I'm sad to say I'm starting to find it a bit stale. I loved the 1st 2 seasons, and even the beginning of the 3rd season. But the new episodes just aren't doing it for me for some reason. I wish they would have kept the story on the core characters, instead of going off and putting The Governor and his town in there. Kinda reminds me a bit of Jericho. That was a really good show. I just wish this show would have more zombie altercations and move the story of how and why this happened forward.

Ironically, more zombies would probably make it a bit more enjoyable it seems to be dragged down by all the dram. Where's the suspense? The action? Maybe even conspiracy. It feels like I'm watching a soap opera. I have a much better program for that. It's called Dallas.

here that's a thought, JR could come back as a zombie, in The Walking Dead, a CG one, it would have to be

And reminded me as to why I shouldn't come to like ANY character on this show because you just know at some point they'll probably end up dead.

I agree.

I understand they can't just follow the comic exactly due to it not really having much of a surprise factor, but this business with Governor, he's starting to look like a pussy, Andrea I want to die horribly and Rick's craziness, well, I don't find it believable. It seems forced and as if its a side note.

They needed to build it slowly. The introduction of the new group also seemed to convienant.

There needs to be a good cull and focus carefully on the main characters, not keep introducing more and altering others.

Though Axel's death really surprised me. I was inwardly hoping he'd turn out to be nasty. like the fella in the comics who decapitated Hersle's twins, they could have had him kill off that blond girl.

SPOILERS FOR LAST TWO EPISODES IN THIS POST.

Genuinely surprised that there hasn't been more discussion about the strongest season of Walking Dead so far.

Merle's redemption arc was wonderfully done, if not a little bit too 'talky' for my tastes though it worked because it was presented as Merle almost talking himself into it. Who knew that the Governor was so able when it came to close combat?

The season finale was a massive disappointment for me. The attack on the prison was disjointed and a massive anti climax which resulted in the Woodbury contingent's eventual slaughter by the Governor himself. I know that this served as a plot device to signal the Governor's final descent into insanity yet it simply didn't sit right with me. Despite everything that has happened to him so far, the Governor has always had a measure of self control which was just cast aside in five seconds.

It'll be interesting to see where they go in the next season. There's a number of character arcs that I'll be interested in seeing such as Carl's own slightly psychopathic tendencies, the Governor's fate, Daryl dealing with Merle's death and many more besides. Despite the finale, this has probably been the best season of the Walking Dead so far.

Can't wait for more!

I am wondering what next season will hold..
My speculations..

Rick will have some issues with woodbury residents and they will somewhat "let their guard down".
The governor will somehow raise a new army and attack the prison by mid season killing all of the woodbury residents and most of Ricks group then will be killed himself.
Rick and Carl escape and somehow find Abraham.

Que mid season finale

Beginning of second part will be the trek to Washington with the season ending as the group arrives at Alexandra.

That makes sense to me.

Agreed.

I was thinking that given the popularity this show is gaining that they'd have the dosh to do an all out, well executed battle. It honestly just felt like a side thought, disorganised and out of character for the Gov. I appreciate his crazy, but it has to be level headed and revenge focussed without some sort of slobbering lunancy.

To be honest, I was hoping Andrea would be tortured longer, that we'd see more of that; not for the sake of torture, but more for the sake of "look at Gov, isn't he nice and brave and helping us Woodbury citizens... but we don't know he's actually a monster".

I'm wondering, given his fight with Merl and the zombies, that maybe they'll pin him more as some kind of lone wolf shadowy figure who swoops in and ninjas people to death.

The rest of the Woodbury people, I think they just let them into the prison so they can spend next season with a majority of time on the "they eating too much, they too old, they useless, lets kick them out" moral delimmas.

I love the comics because it focusses on the morality of humanity, human action and nature within the context of a zombie apocalypse. But it seems to be something they're having difficulty translating to the screen on occasion. Dialogue seems forced, characters change too abruptly without adequate backstory. They chop and change characters as if they're only after the shock factor and to remind everyone there's zombies and crazies.

Looking forward to season 4 though.

So yeah, legitimately disappointed that none of you have posted about the new series of the Walking Dead yet.

What do we think so far?

Coming from you.

Besides, Carl seems to have leveled out slightly this season. It's Carol and Tyreese who are going mental.

I'm not convinced Carol did it, I think she might be covering for someone.

Nah, her angry fight with the barrel of water before admitting it to Rick suggests that she was responsible.

Not gonna lie, I loved these last 2 episodes. All Governor all the time! My only complaint is that I feel that his transition from bad to good and then back to bad was far too abrupt. I feel like they should have cut down the storyline of the first episode so they could show his transition back to evil with a greater crescendo

The Governor's a favorite of mine, but these last two episodes were so infuriatingly slow. I agree the Governor's face-heel turn went by a bit quickly, but given how much the pacing of these episodes dragged (the former more so than the latter). I also didn't much care for Lily's characterization, and find the whole new family flat.

But then again, the thought of the Governor standing on a tank left me eagerly anticipating this week's episode, so I guess it evens out.

I've begun rewatching S3 on DVD, got it Black Friday for cheap and the scene in S4 where they are hitting golf balls beckons back to what the Governor did as leader. I missed that nod during first viewing of the S4 episodes where his former stooge was now leading and hitting the golf balls now.

I watched all of season 3 in 2 days on Netflix. Much easier watch than on TV week by week. I wanted to watch the new season, but I work on Sunday nights, so i just decided to wait until it's over and watch it all at once again. Bad thing is, I can't avoid spoilers.

Anyone want to speculate on what happens next? I'm not sure what to expect at all, now that the bus group is one place, and others are scattered... And the whole car seat thing is a big open ended question. I don't know what to expect next, but I sure am excited for it to start up again in February. At least the seasons are split, unlike Sons of Anarchy that just has super short seasons.

I expect Carol to come back at some point, there's no way we've seen the last of her. I don't think Judith is dead since they never showed it happen. Plus there's the mystery of the rat mutilator.

Comic spoiler!!!I know Abraham and Eugene are going to show up, so I think they'll regroup and make their to Alexandria which is probably where the season will end.

So far I think season 4 is the best one yet, I hope it keeps up for the second half.

I'm sure Carol will be back, no way did she just disappear into nothing. Judith, I agree. I think they'll find her alive, I imagine someone bloody just got her out. Rat mutilator, I think is the one little girl.... The one who was naming Walkers that I can't remember her name. Or maybe her sister. But I think it'll be something in the next season. I'm super excited for the rest of this season!!!!

Spoiler Warning

I thought Carol's re-introduction was a little predictable and unrealistic. I know we're talking about a series dealing with zombies but what I like most about the Walking Dead is that it tries to work within the realms of possibility, at least in a social context. Carol being left who-knows-how-many miles away from the prison only to magically appear five episodes later in the woods, when two children are about to be attacked, was a little far-fetched for me.

This aside, I've really enjoyed the first two episodes. The first episode was interesting in character development for Carl, who is starting to realize that he isn't as strong as he thinks he is. Perhaps this will signal the start of a more positive personality change for the mini-psychopath. There was also some welcome backstory for Michonne which I hope will be developed further this series.

I was also wondering what happened to the cop who was part of the Governor's group - I was hoping that she hadn't been forgotten about or killed as an afterthought of the battle at the prison. I'm glad that she seems to have been given an opportunity to join the group as I quite like her sassy style - the series needs another strong female character other than Maggie, who seems to have regressed into a 'I NEED MY MAN' type.

Stoked for the next episode too - who are the new folks!?

They're from the comic. Abraham, Eugene, and Rosita
Does anyone else think Lizzie and Mika are going to become the show's equivalent of Ben and Billy?
