Got my Hegemon from Robotkingdom. Sad that I can get things from Hong Kong in four days but domestic online retailers take over a week!
I have to say I'm very pleased and impressed with ToyWord's first outing! This is the definitive Classics Megatron. For that matter it's probably the best Megatron figure ever! It's got a few faults but from what I can tell they're minor.
The transformation sequence is complex, but not overly so. There were a few points during my initial run through that had me sweating, but nothing broke, stressed, etc. The plastic quality seems up to par. I had to shave down a few pegs to make them fit their corresponding holes.
Articulation:
Head - 360 rotation with slight up and down movement from the transformation
Arms- 360 Shoulders rotation with lateral movement, bicep swivel, ratcheted elbow, 360 wrist rotation
Waist/Chest - 360 rotation at the waist and between the chest and abdomen
Legs - ratcheted hips with lateral movement, mid-thigh swivel, ratcheted knees, ball jointed feet
The Gun barrel on his back can be positioned vertically, horizontally, or removed all together
My only complaint with the articulation is the lateral shoulder movement. I feel it should have been ratcheted, especially with the added weight on the fusion cannon side.
Accessories:
The translucent sword/pick axe is surprisingly nice. Looks much better in person than than I thought it would. The energon mace is excellent.
The gun add-ons are nice as well. The barrel extension splits in two and wraps around the gun barrel, the tip slides on to hold everything together quite securely. The stabilizer is disappointing, mainly because the rear section opens horizontally rather than vertically. Had they added a swivel it could have done both and would have looked a lot nice and closer to G1 Megatron.
Orange safety plug: comes right out, just held on with friction, no glue.
I should also note that the back kibble can be removed, the gun barrel, the trigger, and the panels that hang down the back of his thighs.
My biggest issue is with the translucent plastic in the arms and legs. I just don't understand the reasoning behind it. It's basically translucent plastic for sake of translucent plastic. It looks superb in his head for light piping, but the rest doesn't seem necessary.
A swivel here would have been nice:
