My question is: What will they call the transforming 'hexbomb' minicon? Colored like Ramhorn, but nothing to do with that name, I'm thinking Raindance--but it seems silly as well--but I thought he was the jet part of Slam Dance (Grand Slam and Rain Dance).

Could be Noizu, because that was what the japanese autobot dinocassette Pteradon was called. :???:

Is that not being equally ungrateful?
No, it's me explaining why I didn't buy a figure I looked at carefully and decided didn't work for me.

Which is what these people did.

And calling him Nerfatron is not explaining anything.
It's the equivalent of calling Galvatron midgetron.

You act exactly as those who you attack, you show the same lack of respect for molds you don't like, mock them with silly names, show no gratitude for getting a new Megatron, a gun Megatron, and you make sweeping generalisations about fans.

You are the pot calling the kettle black.

Sledge wrote:So why should Galvatron be an Ultra class figure? Based on what?

As you said, he "should" be anything from Voyager to Supreme based on fiction or previous toys.

Ultra is an average of all the sizes he "should" be and is one of the sizes we KNOW they are giving us in the Classics line.
Which I can only ASSUME is people's reasoning, as we're not a borg like collective known as the fans.

Note though that in what even you said he "should" be, deluxe was not a contender, not once.
The absolute smallest he ever was was in the comics, and there he was Prime sized, and comic Prime was actually taller than Classics Prime.

Sledge wrote:I didn't take one look at a single picture and immediately decide that Hasbro had let down "the fans"

I'm not going to defend a "the fans" comment, but you can't call anyone for making them if you make them yourself, unless you want to look like a hypocrite.

However, regarding a "single picture", that doesn't have any effect on what we were told about his size.

As a Marvel comic fan, I'm used to a grey Galvatron, so I use Energon Megatron in the role.
I own both versions, the Voyager and the Leader Class, and despite being the exact same mold, the size makes a world of difference.

He has more prescence, is more dominating and intimidating, he embodies what Galvatron was, represented far more than a smaller version of the exact same mold.

It doesn't matter how many pictures they show; part of Galvatron's appeal was always his size and physical prescence, and those who like him for that reason have been given a figure lacking, so are entitled to complain without being painted as ungrateful bitches that moan about petty things.

Oh, and I constantly judge figures on one picture, and to date, 95% of my impressions have been right.
Some of us can get a lot of accurate information from a single picture.

No, Archer said the designs were done working with Paramount, and then sent to Takara/Tomy so they can start working on the toys.

The designs are still done by Bay's art dept.

Yeah, so maybe the designs are even uglier than before. So ugly infact that the Hasbro team took one look at them and said. "No way we can make that POS turn into the this POS!". So they sent it off to miracle-workers at Takara.

Though if I were the design team, I'd design the movie bots after the G1 bots. They maybe alien robots but that doesn't mean they have to have half-melted bug faces. It makes no sense. If they can change their hands into cannons, they should be able to fix their faces. Something that won't scare the **** out of small children. Something more human. And while their at it, fix some of the proportions. No gorilla bot modes.

I have a feeling in the next movie their going to be interacting with humans on a much larger scale. Having a Predator face isn't gonna help convince people your the good guy.

OK, that's my movie rant for today.

Scale? Maybe you should realize an A-10 tank killer has a 50 plus foot wingspan. He should be bigger.

That doesn't matter. What we want is a "rough" scale and bot modes come first - Transformers aren't "Real" vehicles, they don't HAVE to turn into full size jets, etc. as in the sky and far away you can't tell the difference anyway, plus they can compress and expand a lot.

I don't like that people are even defending this. Even if you have your own reasons, it's obvious people are upset. Fans just don't seem to care about other fans anymore.

Whoa, quite a bit of news here the last few days. Out of the loop for a few days with the flu and, man, you can miss some exciting times and news!

The Wave 1 Universe figures look great with their colors. Prowl's colors are spot-on and Onslaught just plain looks menacing. I'm really liking Sunstreaker more and more.

Tankor's colors are a little bit more bland that I would like, but his robot and alt modes make up for it.

Still on the fence a bit with Powerglide. The silver paint job was just an odd decision.

As for Galvatron.....this is going to go down as one of the more controversial figures in recent years, even more so than Classic Megatron's Nerfification since he at least retained some sort of gun alt mode. I never was much of a fan of Galvatron, but he always looked sleek and powerful in a futuristic way that few TFs have ever topped in overall design. The robot mode really conveys that and that glare on his face of his perfect head can cause children to run away and grown men cry!

But the tank......that tank. I like tanks. I like Transformers that transform into tanks. I even like Movie Deluxe Brawl despite his faults, since he looks good in tank mode. But Galvatron was not a tank. And he certainly isn't done justice with the kind of tank prototype that any designer at Hasbro probably has had laying around his cubicle for years. The deluxe size is a little surprising, but Classics/Universe doesn't have good scaling on its side, as it is, so it doesn't bother me.

Galvatron just seems to confirm that Hasbro will not make any sort of robot with an alt mode resembling a gun or cannon with a barrel, or at least Classics Megatron is the closest we will ever see again.

Makes me kind of hope they never bother doing a Shockwave update for that reason alone.

The Blaster repaint probably was inevitable in some way much the same way we saw the reissued Soundwave "classic": the obsolete alt mode leaves the future of the character in question as to just what it is going to transform into. There really was no need to really count this as "news", though; as somebody else stated, Hasbro could have waited until later waves of Universe to sneak these repaints in without creating hoopla that will be the chagrin of many adult collectors.

Waitaminute! I'm supposed to not like something because you don't like it? I'm not one to give a **** about scale, I think this Galvatron's headsculpt is killer, the tank mode looks good as a techtank and, while I had a different image in my head of exactly what he would look like, they did a good job on bringng to life a character that I like. Hell, I'd assumed he'd be Deluxe size since the moment they announced him at BotCon07. If I'm supposed to change my opinion because of another fans opinion then, no, I don't give a flying **** about other fans and wht they like or want. Boo-Hoo! Cry me a river.

Isn't Classics following the old Marvel Comics series? The Galvatrons shown there were indeed descended from Megatron, albeit the Megatron from an alternate timeline(s).
It's a fantastic figure. But it would've been better as a Voyager, just to fit in with Prime, Magnus, and Megatron.

If everyone is positive, nothing will happen. Hasbro does indeed browse these kinds of boards, but they'll just see there isn't a problem. Just because you LIKE the figure doesn't mean you have to settle for second best. If we all start a big hub-bub about this, Hasbro might change the scale.

Galvatron NEEDS to be an Ultra. And Powerglide needs to be a deluxe, for that matter... but Galvatron especially.

If anything, it's not Hasbro that's in the wrong most of the time - it's the fans for not taking a united front.

LMAO, whay dream world do you live in? If people bitch enough they might change the size? You mean make a new mold after putting money into this one? Aint never happening buddy...

Besides, I do not want an Ultra Galvatron. You might, I don't. That would make him tower over the rest of the line. Sorry, but no thanks. I also agree that powerglide should not have been an ultra. I'm just hoping that somehow in robot mode he will not tower over the rest of the Classics, or he will forever be in alt mode on my shelf.

Thanks Hasbro for the great looking Galvatron. I was expecting a pos like nerfatron. I, for one, am pleasantly surprised.

Now then, on to the real issue, wtf is up with that Blaster repaint crap.....

But not everyone is all caught up in scale, you know. I personally think Galvatron should be a Voyager figure, but I couldn't care less about scale. But we always do this. We always complain about figures because they don't meet our expectations, and then we berate others who like them because they don't look for the same thing in toys. I don't care about scale, I like good figures. Homages are fine, but I care more about good figures. Scale is a waste of time with Transformers and always has been, but there are a bunch of awesome figures.

Here's my thoughts on scale:

I agree, a good figure is more important than the correct scale of a figure.
However, there comes a point where it should be addressed more than what it has been.
Imo, Powerglide as an Ultra is just DUMB.
Being that all but one of the new figures are clearly based on G1 characters (hence, "Classics"),
scale does matter.
If you actually play with your TF's, and you feel it's an entertaining way to use your imagination that now Powerglide is going to be one of the biggest Classics ever made, then that's cool, have fun.
But these characters are not only popular because they're older/nostalgic/retro/etc.;
a lot of it has to do with their personalities and therefore how they interacted.
So even in a display, a Powerglide that casts a shadow on O.P., Megatron, Galvatron, heck, even Soundwave, the Seekers, Grimlock, etc., just doesn't seem right.
Powerglide in the cartoon seemed more like a little bitch, not a bad ass.
As a deluxe, I can buy it... But Ultra? Come on.
Do I think Galvatron should've been an Ultra?
Not really.
But at least keep it consistent with the other Classics leaders and make him a voyager.
To me, that just makes sense.

I don't base buying figures on whether they're out of scale or not, but for those of you that don't care at all,
you have to at least understand how others feel about this.

Oh, and by the way, as someone else said,
who gives a shite about the scale of alt modes???? There's no realistic way that could ever happen!!
Unless you're okay with ALL TF's being automobiles.
Not planes, tanks, etc., JUST cars and trucks.
Who the hell wants that????

It's all quite puzzling, the whole deluxe Galvatron vs ultra Powerglide dilema. If Hasbro have any sense they'd know that every line needs a villain, and you don't waste such a key character on an insignificant deluxe. And Powerglide, I can only guess that maybe they decided an Ultra sized plane would sell, but didn't put much thought into who they picked.

It's not like they have great repaint potential either.

Ultra Powerglide doesn't look that tall in my opinion, he looks quite bulky around the upper body but standing next to Prime or Nerfatron he's probably only an inch or so taller.

I can't believe panties are getting bunched over this.
