Actually this really works, it looks like a mix out of Nova Prime's inner and super robot modes.
It's a bit disappointing that it's just a small deluxe, but I still kinda like it.

I agree 100%. I think the look is great, especially with the new head. It's just the size that's the issue. But I'm sure he'll be adorable.

I take it this is as close as we'll get to a proper Nova Prime (discounting third party stuff). Would be nice to have all the Dead Universe cast done Generations style, I mean we got Jhixaus, Cyclonus, Scourge and Galvatron. Just need a nice Generations Nova.

I literally said "WTH?!" (and scaring my wife with it) upon first seeing it, and coming from me that's saying something. Mind you, I don't think it's bad, I just have a feeling that the character is too big of a niche. Personally, I'd have liked to see the Lio Convoy and Nova Prime toys switch position: Nova as the Freebie, and Lio Convoy as the store item.

 Tune in to Episode 98 of the Twincast (when it hits next week-ish) where I said the exact same thing. Crazy!

FunPub is Hasbro...officially licensed. It's still wack.
By that logic, IDW and Shout! Factory are both also Hasbro for their each being officially licensed as well.

And for those who are still holding out for a Galvatron, don't. FunPub has confirmed that Nova Prime definitely will be the companion piece (which also means I'll be taking back my statement on there being none). However, we will get a second Store Exclusive, the reveal is next week (August 14th).

One that people are suspecting to be some kind of cross-brand figure like a TF/G.I. Joe toy or something.

I saw a mockup of a set of 6 Gobots themed Minicons making the rounds on Twitter yesterday, but there was no context to it, or at least I had no time to look into it. I have to say, something like that would be awesome.

Keep up the hate, fellas; the more hate Nova Prime gets, the less chance that he'll sell out quickly, the better chance I have at nabbing him!

This. I was still going to renew, but had this had happened, I would've done everything to make sure I was still on board with the Club. Plus, I feel like it's too early for them to shell out Nova Prime right after revealing Lio Convoy. Maybe they should've waited a year?

Yeah, the only reason I could think of the Club wanting to put the two together is if there's some kind of story reason behind it.

But I'd more imagine Nova Prime to inhabit the not-IDW universe than the Beast Wars: Uprising universe. Unless... unless they're wanting to use Nova Prime as one of the warmongering Autobot Overlords. :-?

Yeah, looking those over, there's little chance the Club would do something like that, as they prefer to do more substantial figures like Deluxes and Up. And don't really do multi-packs outside of BotCon.

Technicalities aside, I think many of us get the point that bvzxa (hard to type that without "copy" and "paste") is trying to make. It's not like FunPub will release a Transformer whose name and likeness has never appeared in the HasTak Transformer/Diaclone/What-have-you multiverse. Additionally, FunPub can't use any HasTak molds to produce their figures without explicit permission from the rightful owner(s). Therefore, *shrugs*...

Some are creative tho:

Small Foot
Hans-Cuff
Divedive

Fitor
Bad Boy
Treads

Turbo
Leader-1
Scooter

Crasher
Cy-Kill
Cop-Tur

I could see the club do something something similar ;)

Sabrblade wrote:I think the best in-story rationalization I can come up with for this toy being so non-intimidating and weak-looking is that, in the Uprising universe (IF that is where he resides, that is), the Autobots have become so old, tired, and weak to continue fighting the war themselves, and have taken a backseat to let their Maximal successors continue the war for them. This kind of body for Nova is acceptable if all he does nowadays is just spend his time sitting on a throne issuing orders and commands to his subjects and minions. He's supposed to be in no good condition to go into battle, and this body certainly fits that description.

Though, Lio Convoy could possibly get away with being fit for battle in such a body since he'd be younger and more energy-efficient, likely a later model of the body with more advanced tech to help him perform better, whereas Nova would be using an older model that'd would have seen better days.

Or it's just old geezer creates a copy of his body and outfitted it with the latest tech that would be incompatible with his old body... :-?

And another great yet cliched plot point bites the dust...

So Nova isn't from Beast Wars Uprising, the Wings Universe is still semi-open if the Subscription figures are any indication. Plus, we still have the IDW offshoot with Chromedome with Stylor, Rewind and Treadshot with Catgut.

I'm thinking the latter's a good possibility, given Nova's IDW roots.
