asinine.

So by that reasoning it would be perfectly accetable to let a kid watch American Horror Story.

And yes, Transformers was never intended for an adult audience, it was aimed at kids to sell kids toys.

Those kids grew up.

Transformers had to grow with them but also be able to relate to the kids, who are the primary target market for the toys.

American Horror Story is not the type of series that could be enjoyed all across the board to begin with, nevermind the maturity level. Even some of its age demographic wouldn't dare go anywhere near that genre. With that aside, adults are mature enough to watch, let-alone analyze, a cartoon. Young children usually don't achieve these skills until they're mature enough to handle the material. Much less would a parent allow their child to watch that in the first place.

Most importantly, the fact that American Horror Story is a show for adults doesn't excuse it from critique. You claim that because it's for kids, we as an older demographic should not analyze/complain about it. Does that mean that I, as a teenager, cannot break apart the storytelling of Breaking Bad because it is for adults? That's a pretty condescending statement to make.

Storytelling is an art. Whether it's a book, film, or TV series, the art exists to be criticized. Putting down someone who takes a passion in analyzing stories because it's not for their demographic is rather insulting. Avatar: The Last Airbender was for 7 year olds, but its writing challenges the sharpest of minds because the writers took an honest effort in creating something that everyone would enjoy.

And that's the reason Rescue Bots is disappointing. Yes, it's rated TV-Y. But how is it that My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has more competent characters and storytelling as well as a better way of conveying its morals than a show with the same key demographic? And by that, I don't refer to key demographic as children. I refer to key demographic as all ages, since both show's creators made their respective shows not for kids, but kids and their parents. That's where Rescue Bots fell flat for me. The concepts were clearly written to attract both audiences, but delivers the most elementary storytelling devices ever conceived. There's no excitement, no tension, not even the slightest form of uniqueness in anything it presents, to the point where you start to ask yourself why you should even bother to continue.

In short, "it's for kids" is a cop out. Mature shows are able to challenge their audience. Children's programming should be able to do the same, not just for the children it attracts first, but the adults craving a good story that might stumble upon it. That kind of attitude generalizes people and their interests. "Only these people can like A. And you shouldn't like B because you're supposed to like A." It's basically like saying "girls can't enjoy sports because they're for guys," or "white people shouldn't listen to rap because it's for black people."

And yes, Transformers was never intended for an adult audience, it was aimed at kids to sell kids toys.

Those kids grew up.

Well, sure. But by your logic, y'all should've grown out of Transformers by the time G2 came around. Why are you still here? :???:

Transformers had to grow with them but also be able to relate to the kids, who are the primary target market for the toys.

Toys are a different medium, as you can't exactly analyze a piece of plastic the same way you can the complexity of a story. However, that doesn't mean adults who collect them shouldn't angrily piss themselves when something like PRiD Airachnid is put out there.

Let me put it this way then.

I feel that age demographic IS an excuse. Seriously ... adults picking apart a cartoon that ties into a toy line clearly aimed at the kindy/pre-school market? No, that's not right.

But you feel otherwise.

And I'm okay with that. I don't agree with it.

Just don't force your logic onto my arguments. I'm too damn stubborn to budge.

And please don't twist my words out of context.

By clearly splitting my comment you twist it out of context.

But like I said, I still believe that critiquing a cartoon primarily aimed at, and linked to a toy line primarily intended for the kindy/pre-school market is pointless. Don't bother trying to tell me otherwise, but got right ahead if you really truly insist, it won't make a damn difference to me.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go enjoy Rescue Bots and their fun little figures in my little sandbox.

Let me take you back to the 70's... The Muppet Show. A show geared towards kids but was the first to have an appeal to adults.

The argument that it (Rescue Bots) should not be critiqued as a child's show is a bit off. It is made for children. But as they discovered with the success of the Muppet Show, putting in content to appeal to adults is vital.

Parents actually do watch children's shows with their kids. And the networks/creators/writers know this. Parents are more willing to buy the toys for the kids if they like the show too. I will be honest, we have a tendency towards Chase around here because I like the character (even though the 4 year old is playing with Heatwave and Blades right now).
Parents don't necessarily take more interest in what their kids are watching these days, just that those airing the shows are more aware that the parents are there.
So things are put in to the shows to appeal to the parent.

Basically, advertisers work like this, and in the case of the Transformers, Hasbro is an advertiser (they make shows to sell their toys).

Children don't have money spend. Period. They can't go out and get a job and earn money. Their parents have the money.

The way it used to go was they had to convince the kids to convince their parents to buy them toys. Now it's a little more passive aggressive. They convince the parents they want to buy the toys and the kids bug the heck out of their parents (until you break down and tell them that they have to behave for the rest of the week and maybe you will get them a toy but secretly you want to get it regardless because they just came out with a new cool looking one that you intend to play with when the kids go to bed)until they get the kid the toy.

Very long explanation to get to the point that yes, it is a kids show. Otherwise we'd have more toys with a less simplistic transformation process. And why all the toys are in the Playschool line and not the older children's line.
Preschool geared things are almost sacred, they are held to an entirely different standard because they are in the key developmental stage for learning for children. So no, you can't critique a preschool show as you would other shows. Anything adult in those shows are purely for ratings/sales

If we were talking about any of the other Transformers cartoon (besides G1, because that was the 80's and it was weird back then.)then I would say that yes, those shows are for adults and children. They're adult shows made more kid friendly (appeal to the widest demographic possible and yet again, adults have income, 12 year olds don't). But preschool is preschool. They are made for kids and to be less annoying to adults.

(yeah again, early childhood ed meets broadcasting meets mom of two boys... who happened to love Transformers in the 80's)

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D Anyway, yes,OP was hunted by lord Chumley in that episode.By the way, what happened to the rescan upgrades?(The monster truck OP and Motorcycle BB) Will they appear in the show?

i think this season is going to be about autobots becoming Dino bots and mainly helping townsfolk.

What's with all the multiple posting?

Also, Decepticons are the LAST thing this show needs. [-(

firstly, you can never be sure if your post went through to the forums or not and secondly, i understand you completely. this show is aimed at younger audiences but i just want some decepticons being in the show in some way. not in a violent way but in a way that makes them seem like the other villians in the show. nuff said :BOT:.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, the :CON: shows up on the sewer pipe walls in the shrink ray episode. ;)

I for one do NOT want to see Cons. I like Cons, I like the idea of the Rescue Bots having to protect Griffin Rock from Cons, but the story isn't geared that way. Cons are violent, messy, sneaky things and I doubt the rescue Bots have much actual Combat training. Sure, Heatwave beats up on a cactus a lot, But I have a sneaky suspicion even the Vehicons would be too much for the gang. I'd rather see the human villains, like Silas (although as Sabr has pointed out before, chronologically we've reached the point where Prime razed the roof on Silas...). Actually, what I'd like to see is more Rescue Bots. I think this would be a great way for Hasbro to refresh the trademarks on Hot Spot, re-introduce the ProtectoBots (Minus Blades, but you could always use Flyup) as another Rescue Team, or possib;y THE rescue Team. With Hot Spot as the Director of Operations or something. Slap the Defensor name on a starship if you want to avoid combiners.

If Optimus has a beast mode wouldn't that been taken notice by both the :BOT: and :CON: in season 3 Of TF PRIME ? Or... he gets rid of it near the end of S2 of Prime before he temporarily goes offline

It's probably temporary and when it's all over he rescans a semi truck and goes back to the Prime we all know and love.
