Whilst browsing the Toy Galleries for new additions, I came across this fella, Energon Roadblock!
Now I was thinking maybe this guy could make a good stand-in for Pyro (or was Roadblock actually a member himself?) for a Neo-Classics Wreckers line-up? :-?

Despite the name, he's more of a Grapple homage. There's nobody named Roadblock who isn't either a Decepticon Pretender or a Decepticon Auto Roller.

He'd make a decent Pyro with a different color scheme. I feel like he'd be more...Roadbuster-ish, if you combined him with himself. :P

Seriously, I completely don't get the joke. xD

So my stand-in for my Neo-Classics line-up of The Wreckers arrived a few days ago...
Image
Human Alliance - Sandstorm!

Very nice he is too! I like the fact that hes still to a lesser extent a triple changer, although I wont be using the 'weapons mode' as I will keep him in robot mode.
Hes a great size, fitting in rather well with current deluxes, nicely articulated too. A worthy soldier for hit-squad! ;)
He might need a touch of paint here or there, just to highlight which character he actually represents a little better?

Sorry for the delay in getting my own pics up, been a tad busy recently!

But check this out for a potential Wreckers Sandstorm stand-in...
*Pic snipped*
I think he would sit quite well in a Scout/Deluxe Class line-up?
Whatcha think..? ;)

;) Thanks to Robot Kingdom for the pic ;)

I was planning on using him for the Starseeker instead...

Nice!

How does everyone feel about ROTF tomahawk as Rotorstorm? the colors are all wrong but i feel like that mold makes a perfect Rotorstorm. apologies if someone has mentioned this before.

I think Tomahawk could make a cool Rotorstorm with a few paint apps here and there! Go for it!

I am going to use DotM Skyhammer as my stand-in for Rotorstorm for the moment.

I still have a whole buch of recent-ish Classics/Generations to open and dispaly/photgraph for my line-up of Neo-Classics The Wreckers but will get to it shortly and a few loose ones in storage too!!

Behold, my Rack n Ruin custom commission nears completion - all it needs are the heads, weapons, and spikes added to the rollbar. Oh yeah, and some paint. I can't wait to have this twin on my shelf.
I love the connector design the customizer came up with for joining the two, should make for some awesome poses.

Even at this stage, the resemblance to their various depictions is uncanny. I can't wait to see the final appearance.

So my Neo-Classics line-up for The Wreckers is nearing completion, but there will always be room for improvement.

There is one very important member who is proving very difficult in being represented...

IMPACTOR

Image

I would like to ask my fellow robot lovers just who they think would make a fitting stand-in? Perhaps you own a figure you have modded slightly to play that part? :-?

Seibertron member Banjo-Tron suggested a slight reworking of Universe Tankor as a stand-in which is a good call!
Image
Theres also the the repaints of the recently released Fall of Cybertron Bruticus, Ruination, which are suppose to homage The Wreckers!

Can anyone suggest another figure they use or one of a similar paint scheme which could work? :???:

Honestly I'm of the oppinion that if a figure cannot be even closely represented by an existing figure, then it's best to either pay a lot of money for a custom, or wait for something to come out from a 3rd party. Then again, I'm becoming slightly specific on what goes on my shelves.

However of the two, I see more potential in the upcomign Impactor figure. I'll be getting him and his crew to fill out the SG Wreckers.

I'm going to double post strictly to pass on a phrase which I suspect may apply here:

Don't fill the void of a good character with a crummy figure. It will only be a half-assed attmept and you will know everytime you look at it that it's just not right.

Buy TFs for the figure, not for the character.

The only thing Impactorish about the FOC Impactor is the head and the colour scheme. Everything else about it sucks. It is way too small, hollow and the alt mode does not invoke Impactor at all. I was considering buying the FOC figure just for the head and sticking that on Tankor, but can't justify the expense.

Tankor already has a near perfect match for the shoulder mounted cannon, albeit too long. And the alt mode doesn't just hint impactor, it bangs you over the head with it's similarity.

My plans to customise Tankor are to spraypaint all the dark green parts purple. I will also strip the clear plastic parts and paint them purple too. I will use a junker Universe Ironhide head with a Plasticard crest. I will cut down the cannon barrel as it is too long. Not sure what to do with the hands though - they are kind of cool as massive claws, so I may well leave them as is as they are also used to make up the front of the alt mode. Anyway wish me luck

No, but that is a great use of the WFC mould, pretty left-field but works very well. I remember there being some news about a 3rd party pair, but then all went quiet...
