Sorry to sound so negative but this is the worst time to get into Hasbro's Combiner Wars figures. We are one year after their release and they are now sold out with the scalpers finally able to sell them at the premium prices they were always hoping to get since they arent found in stores anymore. And fans are still playing with them or still have them in their collection so there isnt much on the secondary market aside from scalpers.

As for other stores, there is TFSource: http://tfsource.com/search/view/status/ ... 0warriors/

They still have the optimus maximus deluxes in stock too : http://tfsource.com/search/view/status/ ... er%20wars/

There is also big bad toy store: http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/sear ... 20warriors

And here is what they have for the Hasbro versions: http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/sear ... ner%20wars

Yeah I noticed :P but thanks!

I did find the Protectobots set by Hasbro C.W. on Amazon.co.uk for reasonable prices, all together for about £79,- (12 per Legend, 22 for the Voyager and 9 for little Groove), which is about €95,-
The only thing is finding out if they will all ship to the NL, or perhaps even free shipping.
Amazon.de is also an option for me, but their prices are much higher somehow...

While browsing Amazon, I found out there are quite a few Deluxe autobots out already. Many are retools though.
But with all those Autobots, you could create TWO Optimus Maximi!
Red/Blue O/P with:
- Prowl
- Mirage
- Sunstreaker
- Ironhide
- optional Rodimus

White/Gold O/P with:
- Hound
- Trailbreaker
- Smokescreen
- Wheeljack

:D

PS: does anyone have a full list of all the Combiner Wars models that are retools of one another? (such as Ironhide = Trailbreaker = Offroad = ...)
Do the Decepticons also have a full set? Are all Seekers available as limbs?
I'm gonna do some more research in the wikis! http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Transformers:_Ge ... .932016.29
Want list:
Siege Sideswipe, Skytread, Soundwave, Starscream, Shockwave, Red Alert, Brunt, Smashdown, Greenlight, Toy Refraktor set, Impactor, Spinister, Lancer, Crosshairs, Hot Shot, Rumble & Ratbat, Frenzy & Wingthing, Skywarp.
Earthrise Snapdragon & Apeface.

There is a list available, we posted it once so its in this thread somewhere but I dont have time to find it.

The only available seekers as limbs are Starscream and Armada Thrust ans they are both with Takara's Grand Galvatron.

For Decepticons there are three options for CW

-Bruticus
(Onslaught, Swindle, Blast-Off, Brawl, Vortex, optional Shockwave)

-Menasor
(Motormaster, Deadend, Breakdown, Dragstrip, Offroad (or Wildrider depending on what version you want), optional Blackjack

-Devastator
(A box set featuring Hook, Longhaul, Mixmaster, Scrapper, Bonecrusher, and Scavenger)

For Bruticus, you can still find all of the Combaticons on Hasbrotoyshop.com for around $80 for the whole set
You will struggle to find each Stunticon at a good price, but the Takara version (Menasor box set) is on the cheaper side when compared to other Unite Warriors box sets
Devastator is still pretty much in the $160+ range

Just letting you know, that second set of limbs - Hound, Trailbreaker, Smokescreen, Wheeljack - was released at the same time as Sky Lynx and meant to be his team to combine with. But it's Combiner Wars and one of the funner things is combining with whoever you like

There seems to be a little difference in the Sky Reign versions of CW and UW:

CW has a Smokescreen, while UW has a Ratchet. Tough call, but I think I prefer Smokescreen. Colouring looks good on both versions, so in the end I think it'll come down to price, should I ever want to pick this one up. :)

Lynxmaster also generally has better colouring. It's also worth noting though that Ratchet is exclusive to Takara, so the best option here might be to get Takara's Lynxmaster and buy Smokescreen separately. Only if you want options though and you have a look and like Ratchet

Yeah, aside from the mold use, that is the one combine who has the least changes between the two, especially for the main torso.

I went the Hasbro route myself simply because it was more affordable.I didnt care much about anything aside from cost for that release.

The Unite Warriors Wheeljack is also nicer decorated to it seems.
Hound looks a bit more decorated especially with the silver wheels.

It is a shame that people have to "Jump through hoops" to complete the Prowl/Bluestreak/Smokescreen set.

I'm still of the opinion that they should have made half a dozen or so Combiner wars vs sets featuring characters like Hoist, Bluestreak (or Silverstreak), Slicer, The various "Seekers", Ratchet & Sideswipe. and other who are MIA (like Breastforce members).
Possibly even Detritus too - but I expect some of that sort of thing will show up over the next few years from Takara shows or Hasbro Asia boxed sets.

Also don't we really need a G2 Defensor sometime ?

I would rather like a G2 (different or same colour) of the backup team-members too like Offroad, Alpha Bravo, Blast Off (Takara version) & Deluxe Groove.

If Hasbro were crafty they'd ever let Takara make the G2 Guardian or change Legends Groove to someone else like Over Ride.

I'm guessing Takara is keeping the Operation Combination Giftset idea in their back pocket though when it comes to some of that stuff.

So they can do Battle Gaia and such... I think once we have had a small break from Combiners for a while I wouldn't mind another go with Predacons Terrorcons, and Seacons in a year or two.

Also Maybe Ruination/Valdigus version of the Bruticus Giftset with possibly an Energon Sixshot colour Shockwave included. No hurry but one day it would be nice bit of fun.

I'm actually a little surprised that G2 Defensor isn't being set up already for a comic convention or the like.

I like your Vs. pack idea.
I was talking with a pal the other day about how it might be cool if Hasbro ever did the Universe idea again, it would be nice if they did single releases of those same characters. Like Bluestreak, Sideswipe, Jazz, Seekers, etc.

I dislike the grey colour of the policecar, but I love the Groove leg.

Combiner Wars Defensor:

I prefer the colouring of the Hasbro one in this case, and the SWAT bot is cool, but I'd be missing the bigger Groove :(
BTW: is the smaller Hasbro Groove included in the CW Defensor box? Or are these always sold seperately?
In this case I may be inclined to go for Hasbro's Defensor, but how would I be able to pick up a seperate
Takara Groove? Worst case: I don't. It'd be a shame though. Even though 2 different Grooves may seem strange, and the Takara Groove is out of proportion compared to the cars.

I have an extra Groovy Defensor and he's great.

And here's what I did with Rook.

To touch on something, briefly: The Japanese release of Convoy Grand Prime is homaging a specific Optimus Prime combiner, Energon/Super Link's Grand Convoy. He could combine with four drones to achieve a super mode. His default configuration had an orange fire truck as his right arm, white helicopter as his left, yellow driller as his right leg, and blue submarine as his left. The placement of Ironhide, Prowl, Sunstreaker, and Mirage on Convoy Grand Prime mimic the placement of these drones, and his chest resembles the open chest of Grand Convoy. It's an interesting homage all around. Also, the American Red CW Optimus Prime has bad hip ratchets, which also applies to wave 2 Motormaster. It was fixed on Grand Scourge, Convoy Grand Prime, Battle Core Optimus Prime (the white one), and wave 4 Motormaster. Something to keep in mind.

And lastly there are three voyager torsos released in Combiner Wars to fill out the line that do not have designated teams. Here's the complete wave rundown:
Wave 1: Silverbolt and Optimus Prime (red)
Wave 2: Optimus Prime (red) and Motormaster
Wave 3: Hot Spot and Cyclonus
Wave 4: Battle Core Optimus Prime (white) and Motormaster (fixed hips), or sometimes 2 BCOP, 1 MM, one Silverbolt
Wave 5: Onslaught and Scattershot
Wave 6: Sky Lynx and Onslaught (unchanged)

Wave 1 red Optimus Prime, wave 3 Cyclonus, and wave 5 Scattershot were the ones without designated teams and they each took a different approach to this. Prime was just depicted with the wave 1 limbs: Air Raid, Firefly, Alpha Bravo, and Dragstrip, no real explanation given. Cyclonus was depicted with Air Raid, Skydive, Dragstrip, and Breakdown with the packaging explaining that he could mind-control any random bots, regardless of affiliation, to combine into Galvatronus. Scattershot is depicted combining with the wave 4 Autobot cars because his wave 5 contemporaries were the Combaticons of the opposing faction. This configuration with Scattershot, Ironhide, Mirage, Sunstreaker, and Prowl was referred to as Betatron and for a while it seemed it was all we would get of a CW Computron until Takara unveiled theirs and Hasbro changed their minds.
Along with Sky Lynx, some didn't like the non-combiners becoming combiners, and combining cross faction, because they're glued to G1 and hate fun.

Yeah, hasbro were always going to do computron. They rwleased betatron bexause of behind the scenes management forcing them to fill out the wave, or something. Or to prove there's a market for computron. I forget exactly now, but hasbro computron was always on the cards.

Actually they officially stated that Scattershot was going to be it; they weren't going to do a full Computron until I think Takara made Groove. I'm not sure if that was the reason but I'm sure it was something Takara did that made them think "yeah screw it we can do a Computron".

Huh. Could have sworn i tead an interview where they said theydidnt want betatron, they just wanted to go straight to Computron but something forced them to do betatron first, and he was named so precisely because hes a beta test for computron. Im not going to counter, I dont remember properly. But it wasn't takara computron because we saw the box art leaks well before we even got a sniff of takara computron.

Yeah, it wasn't Takara Computron itself. Otherwise maybe Hasbro's Computron would take a few more hints from that...

Thats what I had read as well. But remember guys, the production cycle is long. We cant judge the behind the scenes stuff on what we see and leaks. By the time we see anything, the decisions have already been made (for the most part).

That Bot wrote:Along with Sky Lynx, some didn't like the non-combiners becoming combiners, and combining cross faction, because they're glued to G1 and hate fun.

I admit I was hesitant too. Everyone has a budget and I concentrated on updates to toys that originally were combiners (I figured those would be the ones the molds were intended for most). But the Skylynx torso is really nice and just yesterday I finally got Cyclonus and man, well worth that $12 I spent. Plus when I got my TR Galvatron I just could not resist getting his right hand man too.

Image

Image

And about being hesitant to non G1 stuff, that extends to people not wanting to use characters for a different limb than intended. Brawl is a really cool arm but most have him as a leg. It makes a good leg, but I recomend trying the arm for some fun. I think the hesitation might be because people are transforming it wrong, as I have seen it mistransformed online.

The waist joint is very stable in arm mode since it is staying in the same place it is when in vehicle mode.

Finally got Sky Lynx. It cost $40 on eBay with free shipping which is about as good a price as I was gonna be able to find. Definitely does have floppy legs in torso mode, but he does at least stand up. I have Smokescreen and Traibreaker as arms and Ironhide and Mirage as legs. It makes for a pretty cohesive color scheme.

Brawl does work very awesome as an arm. For a while I had the Bruticus limbs swapped with the legs as arms and vice, but 2 things for me: 1) the legs are the exact same as Superion for me and 2) Hound is the arm on Lost Lightatron, so I swapped them back. Plus it fits on my shelf where I have it better now

Yep....

This is my one combiner that is not a standard guy from fiction (well, 2 with Magnaboss, but he's an actual custom). I didn't want to make Sky Reign since I like the Sky Lynx mold best by himself and I currently having Arcee riding him like an epic griffin into battle. And the Optimus Maximus crew mostly went to Magnaboss and I personally have come to love my BC Prime so much that I pull him off the shelf constantly and even brought him back to college with me. He's just so awesome. So I have those 2 alone and Magnaboss with wheeljack separate as well (similar reasons), and all of those guys were going on the Lost Light shelf anyway, so I combined them to save space and to make something really awesome.

With his limbs, Mirage and Smokescreen give him enormous speed in combined mode, with Mirage providing cloaking capabilities and Smokescreen the ability to produce an epic could cover. Hound provides tactical knowledge and his hologram projector, and Trailbreaker provides a forcefield with his special combiner hand. Cyclonus unites the group as he is fearless and a tactician. So this combiner is fast, very smart, very stealthy, very resourceful, fearless, very tactical, and almost invincible with the combiner-sized forcefield capabilities
