The more time I spend on the internet, the more I think I'm a stupid consumer ; I really liked all of the recent movies, and am eagerly waiting for this one... I'm just glad to see Transformers on the big screen, so having movies is always good news. As long as they don't turn it into something blatantly bad like a puppet show with a $38.52 budget or into literal pornography, I'll be glad to go see the movie.

So, when I see people discussing what was good, what was bad, some director's crimes against the franchise, I just feel like I don't have any critical taste... I mean, I'm able to criticise video games or comics and mangas, but so far I haven't been shocked by something bad in the Transformers movies. Maybe it's because I just come into the cinema awaiting nothing but big robots fighting, and my desires are satisfied each time.

That's not a bad thing :) everyone is different with their likes and dislikes, so don't feel pressured to not like something that others don't.

He looks amazing so far, and his head is killer looking, like a cross between a seeker and a gas mask. And his voice actor is awesome.

Agree. I don't really care much for Shatter, but Dropkick and Blitzwing are awesome.

I don’t mind it, but I don’t understand why all the bots/cons on Cybertron look G1-accurate(Bumblebee being a Volkswagen Beetle) while Blitzwing stood out like a sored thumb(still retaining the Starscream look). Couldn’t they at least changed the colors a bit and give him a visor to further differentiate from Starscream?

Blitzwing already looks nothing like Starscream, cuz Starscream looks like this (minus the tattoos, of course). :P ;)

So whilst on my travels, I came across this article on the guardian website, an opinion piece on the movie.

https://www.theguardian.com/film/2018/sep/28/bumblebee-hailee-steinfeld-transformers-is-for-kids

Now don't let the headline fool you into thinking that this just talks about how adults shouldn't like the franchise, as adult fans are mentioned, but instead it talks about how the treatment of the female stars differ from the five Bay movies to knights bumblebee.

I was saying that all the transformers on Cybertron all have G1-accurate designs(Optimus, Shockwave, Soundwave, etc) while Blitzwing still retained Starscream’s G1 look and could’ve changed a bit to look closer to his namesake. And besides, this is a reboot(like how Bumblebee having a Volkswagen Beetle alt mode), so so your statement is rendered invalid.

Not if the whisperings of Bee getting his 70s Camaro form by the end of the film prove true. ;)

Considering how much they are promoting bee in his camaro form under this movies banner, I would be suprised if the rumours weren't true.

Really hoping there's gonna be Barricade there.

As for the G1-esque bots, I personally feel that this don't mix well with the awesomeness Bee and the cons have brought. Don't get me wrong. They look pretty nice. But they don't seem to belong in this continuity. I would be really impressed had they been introduced in another installment (could be a new series, or a game), but in this movie? That feeling is kinda stamped out.

Thankfully, the stuff that's on earth is amazing enough to still get me hyped for this movie.

Just my two cents.

i feel that they take everything we love about movie verse bots
(not a ton, but still something),
and melded it, quite nicely, with the G1-ishness we were sad to be missing.

the mashup aesthetic
is WORKIN 4 me!

:KREMZEEK:

Yeah...Like I said, they would've been real dope if they're from another continuity/story. I think I would be really be excited if it's a new version of the wars at cybertron like Fall of Cybertron as I was (and still) a fan of that game. And again, comparing with how Shatter, Dropkick and Blitzwing looks, I still feel that it doesn't really fit.

Though if it's revealed that some insane cataclysmic event actually turned the G1-looking bots into how they are at the previous films, I might open up. William-James' point on the G1-esque Shockwave appearing at a newspaper from ROTF kinda got me thinking.

Personally, I love the alien aspect of the Cybertronians (Was really digging ROTF Ravage and DOTM Shockwave and more back then, so yeah). The Generations toyline (although I don't collect TFs anymore) is enough to sate (at least for me) on the G1-stuffs.

But hey, I'll see the film for more refined thoughts as maybe I'll open up. But for now, I'm still feeling what's mentioned above.
Cheers! ;)^

now

and produce these beauties of a triple-changers

oooooo, boy!

Well apparently Hasbro DID confirmed it as an alternative chronology(whether or not the reboot statement holds water is up in the air): http://news.tfw2005.com/2018/05/31/hasb ... ond-364648

He wasn't using the word "chronology" in the correct way when he said that. The words he should have used to say what he meant was "time period" or "point in time", as he was only referring to how this movie takes place in the 1980s instead of the late 2000s/early 2010s like the other movies.

Interview with Screenwriter Christina Hodson on Transformers Bumblebee Movie, and Reshoots

Postby Va'al » Mon Oct 08, 2018 1:48 am

Motto: "Till All Are Pun!"
A couple of updates from the world of the Transformers Bumblebee Movie - the sixth to be produced and released, but yet unsure if the sixth in the series (even as a prequel, it's believed more and more this may be part of a new narrative timeline) - in the form of a new interview with screenwriter Christina Hodson courtesy of Den of Geek.

“I always wanted to see me be the hero,” Hodson says. “I wanted to see me kick ass. I mean, not literally. I had no desire to be an actor, but I wanted to have those role models and those heroes. I think what's really fun is that [Bumblebee] is a big, cool, fun, action movie the boys are going to love, but girls love action, too, and this is a chance for girls to see themselves in the movie. Which I think is a really special and important thing.”

[...]

“Charlie is really our entry point into the movie. She doesn't know anything about Transformers,” says Hodson, calling Bumblebee “custom-made for people who are new to the franchise.” “But, of course, if you're a fan, you'll get wonderful little Easter eggs that you'll get to enjoy that other people won't.”

The prequel film offers a chance to get to see the Bumblebee character, who Hodson admits has always been her favorite, in a new light.

“This is really an origin story for Bumblebee,” she says, “but the character traits are all the same. They're all there. His loyalty, his kindness. He's fun-loving and really he's been the one who has always had that special bond with humans, whether it's Sam or someone else; that was something that I wanted to lean into a bit and see where and how that began.”

Additionally, we also learn of some reshoots happening for the movie, with cast members Hailee Steinfeld and Jason Drucker (Charlie and Otis Watson) as well as the Volkswagen alt-mode for the titular character, as per the actors' Instagram stories.

Transformers Bumblebee Movie to Possibly Feature New Hailee Steinfeld / Ryan Tedder Song

Postby Va'al » Thu Oct 11, 2018 2:25 pm

Motto: "Till All Are Pun!"
According to main cast member of the human side of Transformers Bumblebee Movie, due out in cinemas worldwide from this December, there may be more than just her acting skills at play in the sixth live action instalment in the Paramount series (though perhaps the start of a new series, after all).

Take it with as much salt as you want, as it's a very vague tweet, but in announcing her hosting duties for the MTV Europe Music Awards in Bilbao, Spain, taking place on 4th November, she also hinted at performing a new song from her other life as a successful pop artist. And via a screenshot - via TFW2005 user Transformers Database - of a now deleted tweet from Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic fame, there may be even more to the piece than hinted at. Join the speculation in the Energon Pub!

I am SO excited to announce that I will be HOSTING the 2018 MTV EMA’s in Bilbao!!! I might just have to perform a new song while I’m there. I can’t wait my loves! #MTVEMA @mtvema

I use photoshop a lot and I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "weirdness"? It seems like the average use of photoshop for promotional materials.

On a more serious note - I might actually bother to see this movie in the pictures. I didn't on any others after the 2007 one and the Bumblebee movie looks (at least) some step in the right direction.
