(I'm not sure if anything here counts as spoilers, but I've added spoiler tags just in case)

Looking through the list of new Pokemon now Sun and Moon are out, some of the evolution methods do annoy me a bit. I don't like how Charjabug and Crabrawler can only evolve when levelled up in certain locations on the last island in the game before you face the Elite Four. If these locations were on the third island it wouldn't be so bad, but if you want Vikavolt (like I did) or Crabominable you have to wait until the main story is almost over. I think they missed a trick not having Crabrawler evolve with the new Ice Stone that evolves Alolan Sandshrew and Vulpix.

Speaking of which, I've been toying with new team combinations for Moon ahead of getting the game, I still want to use Incineroar as my starter, with Wishiwashi, Oranguru and Mudsdale. I wasn't planning on using Pikipek's final evolution Toucannon, but I'm impressed by its high base Attack so I might end up putting it on my team, especially considering most of the Pokemon I want to use in Moon aren't available until the second island. I also can't decide between Lurantis and Grass-type Nicki Minaj Tsareena, because they both seem decent.

I wouldn't call gameplay mechanics or specific Pokemon to be spoilers. I only really spoiler-tagged the Alola Elite Four since, while it is mentioned to be a thing well ahead of actually going there, with the massive overhaul of how the game progresses in general, it could be considered a twist that the Elite Four remains unchanged.

I recently finished my first play-through of Moon, overall not a bad game at all, though I didn't like it as much as X and Y. My team was Incineroar, Lurantis, Mudsdale, Wishiwashi, Oranguru and Jolteon. It wasn't a bad team, but I ended up not having coverage for a lot of types and Oranguru is unfortunately a bit weak for my liking. I really wanted to use Alolan Ninetales, but it's exclusive to Sun.
I also don't like how lengthy some of the cutscenes are, for instance there's a long cutscene introducing Hala before you get your starter. The long cutscene in X and Y introducing Tierno and Trevor right before you get your starter annoyed me, because you need to sit through it again and again if you're trying to get a certain nature that doesn't mess with your starter's stats, and Sun and Moon has done that again. Not to mention your first visit to the Aether Foundation is almost entirely long cutscenes with only a couple of opportunities to save, and the final cutscene after you become the Champion may as well have been an episode of the Pokemon anime it dragged on for so long.
Nevertheless I liked Moon, and I plan to get Sun after my next pay day.

So, good news, the Bank has finally been updated with support for Sun and Moon, as well as the Virtual Console Gen1 games!

Bad news, the National Pokedex has been implemented in the most haphazard way possible. It's not even in the Gen7 games proper, it's in the Bank. You go in there, load a save, and you can update the National Pokedex with all the Pokemon you've sent through the Bank. Seems fine...until you find out there's no Gen7 Pokedex entries for anything that can't be caught in Sun and Moon. (You want to see what the RotomDex has to say about Rotom itself? Too bad!) Maybe they'll patch the National Pokedex into the games properly, but so far it's really baffling why they've done it the way they have.

I think it's so that the task of completing the Pokédex in Sun/Moon isn't so daunting. Only needing 300 seems an achievable goal - 800? That's a pretty lofty number.

I'm just frustrated by the continued lack of half the Mega Stones.

Great, so I have to sign up for a battle competition (that I don't even want to participate in to begin with) to get a necessary item that should have been built into the game to begin with (or as least built into pokebank as a gift  ), yet we're stuck with that pos festival plaza that takes up way too much space on the card :BANG_HEAD:

To heck with the Mewnium, they should have just given us the rest of the Mega Stones as a Bank event.

I think I've been more disappointed with Pokemon over the last week than I have over the past 20 years.

That basically summarizes my feelings towards these games since I've gotten them. They did a lot of cool things, but the story was forced (as in it keeps forcing you through it, you have no player agency), the characters all sucked, it was hard as balls to actually find/catch/evolve all of the new pokemon, there's no way to power level or grind for money, triple battles (the only format I liked) are just gone, and what is up with gutting mega stones and the o-powers? You know, the only things every player actually used and wanted carried over to the next gen

I keep trying to psyche myself up enough to get Sun for the exclusive pokemon, but I'm continually reminded that this game sucks d|ck and that I should just replay a good pokemon game like X where playing the game actually came first >:oP

Well, since I'm currently on Spring Break and I have nothing to do, I decided to waste my evening trying to SOS chain for a 6IV Riolu. I guess my Pokémon Sun felt bad for me having to chain for 2 or 3 sessions for a combined total of 3+ hours, so it gave me some compensation:

WOOHOO!!!!!!!!

He's got 4IVs (HP, SpA, SpDef, and Def) and a Naive nature (wasn't what I was hoping for, but Lucario was never a SpDef prodigy anyway). Can't wait to get a Lucarionite and wreck faces with a Shiny Mega Lucario!! :KREMZEEK:  :KREMZEEK:  :KREMZEEK:

So for anyone who hasn't heard, Pokemon Stars is getting the same treatment as Pokemon Z: it's not happening and Nintendo never said that it was, and people who can't tell the difference between "rumor" and "confirmation" are throwing big ol' salty hissy fits. Instead we're getting sequels, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon on 3DS, not Switch. Which is fine by me, it means I get to play another set of Pokemon games without having to drop $300 on a new system.

Mostly I've seen people salty about it not being DP remakes. Which like Stars, was never promised to them by anyone but themselves in their heads but they're still getting pissy. Love the Pokémon fandom.

We're actually not sure yet what USUM are going to be. Could be sequels, could be a third version split in two, could be alternate universe shenanigans or something completely different altogether. I'm betting on (and hoping) they're sequels like BW2, but we just don't have enough information at the moment. Let's wait on corocoro and E3.

I feel like Platinum was one of the best in the franchise and I feel like they could do better by saving the DPP remakes for Gen8. I wouldn't complain if it they were to show up in Gen7, but I'd be content if they skipped a generation again (Like they did with Gen5) and held them back until they had newer, fancier tech to do them up even better.

Platinum's a personal favourite of mine so I'm really holding out for remakes too - especially as a large amount of Gen 4's problems come from the engine they were using (the game being very slow in general, especially in battles). But I'm happy to wait and I'm certainly not going to get angry when the next Pokémon game announced isn't what I was specifically wishing for. This really stupid attitude of "hate on something not for its merits but because it's not what I wanted" got me to reflect a bit on our own Transformers fandom, actually...

That's pretty much how I'm feeling about this. Would I have liked DP remakes better? Probably. Am I angry/disappointed? Heck no, I'm excited for US/UM.

Pearl and diamond sucked and outside of a few great pokemon offered nothing worth revisitng.

Sun and moon sucked hard too, as far as I'm concerned, US/UM can't get here fast enough >:oP
