Assuming you don't count Cliffjumper. Mind you, being dead is a good reason not to count him.

Remember how RiD started and Optimus Prime was dead?

It's Optimus he never stays dead.

Cliffjumper on the other hand will likely never be in another tf show.

That would suck for Cliffjumper, but it'd be hard to beat his Prime incarnation for me. I miss Autobot Dwayne Johnson.

IIRC, Cyberverse is supposed to be a new continuity, so I don't see what would stop them from putting in a new Cliffjumper if they wanted.

I doubt it because the only characters that show up are Optimus, Bumblebee, Ratchet, Arcee and maybe a couple of originals like Strongarm which is fine but we probably won't get originality.

It's part of why I like Rid a whole lot more then Prime even if they weren't always used to full potential there are many original character ideas and concepts.

Take Blastwave for example he only shows for one episode and isn't even the main character in it but his concept is pretty cool, an Autobot bounty hunter who turns into a tank but is unable to speak so he instead communicates in sign language he is also pretty monstrous looking for an Autobot which is part of the whole don't judge by appearance going on with him.

Image

Or how about RoughEdge who while isn't a main character or anything he is also an Autobot (former?) bounty hunter who works for Starscream with other bounty hunters which makes him unique and not the standard Autobot traitor character which now that I think about hasn't happened since Armada Wheeljack and Animated Wasp so it would be refreshing to see either archtype.

He also uses Rid's generic Autobot design but modified colors which while a little lazy could open possibilities about generic cannon fodder becoming individual characters of their own right like say the Clone troopers from Star Wars Clone wars.

Image

More original characters like them would be cool...would also love to see Autotroopers both to look cool and be crowd fillers but also give the Decepticons things to kill and beat up.

Btw speaking of Cyberverse...are you sure that they can use that title? coz won't some people get confused into thinking..."ah...right...are they bringing those things out again?(if not for the new show...at least for the toyline)

Yep, one of those one-shot filler episodes. It's only connection to the rest of the big story was to wrap up the fate of Steeljaws crew.

Wasn't a great episode, but not as painful as some recent ones.

It helps that gymbro Underbite is such an endearing character.

For me what helped is that Sideswipe and Strongarm are actually acting as a team instead of bickering 24/7.

So I still haven't caught up from "The Great Divide", but since I don't care about spoilers any more, I've just recently heard that the Combiner arc and Soundwave arc have both been dropped abruptly before the season's conclusion in favor of more Steeljaw shite from season one.

The Pack's return episode was actually pretty shockingly amazing (at least, the first half of it). Soundwave's thing was still going on at the same time, though.

Also, there's still one more ongoing plot yet to be concluded that seems to be being saved till to the very end of the season: The Benefactors.

I see.

I mean, I'm gonna catch up eventually when I don't have more important things to do, but even with this as a given, this season looks like it's amounting to what the first half of the second season of Prime was. A bunch of plot threads are being built up and up only to be dropped because they're running out of episodes and, let's be honest, probably money too.

Brace yourselves, I'm going to say something positive about this show.

It's something that's been overshadowed by the crap story telling. And thanks to a Facebook post on The Transformers Hub, it opened my eyes to a particular character.

Denny Clay.

For the most part, he's been the comedic relief. But take a closer look at him, especially in these last few episodes.

He's just had his home destroyed, and yet he continues to support the Autobots, knowing all too well it was their presence in his scrap yard that brought the destruction.

In fact, you could even see how it was actually starting to get to him as he got a bit tougher with Rusty.

He's funny, but determined, he fights for what's right, but the big thing ... he's there for his son.

A single father, busting his arse to raise his son. I'm ashamed I never saw this aspect of the series until now, I've allowed myself to get so caught up in the Autobot/Decepticon crap that I never paid attention to this character who may very well be the best human character we've gotten.

:BANG_HEAD:

Thing about this season, and they've been building this really since the end of season 2, it's all going to come back to what's going on on Cybertron. Having just caught up a little bit myself, I understand and fully agree that these threads were all wrapped up a little too quickly in a little too disconnectedly from each other so you kind of lose that illusion, but what was going on on Cybertron was working for Soundwave. Now we have the Pack, working for Soundwave or at the very least the people on Cybertron who were also responsible for kicking ratchet out, and supposedly have been keeping Prime busy doing who knows what since characters on that are kind of sort of just go off and disappear. It's all supposed to be connected though and I'm hoping that it comes together in a nice little bow.

I'm with you there. For all his silliness, Denny's been very good at trying his best to be there for his son while also running a business (which just got scrapped) and helping their giant alien friends fight the good fight.

A standout fatherly moment for him that calls to my mind was back in the second episode of this season when Russell was having difficulty playing football against that one really tall kid. Though the solution was so simplistically eye-rolling ("just kick the ball higher"), the father-son talk Denny gave Russell really hit home for a lot of people:

Denny: "Why'd you lie?"
Russell: "If I go out there, I'm just going to hurt the team and make myself look silly."
Denny: "You'll hurt them more if you don't even try."
Russell: "But I did try."
Denny: "You know, I was a good student when I was your age. Made all A's. But then, I got a D. It floored me. For a long time after that, I didn't think I could ever get an A again."
Russell: "So you quit school and started a successful business selling vintage stuff?"
Denny: "Nnnnnoooo. I realized, that if I quit then, I could find a reason to quit anything for the rest of my life, and I didn't wanna do that. So I went back, figured out what I was doing wrong, and worked at it. Hard. I started getting A's again. And after I graduated, then I started a successful business selling vintage stuff. ;) "

Between Denny on this show and both Chief Burns and Doc Greene on Rescue Bots, we really do live in an age of good father characters--good single father characters, no less--getting their time to shine in the Transformers cartoons.

I'd definitely agree -- Denny and Russel are pretty good characters, if a tad annoying at times. The problem is that for pretty much this entire season, they've been overshadowed and shoved to the side. In a lot of episodes it feels like they're only there because the writers remembered they existed at the last second and had to do something with them. Which... again, is a shame, since they are likeable.
