But the annual "free" figure will stay if memory serves me right.

Well, now that I know who he is (even if he's not the cartoon character), I can stick to canon and be happy about it. :D

This guy's more like Judge Dredd this time instead. ;)

Now I just need someone to be his rival... since he's a bounty hunter, I'll probably have Depth Charge spar with Lockdown in my display.

Or maybe slap a new head on Voyager TF2010 Payload and pretend he's pre-BW Rampage.

I'm honestly surprised that they're making him be the Depth Charge of the universe that Blackarachnia, Nightscream, Scavenger, and Immorticon (the ones who serve SG Alpha Trion, that is) originally hail from, as I never thought we'd ever hear from that universe ever again.

And, here's a thought. Maybe that universe will be the setting for the 2014 magazine story. That could possibly be kinda cool. 8)

The story currently running in the magazine is called Beast Wars: Shattered Glass. It's set in the very distant past of the Shattered Glass universe version of Earth. Provided we continue to see only semi-monthly issues (as is likely), the story runs until at least the beginning of 2014.

It also provides a convenient explanation for how Megatron, Ultra Magnus, and their crews survived the destruction of the Classicverse during the Invasion storyline.

I'd lay better odds on Depth Charge and the other subscription figures at next Botcon, with a prologue set up on the club website.

Turns out it's called "Shattered Time". I guess "BW: SG" was a working title.

I know this. But it's still the 2013 story.

I'm talking about the idea of the home universe of Depth Charge, Blackarachnia, Nightscream, Scavenger, and Immorticon being the setting for the 2014 story.

I suggested it since it's a universe Fun Pub has made but has barely touched upon outside of this bio and Blackarachnia's bio.

But I wasn't talking about the subscription figures. :???:

Didn't Immorticon get pretty well toasted during the Transcendent storyline?

Sorry, I wasn't clear there. I meant Depth Charge might play a role in the fiction of next year's BotCon, and likewise might meet up with the next batch of subscription characters in said fiction.

Yeah, but I'm talking about the universe he and his three companions originally came from.

Since it's been seldom mentioned before yet Depth Charge's bio reintroduced it to us, I figured it could possibly be the setting for a future storyline.

Their fiction is irrelevant to me. The crap that the club comes up with to sell their figures has never impressed me much.

I'll be using this Depth Charge as my pre-Beast Wars Depth Charge on my shelf with my custom pre-Beast Wars Maximals and Predacons (I was not impressed by their treatment of repaints/retools in the Dawn of Futures Past set either, but this mold actually fits Depth Charge and he'll fit right in since I used mostly movie toys for my customs).

There is too much yellow though, as someone already mentioned. On his original figure, his hands were not yellow so I'll likely paint them up silver to make him look proper:

I don't know why the club changed his color scheme so much.

In this case, it's a little ironic since the fictional universe that this Depth Charge hails from never had any toys to sell.

not even Optimus Primal from Crumplezone? I felt that was ingenious! 8)

My guess is that they probably felt that a deco as simply as BW Depth Charge's on a mold as detailed as Terradive's would look too bland and not as attractive.

I've seen some fan customs of Depth Charge from the Terradive mold that, while nice-looking and faithful to his BW color scheme, obscured many of that mold's s finer details with the use of solid colors over large areas of the figure, instead of adding in more variety to the color to help make the mold really pop.

Except for this one of course ;).

Yeah, it looks decent, but IMO my mod of Skyhammer into Primal looks better and works better ;).

I'll give it a try and see how it goes. The hands on mine will be painted silver, I may do the feet as well but I won't change too much.

Well... given the time it came out... kinda hard to use Skyhammer back then. :P

As for the yellow, like the guys said in the podcast, cover up the weapon and his amount of yellow is diminished. ;)

Of course, I'm just saying, I don't think those molds worked well for Beast Wars (not that they exactly had better options back then, at least they tried).

I'm ignoring the weapon. Just the feet and hands are what bugs me. Again, we'll see what it looks like in-hand, but I expect all the yellow they've added to the limbs is going to bug me.
