I think the first set looks better personally.
I would recomend this though, have the rank bars over the base picture, rather than along side it, so the overall thing is the same size nomatter the rank.

And no offence neliz, but those look aweful.
You need to at least keep them within the standard 'medal' size that has been used unoffcially for a good couple of years for verious reasons.

Not as such, but a 'standard' size for this kinda thing has developed over the years, and I think it's probably a good idea to stick to it. Especilly if we have to resort to adding them to the existing sig image (as I suspect we will have to in the end).

The difference between the the 1st and 3rd is only 6 pixels so the difference on a sig bar would't even be the size of another ribbon, so I don't think it would be that big of an issue. Plus moving them in cover's up the ribbon art. But, if you guys/gals want them moved in I can do that easily.

I don't think we necessarily need one for the finder. But, definitely one for the Champion.

Unless there are objections those ribbons are perfect for the additional achievements (although I don't see the difference betweeh the Matrix ribbons). The finder ribbon is for story elements as their team will have significant writing behind them.

For the placement (participant,1,2,3) could a generic padding put put to the left of the image that's filled by the level achieved? It would standardize the size and clearly indicate placement.

One has a yellow border.

I thought the gold/silver/bronze would indicate that. I don't want to add too much to the width as it will begin affecting the ribbon width quite a bit. I can move the "bars" onto the art itself if that would help in standardizing the sizes. And, if we stay with this standard we'll all know who was in first/second/third by default of design.

To be honest, I dont see any problem with part of the picture (especilly that one where the ends are relativly empty) is a problem. It probably looks better than having em squashed into different sizes, and looks better than havign the overall size differ.

But I've always been rather fussy about this kinda thing.

I see where you say it starts to look a bit goldish. But i'm sure with it being just 1 band opposed to 3, and the gold's being fairly bright, it'll be easily picked up that it's 3rd. Those look great though *Thumbs up*

Outside of the Max/Pred Tourney, do we all agree on these as the standard tourney ribbon templates for all tournaments? If now how do you think they can be changed to keep a standard and not encroach on the actual sig too much?

I was thinking more of the size than anything else. I feel a standard to do rankings wouldn't be a bad thing so people aren't getting confused by different ranking systems.

well, if you agree to lighten up the colors to actually represent their respective medals ;)

I agree with Raphael that especially bronze is too dark brown, highlighting it would help.

but as a template? sure!

What I think'd be cool is to do a semi standard version of that template for the tournie orginiser.

Why shouldnt the orginiser get a medal for all his/her hard work?

people are gonna get confused no matter what. i remember some of lucky's sigs a rememeber thinking, "my god, it's full of bars" but i'd need an encyclopedia to tell me what they meant.

i guess what i'm trying to say is that while nice and all and a very good outlet for creativity at the end of the day it's pretty meaningless unless you already know what tournie is what bar, and if you know that you probably already know who won anyway. so it's pretty much something for the winner, rather than to let people know who the winner is

Well it is the player's choice if they want to wear the bar. While I do agree that sometimes people will not know what they mean, the fact that people will wear them will give them a point of pride. You may not know what tournament they were in but you will know how that player performed in that tourney.

I'm in the military and I don't know what half the ribbons I see worn are, but they are there to show the achievement that person has made. Sometimes I have to look up what a new ribbon/medal I'm being awarded looks like, but I wear it with a little pride even if everyone else doesn't know what it is. And, sometimes people even ask me what this one or that one is for.

I don't mind editing my first post to keep track of what ribbons belong to what tourney. Matter of fact I think I will do that to provide a point of reference.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that while you may not know what exactly they are, you will see that player has made achievements and if they were placed in those tourney's. If you don't know what they are you can ask the player or look it up in my first post. They are there for personal pride and achievement. No one has to wear them if they don't want to.
