You do realize when they do end it they're just going to replace it with something similar, right? Hasbro's current model is to have three different lines going simultaneously with distinct, albeit overlapping, demographics. And then there's the movies in between that replaces all of the simplified cartoon toys with simplified movie toys. These things are never going away and will always be on the shelves as part of one line or another.

Yup, what Emerge said, plus Hasbro has made it pretty clear ever since G2 when the line practically died that the only way they get to ascertain that the brand remains in the public eye is to constantly have a media project backing it up for their core audience, which is 5-9 year olds. You cant get returning fans without getting some new fans in the first place.

Looks like confirmation to me.

At the very least RID is ending with a movie.
The only confirmation in that news they cited is that "Season 2 will be 16 episodes long with a movie to finish it." There is nothing in the news they link to that says "Season 2 is the final season and will end the RID cartoon for good."

Comparing this "shorter season plus a movie" format to Prime season 3 an Predacons Rising is poor form since Prime season 3 was already done and over with by the time Predacons Rising was even conceived. Preds Rising was not in any of the plans for season 3. It came along after the fact. This new movie, however, is slated to be the conclusion of RID season 2 before that season has even begun airing, meaning that this movie was planned much farther ahead of schedule when compared to how Preds Rising was created as an afterthought.

And I repeat, there has been NO official word of RID ending with season 2. All we know for sure is that season 2 is shorter and has a movie coming at the end of the season. Know what other Hasbro Studios cartoon did that and is still ongoing? My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Its usual season length is 26 episodes, but its third season was only 13 episodes and had the first Equestria Girls movie come after it before the 26-episode fourth season, which in turn was followed by the second Equastria Girls movie, and then the 26-episode fifth season (with the third Equestria Girls movie coming during season 5 instead of after). Therefore, a movie coming after a show's season does not automatically mean that the whole show is ending for good.

Besides, Wormer very clearly Tweeted the following in a comment below his original Tweet:
just starting up and it's looking to be a realllllllly fun season!
He has to be working on a new season since all of the storyboarding for season 2 and its movie would be long since done by now.

Regardless even if there is a third season I'm still going to take this with a grain of salt I don't think RID is going to have as good sales as Prime but that's just me.

DVDs are sold after the facts though so I dont think they can be real determinants. The only determenant for TV is viewer rate (neilsen rating).

Yeah toys and merchandise in general I'm in no way saying that there are bad sales but I see a lot more rid on shelves then I ever saw Prime on shelves.

I'm just saying that sales are not possibly as good as Prime or a movie year.

We cant base it on that this time. Waves in RID repeat older toys. The latest wave has more steeljaws. So if you see a bunch of steeljaws, it doesnt mean for sure that its the same from last year but it could be that your store got the latest wave and the newer figures sold out because collector found them.

Popularity for these toys is thus impossible to judge this time since no one can guarantee that those are the very same toys they see each time and not new stock.

I know this is just my own old man/jaded opinion, but it seems, ever since 2011, CN has dedicated themselves to providing only comedy based series. Any series that presented a sense of action and/or drama was canceled, many in a very undignified, and unsubstantiated fashion. Also, my jaded opinion is that pretty much all of these comedies suck. Thus when news of RiD15 being on CN was first announced, my perception was that it would not last long. The fact that it made it through its first season (26) episodes pretty much unhindered is nothing short of a miracle. Though If I understand correctly it has the typical worst time slot possible (I watch it online, so I really cant say, but its what I've heard). What boggles my mind though, is the logic that an action cartoon has to make a ton of money in toy sales to justify its existence. I mean I don't exactly see tons of Uncle Grandpa, Adventure Time, Teen Titans Go!, World of Gumball etc.. toys or merchandise being sold.

I have 2 kids. They love action series, are they an exception to the norm?. I mean... has there truly been a shift in the dynamic of kids today, that they only want stupid comedies, and that action cartoons are not in demand, or is that what CN just wants people to think?

IN any case, despite the seeming lack of evidence at this time, based on the recent history of CN, I do strongly believe the 2nd season of RiD15 will be its last. I have said this many times, but I am never to proud to happily admit if I am wrong, but CN recent history has killed so many great action series. Unless something changes within the senior management of CN, or perhaps the series goes over to Discovery Family, where it should have been in the first place (neither scenario I really see happening) I see very little prospects of RiD15 to go beyond season 2. And trust me... as someone who likes consistency, this saddens me. It is my ongoing torture being tied to the Transformers brand. Wanting an animated series with a long life, and never getting it because of the industries formula of rebranding the series every few years.

Yes definitely excited. especially since after 2 single disc DVD releases, I thought they might just keep cranking these out ala Rescue Bots with no season sets. The only thing that prevents me from pre-ordering is waiting to see if they have a Blu Ray release planned. If no news is released in the coming weeks, then I'll definitely settle for the DVD set.

Have there been blu-ray releases for previous titles from Shout! before?

Yes All 3 seasons of Transformers Prime & the film Predacons Rising are all on Blu Ray, they look beautiful!

Additionally G.I. Joe Renegades and I *think* some of the MLP films are on Blu Ray also.

Then I'd say wait, or buy it when it's on sale the first week at target and return it if the blu-ray announcement comes through;

On an unrelated note, wonder if the BW show would look nice on blu-ray :-?

Note sure... Not many TV shows prior to the HD era are being released on Blu Ray (The various Star Trek series are some that come to mind), but they usually require some extensive digital reworking and preservation. Although what Mainframe was producing in the mid-90's to early 2000's was ground breaking, I'm not sure how well it would look in HD (would it look better, or only highlight the flaws in the early CG that we may not notice now??)

I also guess it depends on the quality of the master prints that S!F has. I know they have released Beast Wars a couple of times on DVD. I still have the original Rhino releases, so I don't cant say if the S!F ones are any better, or pretty much the same, just repackaged.

Not sure, I have both, but never compared. Doesn't matter I s'pose; Think I might grab this set, not sure though, for as great as the new :CON:'s are, there's alotta dumb fluff in the show, that's not even counting the irritating new human and his dumb cosplay gimmick; might re-watch it first :-?

They're probably waiting to see how the DVD does before considering Blu-Ray for this one. Prime's audience not only skewed a bit older, but the show really benefits from HD as well. That made a Blu-Ray release kind of a no brainer.

Kids won't care about 480p vs 1080p, so it makes sense to keep the cost down on this series by just going the DVD route for now.

On another note, I'm very glad they announced this before the episode 6-10 single disc released. Saves a little bit of dough on that one.

Agreed. And although for example- MLP has a huge adult cult following, it may not be quite enough to justify Blu Ray sets of the regular TV show, as opposed to the telefilms. I agree that RiD15 would probably not benefit nearly as much from Blu Ray as Prime does, but the only reason I am holding out is if they are doing both at the same time (or roughly within the same time frame), I will obviously go with the Blu Ray. If not, then the DVD is just fine. I have managed in *most* cases to stick to my guns and not frivolously double-dip for Blu Rays that I already have DVD's of.

Wow, that it some generically-boring-looking DVD artwork. Just the same stock photo of Bee we saw when the show was first announced. >:oP

Shout Factory doesn't really put alot of energy into packaging design.

Their G1 and Beast Wars DVD set artworks looked pretty good, with the G1 sets having all new art while the Beast Wars art was creatively arranged Mainframe art. And their Beast Machines DVD art looked stunningly gorgeous.
