- Motto: "Quis custodiet ipsos custodes"
Here's my own personal take on Alpha Bravo (goes for Offroad & Rook as well). Originally I was on the hate bandwagon as well. *Why Hasbro change the Airialbots" etc...etc... But Hasbro releasing the genuine 5th members, even if only exclusives, somehow makes up for it.
I favor UW by far, but I went out of my way to purchase these CW "6th members" as I call them, because as long as you have the originals, I think there is always room for more. I think of the NBA. You always have your "starting 5" but the 6th man (or the first off the bench) is usually highly valued. That's how I see these guys. Especially in the heat of battle, Combiner limbs are no doubt going to be ripped apart, so they are going to need a *6th man* to step in.
In the original series episode "The Burden Hardest to Bear", when First Aid didn't want to fight anymore, Rook could have stepped up and saved the team etc...
Even more NBA analogy...As long as we always had our "Starting 5" in our combiner teams, heck I wouldn't even mind if the Airialbot ranks (or any other combiner for that matter) swelled to 10 members. It may just be me, but I think Hasbro releasing the "proper" 5th members (then Takara following suit) really saved Alpha Bravo, Offroad, & Rook. I really enjoy having them now, whereas before I don't even know if I would have started collecting the line with an "80%" accurate original combiner.
