All this unanimous agreeing is a bit odd ;)

Then maybe a list for combiners?
Or a list for toys of human characters?

Besides, a list of all the lists? ;)

Haha, toys of human characters. That would be interesting but I dont have enough and Idont know if there are any dcent ones out there that would outdo this guy:

Also, would Spike count?

As for Combiners, I have trouble with that one in how to approach it. Should it be a list about the characters? Or the toys? And if its the toys, then how do we do it if the Hasbro Scramble city releases were all in individual members? Who do I count in the combined form? And would it be fair to have both G1 and the newer ones in the same list?

I feel like doing one for G1 combiners and one for post G1 combiners, how does that sound?

And this guy?

They are different type of combiners post G1. For example those 3-animal combiners in the BWN universe, the train combiner in RID2000, the Super-link toy line, and the power core line...
Not sure if the post-G1 concept could be able to cover them all... :-D :-D

Well if it is a list about the best, do you feel the ones you mentioned are better than the recent combiner toys? Because while it might not cover them all, I dont think a list of just CW/UW would work either snce there are too few of those, what do you think? Also, I am not a big fan of that SuperLik combiner, how about you?

Personally I love the 3-animal combiners of BW: Megnaboss, Tripredacus and Magmatron.
Rail Racer (RID) is good as well.
And the famous TCC Nexus Maximus :APPLAUSE:

Haha, yeah Nexus Maximus, he'll definitely be on lists kept for exclusive toys.

I think we could cook something up for post G1 combiners if we stick to the cream of the crop.

5. RID Railracer
4. I dont know what I should do here, have another CW toy? Not a big fan of those energon combiners due to the way they do the hands as well as some being straight reecos in the same team and I am not fond of RID Landfill. Maybe I could put nexus maximus after all if he is the best of all those superlink combiners.
3. CW/UW Devastator
2. BW Tripedicus
1. I foresee this going to UW Computron who takes the best aspects of the entire CW line into one figure (best torso, and some of the best limbs with Groove and Rook)

Honourable Mentions: PCC Grimstone

Now you are getting into that murky territory as to what makes a combiner. Because if we count only 2 toys together then a lot fo options open up. Also, I thought a combiner was only when the actual robot mode is a combination of others, not the alt mode.

Regardless, I would keep it as at least 3 members with robot modes of their own that combine into a bigger robot to make things less confusing.

Agree! At least 3 individuals with both robot mode and alt mode, combine to form a bigger bot.

Since we've apparently all agreed that three robots who have both altmodes and robot modes make a combiner, then does that mean Armada Sideways is a combiner?

Do they combine alltogether to make a larger robot?

But yeah, it would mean that Centuritron would be a combiner and so would those minicon combiners.

Then the G1 Overload, for the two litte masters with alt mode of chest.
Doubledealer with Knok & Skar.

And if we set the minimum number to 3, then Omega Prime(RID) won't be qualified... I will be very sad for this...

Omega Prime wouldnt count, thats more of a supermode.

Think of it this way, will I get more people thinking its false to include Omega Prime and Overlord in a list of COmbiners featuring Combiner Wars toy and Beast Wars Tripredicus? Or will I get the reverse?

I am dealing with the general sense of what people call combiners meaning that the bots act as different limbs and body parts building a larger robot. At least thats what i feel is the way to go, what do you guys think?

PS: Now do you see why I have avoided this list for so long? ;)

What about this:
Combiner: any two or more Transformers that can link together in some way.
Gestalt: Three or more Transformers that form a unique alt mode.

Sorry, I just meant Superion is not a giant sized Air Raid. Unique as in unique character rather than just a powered/armored up character.

Gestalt = Any 3, 4, 5 or more character combiners.

Armada Tidalwave, Beast Wars Neo Magmatron, Energon Omega Supreme... Well, those are ONE bot that can divide into multiple independant altmodes. What can we call that?

So, why not make FIVE lists of top fives?

----Top five GHESTALT (5 bots, one main torso, four limbs, all must have robot modes)

----Body with drones (One main bot that can transform, with 4 drones that only have a vehicle and limb mode. Think about Energon Optimus and all the Power Core Combiners)

----Combiner trios (All have a bot and vehicle mode, all combine to make a big bot.)

----Combiner armada (All have bot and alt modes, MORE than five must combine together to make the big bot)

----Combiner duos (Two bots, both have at least a bot and a alt mode, combine together to form a big bot. For example, many Optimus super modes, Energon Power Links, ect.)

----Finally, altmo combiners. (two or more individual vehicles/beasts with NO bot modes that combine into a single giant bot.)

Whatcha think?

I am thankful for all your help with this as well as ethusiasm, this is fun and keeps me going :)

The thing is, as many of you have realized, the Transformers community is very finicky and can get caught up on random details turning a moehill into mountain. And these lists work best when they are simple, like 5 best figures figures from the Cybertron line, or 5 best Beast Wars basics. And even then, its not obvious.

So I totaly get the need to go precise. But by doing things too on the nose, you kind of defeat the purpose of these lists, which is to highlight the best toys out there. Going with combiner trios or combiner duos ends up making lists just so that some are not ignored and doesnt really highlight that they are better than everything else out there.

For instance, Railracer is Awesome! But if i were to only put him in a list where all he is up against is minicon trio combiners then it desnt really make him look like he is one of the best. At least not as much as if he ended up in a list of top combiners period.

You guys get what I mean?

Transformers that combine and that fall in the cracks of a "top 5 combiner list" will eventually make it to other lists if they are actually good. If Energon Optimus is a really good toy, then he could make the Top 5 Energon Toys list (which I am thinking about now, with Tidal Wave as number 1). While Omega Prime could make the best RID list and so on and so forth. So in the end, no one would be ignored and if they are then its because they arent one of the best toys.

I know this is kinda off topic but I didn't know where to post this but doesn't Sky Lynx suffer from visible head syndrome? Yes, it is central to his altmode but... It's just right there. I don't know whether it's the best or worst case of visible head syndrome, but he has it.

It's just right there. I don't know whether it's the best or worst case of visible head syndrome, but he has it.

Haha, yeah he does. I would say its a good case of it since its not apparent in vehicle mode, kinda like Skystalker, who did get the number one slot. You can always write about skylynx here to see what others think: http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/ ... ome/33664/

I think the Leader Class part of the movies lines are by far the best movie toys. I like all those you mentioned, the Leader Class versions, though I would put RoTF Prime at the top of the list, followed by Sentinel Prime and then Starscream. I am also a big fan of Ironhide as well as RoTF Megatron. So my list would be

5. Ironhide
4. Starscream
3. RoTF Megatron
2. Sentinel Prime
1. RoTF Optimus Prime

All Leader Class toys. I never handled Leader Brawl, so I can't comment. He does look good in the box. And once again, this list highlights the glaring mistake Hasbro made when they didn't produce a Leader Class DoTM Megatron.
