I can really see that figure making or breaking the reissue line.
Not likely. Hasbro was looking to reissue that mold back in the 10th Anniversary line and either couldn't find it or it was gone.

I wonder if they ever found it? They had only used it five years prior so it couldn't have been that lost. They moved factories at least once, maybe twice since then so there's a chance it turned up at some point in the last 15 years.

Let's also keep in mind that lost molds don't really mean anything anymore when Hasbro rebuilt the combining dino tapes just for a few exclusives. Where there's a will there's a way.

Oh, by "gone" I meant "gone beyond recovery", as in unusable.

Similarly, the BWII Galvatron mold was gone by 2005.

I'd be so in for all 4 of those.Hopefully they do not end up being store exclusives.

If I can find them somewhere I'm definitely picking them up. Love me some Transmetals. :michaelbay: :michaelbay:

Based on price alone, I'd be more inclined to think this was the Ultra size Optimal and Megatron ( prior to Transmetals) I mean they were released as part of the 10th anniversary back in 2006. Besides the Transmetal Primal and Megatron were the smaller Mega Class. Charging $50 for them now, even with inflation would be even more of a rip-off than the original Prime reissue from Walmart in 2019. Sure it was $50, but very few bought it for that price. Once it was clearanced for $25 then people started buying it.

I had the original TM Primal and Megatron. They were great toys back then, but definitely not worth $50 for a reissue today.

They were found in a Walmart computer.

Coupled with the name "Vintage Beast Wars" evoking the "Vintage G1" line, this could very likely be the next set of Walmart exclusive reissues to come after Retro Headmasters.

Was Transmetal Primal not sold for the same price as Ultra Primal when he came out initially?

Haven't seen the headmasters anywhere else, which means these may to make it out anywhere else either.

Ultras were $20 in Beast Wars, while Megas (which TM Primal was) were $15.

He's one of the most tragic cases of red-chrome flaking, I've heard reports of his legs inexplicably shattering, and those rubber treads you have to fold up into his claws then stretch around his wheel assembly ain't gonna' last forever either. Maybe they could even retool him so all his crab legs end up on his shoulder pads like on the show.

I haven't handled Magnaboss in years, but out of curiosity, do the Japanese and Korean releases of BWII Skywarp have GPS too?

At least with Transmetal Megs you have the Metals option. Since my rare-ish pinkish-purple-chrome variant broke, I've regretted not buying that Easter basket with the chrome-swap TM Primal vs. Megatron KO in Kmart 15+ years ago.

I agree on retooling Rampage to make him more show accurate, maybe even Rattrap.
And yup, Rampage's chrome flacking is horrifying. I still vividly remember picking him up to rearrange the shelf just to have all the chrome stuck to the palm of my hand.

Vintage Beast Wars Transformers Figures Listed on Walmart

Postby william-james88 » Thu Feb 25, 2021 10:56 am

Motto: "'till All Are One"
Fellow Seibertornian JTPrime17 has found some new listings on Walmart and they are:

TRA GEN BW Vintage Optimus Primal
EAN: 5010993869862
Product Number: F1621

TRA GEN BW Vintage Trex Megatron
EAN: 5010993867103
Product Number: F1622

TRA GEN BW Vintage Rattrap
EAN: 5010993867141

TRA GEN BW Vintage Cheetor
EAN: 5010993866953
Product Number: F1620

Both Primal and Megatron are $50 so they are more likely to be reissues of either the Ultra 1996 toys or Mega Transmetals rather than reissues of the Kingdom toys. We are not sure which reissues it will be though. The fact that Rattrap's price is not revealed below makes it hard to decipher if it will be the same class as Cheetor or not, helping us know if we are looking at the Beast Wars season 1 or season 2 toys.

Lastly, these listings having the "vintage" name and being found at Walmart almost fully guarantee that these will be Walmart exclusives again like all "retro" based lines have been in the past few years.

this lines up with the previous rumor about walmart having re-issue transmetals that was floating around not too long ago. Sadly, I am betting the $50 primal and megatron are likely to be their original transmetal forms and not the dragon/optimal ones, given modern toy costs. Might be worth it for people who's Megatrons suffer from gps though.

By Rampage, do you mean his chrome flaking off? Rampage doesn't have GPS issues to my knowledge, just the paint flaking problem (which I fixed on mine by adding a layer of clear coat) and the rubber treads.

my rampage's lower legs crumbled like gps syndrome. my megatron on the other hand never had any issues. never had any chrome problems with any of my beast wars outside of rhinox and tm2 ramulus either. beast machines jetstorm however flaked like mad. transmetal 2 megatrons crotch also disintegrated, on 2 different copies of him.

as for the "why transmetals" there was a rumor posted somewhere. thought it was in this thread but cant find it. bu ya, theres no specifics yet, so for all we know it could be chrome plated happy meals beast wars. :-D

You are preaching to the choir Bro... I guess there was some rumor a while ago about TM's, but nothing about that makes sense to me from these listings. Based on past intuition,- Price, 2006 10th anniversary reissues etc..., tell me these are Just the Ultra figures being re-released.

I could be wrong, but of all the 10th anniversary figures ONLY Rattrap was TM. But they could pull out the old T30 Deluxe as a stand in, we'll have to wait and see.

BW Mega Class were $15 from 1996-2000. Even taking into consideration inflation, there is no way I'd Pay $50 for any of those. Sure I know originals MIP can go for well over that price on eBay, but loose, I'd not even pay $50 for an original, let alone a brand new re-issue even MISP.

These HAVE to be the orignal ultras. $50 for the transmetal megas, which are just shiney voyagers, would be kind of outragous.

Also kind of disappointing, because it probably means the only transmetal is Rattrap (just like the 10th anniversary).

Reissuing the 1996 Season 1 toys would be Hasbro competing with themselves against the new versions in Kingdom that are supposed to represent those same body forms.

This thread was even created because of the preexisting Transmetals reissue rumor from over two weeks ago in the very first post of this thread.

I haven't paid attention to anything surrounding the G1 reissues, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the very conspicuous presence of "GEN" in those listings mean that they're Generations figures/repaints? Or do the G1 reissues also have that? I know the Transmetal reissues were talked about by a leaker (even though I personally find that to be the least believable leak/claim so far), but other than that I don't see why we're all assuming these listings are specifically reissues and not just some sort of repaint line/subline like the 35th Anniversary Siege figures or the Netflix line.

So the other reissue listings did not have the word Gen. But they did have the word vintage.
This says Vintage Gen so it could go either way. The reason that I don't think it's a reissue subline of current Gen toys is because both Primal and Megatron are the same price point. So the most logical thing at the moment is that they are vintage toys where both characters were the same class. And at the 50$ price point, that narrows it down to 2 possibilities. The Ultras or the Megas.

And either way, the leaker will be partly right even if Rattrap ends up being the only transmetal figure released

Yes it was crazy and I explained why when that toy came out. Of course the fact that it didn't sell until it was clearanced for $25 at most stores might make Hasbro think twice, or make Walmart hesitant to deal with Hasbro. Also there was the Soundwave and Blaster reissues that were more reasonably priced.

You're right, 50$ for an old voyager sized toy is CRAZY, hasbro would never....

Except wasn't it originally supposed to come with trailer, trailer was dropped but price never changed? Its an exception, not a rule.

I thought the trailer was dropped so that they could sell it at $50. I have never heard of it originally coming with a trailer.

And I never said it was a rule. I just said we can't rule anything out since there's a precedent for everything now.

Might be worth pointing out that Hasbro considers chrome to be a premium, especially if it's well done and colored over like with Transmetals. It's possible Hasbro thinks an extra $20 on "Voyager" is what it takes to do the large amount of chrome justice on Primal and Megatron.

$50 for a minty fresh TM Megatron? I'd pay that, don't even have to think hard about it. I have the original TMs of all four characters on offer in good shape, but that GPS on Megatron (mine hasn't broken yet and I'd like to keep it that way) makes any improved version a must have.
