I'm pretty sure "Aligned" wasn't meant to be the actual name of the tfp/wfc/etc. continuity group either, but it wound up getting used that way. People are probably gonna just keep calling it "Evergreen" until another name gets put on it, whether they know it doesn't mean that or not, just so they have something to call it.

Many Lines get called what they are not actually called - often because what they are actually called is unknown, poorly stated if at all, contradictory or miss leading, called different things in different markets or just darn right annoying.

For example the toyline of 2010 is called "Transformers" or perhaps "Transformers 2010" but everyone and their dog calls it "Hunt of the Decepticons" instead - as it's a lot easier to do that.

The Toylines of 2006 & 2012 are both (in whole or part) called "Robots in Disguise" but they get called "Classics" & "Prime-RID" or they just get called Prime toys and the preceeding ones get the First edition moniker slapped on them instead.

Poor old RID 2001 gets pretty much ignored now and even the IDW comic to some extent has been mentally overwritten buy RID-15 which has in the last year of so increasingly just been called RID / Robots in Disguise - sometimes still with the year attached - but often not. so now the original RID gets a date stuck on it - the "Robots in Disguise" Branded Universe like Sub-segment gets pretty much ignored completely - I think many people never even noticed it existed in the 1st place.

I hope they don't reuse Generations - it's bad enough they keep re-using Titan so much - and Cyberverse is going to be plenty confusing too when it was an easy way to refer to Cyberverse Commander and Cyberverse Legion classes.

I wonder if new fans are going to get very confused by the whole "Legends" over use thing too.

People are still bickering about what the Combiner Teams and Decepticon Jet brand segments should be called..Gestalt seems to have gone completely out of fashion - but I don't mind that as it wasn't helpful so long as there were things combining in numbers less than 5 too.

But even 'Combiner' as a term requires you to use terms like Micromaster as a Modifier. Heck one of the south american Cyber series classes is called Commander too - just to give us yet another headache.

----

Anyway I like these - I do look at them and smile and think "When are their pretender shells coming out" ?

The cool thing is if they wanted to be sneaky someone could make Pretender shells for the Busy Book toys too.

Classics is Classics and always has been. The use of RID in this case was just as a tag line borrowed from the original G1 toy line and not meant to be used as the name of the toy line. All of the figures were designated as "Classic Deluxe" or "Classic Voyager" while in press releases and on the website and elsewhere Hasbro referred to the line only as "Transformers Classics", never "Robots in Disguise". Even the Universe toy line referred to G1-based figures as "Classic Series" (as opposed to "Beast Wars Series" for Cheetor and Dinobot) rather than "G1 Series".

It's kinda the same problem with the so-called "GDO-series" from 2012. You know, the first Asia-exclusive series, later imported by TRU? Turned out the range didn't have an official name at all, and "GDO" just stood for Hasbro's "Global Development Organization", the same department responsible for the Cyber series if I may add. But we needed a distinctive name, so "GDO" stuck...

So yeah, when Hasbro releases a new range without a special name, under the current and/or generic line, we get a bit... twitchy at times in finding something unique to call it. But things get really fun when it re-uses an older line name, especially "Robots in Disguise". Ugh...

Nothing more was revealed. So now i am really puzzled by where this pic below comes from. Whatever this show is, it has those toys on display, as proof by the Megatron we see at the bottom:

New Evergreen Styled 4.5" Optimus Prime and Bumblebee Value Chain Toys Fully Revealed

Postby william-james88 » Sun Sep 24, 2017 1:06 pm

Motto: "'till All Are One"
For some reason, an Asian source has chosen to really squeeze out this leak of value chain simplified toys of limited articulation that would otherwise garner very little attention. But now the whole fan community is very intrigued by the toy representations of the new Evergreen designs Hasbro is now using. Below you can see the full reveal/leak of two of the four 4.5" simplified toys coming out in this line, Bumblebee and Optimus. These convert in about 4 steps. These images all come from the TFCN Facebook page.

Inches.

This line will be AMAZING. For the little kids, of course. Because introducing young children to the classic designs of transformers can only be beneficial for the franchise's future.

... which is a good thing, because 1 inch is roughly 2.5 centimeters. So the figures will be roughly 11.25 centimeters tall, or right between current Legends and Deluxe Classes. By comparison, the Cyber Battalion figures with the same basic complexity are Voyager Class-sized.

I actually really like that Bee design. Wouldn't mind seeing it on a toy with the amount of effort that, say, RiD or Generations puts into theirs.

Totally agree! It's cool to see all the different design aspects from different Bumblebees. We get a robot mode more like the movie version with door wings, a G1-ish chest design and head sculpt, and the vehicle mode grill looks like it came straight from the TR figure.

Another thing to note: there's no line name to speak of, the "evergreen" designs are placed under the generic Transformers line, no subline what so ever. So, would this be TF 2017 now, after 2010 and 2014, or should we just forgo the years?

Trying to work out how Prime transforms he's a little more impressive than he appears. Sure, he doesn't have elbows, but his legs fold up rather than pull out so he does have knees. His arms pivot up from his waist to his shoulders which is more complex than you'd expect for a figure like this. I can't quite figure out where his head comes from, it might flip up from the real truck grill. It's a neat figure, the only thing I don't like (aside from the lack of elbows) is the front bumper sticking out from his hands.

Bee is alright too, the open windows are an interesting cost cutting choice, I like it.

While i like the look of these two, i do hope that these are not the toyline that will replace RID in 2018. They are nice for little kids, but they lack even elbow bend. I hope these oversized legends toys are not what replace the cool engineering that we get from RID.

They aren't dont worry. These are under the same generic "generations" banner as other toys that were unassociated to other lines. Since there isnt any actual show name on the cards, I am pretty sure this is not from whatever show comes after RID :)

Prime and Bee look crappy but that Grimlock on the previous page looks like a fun simple toy even if I just class it as an update of the old Pretender inner robot. One I'd probably have on the desk quite a lot.
