Never had any pretenders growing up, though I did have that Bumblebee inner robot my Gtanpa picked up for me at a flea market at one time. If I ever pick up a classic pretender, it'll be him. I had the original G1 Bumblebee and played with him so much he fell apart. Love that character. Damnit Bodrock, your making my itch to collect worse.

If you don't mind the random missing accessory, you can get yourself a few nice pretenders for relatively cheap. The classic ones are the cheapest so you may try to get one or two complete. Bumblebee is definitely the BEST Classic Pretender. The inner robot could easily have been the original Bumblebee toy. So much better by himslef than the minibot original IMO.
Acesmcgee wrote:So, I was explaining the pretenders to my daughter after she asked if the prime masters where like the titan masters, meaning based on an older toy idea. After my talk with her she gets a thoughtful look on her face and says "Do you think Mr. Peanut is a pretender shell?" I just hugged her, because that innocent thought makes such a great joke on so many levels.

I'm the opposite. I guess because I had the Mini-bot first, but I always felt there was something off with Pretender Bumblebee.
He's a figure though that could have been awesome if they'd had ball joints back then though.
Acesmcgee wrote:I used to pretend that pretender Bee was his off-road form, and until the MP version, my favorite was G2 Bee, I loved the shiny gold chrome. The only reason the MP version is not in my collection is I'm trying to only get the original versions of the character for that collection.

Still, the build of the toy itself is pretty flimsy and can break easily..... based on my possibly KO keychain version that is.
