They have crack the Wii code? And a new Wiimote?

I heard on AOTS a couple days ago that someone has crack the encryption/coding of the Nintendo Wii games. But what does this mean? Is it now possible to rip and burn a copy of your Wii games just like you would a CD or DVD? Or can you download and burn games people have already ripped? Or do would you need a special chip installed like those XBox 1 cheaters?Stupid, little, flying, super-speeding kids with no lifes! Probably throw their Wiimotes at the TV too b/c they're hands are too slippery from playing their special XXX edition of Madden.

This may be good or bad. Sure you'll be able to burn very cheap games for your Wii, but what if Nintendo decided to put even tougher encryption on future titles and raises the prices of those games to match the 360 and PS3 to compensate for the extra cost.

I also heard somewhere that Nintendo will be introducing a new and improved Wiimote. I heard earlier that a Wii with DVD playback was in the works, but nothing about a new Wiimote. I've been a Nintendo fan since the beginning, but I'm really starting to dislike them releasing the "Beta" versions of the there system, then release a better final version later on. It's like if Hasbro were to release 1 figure and then rerelease it later with a better color scheme....

I heard the new Wii that comes with DVD playback would be Japan only. Or are Nintendo America etc now releasing a wii with DVD playback?

I wonder what this new Wii-mote can do? Maybe it will do what people thought the sensor bar would originally. Depth perception etc.

Yeah I'm also sick of all this Here's the console and then 6 months later releasing it again with features it should have had in the first place.

That's one of the reasons why it's not too bright to buy a console at launch.

Alright, here's the deal as I understand it. There is going to be a DVD movie capable version of the Wii. However, it is, as of now, Japan only. It was originally announced as Japan only, briefly was considered for a US release, and then went right back to being Japan only. Honestly, I'm not that surprised, they did the same thing with the Gamecube, look up the Panasonic Q.

As for the revised Wiimote, my guess is either improved innards or it's going to be for the DVD movie capable version and have DVD player buttons on it. Or, this whole rumor about a new Wiimote could be false or misinterpreted, they did already alter the design slightly with the revised wrist straps after all.

Last I heard, the Wii is already capable because it uses a DVD-ROM as it's disc drive, just doesn't have the software to run DVD movies. (Like a PC. It has the drive, and capability, but without a decoder/program such as WinDVD, PowerDVD, etc it cannot play them back.)

I had heard they were going to be using WinDVD as the official DVD program and you could get it from the shopping channel on Wii or they'd include it with newer models.

Either way, I'm sure that sucker could be hacked and converted over. Someone with patience will figure it out.

Is anybody really suprised that this system is getting an upgrade after launch? The GBA's been doing it for years. First the standard...then the fliptop front-lighted version, then the backlit SP with a brighter screen.....not to mention the off-to-the-side GBA micro. Not to mention, how many color schemes have the 'cube, GBASP, & DS gone through after the initial 1 color?

Nope

Thats why i wait till getting a Nintendo console, they always upgrade it later on, or its released with more stuff, and is normally a bit cheaper that the first release.

To be honest i'm not to fussed, though i was stoked cause the Wii was just a nice simple gaming device, not like the PS3 or 360, both try to pack as much into themselves as possible.

And i doubt a DVD player on the Wii will be much use to me, i don't think it would be able to play multi region DVDs, and thats no use to me since i have some US DVDs!

You're obviously still in the dark ages, people want to have something that can do everything(already been made but somepeople arn't smart enough to know how a comp works) people want to do everything on their console now and frankly its a waste, comps are more powerful and always will be and once someone has found a way to get the ISO of a game and make an emulator of it then you can play console games 10 times better on a comp. Sony and Microsoft have realized that people want an "All In One" device and have made their systems to take advantage of what the consumers and industry want, Nintendo hasn't even gotten hardware that can match the ps3 and 360 showing how much Nintendo will need to catch up and it cannot even do HD hell it can only pull off normal TV picture quality who wants 420p nowadays? Nintendo is losing the Console War no matter how much you fanboys disbelieve it they have lost since the Wii is only a gamecube with a fancy new controller.

Not only that, but the Wii is currently outselling the PlayStation 3 in Japan at a rate of four to one.

If by losing you mean winning, then yeah, you're right.

4 to 1....that not only means consoles but for games, if a multiplatform game comes out & 5 people buy it, odds are 4 Wii copies got sold & only 1 PS3. Businesses tend to take that into consideration when they decide what games get put on what systems, & how much is invested in each.

...so I guess people would rather buy a "gamecube with a fancy new controller" than a $600 hi-def Blu ray paperweight.

Sales may be up but the Ps3 is still a more powerful system hardware wise then the Wii and if they want a decent computer for 600$ then hey good on em for makin a smart decision, the 360 has the most powerful hardware out of the three but sadly no one is taking advantage of it.

Everyone knows Blu-Ray is just Sony doing the whole VHS BetaMax thing all over again so nothing new on their part for taking something crappy and making a profit on it.

Businesses also take into consideration who has the better hardware not just sales, of course the Wii is gonna sell more its so cheap to make due to its crappy parts while the other 2 have high costly parts due to how powerful they are so of course the other 2 systems are gonna be at a high price.
The Ps3 is a bit costly now that prices on parts has dropped significantly since when they first manufactured them and they need to adjust it accordingly but the 360 for only 300$ thats a steal and its easy enough to put windows or linux onto it when it has a harddrive so that thing is both a console wonder and a computer that can do quite alot.

Crappy as in?

Its cheaper than the other two cause it doesn't have all the other internal components that make the 360 and PS3 do multiple tasks, its simply a gaming device, not an all-in-one powerhouse, and its an easy to use and play device, so anyone that can do little flicks of the wrist can pick it up and play (when i get one I'm looking forward to getting my Nana and grandad on it and see how they go!).

And i have played with one in store and i must say the Wii-mote does feel light and a bit empty compared to my Xbox remote, but that doesn't mean its cheaply built.

The parts are crap and are cheap compared to the parts in the other 2 so yes that would make it cheaply built since the parts are drastically cheaper then the parts needed for the other 2 systems.

Edit: And the lack of HD capable parts makes it that much more crap in this day and age.

Oh boy!

Ok, just cause it is cheaper, does not mean that its made of crap parts, like the DS Lite is cheaper than the PSP, but it doesn't feel cheap and "crappy" (Its made in the same design as the Wii, and as far as i can tell, more or less the same materials too), nor has it fallen apart on me, and trust me, i manhandle my electrical equipment!

Ok, to anyone here that owns a Wii, has it fallen apart, or do you feel that is made from "crappy" parts?!?!

Exactly. The Wii appeals to a wide market, and the HD owning market is not very wide at all. Hell, I doubt that many people have a flat-screen TV! I for one own a round-screen TV.

Typical nintendo fanboy never listens... The parts are crap,
examples:
Processor-
Wii uses a 2002-2003 processor that no one knows even the clock rate or FSB or L2 of it, rumored to be clocked at 729 mhz but no confirmation from Nintendo on this.
Ps3- 3.2 Ghz with 512mb L2 Cache and a 25.6 GB/s FSB
360- 3.2 Ghz with 1gb and a 21.6 Gb/s FSB

GPU
Wii- whats this? Nintendo will not give release notes on what its clocked at? Why would they do that to themselves? Rumored to be clocked at 243 mhz but again no confirmation from Nintendo on this.
Ps3- 256mb NVIDIA G70 with 256mb of VRAM for the graphics card itself and clocked at 700mhz
360- ATI Xenos 256mb clocked at 500mhz 10 mb of VRAM

On Board RAM-
Wii- 88mb wow...
Ps3- 256 MB of Rambus XDR DRAM decent amount... could use 512
360- 512 MiB of 700 megahertz GDDR3 RAM on a 128-bit bus

Sound-
Wii- Stereo - Dolby Pro Logic II-capable... wow how out of date
Ps3- 7.1 digital audio, Dolby TrueHD, and many other sound and audio capabilitys
360- 5.1-channel Dolby Digital surround sound with 32bit processing

Storage-
Wii- 512mb of flash storage oooo scary though the SD cards are pretty useful,
Ps3- 20gb - 60gb harddrives, ethernet, usb 2.0 capable with flash drives, bluetooth 2.0, HDMI 1.3 capable of from 480i up to 1080p
360- 12x DVD drive, 20gb detachable harddrive, usb 2.0, now capable of 1080p

So yea as you can see the other 2 systems have parts that are quite costly and shows as to why they are at the prices they are and comparing parts by parts the Wii is 1 generation behind on hardware.

Edit: also I never said anything about parts falling apart of anything of the PSP or DS, please do not bring in a new conversation when we are clearly not talking about those devices.

You are quite wrong, the HD market has been alive and kicking since before the millennium and CRTs(what u call a round TV) have been the top of the line TV for years and were the first that were made HD capable. Most people are going to be getting a HDTV in the next 4-5 years because all the channels are slowly converting up and people are realizing that HD is what is the present and the future, hell they already have Super HD cameras in japan.

Yes, but Nintendo is making up for that with good games and the Wii-mote that allows for exclusives and better functionality and/or different gameplay on multi-platform titles. I don't see the point in your memory argument, seeing as the Wii is so much cheaper that you can buy flash cards.

We all know that the Wii is less powerful. But, it has better games.

Kextor, you are wrong. Just face it. HDTV is not that common. It's hyped, and everybody wants it, but not many NORMAL people have it. Japan is high-tech. They're a bad example. We're talking America/Australia/UK/Canada. Honestly, you sound like Sony. "THIS IS THE FUTURE! EVERYBODY NEEDS THIS!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!11!!one!!!!!!!"
